Elizabeth's great-great-great-grandfather and the first master of shadows to ever exist, to ever walk on Earthland, Zed was, has always been, and always will be her most beloved relative, although she never met him... Not while he was alive, at least. Albeit he fell ot the shadows, his mind was controlled by the shadows, telling him to kill, rip, tear apart, Zed always tried his best to make the second master of shadows' life easier, to free him or her from some of the curses that owning the immense power of the shadows led to. He always cared about his descendants more than about himself, which ultimately led to his death. His careless attitude towards his safety led to him losing his life eons ago. Yet his spirit, trapped by the pact with the shadows, remained on Earthland, inhabitating the old templte of the Shadow Clan, now abandoned, awaiting the Second Master of Shadows to conquer it and claim her crown, her position as a leader of the dead clan.

In many ocassions, Zed has manifested himself in the dreams of Elizabeth to warn her of the constant peril for her life, which was in constant danger of ending because of who she was, because she was his descendant. His effort to protect her, to save her, even after his death, caused Elizabeth to develop great affection towards Zed and see him more as her father, than her actual father. Although he is responsible for her life being in danger, for the curses that torment her, Elizabeth never blamed him, never had, and never will.
