Break the Seige

Two figures sat on a stone bench, it’s gray and chipped exterior partly covered by green growths. The two young girls were looking over a paper between the two of them. “It says something about ancient ruins. This town must be the place.” One of them said, the girl in pink looked down the road. “Probably.” She responded. The one dressed in black hopped off the bench, patting dirt off her backside, she turned to her sister “Come on, let’s go. We’re supposed to be meeting out client soon.” She said. The other girl nodded, and got up to follow her sister. Not 40 feet down the road was an old man, dressed in blue. Holding a can and waiting under the shade of a tree. “Are you the mages I requested?” he asked looking up at them. The two girls nodded, their green hair shaking on their head. It covered their eyes so they moved it out of the way, mirroring each other’s movements. The man studied the girls who had shown up, they seem to be perfect mirrors of each other. The one on the left, dressed in a black hoodie with a pink lining, a golden right eye and a blue left one. She wore pink leggings with black stripes and sneakers. The man looked at the second one, who he assumed was her sister. She was dressed similarly, a pink hoodie, black trimmed, a blue right eye and golden left, leggings and sneakers. “You don’t look like much.” He scoffed at them. The girl on the right puffed her chest up a bit “We’re the Twins of Black Rose, Alie and Ariel. And we can handle this little problem of yours.” She said proudly. The man rolled his eyes, “It is possible...” He began “But I have called in another mage just in case.” He added looking back down the road “They should be here any minute.” The girl in back looked back down the way they had just come. Last they checked there wasn’t anyone following them down the same road. “Odd…” she whispered before turning back to her sister. “Might as well wait. He doesn’t seem to be moving.” She said. Her sister rolled her eyes “Seems so. Might as well.” The girls walked to the tree and leaned against the trunk, waiting for their mystery mage to show up.

Aku was requested for a job. He didn’t know how to handle this and thought that he was going to do the job alone. This was something his previous jobs seem small because he was always with one or two people. He was headed somewhere he had never been before and to prepare he made sure to leave a couple hours early. Although this plan usually worked well for him it seemed he was going to be late. His body shook as his illness took hold of him. The great distance he traveled was too much physical movement.

Quickly he moved over to the bushes and knelt down throwing up. It was very disgusting how the water sprayed from his mouth. Although that was all that was disgusting because all that came out was water. Well, that and the retching sounds coming from him. Once finished he was gasping for air and coughing out some remaining water. He sat for a moment and looked around the area. Low and behold he saw his contact chatting with two hooded figures. Judging by body type and how they moved he assumed they were females and swallowed. He stood up and dusted himself off as best as he could and moved up to his contact.

“Greetings, I’m Aku. The one you sent for.” He said in a somewhat monotone professional voice. He extended his hand and the old man took it firmly. The old man started to squeeze his hand and Aku fought back squeezing to match the old man. With a grunt he nodded to the females and the looked back to Aku.

“You were hired to make sure these two finish the job.” He informed Aku with a rough voice. Aku then faced them and gave a slight bow. He wasn’t sure how to speak to females so he just thought he would introduce himself. All the females he knew were kind of crazy.

“My name is Aqutanama but you may call me Aku if you wish.” He said somewhat shyly and unlike his characteristic from before. He rose from his bow and smiled as the old man started going over the Job details.

The two girls looked at the man who had just arrived. He was rather tall, and looked a little pale. Was he ok? The girls growled a little when the client mentioned finishing the job. Of course they would finish the job! How else would they get paid? They sighed and followed the client plus their temporary partner. “I’m Alie.” “and I’m Ariel.” They said to Aku? That was the name he said to call him by. It was then that the old man started talking. “As I said mentioned before, my town is in dire need of help. Bandits have taken over the town and using it as a base of operations to extort money from everyone in the town on the threat of death. There are so many of them it seems, anyone who has tried to leave has been murdered on the spot.” The twins lifted an eye “I was out visiting my nephew in a different town, so I was able to escape their wrath.” He said walking down. After a few moments he stopped and looked down the hill, “There. That is the village.” He said raising a hand and pointing a finger down the road. The twins followed the finger, “Probably best to take a look.” The girl in black took a few steps forward and laid down on her stomach. A small soft glow came from her hands as a sniper rifle seemed to shimmer into view in her hands. It was a large back beast, probably a 50 caliber. She looked through the scope and slowly surveyed the area. Making note of each person she could see. There were two guards by the entrance, 2 had crossed by the gate and into a tavern across the road, and a 5th had gone behind a bush to do his business. She resisted the urge to kill them all, but she didn’t. As this particular model, while great for distant shots, didn’t have a silencer, and thus their location would be immediately known. Ariel pulled her head away from the scope as the gun disappeared as quickly as it had come. She sat up, still looking at the village. “5 of em. 2 at the gates, 2 in the tavern, 1 behind the bush. Our best bet is stealth. Keep civilians out of this and avoid a fire fight if at all possible.” She said turning to look back at the man who had shown up. “What can you do?” It was the other girl who asked. Her sister Alie. “We need to know  your capabilities if we are to pull this off fast and hard.” She said smiling.

He bowed to Allie and then to Ariel as they told him their names. He wore a small smile across his paled features and his glasses slipped slightly. They revealed his red eyes for a moment but it was short lived as he pushed his glasses back up with his thumb and index finger pressing on the outside of the frame.

“Bandits huh? Well, we could assume they are doing all kinds of bad things to the townsfolk besides killing them.” Aku started but the more he spoke the angrier he seemed to get. He could only imagine how many of the people were being tortured. He took a moment to calm himself and watched as one of the females pulled out a giant ass gun. His eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store. He took count of how many she named off and where they were located. If they were guards they wouldn’t just stand where they were.

“My capabilities?” He asked somewhat taken back from the question.

“I can play with string.” He said as he started to move towards the town. He didn’t want to excite his illness but he didn’t want to make people wait. So like the smart person he was he moved his cord along the ground to tie off on a set of trees. It looked somewhat like a zip line that moved them directly into the town.

“See? String!” He exclaimed as he plucked the cord.

“What about both of you?” He asked as he moved towards the cord.

Both the girls lifted their eyebrows at the strange person’s magic, and personally they weren’t impressed. They rolled their eyes in unison and smiled at Aku’s question of their own capabilities. “Whatever we want.” Alie said smiling, her sister Ariel looked down the road to watch the guards. Seemed like they were just standing around or patrolling, rather well organized for bandits. She put her hands out in front of her “Time for work” she said smiling. Alie took a right and started sneaking along the bushes as Ariel went to the left and went along the broken down stone wall that lead to the entrance. They were quick and quiet, almost as shadows creeping along. Once they got close enough to the gates, Alie produced a baseball sized glass ball and rolled it along the ground. It stopped in front of the two bandits at the gate. They went up to inspect it when Ariel shot a pebble at it, causing the glass to rupture. From inside, the clear gas it contained mixed with the air and caused a large black smoke cloud to settle over the gate entrance. The girls went to work, Ariel hopped in and slit both of their throats with one quick motion. Alie tossed a dagger into a bush and killed the third with his pants down. The cloud was dissipating as Ariel dragged the bodies away, Alie was scooped up the dirt with blood on it and packed it into a cloth bag. Once the coast was clear, Ariel motioned that they wouldn’t get shot on sight and to enter town. It was eerily quiet as the two girls snuck their way in.

Yeah he guessed as much. They didn’t want to talk about their magic or show it off in the presence of another person. Especially in front of someone from another guild. He felt somewhat the same and just shrugged when Alie said “Whatever we want.” Soon they were both gone attacking the bandits. Aku was a bit curious about their magic but remembered he had a job to do as well. His Zip line was ready for use and with a small sigh Aku grabbed a small slap of rope and used it. Using his right hand he flipped the rope over to his left and with a small grin he ran and kicked off the ground. At first he was flailing around and almost fell. After what seemed like an eternity he figured out how to position himself. His legs were out as if he were sitting in a chair with a footstool. He was moving so quick that he almost didn’t notice the bandit at the end of his zip line.

A last second decision and he ran legs first into the man’s chest. The amount of force he built up was staggering. So much so that it knocked the man off the ground and into a building knocking him out. Aku had tried to prepare himself for the impact but didn’t do a good job. He landed like a sack of potatoes and rolled like one as well. His legs were on fire from the impact and as he went over to the bandit he noted he was still breathing. Using his cord he gagged and tied the man into the tree.

Alie and Ariel watched Aku’s unamusing display of stealth taking out the guard. “Alright. That was fun an all, but get yourself together.” Alie called to Aku. “We’re trying to not get shot.” Ariel whispered harshly. The two girls regrouped and went into the town, stopping only to slit the throat of the tied up man before tossing him into a trash can behind the tavern. It had 3 floors, perfect. Alie materialized a rope and hook the same way she did the rifle before. She tossed it onto the roof and climbed it, avoiding the windows for the time being. When she reached the third floor, she grabbed it and lifted it up. “Guess they forgot to lock it.” She whispered. Lightly stepping inside, she looked around. It was a plain room; two beds, a desk and table, a bathroom but best off all. No one was there, she motioned that it was clear and her sister climbed in just as quick and silent. Alie then looked over the edge and pulled the rope up with them. She then pointed around back and mouth down to Aku “Go around back. Wait for our signal.” Before she ducked out of sight. Both the girls smiled happily. This is gonna be fun for the both of them. Alie pushed the door open and Ariel followed, first order of business: check the other rooms. Kill the occupants and take their money. They were defiantly not leaving this place empty pocketed.

Aku smiled knowing they didn’t see the guy he had tied up. Because if somehow they did then they would be inhumanly fast. He was wondering who the tied up man was they tossed in a trash can because the guy he tied up was in a tree and blended in. They would have to have some kind of super sight. His action took as long as what they had done last time at the gate. His action was probably quicker because he didn’t bother creeping around like a ninja.

He laughed as he heard someone speaking but he wasn’t following them. Although he probably did end up where she wanted him. A bandit appeared from around the corner and he let out a little laugh. Aku’s hands shot out stringing up the guard and silencing him almost instantly. He used a strange system that reminded him of pulleys to lift the man into the top of a tree. It took him a few seconds to do this and then his string pulled the man against the base of the tree. He moved to the corner of the building and tried to look like the bandit. Although it was really hard because the man was so short.

The first door the twins came too was of course, locked. Alie placed her ear against the door and heard the pleasured moans of the two occupants. She held up her middle and pointer finger to indicate the number of people they can hear within. She produced a small vial of bluish green liquid and poured it down the keyhole. There was a small sizzling sound as the lock melted, Ariel then spun and kicked the door in Alie tossed a purple vial into the room that shattered on impact, filling the room with a dark haze. Two small gleams of light shone of steel as the twins slit both of their victims’ throats. As the bodies fell, the two girls smiled and licked some of the blood from the blades before they went ruffling around the room. They managed to find a pouch with a few jewels in it and pocketed it. They left the two bodies in the room and shut the door. Ariel placed her hand on the melted lock and a small chilly blast freezes the door shut to the frame. She pointed her middle and pointer together and pointed at another door. Once again Alie tested the door and found it open, she cracked it slightly and looked inside. There the two patrons where fast asleep after a night of drinking, each twin went to a bed and with a single motion slashed the throats of the two bandits, once more looking some armor, two longswords and a bag of what they guessed was close to 100 or so jewels. They went about this motion twice more for the other rooms. Once the third floor was relatively clear, Ariel looked outside and down to where they left Aku. It seems he heeded their advice and went around back. Both the girls looked at each other, smiled and started sneaking down to the second floor.

'Monster Dice' :

Aku was a patient person but standing around was making him think that he was letting people get hurt. He couldn’t help wanting to help the townsfolk out and figured that the other two could handle their own situation. He took a deep breath as he moved from his spot and noticed lights flickering in the house near the one they were in. It was another two story house and he let out a small sigh as his rope coiled up to the top of the building. It wrapped itself around the chimney and he held on as he made it shrink again. He forced the cord to shrink in the center so he could go up and not just lose the cord all together. It was an almost effortless action that took him from the ground floor to the second one.

Luckily the window was open and he could see two people inside. They didn’t look like bandits just regular people. Although he could tell they were because they both had weapons. He allowed his rope to move into the room and split up as it crawled up to the beam above both of the bandits. They were talking about how easily they had taken the town. When they brought up torture Aku only saw red as he tried to reign in on his emotions. He took a deep breath and calmed himself as his cord moved along. It came down like a silent spider and probably felt like a hair if it touched the skin. He had thinned the cord in hopes they wouldn’t see it until it was too late.

Again luck was in his favor as the nooses were in place. Once they were he made the ropes grow around the necks of the unsuspecting bandits. Again his rage overcame him as he did. He could recall how much fun they had torturing people and he couldn’t… wouldn’t stand for that! The rope thickened so quickly that the bandits didn’t even realize it until they were passed out. Although they were Aku didn’t stop he felt the need to kill… Perhaps it was the company he was with making him think like that. Then again, perhaps the torture he went through had something to do with his burst of anger. Slowly he moved into the room and released pressure from his quarry.

The rope moved on its own as it bound them by the arms and legs. He looted what he could from them. A few weapons, some jewels and an amulet. Once he was finished he looked around the room and placed them both in the bed. The action left him a bit winded and he sat down to rest for a bit. He made sure to pull his cord in from the chimney and set up traps in the entrances of the room, while he gathered himself.

After completing a job out in the Phoenix Mountains, a certain gray-haired mage was headed towards Quanny village, intending to pass through on his way back to Hargeon. However, when he neared the familiar village, it seemed that there was some kind of trouble. Realizing that it was probably more bandits like before, he held out his right hand and formed a silver colored Magic circle as something akin to glowing mist gathered around him. 


"I invoke the Twin Ravens..." His pupils changed to a silver glow as his irises turned pitch black. "Huginn! Munnin!" From the circle, two glowing, smoke like birds flew out and into the world, moving ahead of the medium as he walked towards the village. Using his bond with raven spirits, Dmitry Kazakov looked through their eyes and confirmed his suspicions. It seemed these folks just couldn't catch a break. Not feeling like diverting his path, considering he couldn't sense any powerful life forms in the area, he moved into the village to see what he could do to make this quick.
