A Lonely Father {Job|Solo}

Tane was wandering around the town of Era that she had not been to for a few days. She liked the town. It housed the Magic Council and the Rune Knights’ Headquarters, both of which she had not been to but wanted to visit, like all other legal mages and citizens. She was not even sure if the two were separate places, or just in one big building. The Prestigious one folded her arms as she stood at a bus stop. Two men in uniform approached her, both exhausted. They needed her help, most likely. Even people in Era now knew that she was a helpful mage. The two men asked her if she could help them catch someone who had just run out of prison. Tane was all for catching people with ill intentions and teaching them a lesson. She wanted there to be peace, all throughout the world, in every single settlement and nation.

Now that she was aware of where he might be, Tane followed the convict, trying as hard as she could so that she did not get caught. He was also doing the same, but since he was being followed by Tane who was also being sneaky, he did not notice her. He seemed to be eager to reach his destination as well. Was there a great amount of money awaiting him? Was that his goal? Tane knew most people were criminals because of their greed. Greed for nothing too special - pieces of paper cut into the right size and printed on. Why were they craving this? Tane could guess, but she did not like the way it had such a big influence on humans’ lives. It was a smart human’s invention to use money as a medium for trade. But it seemed it was the greatest, most overwhelming invention of human history.

Finally, the man had reached where he had planned to go, a small house in the neighborhood that seemed slightly out of place. It was smaller and had a thatched roof rather than zinc sheets like the ones around it. What was he doing here? She would find out. And so she crept under the fairly large window that displayed everything that was happening inside the house. She had to go in there, actually. It was her chance. He was trapped in a house. For a while she did not hear a single noise, but then a loud noise was heard so close to her. Tane looked up to see that the man had exited his house and caught her. Tane immediately sprang up, telling him that she was here to arrest him, summoning Anchiale to make him fear her. Otherwise, she looked very incapable of everything that she was capable of. The man asked her what she was doing here, to which she repeated herself as an answer. He then sighed, massaging his temples, an act Tane had not seen before.

The man then began to explain his purpose of escaping the prison and coming to this particular house. Tane kind of felt sad about it. She dismissed Anchiale when she heard the story of his daughter and that he had not seen his own child in two years. Of course, a father could not stay without seeing their child for such a long time. Tane considered all that he had said. The man was pleading her to have mercy and allow him to let him be with his family for a while. Tane sighed now, looking into his eyes to check for any faults. After a while of studying him, and peeking into the house, Tane allowed this. She asked him to promise that he would come back to the prison after that. He agreed. Tane decided to wait outside although the lady had offered her a meal. She was not hungry, and since she did not want to disturb quality time, Tane stayed outside the house, observing what was happening there and also keeping her receptors alert.

After about an hour and a half, the man emerged through the wooden door that creaked when it was opened or closed. Tane smiled at him, asking him if he had enough time and fun with his family. He said he did, with a sad smile hanging on his lips. He lifted his hands as though to get cuffed. Tane shook her head, telling him that she did not bring handcuffs and that was not the way she did things. They talked about his family, his daughter and how he found his wife, while Tane led him back to his prison cell. She was rewarded of course, with money, like always. She did not refuse it. She could use it for something and seeing how she got so many jewel rewards so often, she did not mind anymore. She actually got used to it. After all, she was living in the human world.
