Spoiler:

The seas were somewhat calm as the aqua haired girl looked out upon the waves. It wasn't sunny, but it wasn't exactly cloudy either, it was a good mix, the sun was breaking through at points, but it was also blocked, making the air around feel cool, but not stale with one stained shade. The boat that was on rental by the client of this job looked like it was a fine vessel, though in reality it could be a deception if it was then Mei would find herself probably taking a swim, and while she didn't hate the ocean, she had just bought these clothes. Naturally this job had been offered to a variety of guilds and mercenaries alike, which meant that a few unknowns might end up joining them on the job, but at least Mei knew there would be a couple  of friend along this jolly ride with her. Still she suspected that others might possibly join in on the job as well, and if they did then more power to them, Mei was always up for a little bit of an adventure with some strangers, so long as they weren't demonic or anything.

Then it just would turn ugly real fast.

Sighing as she got up from her seat along the dock as she saw the captain of the vessel they were going to use, finish his preparations, Mei went over to greet him with a bit of a smile, and he replied in kind.

"Greetings captain, I assume everything is ship shape?"

"Aye, it be ship shape fer ya. I suppose ya be wanting to set sail once yer maties arrive, right lassie?"

"Indeed, hopefully, they will arrive quickly, we don't want to lose nice weather now do we?"

"Yar, that be true. Also I hope that they don't like to drink me rum, I don't want it all gone."

"Ha, I'll make sure they save some for you then."

’It’s awfully sunny today…’

Squinting as she stared through the shadow of her hand at the sky, Mao sighed in relief at the sight of the puffy, celestial beings lazily floating overhead. The trip over had left the woman worried as naught a cloud above could be seen for some time, leaving her to wonder if this trip might involve baking on the deck of their vessel. ’I don’t want stormy and turbulent waters in addition to dealing with pirates over a treasure hunt, but I don’t want us all baking either.’ She chuckled lightly at the thought of their enemies perhaps halting in surprise if they’d had to fight a group of “lobsters” over this odd and mysterious “One Piece.”

Exiting the train Mao puzzled over a very odd fact: why would someone create a moniker or nickname based on facial hair? ’Maybe he has an embarrassing name that’s worse than “Blackstache” and he doesn’t want people to find out? Nobody would be afraid of Jimithy the Pirate without some wicked tales under his belt…and even then there might be some hidden snickering.’ Lost in thought she realized belatedly she’d walked passed the dock number described in the directions, ears perking up from where they poked out of her hood while her eyes widened, ’Oops.’

Backtracking a little she found the place a couple rows back, pace picking up a little as the mage feared she might be late. ’Who else was supposed to come again?’ The only name that stuck was Mei’s unfortunately, Mao fretting internally over the other two. They wouldn’t be more people she’d forgotten, would they? With any luck they’d perhaps be some new people, or maybe ones she remembered but their names merely slipped her mind during the lulling train ride. Sticking to that thought she smiled upon seeing Mei talking to some fellow who looked to be their ‘captain’ for the journey, or at least he looked like an old sea hand.

”Hope I’m not late?” she half-inquired upon nearing the other woman, ”Are the other two already on the boat?”

Aiyana wasn't too sure about how she felt about going on this job. Mei had invited her, but Mao was going to be there. Not only had she not talked to Mao in a while, having moved to Sabertooth to stay close to her, but now she was in a body the bunny eared girl would not have any memory of. On top of all of that, her voice was also that of the celestial spirit's that she had been forced into the body of. The only thing she had left was her memories of her past, everything else was that of the nine tailed fox. A sigh would leave her lips as she slowly made her way to where her Lamia Scale friend had said to meet up at.

At that place there were two other girls, Mei and Mao. ”Hi guys, glad to see you both again. Doing well?” The words would be spoken in a voice only Mei would recognize as her's, the other girl sure to think she was a new person. Even so, the nine tailed fox girl hoped for the best and wished that Mao would somehow recognize he as herself eventually. Looking over her shoulder the woman would casually glance at her tails, the nine appendages wrapped together to form into a single, larger, tail that was a lot easier to keep out of peoples way. After looking at her tails for a few moments she went back to face her two friends. ”Is anyone else coming along that you guys know of? Or maybe we'll have a surprise visitor!” The casual joke was more of a tension breaker for herself. Who knew though, maybe a fourth person really would show up for the job! Either way the job sounded like a fun adventure for the group; chasing pirates and looking for a hidden treasure!

"You all here for this little treasure hunt too?" a voice said and then the sun seemed to be briefly blocked by a black figure before with a thud a man glad in black landed next to them. At his back was a large sword, larger than most. No-one here, as far as he could rememember would of met him, but they would likely know who he was. He was Zack Rose, guild master of Blue Pegasus, and perhaps most importantly for them recognising who he was: one of the four gods of Ishval. He was one of the most powerful mage's alive. However, he was also one who liked a bit of fun and adventure which is why when he had been checking over some jobs for putting on his guild board he decided to take this one for himself. He had a tendency for overly elaborate and flashy entrances. He also had a tendency for getting to places early and in this case he'd got their early and waited in the crow's nest of the ship.

"I'm Zack Rose of Blue Pegasus. Nice to meet you all." he said and then suddenly a green ball of light flew out his pocket and began to circle him rapidly before forming into a full sized armored figure. "Oh and this is Devon of Malkariss, and now Blue Pegasus." The figure was winged and as she bowed this became more obvious. However, rather than traditional 'wings' they appeared insectoid, but rather than being made of membrane they appeared to be made of the same green light that had surrounded her.

"So shall we get going?" he said and turned heading to board the ship. He'd been planning to bring his own ship, but as a ship was provided on the job he thought he'd use it. Didn't want to turn down the captain's invitation. Pissed off sea captains were not pleasent. "Or do we need to talk to the captain first?"

It wasn't long till Mao arrived and the scene became one of bewilderment and confusion, or at least that's what happened in Mei's mind. Mei had a feeling something was going to go wrong, or at least become far more awkward but she couldn't think why, this was just a trip for some treasure and such, nothing big... right?

"I don't know Mao, I don't think so, but I could always be wrong, and no you aren't late if anything you are fashionably early."

Mei stated with a bit of a chuckle about her voice, her mind still pondering what could possibly go wrong. The feeling in her gut just wouldn't let up, the captain seemed nice, the boat was decent with its steel and wood construction, reinforced but light, fast enough to keep pace but not armed, that's what she assumed she and the others were for, to defend it and find the treasure. It was strange then, why did she feel that this almost perfect sunny day was going to be ruined by a chance of clouds?

Then Aiyana showed up, and Mei realized that her feelings were, in fact true, and she had forgotten about a certain incident that had more recently, or at least recently according to Mei, happened. It was uh, going to get really awkward really fast if Mei didn't try and defuse the situation.

"Uh, hey there Aiyana, hows it going, you do something with uh, your hair?"

Mei let out an awkward laugh as she tried to look towards Aiyana, with an "I'm so sorry" look on her face, Mei had been so busy she had forgotten what had happened to her, and how Mao didn't remember anyone and oh boy this was going to get weird, the only way it might be weirder is if someone decided to suddenly drop down from the sky and draw all attention away from the potential dead air, actually no that would be a good thing, and so Mei silently prayed for it to happen in her mind, and then suddenly it was answered, a man came down from the sky.

It was quite the introduction, and he had something with him, but frankly all Mei cared about was the fact that, now the tension would be gone for but a brief moment! Well, Mei knew that wasn't fully true, there would be tension the whole time, but at least she could ponder it off with a distraction now! Boy, denial sure was a blissful tool in times like this.

"Nice to meet you, Zack, just call me Mei, everyone else does, and I've already been chatting with the captain he seems to wish to set sail, oh and says to avoid drinking all of the rum he doesn't want it all gone."

Hopefully, they could set sail soon, since as much as Mei liked dry land, the promise of adventure was half the reason she had shown up for this job, well that and to see a few friends again after a busy time. She also found it ironic that Mei and Mao kept going on boats together, perhaps it was just fun when they went shipping together.

’Again?’ The question couldn’t even make it to the audible world, too many things happening at once. This girl did not look the slightest bit familiar, the fact causing more worry than the last couple of occasions. Sure Mao believed that odd green-haired woman – Aiyana, the name clicked – and the other guy….Dmitry, she’d believed them to be casual acquaintances at best. ’So why don’t I remember even a hint of this one?’ Even with memory issues Mao hadn’t really held any opportunity to speak with someone boasting so many beautiful tails, not even one!

It was a slightly disheartening realization how few people seemed to possess them.

’Maybe it’ll come back to me eventually?’ she hoped. By this point Mao had decided to perhaps just play off knowing this girl and act like maybe it’d been a long time (surely it had, right?) and it sounded like a good plan up until Mei ever so subtly gave away the woman’s name.

There was enough time for a complete facial wipe as this fact required processing time, offering the opportunity for someone to drop from the sky, apparently the first to arrive making his presence known. Now this one she could with certainty (at least a fair bit) declare she’d never met! In fact Mao was pretty sure she hadn’t talked with anyone from that guild – as her mind switched topics - or at least anyone who admitted it yet she’d read a little this and that on him. Granted most of them were odd articles in silly magazines ranging anywhere from heartthrob to ludicrous allegations of him being the baby daddy of hundreds of children…and half-werewolf. Tilting her head…he didn’t look like he might be, but then again she’d never met one to be fair.

’I should probably stop reading gossip magazines…’

“It’s a pleasure,”
Mao greeted, her voice quickly disappearing as she let Mei’s voice over power her’s, mind still wandering and eyes sliding back to the multitude of tails. Well, the appearance didn’t match even her foggy memories of the woman, but their last meeting had left her in despair of sorts so perhaps she should say something? ”Your tails look nice,” she spoke quietly and honestly, not quite a whisper as she offered Aiyana a small smile.

Words were passed amongst the three, most of it quite awkward. A 'sorry' look was put forth from Mei, who seemed to have forgotten about the 'life changing' job they had gone on a little while back. Aiyana did a weak smile of understanding towards Mei, she couldn't blame the girl for hitting her; it was well deserved in multiple levels. Now was not the time for reminiscence, however, as the  trio of friends were suddenly joined by a fourth person; one of the most well known men in Fiore, Zack Rose! Her tension breaker joke had become a reality, unintentionally, as the man introduced himself and his accomplice to the group. Talk about the job beginning was made between Mei and Zack, the news about the rum disheartening, before Mao spoke up to Aiyana.

A deep red blush went across the bandage mage's face at the compliment. She had received a compliment on her tails, of all things! The woman hadn't even learned everything on grooming them, let alone using them for anything other than casual additions to her reactions and speech. ”T-Thanks. Your tails are a lot more beautiful, and definitely better cared for. Wish I knew how to do it better...” Feeling herself get even warmer, the thought embarrassing her way more than it should have normally, the nine tailed fox turned towards the leader of the Blue Pegasus Guild. A proper bow would be made, the girl secretly checking him out in the process, before she spoke up. ”It's nice to meet you Zack! I've heard a lot about you, and hope we get to know you better than magazines will allow. My name's Aiyana.” The change in subject was sudden, she knew, but the blush she was having stayed as she looked into the grey eyes of one of the strongest known men of Fiore.

"No rum huh? Ah well, I don't get drunk really anyway and its probably best to stay alert." he said with a shrug. "Its nice to meet you all as well and i'm sure we'll get on well." Then out of nowhere an eyepatch and pirate hat appeared on his head and he grinned, a gold tooth suddenly glinting in his mouth. "Rightio then me wee lasses. Let's hoist the main sail, weight anchors and heave to. We got a treasure to find." With that he suddenly began to float and floated back onto the ship. "We ain't got all day me hearties. If ye want to know me then all aboard."

Zack was going to enjoy this job and as such he had used his ability to bend light to create these pirate like objects and decided to really get into the spirit of things. He wished he had a cutlass and full pirate gear, but what could you do?

This was certainly going to be an interesting job. He was the only male mage on the job. Three women and a demonic fairy. It was going to be a rather interesting job. WHat he he hadn't mentioned though was that he noticed something about the one called Aiyana. She had fox tails, but that wasn't what was odd about her. No, there was something about her that seemed familiar yet different at the same time. He'd have to try and work that out as they continued on the journey. Things were going to be very interesting.

Devon meanwhile had stared at the three women for a brief moment before shrinking down and darting after Zack to land upon his shoulder. She wasn't exacely pleased about Zack going on a job with three attractive women. Zack was hers or so she thought though he had never really shown any real desire for a female or even a male companion. He seemed happy to be single. Perhaps because he was immortal and didn't want the heart break of losing many loved ones.

Well now the gang was all here, they were all ready to go and the atmosphere was less awkward by just a little bit. That meant that perhaps, just perhaps this job wouldn't take so long, or art least feel as long to complete as it might have normally, after all the stuff that went on between Mao and Aiyana or rather all the stuff that Mao didn't remember happening between Mao and Aiyana, and how Aiyana's body had changed well, Mei believed this job might turn weird, but they were complimenting each other which was always positive. That and the inclusion of this other fellow seemed to make the job feel more sociable than anything else, and this was a very good thing, at least to Mei.

We the fellow said to board and the captain was ready for taking off, so Mei figured that the best course of action was to do just that, board the ship and prepare to set sail. The boat was nice, so nice as a matter of fact that Mei could find a relaxing place to sit down on the deck and look out over the ocean, sadly she lacked any kind of book, but that's what good company was for, or being the awkward one in the corner of a room who just stares at everyone else, and those people don't know what they are thinking about. Either way it was all kinds of fun, especially since if no one else noticed, Mei might end up trying to steal a bit of a rum, not that it was going to be helpful to get a little out of it on the job but, hey they had a full party right, and it wasn't like they were all going to get drunk or something.

Now all that was left, was for the boat to take off and this jounrey could begin proper.

Oh gods’ maybe he was as weird as the magazines stated, the whole pirate act confusing Mao before it clicked and then she quite honestly wasn’t sure what to do. The moment she got on the ship the woman disappeared, letting the others mill about and do as they pleased. Call it strange and perhaps unnecessary, but things felt too weird with these two exotic strangers and she didn’t want to hover around Mei too much while possibly annoying her with such antics. Sitting amongst some crates and barrels, the tailed mage let her legs slip between the railings to dangle over the edge, getting only the occasional bit of ocean spray when they shoved off.

She could hear the occasional bit of pirate speak – whether from the captain, Zack, or someone else participating she couldn’t rightly say. Mao was distracted by the rhythmic bobbing of the ship with the tune of the ocean waves lightly roaring here and there. The beautiful weather mixed in almost sent her napping had something off the horizon caught her attention. It took a few minutes before the form became something recognizable, her eyebrows raising as slowly her body became alert. ’Is that…? But maybe they’ll veer away…’

Despite her hopes however it seemed on the contrary: the other ship was more or less making a beeline straight for them. ”Guys,” she called out, moving to stand up and get a better look rather than between the banister, ”It looks like we’ve got company approaching from the stern.” It looked like they’d be dealing with some oceanic warfare within a matter of minutes given the brisk speed of the other ship. ’Could it be some patrol ship of the enemy’s? Does this mean we’re nearing the location?’ Maybe she’d been in a minor trance longer than she thought or dozed off at some point it was hard to say.

With the small bits of introduction finished, the nine tailed fox's eyes still looking into Zack's, the Blue Pegasus Guild Master suddenly sprouted an eye patch, pirate hat, and a gold tooth before speaking up about them getting off on the job in a pirate's style of accent. Forgetting about her embarrassment, the celestial spirit woman smiled and let out a light giggle before running onto the ship after him. After boarding a glance around would show that Mao had simply vanished, the poor girl probably worried about Zack and Aiyana being new to her and going off somewhere to be alone. Knowing it would do no good to go after her on her own, all that would do was make her upset, the celestial spirit decided to stick around with Zack.

The fox eared girl was uncomfortable with him, though it was probably the look she had been given by Devon before she had darted off to land on the man's shoulder afterward. Her mind went through every conversation starter she could think of, none working for what she was trying to do. Figuring it couldn't hurt to just be herself, the woman opened up with a joke instead of anything else. ”So, I bet being a Guild Master really get you all the women, huh?” A sly smile went across her lips as she said the words, her bundled tails swishing to show her playful attitude over it. It was her hope that his initial actions were how he really was. If so he would be a blast to have around on the job, or even at any time of day really. Not to mention he was really good looking, as the vixen slowly checked him out a second time while awaiting his response to her slight flirting and humor.

"Not really. Keeps me too busy for dating" Zack said with a shrug and a smile. However, he was about to say something more when he heard Mao speak. Something was out at sea? A ship of all things. Had they really got far enough to interrupt other ships."Be right back." he blurred and suddenly appeared at the stern of the ship. Without even hesitating, Zack leapt off the ship and landed on the water. That itself was impressive, but what he did next was bit more impressive. He leaped off the water and pushed against the side of the ship pushing it near the front so that the direction of the ship changed slightly. This allowed it to swing off to the side and narrowly miss being impaled by the ramming spike on the ship that had tried to blindside them from behind.

He blurred once more appearing on the ship. The hat, tooth and eyepatch were gone. "Devon stay back and protect the captain." he said and the fairy nodded before flying off as a green ball of light before rapidly expanding to full size twirling her spear around. Zack looked at the others. "Know I got no right to order you around, but get ready to fight or stay back." he said and drew his sword stepping onto the side of the ship to observe the other which had slowly ground to a halt. Fortunately, it didn't have any cannons. That was probably how it had come up so fast. It had shed as much weight as it could so that it could hit them like a spear from behind. A clever trick, but it seemed there was no magic source aboard the ship. That made things a bit easier.

He focused and the light bent behind him forming the shape of a fearsome huge towering armored figure. This was an illusion purely for intimidation, but as he formed it he flared his magic power aiming to try to scare off whoever was aboard the ship. "Leave now. Or face the wrath of the Blue Pegasus." his voice bellowed.

Here Mei had just been in the corner drinking her problems away as the socialite decided to do her thing and chat with everyone. Mao being the most sensible of the group, discounting Zack as Mei didn't know him, noticed they were about to be attacked. Mei didn't pay it much mind as she would just simply throw a bit of lava over towards them and just take out their boat without much risk, it's not like their boat was partially made out of wood or anything and could... catch... fire. It hit her, she was incredibly useless right now, if she tried to throw something she might get carried away and take out their boat with them, she didn't really feel like swimming the entire way back. Thankfully Zack decided to be a real trooper and help the boat not only dodge them, but try to scare them away as well. The might of Blue Pegasus? Well, she supposed it could have been worse, I mean he could have said the rainbow unicorns, but really it just didn't seem that intimidating, that and these guy's were probably on a suicide mission or something anyway if they were trying to ram another ship out on the ocean.

This is when Mei had an idea, these guy's were currently distracted, and while Mei didn't feel like swimming the whole way there, she might not have too if this guy was quick enough. Still they might back down right, so maybe she shouldn't take a rash action?

Then suddenly the boat was hit by a few hammers and she knew it was all down the drain. Hopefully, Aiyana and Mao weren't already on the case as Mei decided to be an awesome hero and jump towards the ship, yelling as she did.

"Hold on guy's I've got this!"

Yes it was her time to shine, to show them what she was capable of, by landing flat on her face upon the deck. The strange crew with hammers previously scared and trying to destroy the boat with said hammers, looked towards Mei only to laugh at how someone had failed so horribly to land on their boat. They were just about tot ry and smack her with a few hammers, when they noticed the lava spreading out and the fire starting to engulf their boat. Naturally they began to throw hammers towards Mei's body, but she was already gone, you see by landing face first she allowed herself a bit of an advantage, she had already melted through the part where she had landed and was now just spreading more lava up above as her "main core" if you will descended down below the deck to throw it all about. There weren't too many of them down there, mostly just what looked like slaves to the pirates, and that made her worry, she wanted to sink this ship with the evil doer's on board, but she couldn't save these people, so with haste she would ascend back up to the deck smashing through it with a bit of her melting prowess, and yelled for reinforcements.

"They have some prisoners down here but my magic sucks for saving people, one of you want to give them a hand before this boat meets davy jones locker? I can handle the hammer brothers."

The world turned rather quickly, Mao holding onto the rail as the ship turned about faster than she thought they could as the other ship almost physically scraped by them. Things just turned crazier by the moment however as a tall figure now stood over their boat – for a moment the tailed mage halting in arming herself as she stared wide eyed at the thing. It was huge! Was it friend or foe though? Then the familiar voice boomed out alongside declaring it the “might of Blue Pegasus” so either Zack was a traitor siding with the pirates, or the giant thing was friendly.

Going with friendly Mao stopped yet again as she watched…Mei…faceplant…on the enemy ship. For the briefest of moments she’d forgotten how the woman nearly cooked her goose alongside the super-sized chicken on that one job. She forgot about the intimidation against the Vulcan and goblin with the use of her magma. For that split second it was just her friend hitting the deck with a belly flop. Then watching as the deck started smoking and the long-haired woman melted through it to the next layer things clicked back into place and Mao’s mind went back to working as she caught one of the hammers and chucked it back at the thrower. It smacked him right in the head, though the fellow right behind him got a surprise attack. The dark-haired mage winced as her left shoulder smarted after the solid smack.

’Well if it lights up I’ll either get back over or just…go for a quick swim I guess.’ Distance wasn’t really Mao’s thing as she hoped to the other ship as well, ducking beneath another hammer and coming up to deliver an uppercut to the nuisance. Backwards he fell just as Mei resurfaced, making a rather troublesome discovery below. ”Deal with these hammering fools,” she yelled, jumping below deck, in time to dodge another hammer and let it sploosh into the oceans.

She got a single response before she heard Mao call out that another ship was coming for them. That was just great, the moment she tried ANYTHING with anyone something else came up! People wondered why she was single lately, anything she really attempted resulted in something going wrong. Look at Mao and Mei, so much in them had changed since they had first met it would be a wonder anything more than friend happened amongst them. A frustrated shaking of her bundled together tails would show her hidden emotions even as she joined in with helping deal with the ship coming for them. Zack would use his light-bending illusions, if that's how he was doing that, to try and scare off the ship before Mei jumped over with an almost laughable landing. The magma body she had was heated at will, allowing her to melt through the ship, however, and that allowed her an escape as well as a discovery; prisoners for them to rescue.

Aiyana was close behind Mao as they jumped across the boat, the mage with nine tails almost missing due to misjudging how much her tails weighed. A stumbling run forward before a hand and knee touched the boat would happen before she regained her footing in time to find a hammer hitting her in the foot; where her head had been moments before. ”Ow! My toes!” Those were the words heard before she picked up the offending tool and whipped it back at the original thrower; the tool pegging him in the chest before she jumped down to help out with the prisoners. There was a good amount of them, all with the same surprised look to see someone other than those that were holding them captive. ”It'll be all right guys! We're here to save you!” With that said, the Celestial Spirit bodied mage walked forward to begin helping out with the prisoners. Help, that is, until she noticed a hand was missing; her left. A small 'eep' would leave her lips as her brain tried to process what was going on before the hand showed back up. What had just happened? Luckily no one else had noticed in time, so all anyone else would hear would be the little outburst of surprise.

So one could set the ship on fire using lava magic. However, the entrance onto the ship was hilarious. Though perhaps it had more purpose as none would expect such an apparent klutz to do so much damage so quickly. Said lava mage also revealed that there were prisoners aboard the ship. The other two females went to deal with them and Zack instructed Devon to do so as well. The small ball of light flew down through the hole the lava mage had caused and grew to the size of a 5ft6 woman with insectoid wings made of light. She did not say a word and began to help ferry the passengers over onto the safer ship. Zack meanwhile just leaped across onto the ship and as he did so a hammer struck him on the forehead. The force of this blow caused him to bend backwards, but when he came standing back up there appeared to be no real sign of a wound on him except perhaps an ever so slight bruise. "Now then. Thats no real pirate weapon is it? Seriously. Who uses a hammer? Cutlasses out being sharpened?" he said and shook his head head sadly. "No sense of style whatsoever." Then without warning a big flurry of hammers were flung at him. He sighed and began to bend and weave around them before catching one and winked before slamming it down onto the ship causing the fire weakened deck to crack further. He grinned and suddenly he was on the other side of the ship with a hammer wielder mage held in each hand by the crusff of their coat. The hammer meanwhile was soaring upwards in the air. "Let's see how well you swim." With that he tossed both of them out into the ocean where they landed with a heavy splash. He stared in slight surprise and face palmed as he saw the two hammer brothers paddling wildly struggling to swim.

"You've gotta be kidding me? What sort of pirate can't swim? I mean seriously. That's just ridiculous." With that he looked about the ship and saw one of the long boats. With a grunt of exertion he lifted up the boat and tossed it over to them. "There ya go. Don't say I wasn't merciful." He looked over at the other woman on the deck who was engaged in fighting the other two mages. "Hey Mei. Knock 'em onto the long boat. Let 'em row back if they can. Worth giving them a chance right? After we've got everyone off i'll take this ship out...loss of their ship might let them see the error of their ways"

They had gotten a fair few of the prisoners over onto the other ship – even if a bit to their captain’s ire – Mao mostly shuffled people towards the stairs and up onto the deck, creating a chain of sorts with Aiyana and the odd fae woman. Once the last person had been scooted up those steps and towards safety she hastily left as the insides began heating up. ’Mei really is too hot to handle at times,’ she thought, internally sighing a moment later as the unintended joke hit, ’still feels as though she might’ve gotten a little out of hand. This thing will be down in a minute or less at this rate.’

A small surprised noise caught her attention as she made it back up top, Aiyana staring at her hand in an odd fashion. ”We can look at your injuries in a moment,” she huffed as she reached the other mage, giving her a light shove from behind, ”When you jump back over keep your tails together so you make an arrow, push a little harder than you normally would, and once you’ve almost landed you can spread forward or swing the bundle to the side so the momentum of their weight helps push you forward a bit more rather than pull you backwards.” It felt a little odd instructing someone how to use their tail for movement, but she’d witnessed the stumble out of the corner of her eye. She imagined it’d be like trying to explain colors to someone who’d gained sight for the first time: as you’d grown accustomed to using it as a child explaining it as an adult to someone just seemed awkward.

Before she hopped over as well, making sure Aiyana crossed back safely Mao heard Mei yelling something from within the ship, telling the group to go on without her and that she’d ensure the enemy crew’s safety. ’Well if she’s there in the boats with them…I suppose it’d be good incentive to behave…or she’ll sink them. Still…” “Be safe!” she called out to her friend before abandoning the ship as well. Things were certainly heating up over there in an unpleasant way for the heat-sensitive mage.

Words made with Mao's voice would reach her ears as she felt a light shove from behind her, urging her to move on. Moving forward with the nudge, realizing her friend was right about getting out before she 'looked at her injuries' even though she wasn't sure exactly what to call it. Instructions were given on how she should jump back across to their ship, instructions from someone that had grown up with tails and knew the ins and outs of them. A deep, unsure, breath would be taken before the fox spirit began a charge towards the edge of the boat, tails gathering around each other a bit sloppily before she pushed off of the edge with a lot more power than she had on the way over. As she grew close to their ship the young woman's tails spread forward and slowed her enough to make a much more graceful landing.

A shaky, and nervous, mage would shake her head before looking over to Mao, whom had landed shortly after she did. ”Thanks so much, it's so difficult learning to live with nine tails when you were born with none of them.” It was true, her life was really awkward because of that past job. Bathing was done a small part of her body out of the water, her tails making it impossible to comfortably fit in any decently sized shower or bath at this rate. Not only that, but her tails were always in some kind of disarray, whether dirty or messy, as she really didn't know how to care for them properly. Before she could say anything else about it, however, Mei's voice came forth to tell her intents for the rest of the day. It would be sad to have her leave the group, but they would carry on knowing the magma mage could take care of herself.

With all the captives rescued, and those that were on the job safely back onto the ship, Zack was free to do as he wished with the enemy ship and they could then carry on towards their intended goal!

As the enemy ship was now clear of civilians and allies Zack decided that it was time to make sure that these men would not bother anyone again. Or at least they wouldn't using that ship. It was already heavily damaged and weakened from the intense heat of the now missing Mei so his next task was a lot easier. He dropped down between the two ships, standing on the water itself and pulled back his fist, which was conveniently holding one of the hammer brother's hammers. He took a deep breath and then struck forward striking the ship heavily with a powerful hammer blow. So great was his strength and so precise was his strike at one of the weak points that the ship split into two and began to sink. He nodded and then backflipped back onto the ship. "They shouldn't bother anyone again for a while." he said with a slight grin as he tossed the heavy hammer back and forth between his hands with little sign of strain. "Now shipmates how about we get going to find this treasure then?"

He looked over at Aiyana who seemed to be having some trouble with her tails. "Its quite difficult getting used to new limbs isn't it?" he said casually. "Never really had to deal with tails, but this is the third body i've had and getting used to a whole new body is a pain. They react differently to each other, particularly this one. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it though." he grinned and gave her a thumbs up his tooth actually seeming to glint in the sunlight. This was of course just him bending light, but it gave him that traditional 'hero' look. "Be a shame if you had to get rid of them. They really suit you. Gives you a bit of an exotic trait. Guys like that, girls too if they swing that way. Though I guess that doesn't matter unless you swing that way" He paused and then shook his head as if dispelling an image from his mind. "If there's anyway I can help let me know."

With that said he leaned up against the mast and glanced over at the ship's captain who began to set the ship sailing again towards their destination. He sighed deeply as a green orb hovered by his ear and began whispering furiously at him about his so called 'flirting'. If it was flirting he hadn't meant it to be that way. He was just telling the truth. Though that being said he was honestly intrigued by her. There was something familiar about her aura that he couldn't quite place yet.

’Probably as awkward if I suddenly lost mine.’ The mere notion sent shivers down Mao’s spine, unsure how she could come to cope without the massive thing. Sure it got in the way at points, ensured she couldn’t just curl up in a cabinet to hide or some such, but ultimately she’d adapted over the span of her life to avoid the more annoying circumstances and maximize its use…though eyeing Aiyana’s poorly kept bushel they’d probably have to have some words about proper care.

After the amazing display of power in outright breaking the ship in half to watch the man pull off the tooth glint…Mao was left stunned. ’I…I didn’t even know that was possible. I thought they only did that in movies!’ Given the wide array of magic it’d never crossed her mind someone could (or would) use it in such a way. Yet perhaps more shocking was listening to the man babble a bit in the way she could so she quietly crept away to let him have his moment and perhaps not be as embarrassed as he could be by his ramblings. Perhaps he was one such fellow that found some interest in “exotic traits” like that?

Leaving them alone – unknowingly leaving Zack to receive an earful from his tiny companion – Mao instead tended to some of the captives, helping a few below board where they could sleep and trying to help one or two their some sea sickness. As she finally got a woman to sleep who’d been particularly queasy her eyes turned towards the worried child, offering the young boy a smile, ”Don’t worry she’ll be fine I promise. Once we’re done with this treasure business we can get you all back to land and on your way to going home.”

”Treasure?” his meek reply came, large eyes once brimming with concern starting to give way to wonder and curiosity. As she nodded – and he seemed more certain of his mother’s condition – the curiosity tinged his words, ”What kind of treasure?”

”Well…” Normally Mao would answer with absolute honesty, not one to generally lie to people (especially for no good reason), however these people had been through an ordeal and she noticed how some of the others in the room tried to hide their sudden pique in interest. For once she was quite pleased about the variety of fiction she’d read over the past while, mind also digging up the job details. ”…it all started with a man, a pirate no less, named Roger…and according to seafarer history he’s considered by many to have been the king of the pirates…”

Zack's impressive stunt with the ship sent an excited shiver through her spine. He was a LOT stronger than he looked! Splitting a ship in half by hitting the weak part with a hammer! She could only imagine that strength put to other uses not involving combat! The Blue Pegasus Guild Master's words after doing so were quite mostly focused towards the Nine Tailed Fox Celestial Spirit.

”Uh....” At first the normally forward woman was covered in a blush of red as a foot scraped the ground; eyes looking down as she wiggled in place for a moment before she could think of words to say. This actually is a new body as well. A job had us taking on a spirit that transferred our bodies before it passed. The body took a small amount of getting used to, but these tails have proven harder than anything I've ever learned before; which is saying a lot.” Aiyana refrained from mentioning it was actually a Celestial Spirit, that would make most believe she was lying after all. Not everyone had believed her at first about it, and some even didn't believe she was who she claimed to be at all!.

She really loved the compliments, though his offer of help was something she wasn't sure she could ask of him. He had never had any tails, and what would he know of celestial spirits? Surely he wasn't a celestial summoning wizard, or he would have noticed the different magical energy she radiated! Of course, a powerful mage like him might know more about them even if he wasn't using that kind of magic. As a Guild Master she guessed he may have even mentored a few by helping them out. Aiyana would keep that in mind, maybe she would ask him about it when they were a bit more alone; like on the actual island.

Looking around the boat, Aiyana noticed Mao had decided to start telling a story to an interested kid. Who knew the quiet and shy one would be so good with children. A smile on her face, the Nine Tailed Fox looked at Mao as she listened to the story as well; all the while making sure to split her attention in case Zack wanted to speak as well.

Zack glanced across as she mentioned the entire body being new. However, what particularly perked up his interest was that she mentioned it was a spirit's body. His too was a spirit body and little did either of them know, but both were celestial spirits. THough in truth for Zack it was more of a half and half kind of thing. He paused about to say something and instead with a subtle movement raised his gloved hand slightly so it was pointing towards her. This was a rather special glove. It allowed him to see a person's magical aura. It had become a lot more precise since he gained this body as he could now much more readily identify celestial spirits.

"You encountered Vulpecela, the fox celestial spirit, it seems...and became her as well. " he said thoughtfully. "Heh, that damn fox always had a trick up her sleeve. Its nice to meet you...Neo Vulpecela. You can keep calling me Zack if you want or if you prefer you can call me by my other name...that of the one in the shadows." He did not specify the name entirely. That would of made things too easy for her. It was time to test her knowledge of being a celestial spirit. It was one thing being one, but it was another knowing things. He hadn't even fully indicated that he was a celestial spirit. There was also the fact that not all who knew things about the spirits were even aware that there was one hidden in the shadows. A 13th gate of the Zodiac.

Whilst speaking to Aiyana he was also listening to the story that Mao was telling a child. A story about the treasure. He'd heard it before, well read it anyway, but it was different when it was being told. Mao had, it seemed, a natural flair for story telling. It was quite nice to listen to. He was even more psyched to find this treasure now.

”-and so they say it’s the greatest of all his treasure, as it’s also the one he mentioned before his execution. Roger dared any pirate worth their reputation to go out and find it if they wanted to claim his title as King of the Pirates!” By this point the child hung on her every word, eyes positively glowing with awe and wonder at the tale of greatness. A man ordinary in some ways and yet extraordinary to meet it’d left Mao a little fanciful when she’d finished reading it, almost wanting to meet the fellow simply to say she had. When she’d finished the kid broke out into exclamations and questions, running about and yet returning to the tailed mage to inquire about this or that before proclaiming all the adventures he wanted to go on and possibly become the pirate king himself.

His enthusiasm brought a smile to her face, a part of her envious and wanting such grandeur and yet knowing in a way she already did live such a life…’As long as I can remember any of it at least.’ She tried not to dwell too much on that however, determined to try and retain some of the events of this one…somehow. Not wanting to invade the conversation the other two had she remained talking to the child as new questions came to him in fits, and chatting a little with one of the other freed slaves who’d enjoyed the tale and recalled a few bits she’d forgotten to mention that he remembered hearing “back in his day.”

“Land ho!”

The yell came with a tone of joy, these people held beneath decks for who knew how long – heavens knows they’d been basking in the sunlight for the past few minutes. Spying stable land caused many of them to run to the sides of the vessel and peer, smiles crossing their faces while none of them knew the trio who saved them aimed for the very same treasure she’d been telling.

Vulpecela...so that was the name of the celestial spirit that had done this to her as her last breath trick? Well...now she at least knew the name of who she looked like now... Zack continued speaking, though she disliked the little name he called her just out of spite for what the bitch spirit had done to her before her death. And then Zack mentioned another name, where even with a hint she couldn't place it. She had not really talked to a lot of the celestial spirits just yet, the conversations award as many didn't realize what was going on and grew angry at first. "Well...I think I will just call you Zack...if you don't mind that it. Not sure what the other name could be, not with how recent this change too place..." It was strange being at a loss for words. It wasn't something she did very often, let alone with just one other.

Even as she spoke Aiyana heard Mao finish her amusing story. The child she had originally told it to was quite excited over it, though it was overrun by the two words made by the captain that brought forth even more of the emotion. Land! They had finally made it to Divide Island, and with not too much of a force trying to stop them in the process! People swarmed the edges of the boat, all eager to see the land before them. Many were extremely excited, having been recently freed from captivity being a good part of it, and were ready to set foot on dry land; even if it was just for a short time. Aiyana looked at both Zack and Mao before an excited flair took hold. "Well! Looks like we've arrived! Shall we get off this rig and talk as we try and figure out where to start looking?"
