Ardere cracked his knuckles as he stepped into the arena, the crowd was cheering and chanting the two mage's names. This was the first time he had ever been in an arena duel, but it was a good way to earn notoriety in the country that was Fiore. Even though it was his first time, the fire mage was not nervous, he didn't even shake. He would keep walking towards the center where he would meet his opponent, the two would even start three meters apart. The crowd continued to yell and cheer, but it did not phase the red haired mage. He clinched his fist tight and swallowed any fear that was left in his heart, this was not a fight he intended on losing. As much as he loved to read, he loved to fight. All of the years he had spent training were for events such as this, and he would not put it to waste. The announcer was speaking to the audience, and he gave them both of their names before pressing a button. The arena would shake back and forth, as trees began to rise from the floor. The ground was still cement, but the trees would provide both cover and ways to move around quickly. Might as well. Cracking his neck, the fire king would wait for the announcer to state the commencement of the fight. He did not have his sword, and his tattoos were shut off, but the flame god slayer was adept to fighting like this. His strength was not in his items, but in his magic.

Brennan slowly stepped into the arena as the crowd cheered. This wasn't his first arena battle, but it was definitely his first real battle using the magic that Gaia had taught him: Earth God Slayer Magic. Brennan ran his fingers through his silver hair as he took a fighting stance, this was bound to be interesting. As the announcer spoke to the audience, trees erupted from the cement floor. Brennan was disappointed with this cement floor, after all, he was used to having a limitless supply of accessible Earth. But that was no matter, Brennan could deal with not having Earth, after all, he had been waiting forever to fight with this new magic of his. As the announcer spoke to the audience, Brennan quickly ran through some of the possible scenarios of the battle, but they were limited, after all, he wasn't entirely sure what his opponent did. But that was not a worry for Brennan, he could take this guy in his sleep.

Ardere would wait for the announcer to start the battle but before he did, he would move back to five meters away from his opponent, and as soon as he said "Go" the fire mage would blast flames from his feet, attempting to send himself up into the trees at ten meters per second. The flames would deal no damage to his opponent, even though they were in close proximity to each other. The black flames were mainly just to launch himself into the trees, and gain the high ground. If his move was successful, he would be up in the trees ten meters above his opponent, and a bit back due to their original positioning at the start up of the fight. Needless to say, he planned on taking this fight into the higher elevation. He was unsure of what magic his opponent possessed, but whatever it was he was sure it would not do as well in the trees. His fire magic was destructive, and corrupted. He could break these trees to pieces, and use them to move around quickly. Not many mages of his rank were as adept in acrobatics as he was. He spent every day of his life reading books to gain knowledge, and training his body to become stronger. His mind and his body were supposed to be one, as he was taught many years ago. Ardere kept his focus on his opponent, and their surroundings. It was in his nature to observe his opponent, he needed to know every move he was going to make, it was how he fought.

Black Flames... how interesting, was it possible that this man possessed God Slaying Magic as well? No matter, Brennan could still win. Since the man was on a tree, the spell that Brennan was about to perform would be risky, but he had to try it. Brennan slammed his foot into the ground and yelled, "Earth God's Tremor!" The ground around Brennan began to shake, and in less than one second, it reached the man's tree, which was about 8 meters away. Any trees within a 10 meters radius began to shake violently, Brennan could only hope that this man wouldn't be able to hang on. As the tremor, which would hopefully distract the man, shook the trees, Brennan ran closer to the tree, and once again yelled, but this time, he yelled something else, "Earth God's Bellow!" Brennan screamed, and a stream of black earth, which would hit the man in less than 2 seconds, flew towards him, Brennan was sure that there was no way this man could dodge both of these spells, but there were bound to be some variables that he didn't account for. Going up against a fellow God Slayer was already unexpected, so Brennan just had to hope that there would be no more surprises. Brennan watched as his Bellow flew towards the man, and his tremor shook, and hoped for the best. Brennan had gauged the man's strength after his first spell, and he appeared to be around the same strength as Brennan himself, which meant that this could very well be anyone's battle.

Once Ardere had landed on the tree, he would begin to feel it shake violently. Rather than holding on for long, he would hold on tightly for a second, then once he heard the man call out the name of his spell, he would use the shaking as partially momentum to jump to another tree. The other tree was only three meters away closer to his opponent, and it was five meters taller than the one he jumped from. Catching the tree branch on the tree, he knew the tree he had previously been on would be shredded to pieces from whatever spell had been fired at him. His current elevation would still be ten meters, but once he caught the tree branch he would immediately pivot his body to turn to face his opponent. Using the momentum of his original jump, he would go from tree branch another branch a meter away at the same elevation. This was all one motion, and allowed him to dodge the spell as well as turn himself to face his opponent. Jumping down about three meters to grab a branch as he saw the roar destroy the previous tree he had been on, he would attempt to press his hand into the surface of the tree which was about three meters thick, and transfer fiery energy into it. 'Flame God's Rangarok', he thought. The tree would essentially explode around Ardere, leaving him unharmed. Bits of tree and fire would ripple through out the area, flying at all directions, including his opponent. If he was not interrupted somehow he would be closer to his opponent than before, but still high enough to be mobile. Unfortunately, this would also cause the rest of the tree to collapse, and fall towards his opponent. The explosion also reached two other trees, which their flaming bits would fly in all directions in addition to the trees collapsing. His opponent was no only in danger from his flames and the initial flaming bits from his spell, but the falling trees and their shards would help. It seemed his opponent was also a god slayer, but he was in for one hell of a fight. The trees around them were beginning to light on fire due to his probable explosion, and he could use that to his advantage later.
(The normal rubble/shards will only travel five meters, but the others are like extra environmental things that were affected by the spell)

Brennan wasn't exactly sure what had happened, he just saw an explosion, and his immediate response was to activate one of the abilities that came as a...perk with magic. 'Earthen Anatomy.' Brennan thought to himself, as he felt his skin harden, and turn into a hard, black earth. Brennan wasn't hit by any of the actual flames, but the rubble did deal some damage to him, even though it wasn't very significant. Brennan once again ran up to the tree that Ardere was on, and yelled, "Earth God's Bellow!" Black earth once again erupted from Brennan's house, flying at Ardere at a speed of 6 mps, and it would reach him in less than 2 seconds, and even if it didn't reach him, it would still destroy the tree. Brennan felt that his battle would draw out for much longer than he would like, but he knew he would win, after all, he had a secret weapon on his side. Brennan waited for the man's response after his signature Bellow, trying to formulate an attack plan, but he was at a loss, Ardere was way too unpredictable, even for him. And for an Earth mage like Brennan, it was especially hard to fight targets who weren't on the ground. Brennan needed a way to get Ardere grounded, but unless he got below ten feet up, there was no way for Brennan to do that, unless he could somehow get up onto the treetops himself, but that would render many of his spells useless, so he had no choice but to stay here, and try to lure Ardere back onto the ground. So, he said, "Earth God's Cocoon. and was immediately enveloped in a cocoon of black earth. Brennan had to hope that Ardere would get onto the ground to try to destroy it.

Ardere couldn't tell his opponent's exact reaction, but he could tell that his move was not in vain. Hanging on the tree for a moment to see what the earth god slayer would so, he noticed him move in fast. Leaping over to the tree three meters away, he saw that same bellow of earth demolish the tree he had been previously standing on. The main reason he could keep up, due to his natural speed boost as a mage, and his airborne techniques. The bellow was not extremely fast, but it did seem to hit the hell out of the trees. Blasting flames from down here would do no good he thought, so as soon as he landed on the next tree, he activated his lineage. Gaining control of all of the shadows in a fifty meter area, he could see his opponent was surrounded in earth, perhaps some form of a defensive spell. Luckily with this linage, he would never have to leave the trees, or at least not yet. All of the trees gave off shadows, even his opponent's spell would. Using the shadow coming from a tree about a meter away from the other god slayer from behind, he lifted that shadow up, and turned it into a spike to smash through his defenses. Expecting an immediate response, he took the shadow of another nearby tree, only three meters from his opponent, and turned that into a shadow spike to hit him. Both of these spikes would come from behind the user, but this did not mean they were ensured to hit. They were highly probable to hit, and do what they needed to do, but nothing was ever for sure until it happened. All of the shadows he controlled were of his rank in power, so he was not merely hitting him with weak shadows. The fire mage fully intended on winning this battle.

Brennan wasn't exactly sure what was happening, but he heard something smash into his cocoon, destroying it. Brennan ignored the damage it dealt, and used his stat boost as a God Slayer to dodge the other shadow, it wasn't easy, but he managed to do it. Brennan then roared "Earth God's Bellow!" And continued running, destroying the trunk of 10 trees, including the one the Fire God Slayer was on. Brennan knew that there was no way the God Slayer could get on another tree, since he had destroyed all of the ones close to the one he was on, but he couldn't help worrying, after all, it could be done, if you were skillful enough. Brennan stood there, panting, watching how the Fire Mage would react. Brennan wasn't really tired at all, not physically, but mentally, this battle was starting to wear him out. At this point, there was really no reason to cast any spells, not offensively at least. Soon after he finished his Bellow, Brennan cracked his back, and readied himself for anything, after all, there was no telling what this Fire God'S Disciple would do. Brennan then felt his body get warmed, as his wounds were healed by the blood of his ancestors, he was ready for anything this Slayer could throw at him, anything. Brennan was thankful for his ancestry, after all, blood that heals your wounds quicker than essentially everyone else in the world is not something Brennan could complain about. Not in the very least, after all, it was extremely useful in battle.

Ardere focused on his opponent, not taking his eyes off of him and his actions. It seemed he was able to dodge the second shadow spike, but the first one had shattered the dome as he predicted. As he saw his opponent use his roar, he lifted up the shadows coming from the tree he was on to form a shield to block the roar, keeping the tree from being damaged. Rather than taking any time to dilly dally, the fire mage would perform another move with his lineage. Taking the shadows of all of the trees behind him, since most of the ones in front of him were destroyed, he began to create living shadows that appeared similar to him, almost like shadow clones. Each clone was as powerful as he was in terms of damage, dealing C rank. By using the shadows of the trees behind him, he made ten clones. Each clone was three meters apart, and were no less than a meter behind the flame god slayer. Commanding these clones to attack, they would bolt towards Sky staying three meters apart until they got closer and could not do so. Six close would go head on, while two would arc around to his right, and two others to his left. His goal was to attack his opponent with the shadows from all sides. Each clones would attempt a punch if they arrived at their destination. While the clones bolted, he would take Sky's own shadow and turn it into a spike to hit him. Take that. Hoping he could at least put in some damage here, he was attempting to use his lineage to it's full potential. As the clones were attacking, Ardere covered his entire body, aside from his eyes, in the shadows from the branch he was standing on. These shadows would act both as an armor, and for melee attacks. He was a fire mage through and through, but he would have to sacrifice that for a bit to take on an earth mage, who's element took twice as much to beat with fire. If he could at least cause his opponent to waste mana, he would be happy.

Brennan felt his body turn back to skin, as it was stone, thanks to an ability he had as the Earth God Slayer. As soon as Brennan's body returned to normal, he saw the fire mage create clones of himself, made of shadows. Brennan knew that he could dodge the shadows, although, it wouldn't be easy, given he would have to dodge six clones, almost simultaneously. Brennan watched as the clones dashed towards him, coming at him from all directions. As they approached, Brennan spun himself in a circle, almost like a tornado, and yelled "Earth God's Bellow!" The earth that erupted from Brennan's mouth flew towards each of the clones, if they did not change their trajectory, they would be destroyed. As Brennan performed this move, he was unaware of his shadow bursting up from the ground, forming a spike, which would graze his back, given his current position. Brennan winced as the spike flew past him, ripping part of his white T-Shirt, but it wasn't a deep wound, he would probably be fine.

Ardere watched as his opponent roared earth around like some sort of tornado, quite the impressive feat, but the battle was far from over. His shadow clones were unsuccessful, but the spike was not. Strangely enough, even though he kept repeatedly dealing damage to this man, he seemed to be fine. Whoever this man was, he was not actually bad. Keeping his eyes focused on his opponent, he watched as he began to make the earth shake again. Gripping his tree tight, the fire mage would jump back a bit as he saw his opponent make his way onto a nearby tree. It would seem the other god slayer wanted to even the odds by also taking to the trees, this he could not allow. Pushing his firt forward, he was instantly encased in black flames and launched like a rocket at his own tree. Flame God's Crash, he thought to activate the spell. Slamming into the tree, he bashed through the bark and kept his hands out to push. Pushing a large chunk of the tree with him, about 5 meters long and 2 meters thick, he would fly towards his opponent who was no more than 5 meters away. Due to his traveling speed, he would be there extremely fast, and it was highly unlikely his opponent would dodge not only due to the speed but due to what he had noticed about the earth mage's fighting style. Normally if he hit an opponent with this spell, a knock back would be caused. The fire king for the most part, was using this knock back on the tree to push it with him. The mass of the tree would be used to take the brunt of any attacks, but the flames encased Ardere would still deal damage. Leaving a trail of flames behind him, he looked like some form of a rock with a tree in front. It would be an odd sight to the audience, yet they cheered anyways.

Brennan smirked, finally, the Fire God Slayer had gotten close enough to Brennan for him to be able to even the playing field. Brennan reacted as fast as he could, and as soon as the Fire God Slayer started flying towards him, Brennan began casting his spell. "God Slayer's Secret Art!" Brennan chanted quickly, "Gaia's Violent Tremors!" As soon as the God Slayer was in the vicinity of his spell, the cylinder enveloped the both of them, and they would both be trapped. As soon as he was done chanting that spell, Brennan yelled, "Earth God's Cocoon!" So, there was a circular wall surrounding Brennan and Ardere, 15 meters away from Brennan, going up 5 meters. The ground of the cylinder then began to shake, and it would deal 100% C-Rank damage to Ardere, unless he had some way to counter it. As long as Ardere was in the circle, he would have his speed decreased by 50%, while Brennan would have his attack and defense decreased by 25%. Brennan activated his Earth God's Cocoon to not take any damage from the tree. However, the tree shattered the cocoon, and Brennan took some damage. He then emerged from the rubble, ready to fight the Fire God Slayer.
Brennan ran towards the God Slayer, and when he was only about three meters away, he roared, "Earth God's Bellow!" And Earth once again erupted from his mouth, and this time, being so close, it would hit the Fire God Slayer in less than a second. And, due to his speed decrease, it would be very difficult to dodge the Bellow.

Ardere blasted through the air, and slammed right into the shield his opponent created around himself, causing some dust and smoke between the two. It seemed during his attack, some sort of wall had formed above and around him. He felt the tremors and was hurt slightly, but he was hurt significantly less than if he had been on the ground or the tree. Just as he broke through his opponent's shield, he began to fall down. The dust had barely even settled when he fell. As he fell, he would touch the tree Sky was on. Transferring fiery energy into the tree, he thought to himself Flame God's Ragnarok, and would cause a massive explosion that ripped throughout the tree he was on. There were essentially no other trees for Sky to jump onto as they had either been destroyed or cut off by the walls. If Sky was hit head on, not only would he take damage from the explosion but from him hitting the ceiling his wall made. Amidst the explosion, the fire mage would use the cover he now received to blast flames from his feet thinking Flame God's Heel. For a quick moment, the flames would just slow his descent, but he quickly maneuvered himself to launch at an angle. The single direction he chose to be launched in was diagonally towards the edge of the wall. At the angle he chose, he would be about three meters above the ground when he fell from his launch. The explosion, smoke, and flaming tree bits that flew upwards would make sure he was not seen while he did this. During the duration of the attempted flight he looked back towards Sky to make sure his opponent activated no moves, he didn't want to be hit during his flight. He could tell his speed was slowed, for as he attempted to run towards the edge of the wall he could tell he was slightly faster than before. Luckily, he was naturally faster than most mages anyways and could still reach the wall fairly quickly. If he made it to the wall, he would lay out four punches to try and break it, just in case it did not break immediately.

The tree that Sky was on top of suddenly exploded, and he took the damage full on. And, since apparently his cylinder had not formed a floor, which it should have, as he had clearly thought out in his mind he simply jumped to the ground and walked out of the arena. He had gotten a taste of the Flame God Slayer's strength, and now he was bored. He then proceeded to lie down behind the building and sigh. He could not even execute his own spells correctly, he did not know why his spell had failed, but he knew that it shouldn't have. He knew that he was much stronger than the Flame God Slayer, and if his spell had not failed miserably, he would have won this battle, no doubt about it. The failed spell was extremely frustrating, it was not something that happened to him often. His element, Earth, had a natural elemental advantage against the element of Fire, but his spell had not been executed properly, and therefore, his loss was almost guaranteed. Perhaps the Flame God Slayer had sabotaged him. Yes, that would most definitely make sense, however, they first came into contact during the battle, but that would not be possible, not at all. Brennan sighed and walked as far away from the arena as he possibly could. No, not the arena, the Flame God Slayer. At first, Brennan ran, and then, he slowed down, and then, he started kicking rocks as he slowly walked, to nowhere in particular.

Ardere watched as his opponent forfeited, the audience was disappointed, and so was he. Well, that's a bummer. Sliding down the tree he sighed, running pale fingers through his hair. The two had been fairly evenly matched, though the flame god slayer had landed most of the hits. Just by looking around the arena, it was evident that their battle had been epic. Trees turned to ash, bits of earth all over the place. He had been enjoying it up until then, but he was saddened by the forfeiting. Walking over to the announcer as the arena turned back to normal, his hand was pulled up as he was declared the winner. Smiling slightly, he was not the best with crowd, but he could handle it. Taking little damage he doubted he would need medical attention, but he had a feeling they would check him out regardless. Next time he entered this arena, he would be holding his sword. He almost felt naked without the sword, he had it for so long that it had become a part of him. As skilled as he was in hand to hand combat and how much he loved it, he was a swordsman in his heart. The fisticuffs skills were just so he could hold his own if he was disarmed, and so his flame god slayer techniques would be more useful. Waving to the audience slightly, he left the arena. He had planned on coming back, it was an interesting experience. Fighting for fame and glory was not necessarily his thing, but being well known would help in his future endeavors. Gripping his fist tightly, the fire king vowed to return stronger than before. Since entering Sabertooth, he had grown an affinity for power. Gaining strength was useless without purpose though, so he would use it for good, as cliche as it sounded.
