Valerie snapped her mouth close with a faintly audible click of her fangs as the masked man pointed a finger at her. She stared blankly at the words that followed as they didn’t really go along too well with pointing and raising of his voice.
“Oh you have no idea.” She said in reference to the oddities buried in her closet. He’d hit the nail straight on the head with that remark, even if it had been unknowingly.
While he had been having a moment of slight panic about possibly being used for cover in a brutal gunfight or something else of the sort, Valerie was beginning to think that he could very well be unstable. It was surprising to meet someone whose attention span seemed to be even more sporadic than hers. The guy jumped topics like they were heated stones that burned his feet. Most people would’ve have found that too weird and made excuses to get away at that point. But Valerie wasn’t most people. In fact, she was quite interested in seeing how the conversation played out. It was rare for her to be paying attention for this long. She usually got bored and left once the initial amusement of their reaction to her antics wore off.
“You know, you seem very much like a crazy person.”
Valerie commented casually as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and turned her around to face a group of men in the distance. It was normal for people with less than stellar morals to lurk about in the darker areas of the district after sunset and as such, she didn’t really understand what she was supposed to be looking at. Was this sort of thing new to him perhaps? Did he want her to be surprised or curious about it? With a comment about thanking the world – that honestly made very little sense – the fox man made a beeline straight towards the group of people. Valerie wondered idly if he was going to start questioning them as he had questioned her. That wouldn’t go over too well, most likely. He seemed to be actively seeking out trouble. Still, it wasn’t her problem.
It turned out he wasn’t going to talk to them. She watched curiously as he broke into a sprint and slammed into one of the men, uttering a battle cry. As far as battle cries went, that one was rather subpar in her opinion.
Eyebrows shooting up in surprise, Valerie stood rooted to the spot as he turned around and started running back to her. Only now, he had company. She’d already gotten past her shock and began to run when he grabbed her hand and pulled her in his wake. His longer legs gave him the advantage even though she was adept at running away. Valerie switched clothes mid run as the high heeled boots were giving her trouble. Gone were the leather and fangs; to be replaced with running shoes and shorts that better suited the situation.
“I’m Vale! Sort of like whale, but not really!”
The men following them were starting to lag behind. If the duo were to lose them, it would be the perfect time. Seeing the opportunity, Valerie turned a corner sharply, taking the two of them onto a more populated street. Stalls of various kinds lined either side of the street and people milled about, making it the perfect place to get lost in. She ducked under a covered table and pulled Mellow in after her. They would be safe if they managed to stay quiet. Adrenaline rushed through her veins, making her blood pound in her ears. Raising a finger to her lips she motioned for him to be quiet and laughed silently. That had been a lot of fun.
“So, is that what you do, then? Going up to random men and assaulting them?” She whispered after a few moments had passed.
