◑ Origin: Possessed by only a chosen few, this magic is the pride and weapon of Hell itself. And it was so because this magic – Demonic Essence – was the magic of the demons who referred to themselves as ‘The Diabolic Keepers’. These demons were far different from any other ordinary ones as they were the keepers of Hell itself; the ones who protected Hell; the ones who were the most sinful of all; the ones who reigned Hell directly under the command of Hell’s King; Lucifer. As these keepers had vital roles in the functioning of Hell itself, Lucifer, by using his ultimate reign upon the land of evil, had bestowed upon them a magic that none before had possessed called ‘Demonic Essence’. This magic is the very soul of Hell itself; the very darkness that raptures Hell is what fuels this magic; this magic, despite its name, actually uses the essence of Hell and is the key to the land of Hell. And hence, the magic was at the mercy of The Keepers by the direct orders of Lucifer. Demonic Essence being derived from the darkness of Hell by the worst of them all, Lucifer ensures it as – if not the strongest – then, definitely one of the most dangerous and sinful form of dark magic.
◑ Possession: As stated, this type of magic is only possessed by The Keepers. And hence, the reason Laycie Vessalius possesses it. As before being banished upon the land of living, Laycie was a part of The Keepers and so, had the magic ‘Demonic Essence’. Despite the fact that she was no longer in Hell, Laycie still possessed the magic to the same amount she had when she was in Hell and that was due to the fact that Lucifer had wanted to bestow upon The Keepers a magic that is linked with Hell however, does not require The Keepers to be within Hell to utilize it. Consequently, the magic can be used in any dimension by a Keeper regardless, of how far away from Hell it may be situated. However, only for as long as Lucifer wishes them to be. He is the only one who can take the magic away from a Keeper and the fact that Laycie still retains it proves that despite being banished, she still possess it regarding her as a Keeper still. For this magic is not only a mere magic but rather, the life-form of the demon itself. Once in possession of the magic, it attaches itself to very being of the Keeper until they are one. If the magic is to be taken away, ultimately, the demon’s life will be as well and they will cease to exist.
◑ Usage: Lucifer had created the magic in such a way that it utilizes the properties of Hell – the darkness of Hell, specifically – as a means of granting the Keepers the ability to dispose them at their wish for the protection of Hell and for the chaos of anyone who chose to defy it. As Demonic Essence is in one way, darkness and energy itself, Laycie is capable of using the magic to her will by calling forth the essence of Hell and transforming the essence which basically encompasses of energy into matter which comprises itself in the form of various offensive, defensive or utility abilities possessing vast amounts of dark attributes. The essence of Hell becomes the essence of the demon itself, at their disposal to command it as they wish.
Strengths:
❂ Versatility – This advantage is perhaps, one of the most beneficial ones that Demonic Essence has. Being a magic derived directly from just an essence, Laycie has the ability to transform it into various types of abilities; be it offensive, defensive or even, supportive.
❂ Dimensions – Despite being a magic for which Hell is the main source of energy, Laycie is capable of using Demonic Essence to its maximum level even whilst being in the Living World making it a certain fact that regardless of the dimension, the essence can still be called forth to fuel the magic.
❂ Non-Elemental – Demonic Essence being a magic derived from the essence of Hell itself possess no form of elemental weakness as it is not an element. Hence, there is no such case in which a particular element may be able to completely out-weigh this magic and neither can Slayers absorb this magic because it is non-elemental.
Weaknesses:
❂ Life-Force – Demonic Essence is a magic that once bestowed upon a demon has the ability to completely merge itself with the demon, becoming one being. Hence, if the magic was in some way stolen, taken away or lost by Laycie, her existence will disappear from the face of the universe and she will cease to exist.
❂ Lack Of Element – Whilst this is in one way, a strength, it is also considered a weakness as since Demonic Essence possess hardly any element, the magic does not get an advantage over another elemental magic and can be considered on the same level as them.
❂ Essence Of Heaven – As Demonic Essence is a magic comprised of Hell, obviously, the counter-part of it would be a magic which is comprised of Heaven. This does not essentially mean light magic as though, light can be considered a part of Heaven, it is not the essence of it. The essence of Heaven is the main weakness and counter-attack for Demonic Essence.
❂ Less Effective Against Demon Slayers – Demon Slayers are in one way connected with Hell being the ones that are completely against it as well as demons. So naturally, Demonic Essence, when compared to others will be comparatively weaker against Demon Slayers.

Shinokishi: The Death Knight
✖ Description: One of the Seven Knights of King Kuroryu, this Knight was no ordinary knight, he was known as the Death Knight for his mass destruction. He killed 5 of the Knights of the order, leaving only himself and his brother alive. Shinokishi was so feared by civilians, King Kuroryu had exiled him. This caused Shinokishi to slay the knights. A battle between Kuroryu and Shinokishi went on for 7 days, there was no winner - instead Kuroryu sacrificed himself to seal Shinokishi away into the void with Kuroryu. Shinokishi remains a legendary knight that can be seen in some cultures as a God.
✖ Ability: The user can envelop death magic around his spells, or himself - never both. Being able to destroy spells that attempt to target the user. Enveloping death magic around his spells give the user +25% magic boost.
✖ Usage: The user can envelop death magic around his spells a total of 5 times giving a +25% magic boost to those spells (deals 25% more damage). He can also envelop death magic around himself to destroy other spells up to the users rank (caps at S-Rank). When he activates the death magic that envelops himself it lasts 5 turns. This lineage can only be activated once per a thread.
Unique Abilities:
❋ Flight – By using Demonic Essence in a sort of wrapping manner, it is capable of providing the ability of flight when Laycie uses the magic to wrap the essence around herself in some form of an invisible cocoon which provides with her flight. The flight ability has a post duration of 2 posts before requiring, a cooldown of 3.
❋ MP Regeneration – Being a demon or more specifically, a former Keeper of Hell and possessing this magic, Laycie has the ability to regenerate her MP by tapping into the channel of the essence of Hell and deriving some energy from it. From this derived power, Laycie can regenerate 3% MP every 3 posts.
❋ MP Deduction – Being a magic which is not suited to any other beings except the demon’s that possess the title of ‘The Keepers’, Laycie does possess the ability to use the essence in a way which has a negative impact on others by causing their magic to slightly weaken aka MP deduction. The MP deduction occurs for 3 posts during which, the below specified MP is drained, totally. This can only, however, be used once per thread.
❋ Hallucinations – By wrapping the essence of Hell; Demonic Essence around an opponent, they can be temporarily sent into a state in which hallucinations occur to them, making them see the worst and the most sinful side of Hell. In this state, any attacks initiated by the opponent currently withheld within the hallucination, will miss and not strike their intended targets. This ability has a duration of 5 posts before requiring a cool down of 10.

Description:
Frangere is a spell in which the essence wraps itself around Laycie’s hand allowing her to fire an oblong blast of black energy at the opponent which is capable of causing an effect of annihilation. This means that once the spell strikes the target, it is capable of annihilating them completely by using the essence’s destructive power. However, it depends on what the object is; non-living objects may be eliminated. Along with these objects, things such body parts that have been cut can also be annihilated however, a full body mainly one that possess a heart cannot. On living beings, it only acts as a normal attack. The size of the oblong blast is as much as an average’s persons arm and the range to which it can travel to is about 4-5 meters away from the user.
Strengths:
o This spell is capable of erasing an object from existence.
o As the spell travels in an oblong form, it can rotate in any direction even after being fired.
o Frangere allows the object to annihilate even those objects that are body parts if only they are separated from the main body.
Weaknesses:
o The distance of that Frangere can be fired to is quite limited.
o The spell cannot cause much damage to a living being who possess both heart and soul.
o Frangere can be easily blocked with magical shield or attack as long as they are not in the form of an object [e.g. magical energy can deflect the attack]
o Once fired, the spell cannot be controlled; it will travel to the direction that Laycie has fired it towards.

Description:
Gravis Ictus is basically, a spell that uses the essence to transform itself to a beam of black energy. The beam is shot forth from Laycie’s index finger towards the target and possess quite sharp properties; being able to go through a person like how a bullet would. It is able to pierce through a durable foe as well as shields from a considerably large distance of about 10-15 meters at a speed of about 5m/s.
Strengths:
o This spell is capable of being shot from a long distance hence, giving way for a hidden attack.
o Gravis Ictus is able to pierce through an opponent with ease.
o If this spell is hit on any vital body part, it can be extremely dangerous.
Weaknesses:
o The spell travels in a straight line hence, cannot shift direction if opponent has moved.
o Opponents with speed and very fast reflexes can detect it and evade the attack.
o The spell does not cause much damage if not hit in a vital area and can be healed up in time.
o Gravis Ictus – due to its very thin, straight line – may miss the opponent if the aim is even slightly off.

Insidiae is a spell that uses the essence of Hell to conjure a net that entraps the opponents within; the maximum number of opponents that can be trapped ranging to about 10 opponents within the net however, the more individuals that are within the net, the more it weakens. The net is only capable of conjuring magical tendrils in the form of a net solely for the mere purpose of entrapping opponents. It extends to about 15-20 meters away from the caster, trapping any and every who are within that range. The spell requires 1 B-Rank or 2 C-Rank spells to be broken.
Strengths:
o Insidiae has the potential of entrapping a numerous amounts of opponent; the maximum being 10.
o The net can be spread out over a significantly large distance which is about 20 meters.
o The spell is capable of entrapping opponents till the rank of B. Foes above that rank can easily tear the strings apart.
Weaknesses:
o The spell is used for the mere purpose of entrapping the opponents; it does not possess features of attacking them any further.
o The more the individuals within the net are, the weaker it becomes.
o The spell entraps any and every who are within the particular range that the caster has set the net out for; whether it be foes or allies.
o If even part or string of the net breaks, the entire spell falls apart.

Description:
Clypeus is a mainly defensive spell that uses the demonic essence to conjure up a shield for the purpose of defending against attacks. The shield has only one area where it protects, forming a rectangular shield covering only one aspect of the caster; be it the frontal area, back area or even sideways. The area of effect of the shield is only exactly around the caster. The shield can withstand 1 C-Ranked spell before, breaking.
Strengths:
o Clypeus has the ability to protect from any side be it frontal, backwards or sideways.
o The spell can protect against both magical as well as solid attacks.
o The shield can handle and block attacks of C-Rank power and about a half of B-Rank power [although defending against B-Rank attacks takes 5% MP extra for every attack].
Weaknesses:
o The defensive shield is only one-sided and hence, can only protect one area of the body leaving the rest open for attacks.
o Continuous attacks upon the shield are capable of weakening it and therefore, breaking through it making the next attack strike Laycie directly from her close proximity to it.
o Clypeus can only be used to protect the caster hence, protection of an ally cannot happen.
o Once the shield has been planted upon a specific direction, it cannot be changed until the shield is summoned again.

Description:
Whilst using Tenebris Amnis, the caster calls upon the essence to conjure to conjure up multitudes of hands that are formed from within their own hand to attempt to grab the opponents. The maximum number of hands that can be called forth are 5. The spell not only grabs the opponents but due to the sharp and lethal nails of the hands, it is capable of scratching opponents as well. The spell can only extend to a distance of about 5 meters from the caster and uses the sublime actions of the caster’s hands to coordinate the hands conjured by the essence.
Strengths:
o Tenebris Amnis can be used for grabbing an opponent, regaining them within its hold.
o The spell also qualifies as being able to injure opponents by scratches due to the nails of the hands.
o The various hands are controlled by the caster’s hand action as well as mind thus enabling each hand to move in a different direction.
Weaknesses:
o An opponent with speed and good reflexes can be able to dodge the hands and evade the attack.
o The spell does not possess much of a range, thus only being able to strike opponents close by.
o Mages of B-Rank and above are easily able to free themselves from the hands clutches.
o Even if one of the hands were to be struck and injured thus, dissipating it, the entire spell would fade away and stop.

Description:
As per the name suggests, Deflecto is a spell capable of redirecting or deflecting any and every attack coming towards the user by focusing on said attack with their eye or from their palm. The area of effect of the attack as in, the area amid which the oncoming spell can be deflected is about 10 meters from the user on either direction. The spell can redirect a maximum of 3 attacks per usage – during the 2 posts. However, the spell does not deflect attacks higher than B-Rank.
Strengths:
o The main advantage of this spell is its capability to redirect or deflect any and every attack regardless of its element.
o It has a 10 meter distance from the user hence, it helps in deflecting attacks from a large distance.
o Deflecto can also be used to protect allies by deflecting attacks for them within the given area of effect of the spell.
Weaknesses:
o The user is only capable of deflecting one attack at a time.
o Using Deflecto requires every ounce of the user’s concentration span hence, rendering them incapable to focus on anything else.
o On the whole, the spell can only deflect 3 attacks per usage after which it requires the cooldown to be attained before being able to deflect attacks again.
o If an attack is not within the caster’s line of vision, then the spell is useless and cannot redirect or deflect any attack.

Creepitus Malum uses the essence to form an offensive spell when the caster holds their hands together and a dark-coloured sphere gathers upon the base of their palms. When the sphere is fired, a powerful dark-coloured beam is expelled from the users hands aimed directly towards the target of the spell. The distance the beam can travel is about 15-20 meters from the user, aimed in one specific direction and moves at a speed of 5m/s. The spell can also be fired to counter-attack any other oncoming spell.
Strengths:
o Creepitus Malum has quite a large distance that it can travel, hence, can be fired at foes within that range.
o Even after the beam has been fired, the caster can change the direction of where it is headed as the beam still originates from the sphere within the user’s palms.
o Along with attacking foes and breaking defensive barriers and shields, the spell is also capable of counter-attacking any oncoming spells, regardless of element, towards the user or their allies.
Weaknesses:
o As the spell is capable of changing directions, it requires the user’s utmost concentration.
o During the time period the spell is active, the sphere is still located within the user’s palms thus, rendering them incapable of using their hands for any other purpose.
o Despite the long range of the attack, the target still needs to be within the user’s line of vision.
o Creepitus Malum can only counter-attack the spells that are of the same rank or lower.

Description:
Perhaps one of the most powerful and efficient spells of Demonic Essence, Fluctus Mortuus is the core of the essence of Hell. This spell allows the user to sap into the life source of Hell itself; the souls of Hell. By using this spell, the caster summons a wave of ghosts – tortured souls from the depths of Hell – and sends the wave towards the enemy. The wave is capable of splitting and destroying anything within its path as long as it is within the caster’s power level such as oncoming attacks, defensive shields or even, the surrounding environment. Having such a large impact, the area of effect of the spell, however, is a mere 20 meters and can only extend till that and moves at a speed of 10m/s. As the spell contains tortured souls from the depths of Hell, it causes a wave of misery and anguish to spread across the area of effect as well thus, overcoming an opponent with negative emotions.
Strengths:
o Fluctus Mortuus allows the caster to split or destroy anything within its path, regardless of its nature.
o The wave of misery and anguish that spreads is capable of distracting an opponent and making them lose their will to fight.
o The distance of the spell is quite large, hence, effecting opponents among a larger distance.
Weaknesses:
o Due to the fact that the spell can not only attack but also, mentally weaken the enemies, it requires an overall of 15% MP.
o The effect of the spell, both physical and mental or emotional weakens depending on the number of opponents there are. The more they are, the less the effect.
o If the opponents are stronger in power than the caster; in most cases, the mental and emotional effect of the spell is very less or almost nil.
o Due to the multitude of effects, the spell itself requires immense concentration and energy and can wear out the caster leading to a 5% HP reduction.

Description:
Kuroshitsuji is a spell cast by first wrapping the essence of Hell around a person and then, taking the form of a gigantic box in which the opponent is trapped within. Within the box, blades extend out from the inner walls of the box, which are not visible as they have not been given any form but only feeling which pierce through the opponent’s flesh. After that, the box disappears into mid-air, the essence which it comprised of returning back to Hell. The box is approximately 15 feet tall and wide; enough to encompass the opponent and the area of effect of the spell is only around the area the opponent is trapped within.
Strengths:
o As the blades inside the box are invisible, it is difficult to evade them.
o This spell not only attacks the opponent, but also traps them within a certain area, rendering it difficult to escape.
o The walls of the box are quite strong hence, outside attacks can be deflected, only until B-Rank.
Weaknesses:
o Kuroshitsuji has only a small area of effect, only the one around the opponent.
o This spell is only capable of entrapping one person at a time; not more than that.
o For every time the box is attacked from the outside, Laycie’s HP reduces by 5%.
o Considering the fact that this spell not only attacks the opponent but traps them as well and is capable of deflecting attacks, it costs Laycie 10% extra MP to use this spell.
