The day was bright but windy, the baking sun's rays managing to still have an affect on Irene's temperament-- despite the chilled air.  The girl walked along at a brisk pace, her hair hanging down, the tips still damp from her shower only an hour earlier.  According to a few mages she had exchanged insults with in Talonia, there was an arena around here some where-- and the mages who participated could smash Irene into the ground.  Shrugging at that possibility, the young mage continued on her way until an enormous building loomed in the distance, hovering over the nearby stores and restaurants.  The raven haired girl paused in her travel and glanced up at the structure, continuing on her way after a brief moment.  The building itself wasn't at all intimidating, and she was positive that her opponents would be the same; even if it wasn't Irene's style to underestimate her enemies, she was sure that none could possibly pose a threat.

Several minutes later, the girl stepped into the building, blinking at the abrupt change from the bright outdoor sunlight to artificially lit rooms.  Irene glanced around, debating whether to scout her opponents to find the more powerful ones-- ultimately, she entered her name into a raffle, deciding that even if a random opponent may not pose the greatest challenge, she also wouldn't have any sort of advantage over him or her.  The butterfly girl might not have been the most honorable of mages, but she disliked the thought of cheating in any way  Upon signing the last few papers, which she hadn't bothered to look over, Irene walked over to a nearby set of bleachers, waiting for her name to be called.  There seemed to be several battles going on at once-- this arena held more than one area, and the girl wondered absentmindedly which she and her opponent would end up fighting in.

After waiting for a decent period of time, at least a half an hour, her name was called over the loudspeaker, along with that of a stranger.  The mage didn't bother to mark down the name in her memory-- she could always ask while facing her opponent, either before, after, or during-- if she thought it was worth it, of course.  The girl recalled the number of the area which had been announced along with the pair's names.  Arena 1E, huh? she thought, scanning the numbers which were pinned above the areas, hanging from the ceiling in a banner type fashion.  Eventually the mage made her way over to one of the larger areas in the corner, slipping inside after proving that she was Irene.  The area within wasn't particularly interesting... a medium to soft sandy floor, with a wide, arching ceiling.  The sides were made of enchanted glass, which wasn't able to break-- after all, onlookers could be hurt if it was. And even if the arena owners and staff didn't mind, being blamed for permanent injuries from wayward magic was never a desirable thing.

It was just a normal day, and Brennan was rather bored. He was just sulking, nowhere in particular, when he remembered an Arena that he had heard of just the other day. H shrugged to himself and decided that he might as well participate in a fight, after all, he had nothing in particular to do. Brennan approached the Arena about an hour later, and stared at the building, it was a little dull, but Brennan had no manner of knowing how his opponents would match up with him. He had varied from his normal clothing style today, he was wearing blue jeans and a black shirt, however, instead of a plaid shirt, which he would normally wear, he wore a plain black cloak, that went down to the bottom of his ankles, potentially inhibiting his movement, but he didn't really care, at the moment.

Brennan entered the building, and decided that he was up for a little bit of a surprise. He would enter his name in a raffle, allowing him to face a random opponent, who could have pose a challenge, or could be the easiest opponent who he had ever faced. Brennan was sure that this would be interesting, or at least more interesting than sulking.

At least half an hour later, Brennan heard his name called, after the name of a female, Brennan couldn't quite remember the name, he just knew it was the name of a girl. "Arena 1E..." Brennan muttered to himself, hoping to forget the arena. Brennan eventually found a banner presenting the arena in a larger area of the lobby and walked through, being presented with a rather bland arena. The ground was made of a sort of soft sand, with an arching ceiling, the sides of which were made of enchanted glass, that could not break. Bring it on! Brennan thought to himself.

Irene strode over to the middle of the arena, waiting impatiently for her opponent to arrive.  Upon observing a boy a few years ago slip into the large area, the raven haired girl held out a hand for the boy to shake, despite the fact that he was so far away.  After all, walking over was an option... or flying, if they possessed wings like Irene.  Hers were hidden at the moment, though-- after all, it did no good to flash about her abilities before knowing this boy's.  Calling out in a friendly voice, despite the fact that they were about to fight, the female mage said, "My name is Irene, nice to meet you.  Good luck, I hope you'll enjoy."  She might have been dubious about whether the battle would be worth her time, but it never hurt to be nice.  Woe on those who would dare to call her a tsundere.

Irene continued to hold out her hand, waiting for her opponent to either comment saying that he wouldn't shake it-- that or attack her.  She knew that some people did act friendly towards each other during fights, but Irene typically preferred for there to be a straight line between enemies and allies, which was not able to be rubbed out or crossed in any areas.  However, sportsmanship was something that every mage should possess, even if they went about life like Irene did, taking what they wanted and doing most things on a whim.  The raven haired girl raised up her ruby-orange eyes to gaze at her opponent, despite the distance.  He was dressed oddly, and the girl had to resist the temptation to snort at what most definitely came off as trying to be mysterious.  If that was so, it had completely failed-- Irene could tell nearly everything besides physical appearance such as eye color and hair color, and perhaps even that once they began to move around.  Surely a glimpse could be caught at that time, if desired.

Brennan watched very carefully as the girl walked towards the middle of the arena, introducing herself as Irene, and holding out her hand for him to shake. Brennan unbuttoned his cloak, dropping it to the ground, and walked towards her, shaking her hand and saying, I'm Skyllon, good luck to you as well." He introduced himself by his last name rather than his first, just to confuse the girl. She was acting rather friendly, but he knew she wouldn't act like this in a fight and grinned, "Let me get us started!"Brennan walked back to the edge of the arena and shifted half of his vision to another dimension, giving his left eye a cloudy, unfocused look. He reached his hand into an alternate dimension, looking for a Hyper-Dimension Scythe, which he had grown quite familiar with. He knew that this would make him vulnerable to attacks for a short while, but it was necessary. Brennan stared at the girl with the eye that was still looking into his dimension while he searched for a Scythe, this girl had to be at least semi-strong, or else she wouldn't be here, there was no way this girl could be as innocent as she looked, but then again, so was he. As he stared at her, he said, "I'm done with my move, go ahead Irene." He was trying to come off as arrogant and commanding, he needed this girl to be intimidated, he couldn't have her thinking that he was a weakling.

As soon as the man began to channel a weird spell, Irene had attacked.  She didn't want to be hit full in the face by a spell, and immediately whipped a key off of her belt, which had been slightly obscured by an overhanging shirt.  "I summon the Huntress of Mapelonia!"  Her voice was delicate but had a furious undertone which stemmed from the fact of how rude and underestimating her opponent was-- but he would pay the price.  Once that was complete, the girl smiled as the Huntress rolled her eyes at the girl and turned to the opponent, her green hair plaited into braided pigtails.  "Well... I suppose I have to kill you now," was all that she said before raising her bow and sending an arrow flying at the boy.  One after another after another... the Huntress was free to attack, as she had no need to protect Irene at the moment.  A total of eight arrows shot at the boy from nearly all directions-- it should be impossible to dodge all of them.

Nodding in satisfaction, the girl raised up her arms and shouted, her amber eyes glowing but with a dark kind of light, "You will face judgement under Mapelonia today.  Prepare to die, Skyllon!"  She did have the other key if the Huntress was unable to complete the task.  But given that this boy seemed to be all bark and no bite... well, perhaps all eight of the arrows would hit.  And anyways, this boy would find that aiming for Irene may not be the best choice when the Huntress is summoned... yes, he would discover that fact soon.

Brennan whipped his Scythe out of an alternate dimension and snorted, eight arrows? Was the girl trying to annoy him? Brennan managed to block 4 of the arrows with his Scythe, but the arrows that did hit him dealt almost no pain to Brennan, as part of his consciousness was still lingering in an alternate dimension. "Tell me, Irene." Brennan said, chuckling, "What are you trying to do? Annoy me?" Brennan chuckled once again poising his Scythe in a combat position. This girl was being protected by the Huntress, so, Brennan attempted to annoy the two of them. "Why would I allow myself to face judgement under Mapelonia? No self-respecting person uses a bow and arrow." Brennan ran towards the huntress, not even trying to damage the little girl, and swung his Scythe directly towards the woman's bow, hoping to shatter it.

This girl wasn't weak, Brennan would give her that, but she wouldn't be able to beat him, not in a million years. Brennan decided that his Scythe alone wouldn't be enough to beat this girl, and shifted the vision in one of his eyes into another dimension, hoping to find a usable weapon. Brennan decided to find an Orb Dimension gun, after all, he could most definitely use some range, especially against a summoning mage, who had creatures to protect her. Suddenly, Brennan felt his blood flowing, healing him, the blood of his ancestors kept his strength intact. Brennan smirked, he knew that this girl was strong, but he was even stronger.

Irene examined the boy in front of her with complete boredom.  It seemed that he was overconfident, and was convinced that the fight was already over.  Well... he was completely wrong.  The Huntress glanced back at Irene as the scythe came arcing towards her bow, and the raven haired girl gave a barely perceptible nod.  In the next instant, the Huntress cast a spell-- Boredom Call, and Irene dove in front of her summon, shoving her out of the way of the arcing scythe.  Once she was no longer being threatened, the Huntress went ahead and fired another fleet of five arrows before dissipating into a shower of golden dust.

Irene's wings flared out as soon as her summon disappeared, dark butterfly wings blocking the attack and sending a recoil of damage back, thanks to the passive rebound damage.  There was no sign of it being sent out-- and therefore he couldn't possibly dodge that.  How had the annoying boy dodged half of the Huntress's arrows earlier, anyhow?  Shrugging to herself and unfurling her wings, which were completely undamaged, the raven haired girl immediately threw another black key up into the air.  "I summon the Mistweave of Karleya!  Assist me in removing the pride from an arrogant soul!"

Then after a split second delay, a young woman with a very plain appearance, materialized directly in front of Skyllon, lashing out with her hand at the same time.  The Mistweave did powerful amounts of damage, and Irene could already see her beginning to dissolve into her typical shape-- a thick cloud of mist.  Due to how close he was to the summon, Irene was positive that her opponent would be damaged passively by the fog.  Nodding to the Mistweave, Irene spoke softly.  "Obscuration."  Because her opponent seemed to match her in strength-- possibly he was less powerful, of course-- his attacks within the next few minutes would not be able to hit.  The Mistweave's spell would obscure his vision.

Brennan was getting bored, he wanted to get this over with, win or lose, so he ran into the mist, pulled his gun out of an alternate dimension and activated the effects of both of his weapons. Ultimate Pathway! He thought, and the Scythe began to glow, and then, he thought Homing Dimensions! And three Orbs, specifically tailors to hit Irene were shot towards her. Brennan then felt explicable pain, he was inside this black mist, but he felt pain, why should he feel pain in mist? When Brennan spotted Irene, he swung his Scythe at her, hoping it would hit, but it didn't hit, he swung over and over, seemingly unable to hit the girl. All he could do was hope his Orhs would hit. Brennan was worried, he might lose, and that would not be a good thing, he wanted to beat this little girl, but she seemed to be even stronger than he was! Brennan tried to get out of the mist, but he could not find his way out! He was stuck in here, feeling an inexplicable pain, that seemed to be coming from the mist itself.

This was bad, Brennan was going to lose, and there was nothing he could do about it! He had to get out of this mist, but he simply stumbled and fell, his Scythe and gun both clattered to the side, both completely useless. "I'm so screwed..." Brennan muttered to himself, hoping Irene wouldn't hear. Brennan knew that he would lose, there was nothing he could do. And then, to make matters worse, his Scythe dissolved.

(( Upon asking Skyllon, we have figured out that the orbs can miss, if there are 2 heat sources / 2 magic sources to confuse which one to latch onto.  And, seeing as he couldn't have directed them in the correct direction due to the mist's effect [unless he uses dispelling abilities or whatnot], this combined with the fact that the mist is filled with magic should have caused them to miss.  However, given that the mist IS made out of magical power and the orb thingys suck it out, it's safe to say that my summon will have to be sent back to the spirit world.  ))

Irene gaped at the boy-- he was some how still sending out spells despite the fact that he probably had no vision at the moment, which she couldn't fathom.  His reasons had to have been good ones, but either way, the spells didn't hit.  Nonetheless, it seemed that the odd swirly orbs of magic had absorption properties, for the Mistweave was abruptly dissipated within a few seconds of his sending them out.  The girl's expression darkened, and her wings flared out once again as the creature disappeared, forcefully sent back to the spirit world.  The girl flew up to the ceiling, high up out of range-- she was at least forty meters off the ground.  Hovering up in the air, Irene frowned and debated her next course of action... and eventually a smile flitted across her face, although it was tight and more than a bit annoyed.

"Shall we play the dodging game for a little while?" she whispered before setting her body into a relaxed position, ignoring everything that the boy was doing down below.  She was becoming a bit bored with this, and perhaps it would be amusing to see him struggle.  Or if he had no willpower or patience, the other mage might yell insults and make the mistake of letting his guard down.  "I'm bored," she repeated out loud, yawning and waving lazily to her opponent down below.  Her wings were gently flapping the entire time-- she could fly much swifter than this and normally would have, but there was no motivation to.  Irene typically needed a reason to put effort into things.

"So boy, what are you going to do?"  Irene ignored the fact that she was a few years younger than her opponent-- age didn't matter when it came to magical ability, anyways.  If it did, she probably would have been crushed already.

Brennan chuckled, the girl was trying to be arrogant, and with those butterfly wings of hers, it didn't really work out. She just floated there, waiting for him to attack her, but Brennan had something better in mind. His left eye once again gained a cloudy look, as he searched an alternate dimension for one specific piece of armor, the Light Defense Armor. Brennan knew he stood a chance against her using that armor, and he needs to get it on him, ASAP. Brennan knew that this girl wasn't putting her full strength into this fight, and that worried Brennan, as he was fighting as hard as he could. However, Brennan knew that if he could land a hit on this girl, she would get hurt, and fast, and she didn't have the health regeneration or the pain avoidance that he possessed.

Brennan aimed his gun at the girl, and fired once, twice, three times, however, he did not aim at the same spot, as he knew that the girl would move in response to his action. The way he had aimed, it would be nearly impossible to dodge all three orbs, however, Brennan had learned not to underestimate this girl, and it was possible that she would dodge all three, all Brennan could do was hope. As he shot, Brennan was still skimming through an alternate dimension for his Light Defense Armor, after all, it was the only way that he could manage to balance out this fight.Brennan had to hope that this girl wouldn't send any more Spirits at him, as he probably wouldn't be able to handle anything else like the Mistweave.

(( The average human reaction time is 215 milliseconds... also, assuming that Irene's reflexes are slightly better because she's a mage.  I asked via the chatbox and the bullets go at a speed of 10m/s, slowing down to 5m/s after 5m.  So then Irene would have 30m+ between her and Skyllon when the bullets are going at 5m/s... so at least 6 seconds.  Given the human reaction time, that's enough time for Irene to fly safely out of the way, even if it wouldn't be enough for her to dodge by simply weaving around the bullets. ))

The girl glanced up at the ceiling for a split second, gauging how close she was.  Then immediately afterwards Irene smiled back down at the boy, deciding not to taunt him any more.  But why wasn't he attacking-- ah!  The female mage's opponent raised up his right arm, firing three bullets directly at her, but their positioning was such where she would have an incredibly difficult time dodging them without highly increased agility, above human levels.  But there was a much easier solution, and Irene had enough time to fly straight to her right, pushing off of the reinforced glass wall and flying at a moderately swift speed, slightly faster than the average person could sprint.  She didn't bother trying to dodge the bullets, since the girl would probably have been hit by at least two-- fortunately though, they had seemed to decrease in speed by at least half after going a little ways, and Irene was able to fly to safety.

After gathering her composure once again, the girl flitted around for a little while, circling before landing lightly on the opposite side of the arena from Skyllon.  This battle seemed to be dragging on and on, far longer than Irene would have liked-- so perhaps she would be forced to resort to using her ultimate weapon.  The mage had landed because she figured that it could become boring should she have stayed in the air any longer.  Summoning the Priestess was not necessary due to the fact that Irene was not injured quite yet-- but that was mostly thanks to the passive buffs to her agility from Mapelonia's Huntress, as well as her wings' mobility and ability to increase the distance between herself and the opponent.  Shrugging, the girl smirked and lifted up her right arm, extending a finger with the palm of her hand facing herself-- the universal sign for "Come come."

Ridiculous. The girl was trying to taunt him. And then, Brennan spotted the armor he needed, and pulled it out from another dimension. As the armor automatically linked to his body, he smirked, after all, this armor would even out the playing field, once and for all. Brennan watched as it enveloped his body, finally giving him some much needed protection. And then, his smirk hidden by the armor's faceplate, Brennan flew up into the air, gaining much needed proximity, before firing his gun five more times, and just as soon as the fifth shot was fired, the gun dissipated into thin air, as if it had never even existed. No longer more than 10 meters away from Irene, the bullets would travel much faster, and since they weren't all aimed at a single spot, it would hopefully be much harder for the girl to dodge his bullets. Brennan simply floated in the air, watching Irene's reaction to the bullets. He needed a weapon, but he was running low on mana, so he would simply wait it out and hope his bullets hit. Brennan knew that he didn't have that much longer to fly, so he would simply have to make the best of this. He flew towards the girl, removing one of the gauntlets of his armor, and attempted to make physical contact with her, hoping his ancestors would come through for him and allow him to contaminate this girl with his Immortal Blood. If Brennan could not manage to come in physical contact with her, well then he would need another strategy.

Irene immediately copied the boy as soon as soon as he began to levitate into the air.  A few moments after, her eyes caught the movement of his right hand, and she flitted back to the ground, throwing herself flat against it.  Nonetheless, she still ended up being grazed by two of the bullets, even if it wasn't a serious injury.  Additionally, the annoying little things somehow managed to stick to the mage, and she could feel some kind of magical drainage occurring.  But then... well, Irene's slight smirk grew into a wide smile.  This opponent was a light user, and she had taken hardly any damage from the bullets, which had also only grazed her despite the fact that they decided to latch on upon contact.  And now the pesky little boy was moving around again, flying forwards to touch her?  The girl's wings snapped out and she flew backwards with a great whoosh, putting some distance in between them before landing a great deal away.  Throwing up a black key into the air, the girl whispered, "I summon the Huntress of Mapelonia.  We, the darkness, shall destroy your light."  The last part was directed at the boy-- even if his shield and armor normally would have stopped the Huntress's arrows, they were enchanted to pierce straight through any armor which was formed out of either light or unholy elements.  This boy was doomed.

Immediately after being summoned, the Huntress began to shoot at Skyllon, her arrows dark but pure and cleansing.  A fleet of eight flew at the boy-- he could probably dodge some of them, but many would hit.  Irene was confident in the Huntress's ability to dodge, and allowed her to get closer to the boy, in order to aim much better.  If even a single arrow hit, the armor would break.  Another two arrows were shot at the boy within the next few seconds.  Because of the enchanted effect, they also would do more damage if they were to hit-- this boy was a light user, after all.  Oh, how fortunate for Irene... and perhaps, unfortunate for the boy.  The Huntress had enhanced senses above Irene's-- and the raven haired girl was blessed with the keen eyes of hunting raptors.  Her summon could hit any target at the longest range possible-- unpredictably moving targets as well, so it would only depend on how well the boy managed to dodge.

Brennan was getting bored, this battle was dragging on way to long for his taste. Brennan simply let those arrows hit him, before simply walking out of the arena, on the surface, he was calm, and simply bored, but deep down, he knew that he was going to lose this battle. "I'm bored." Brennan said, as he walked out of the arena, "I hope we'll battle again in the future." Brennan calmly paced out of the arena, out of the building, and walked, nowhere in particular. He knew that he had to train, that girl was at least three years Junior to him, and she had basically wrecked him. Brennan needed to do something, his magic as it was, was one of the weakest he had ever encountered, he thought, as he plucked the arrows out of his body. He knew that he needed to train, or totally revamp his magic, because he could not go about doing doing anything in his current condition. Brennan snapped one of the arrows in half and threw it behind him, more frustrated than he ever had been. A thirteen-year-old summoner like that girl should not be able to beat a sixteen-year-old like him. But of course, with a magic his, virtually anyone could beat him, no matter how much they sucked at performing magic. Brennan sighed and kicked some rocks, and just sort of walked. Brennan didn't know what he was going to do, he just knew that he was going to walk, and do nothing in particular. Eventually, Brennan arrived at a forest, and walked inside, falling asleep on top of a tree.

Irene was just about to summon another spirit and allow the Huntress to leave the mortal plane, when her opponent suddenly decided to give up. She had noticed that the battle seemed to be dragging on a little bit, but the idiotic boy had gotten on her nerves before, especially with trying to intimidate her-- therefore, Irene had had no intention of simply giving up the battle. Instead, she had decided to try to end it quickly and had been debating about whether to summon Gemini... and now this mage was giving up? What did he say-- that he was bored? What a stupid reason! The raven haired girl narrowed her eyes; although she herself did things mostly only for fun, she never gave up if she was losing. This boy was definitely getting on her nerves now, and Irene slipped the Golden Zodiac Key off of the ring on her belt. Just as she was preparing to throw it in the direction of the retreating mage, his next few words registered.

Angry, Irene missed the chance due to her hesitation. As she watched the boy-- what was his name, Skyllon?-- leave the arena, her eyes darkened from amber to red. Oh yes, they would battle again some time in the future; and she wouldn't let him escape her. What a coward! Kicking at the ground, Irene stalked out of the arena, heading in the opposite direction. She wasn't even able to feel satisfied about her victory, since her opponent had simply ran away.
