    Job:

This Job Is Continuing From "A Dangerous Encounter...?"

Lexa had to swing by Beanstalk Village to talk to an old friend before she could go to Era. The reason for this detour was brought about by the fact that she had no idea how to get to Era at all... Carrying the small pink haired child was a bit of a pain for Lexa because the child wasn't like a back pack that had straps. The kid didn't weigh much, only felt like it was about forty pounds at most, but keeping up a weight with her arms would get tiring after a while. If the kid was awake then Lexa could just have her walk, or even carry the kid on her shoulders, or really anything that wasn't as arduous as having to haul this kid the whole way using her arms to keep her attached to her back. Lexa stopped a few dozen kilometers away from Beanstalk Village to take a rest, being glad she had taken the train for most of this long journey. Lexa's back began throbbing from having carried the kid from the station in clover town, around the town while Lexa got her supplies, and then from there to this point where she finally took a break.

Lexa began to pull out some of the canned food she'd taken along with her, a can of tuna, a canister full of salt, another canister that contained pepper, and a bit of relish that would expire in a few days if not for the refrigeration lacrima in her bag. She realized that she'd forgotten to take a can opener with her, and used a nearby rock to sharpen another rock and used it to jab enough holes in the tuna to open the can. She made a sandwich with the ingredients, and was prepared to make a second one in cast the little girl woke up, Lexa figured she'd be hungry and food is always a good conversation starter. While eating, Lexa heard something coming through the bushes across from her. She couldn't see anything, but she could hear the individual fast approaching, and she decided she'd finish her sandwich first. The same second Lexa finished eating her tuna sandwich, a massive tomato with feet merged from the bushes and stopped staring at her. "Uhhhhhhh......" Lisa said with her eyes shrunk from surprise. "Soooo... how's it goooin.... sir?" she said, those words being all she could come up with in the surprise of a walking fruit coming across her path.

The tomato... if it was actually a tomato at all, looked at Lexa and said "Good, how are you human?" in a rather nonchalant voice with a hint of cockiness in it. Lexa's jaw dropped for a second, looking inside the tomato demon's mouth she saw no signs of it being a costume at all, and realized it was a legitimate tomato. "Is there a problem fleshy?" the tomato plant asked in a slightly darker sounding voice. "Y-you're a tomato..." Lexa said in astonishment. "Yeah, and you're a human." the tomato plant said, stating the obvious as a form of sarcasm. "But you're talking... and walking..." Lexa said, still trying to cope with the talking fruit in front of her. "Yeah, and you're talking, and sitting." the plant stated plainly. Lexa wasn't quite sure how to handle the situation, but she got a good idea of how when the plant said "And soon you won't be talking. Because I'm going to kill you." in an extremely arrogant voice, as if it knew for a fact it would beat Lexa. Lexa immediately snapped out of shock, and jumped to her feet. Her blue eyes began to shimmer as she grabbed the sword she had leaned against the tree when she sat down. "Let's dance then, Mr. Fruit." she said with a smile, eager to see how a fruit fights.

The tomato demon thingy began rolling towards Lexa at a rapid speed, its angle was just barely enough to miss the sleeping child if Lexa was fast enough. Lexa quickly dropped the sword and grabbed the little girl, scooping her up in her arms and rolled out of the way. The tomato plant rolled into the tree, hitting itself pretty hard and turning into mush from the impact. Lexa was glad that she chose the girl, but she was a bit sad because now her tuna, the salt and the pepper was soaked in tomato juice that one could argue was actually tomato blood. Lexa set the child down and walked through the pasty mess. She knelt down and picked up the jar of relish that she thankfully closed, and grabbed the sword she dropped, flicking it to get any tomato juices off it. She attached the sword to her hip, and then grabbed her bag pack, leaving the ruined food, or at least ruined in Lexa's mind, on the ground knowing some animal will eat it. She walked over to the child and began kicking a nearby tree to shake some of the tomato paste off, before picking up the sleeping child and continuing her trek to Beanstalk Village.

Continuing her patch, Lexa couldn't help but wonder what was going on here. "I know this world is full of magic, so a talking plant should be expected sooner or later... but the nearest place with vegetation is where I'm headed..." Lisa muttered under her breath. The little girl shifted a little in her arms, signaling that she wasn't entirely unconscious, but rather taking a very elongated nap. How cute and adorable the child was, was enough to take Lexa's mind off the random walking vegetation possible coming from Beanstalk Village for a few minute while she re-adjusted the child to be on her back again. The small child seemed to be a bit more away of her surroundings as she shifted herself into position and wrapped her arms around Lexa before falling back to a sleep state once more. Lexa wanted to keep the child as her sister even more now that the child was showing signs of being comfortable around her, but she kept in mind that this was not the child's home, and home is where this child needed to get back to. Lexa kept walking for several kilometers till she came across a corn plant that seemed a bit out of place, but it wasn't moving so Lexa didn't out right attack it, just stared a little...

Lexa slowly pulled her sword out, making sure not to let it make the standard metal sound normally made when a weapon is drawn at full speed. She silently crept over to the corn stalk, her eyes looking down to watch for twigs and loose leaves as she crossed into the grass. Lexa lifted the sword high and brought it down on the plant, cutting it in half from cob to root and as she figured, the plant was indeed alive. It let out a small squeal as the blade separated it into two halves, which confirmed Lexa's idea that the town would need some help. Lexa flicked her sword to get the corn pits off and quickly sheathed the blade, and began walking at a faster pace to clear the distance between her and the village. Upon arriving, Lexa realized that the villages wizards had put up some strange green barrier around the borders of the village, letting Lexa know that they were in major danger. She pressed her hand to the barrier and realized that it went right through, so she stepped into it. As she walked through the barrier, small bits of corn and splatters of tomato paste lifted off her clothes and dissipated. 'A barrier that keeps plant life out...' Lexa thought in amazement, looking up the barrier was a cylinder that extended to the clouds as if the village expected the plants to grow wings or something.

A man quickly rushed up to Lexa, asking her to help them take care of the rest of the plants. His clothes were torn, and he was bleeding profusely from his head and torso, and looked as though he went on vacation to hell and had a rough time. "I'm fine to help, but I need someone to look after... my... sister. They needa stick with her at all times!" Lexa said, agreeing only to fight under those terms. The man called over a pair of older girls, roughly in their late teens, who took the sleeping child from Lexa's back and carried her into one of the tepee's scattered around the village. "Before I go in, I needa borrow a weapon or two, got any?" Lexa said to the man with a confident look in her eyes. The man showed her to a weapons room of sorts that had spears, pikes, hastae, swords, daggers, staves of all sorts lining the walls and in display cases in the middle. He told her to take as many as she needed, an offer Lexa didn't waste time taking up. Lexa picked up a second blade, it was longer than the one she had but it weighed the same. The sword's full length was four feet and she had to hold it on her back, but since it was so light she didn't mind it.

Lexa looked at the sword with a smile, the sword felt powerful and it hummed with latent energy. It was three feet long at the blade, with a seven inch long grip and a five inch long hilt. The hilt and grip was encased in a beautiful golden decorum that wrapped around it multiple times and even went onto the blade a bit. Lexa knew a great deal about metal working, but the blade was a beautiful white color, upon feeling it, the weapon was obviously made of metal that she couldn't identify. The blade didn't have a sheathe to go into, but there was a long piece of cloth that was attached to the golden decor along the grip, long enough to wrap around the blade. Where the grip was, instead of it being straight up metal, or cloth the grip had some strange leather that she couldn't identify, and it was laced with small strands of the same metal as the blade. The man said that if Lexa defeated the enemies, it was hers to keep, a notion of generosity that Lexa would normally turn down, but this sword spoke to her. As in, the sword produced an audible sound as the spirit of the blade spoke into her mind.

The blade gave a slight golden glow to Lexa as she stood there staring into the sword. A voice entered her mind "Is there at last a mortal who is able to hear me?" the strong, deep, calm, and nearly regal voice said. "I-I..." Lisa said out loud in a scared, nervous tone. The man who allowed her in the hut stared at her with enlightened eyes. "I am the guardian angel, Gabriel. This is my weapon, my Blade. Take it up against your enemies, and do not die." the voice said, fading out towards the end of its introduction. Lexa's eyes dilated as the voice faded out, returning to a normal size as Lexa dropped the sword. The man explained that sword is a legendary weapon that belonged to a long since gone man named Gabriel, who was rumored to have become an angel. It was supposed to be extremely powerful, but no member in Beanstalk Village could tap into its power. The man said that she had no choice but to take the weapon now, as Gabriel has claimed her as his successor to the weapon, and he shoved Lexa out of the weapons hut, rushing her to go take care of the vegi-demons.

Lexa walked out of the hut with Gabriel's Blade on her back, the entire grip and hilt sticking above her head, and saw nearly half the village was waiting outside for her. The village looked at her with bright eyes, many had smiles and seemed eager to have the mercenary in their little town. Lexa looked around at the happy faces in astonishment, she'd never once been exactly 'welcome' to a place, but rather shunned. She looked around further, noticing the friend she'd come to visit wasn't among the people making her worry a bit. An old woman came through the crowd and gabbed Lexa's hand, "Thank you child." the woman said in an old crow voice. "We've been trapped in this barrier for several days, and we were running low on food when you came in. My granddaughters told me a wizard had come to town and agreed to defend the town for us, and I felt a sense of hope come over me that I hadn't felt since this whole event started. When you go out, have no worries for your sister my dear, I will personally ensure that she is safe and sound when you come back." the woman added, and then gave Lexa a gentle hug.

Lexa returned the hug, and began walking to the edge of the barrier towards the fields where she saw a pair of tomatoes, not unlike the one she'd met before, waiting for her. "Good thing they sent a welcoming committee, figured the guy might be devoid of all humanity." Lexa said with a smile on her face, and a fire in her heart. She drew both her swords, Gabriel's Blade the one the town gave her, and Human's Incarnation a blade she'd always owned in her left. Both swords had the same weight, so it wasn't hard for her to balance with them once she'd adjusted to the length of Gabriel's Blade. The two tomato demons came flying at her, attempting to body slam Lexa with their giant squishy red selves. Lexa's eyes were shimmering bright blue as she stood in place and waited for the two of them to get a little closer to the ground before she made her move. They got closer and closer, like meteors falling from the heavens upon Lexa's head and Lexa didn't move an inch. As they got close, Lexa spun slashing them both twice with each of her blades, cutting an 'X' in their bodies causing them to split into four and drop to the floor.

Lexa moved through the field, not caring to study the black thorns growing on the plants in great depth. She saw the plants were radiating some black mist, had thorns, and looked somewhat dead. That was enough examining the dead plants for her, as they required no more examining of the obvious. Five tomato plants came across her path while she was perusing the oblivion caused by their creation, much to their dismay it would become. A blast of ketchup flew towards Lexa, a shot that she simply dodged by tilting her head as the massive spray shot past her face, a few inches from her cheek. The other tomato plants began charging towards her, and Lexa allowed the four of them to get in close. As two of them passed, Lexa performed the same spin as the previous two creating the X mark in them while they passed, and moving onto the next two enemies. As they passed her, Lexa used both swords as she jumped and slashed one with both blades directly down its, or what is assumed to be its face while allowing herself to keep the momentum and go to the floor where she spun under the second tomato plant and used both sword to slash up its back.

The fifth tomato plant was getting closer, Lexa now realizing he was using the other four as a distraction while it got closer to the bladed wizard. However, Lexa is not so easily taken by a slow moving fruit, and as the tomato demon got close by, Lexa jumped to a side landing in a roll as she crouched. The tomato plant turned and fired another shot of ketchup that Lexa dodged by dropping her entire body to the floor. She felt the wind kick up as the shot flew past her, leaving a few dots of ketchup on her clothes that she'd have to wash out later. Lexa stood up and shook her head to make sure she wasn't seeing triple, as when she looked at the tomato demon before her, she saw two more standing next to it. Lexa accepted the fact that she hadn't gone entirely insane and that two more enemies decided to come and help their friend. She put on a confident look as she knew that no matter how many enemies they threw at her, her conviction was superior to them and according to her father, the warrior who is more determined will win. Her father didn't lie, and Lexa charged between the two enemies as they each fired a blast of ketchup at her.

The shots intersected where Lexa had jumped into a forward roll from, moving under the two shots and jumping up back to a run towards the one in the middle. The plant she charged at got ready to fight her, bracing itself in the dirt as Lexa got closer, but was caught of guard when Lexa jumped over it instead of slashing for it. She jumped in between the three of them and spun, cutting all three in one motion. The in the middle lurched forward while the other two moved to a side, meaning they all were hit only once each but that was fine. Lexa jumped back as the two on the side tried to ram her, instead ramming their own ally. Lexa then jumped back forwards and stabbed them both on their sides, and pulled the blades in opposite directions making a great big slash in each of their bodies. The two tomato demons hit the floor and Lexa took a few steps back. She started a miniature sprinting motion to get a bit of speed, then pushed off the floor with her right foot, and used her left foot to push off one of the demons. Jumping over the two corpses, Lexa hit the floor and rolled forward as she saw the last tomato demon inhaling, most likely getting ready to fire more ketchup at her. She was at point blank range, and spun quickly. The blades sliced through the tomato plants mouth, cutting all the way through as the plant leaned forwards in its death, spilling the ketchup it was preparing to fire all over the floor and Lexa's boots.

Lexa felt a sting as something impacted her back multiple times in the same spot. Turning around she saw four stalks of corn staring at her angrily with their leaves pointed out to make themselves look bigger or something. Lexa didn't care, she charge at them too. She saw one inhaling to fire another of those shots at her, but instead of dodging she charged in her straight path. The corn demon fired a blast of corn kernels at her, but it was unable to account for Lexa's movement when aiming so the shot was a bit off. Lexa got in close to one of the corn demons as it was getting ready to smack her with one of its leafy hand things. She spun and slashed the leaf off by lifting the blade up, when she finished her spin she was on the back of the corn demon where she slashed down, cutting the second leaf off. She then lined the two sword to form an 'X' with them, resting the broad edges against each other and then brought them apart scissoring the corn demon's head off. The other three took an immediate step back after realizing the young looking girl's speed and agility, starting to think the fight was one sided.

She turned to the next corn plant and began running towards it, not noticing the one extra plant arriving on scene. She did notice however, when the corn plant changed to a more confident posture even with the two blades about to slash it. Lexa slammed the two sword in the corn demon's face and dropped them creating two slices of corn that came right off the cob when Lexa pulled her swords out. She felt two spots on her back sting as more kernel shot impacted her, causing her to wince from the stinging of it. She ignored the pain and started running towards the three demons, getting slightly annoyed at how they liked to create these failed ambushed. She'd be more impressed if they had enough power to make the ambush effective, but their attacks only stung and nothing more. The two demons felt the power of sharpened steel as their heads were cut from their stalks when Lexa jumped while spinning. She landed in front the third who was ready to fire another volley of corn and did so only after it was severed from its body. The corn demon fired the corn kernels, every last on being launched into the ground. Lexa walked to all three and stabbed them in the backs of the head.

Charging through the fields, looking for any plant that wasn't dead looking with black spikes on it, Lexa kept her swords ready for the next encounter. She didn't allow any thought to cross her mind, knowing that by thinking too much during a fight is a recipe for disaster. She came across four more corn demons that were all waiting for her, tapping their root like feet on the ground with kernel shots at the ready. As soon as she emerged and was in open air, the four of them opened fire. Lexa jumped forward into a roll and dodged the four shots that were aimed to intersect where she was previously standing. If she had jumped even a second later, she would have been seriously hurt by those things. Lexa sprang up and charged at the two corn demons in the middle with he blades held angled out. With a flick and a twist of her wrist, she turned the smaller blade so it was facing backwards and then spun around as she was between the two corn demons. Their heads hit the floor, and she kicked one up with her foot, and then spun around and kicked it to one of the corn demons that was a bit further from her saying "Catch!"  with a smile on her face.

The corn demon caught the corn cob head with its leaves, and caught Lexa's sword with its face. Lexa pulled the sword up, cutting a notch in the corn demon's head, and then she spun around and slashed its body. Lexa ran towards the last corn demon, and smiled seeing as it was charging to her as well. She liked having an opponent with guts like that, but those guts were worthless if there wasn't a brain to tell the guts what to do. Lexa ducked while spinning at the same time, causing her to spin around the corn demon, using the sword to cut its root like feet as they passed each other. Lexa stood up and pressed the flats of her boot against the corn demon's stalk, and slammed the blade of the longer sword through the corn demon's head. She the pulled the sword to a side, removing a large chunk of the corn plant. Lexa walked away as some strange green fluid began seeping from inside the corn demon, something she assumed to be the plant's version of blood. Walking away, or trying to, Lexa heard a lot of rustling coming from the world around her. Feeling uneasy about moving and risking running into whatever caused the rustling, Lexa stood in place and let it come to her.

The rustling continued, going on, and on, and on for what felt like hours. The anticipation made the couple minutes feel so long, but in all reality it was only a good three minutes, give or take a few seconds. Lexa waited in that one clearing, finally saw as an entire heard of green, bushy plants with red glowing eyes emerged from the bushes. They shook their bodies to get the thorns out of themselves, and then looked at each other intently as though they were coming up with some sort of plot. Lexa stepped forward slowly, and positioned herself directly in between each of the broccoli demons with he swords at the ready. She felt something below her feet, a large metal square with a hinge on it, a trap door... Lexa watched as the demons began brushing their feet on the ground like bulls ready to attack. Lexa would never be able to escape all of them coming at one, she looked at the trap door and then back up as all twenty of the demons charge for her. Lexa closed her eyes tight and flicked her wrists, switching the smaller blade to facing backwards. She balanced on the tip of one foot and began to spin as fast as possible, knowing that this would neither feel nor smell good.

Lexa spun and spun, the sound of footsteps changing as her enemies got closer. The sound was like playing the sound of a thousand soldiers charging, while simultaneously pressing your palms to your ears, lifting them off, and pressing them back repeatedly in rapid succession. She felt pressure on her blades as the enemies all touched the swords and began getting chopped up. She felt some enemies branches splinter leaving cuts on her hands and arms as she spun, but she continued to shift her weight to keep her momentum. The broccoli plants were all hacked into pieces, but some weren't dead entirely. Lexa stopped spinning and immediately fell over on her back, feeling the sticky remains of her still bleeding enemies touching her. She had to keep her eyes closed, every time she opened her eyes she felt her head throbbing from the constant spinning. Lexa rolled over and got on all fours, but immediately felt nauseated and fell over again, feeling the sticky goopy, green blood against her face. She was so dizzy she couldn't even think of how disgusting it felt to be laying in the blood of plants, unable to even remember that she'd never once thought she'd lay in plant blood to begin with. Lexa stayed down on all fours for several hours while her brain readjusted to the feeling of not spinning.

After that short break, Lexa began to stand up, feeling a bit woozey but she knew she'd be alright. After taking a few steps however, Lexa fell back on all fours and began to throw up. She spat the remainder of the vomit out, and allowed more saliva to form so she spit more vomit a few times. The constant spinning made her too dizzy to stand, but looking down at the ground was too bad so long as her eyes were closed. She opened her eyes and saw that her hands, arms, face, and parts of her legs were covered in blood, and the blood was filled with dirt. She slid over the her two sword, sheathing the short one, and tying the long one to her back and began to crawl slowly back to Beanstalk Village. It took until midnight for her to arrive, but the sight of the massive green barrier was welcome. As she passed through, the green goop on her clothes, face, and in her hair lifted away and dissipated which was a relief to her. She made it close to the massive beanstalk that gave the town its name, and collapsed there. When Lexa awoke, she was inside one of the tepee's with the old lady over her smiling. She told the old lady about the metal trap door in the middle of the field, and the old lady sent a large group of the village's men to go investigate it, and take whoever was inside prisoner. Lexa was given directions to get to Era, and said she could be on her way after a few days of resting in the village to regain her strength. After only a day instead, she woke up in the morning and folded the clothes they lent her while hers was being fixed, and found that her clothes were in fact fixed and waiting for her on a nearby table. Lexa switched outfits, but decided to keep the ones they gave her as one of her future requips. She saw the little girl was asleep, probably woke up the day before and went back to sleep. Lexa set the kid up on her back, grabbed her stuff and her new sword, and headed out of the village making sure to say bye to everyone. A worry crossed her mind not knowing where her friend was, but she figured the big guy was probably alright, he was tough.
