There was an upbeat attitude to Enola’s walk as was typical of the maid. It seemed odd though, given the circumstances: she and her dear friend Hakumi Nazu were traveling through a thick jungle in search of some ancient ruins. “Treasure hunters,” the Magic Council had declared. A group of treasure hunters who dubbed themselves as the “Gem Brothers” were supposedly searching for some lost relics hidden away somewhere within the ruins. The job had intrigued Enola from the beginning; after all, who didn’t enjoy a good treasure hunt? Then again, it might have been nostalgia more than anything that seduced Enola into accepting the job. Although she had no desire to return, she somewhat missed her wilds years as… something other than a maid, a profession she vowed to keep secret.
Enola only brought Hakumi with her. Traveling with boys (especially the Leviathan boys) for hours seemed like too much, even for Enola. Furthermore, she had a strong curiosity about Hakumi. There were a myriad of personalities in Lamia Scale but none like that woman. Hakumi’s air gave Enola a down-to-earth feeling that the maid had missed since joining the guild. Thus it was, she decided to go on this job alone with Hakumi, if only for some treasure-hunting fun and perhaps to get to know her companion a little better.
Enola took in a deep breath of the jungle air, squinting a bit as the a few rays of light shone through the treetops. They had been walking for some time as Enola had opted out of bringing horses or mules (she abhorred such messy animals).
“Ms. Nazu, do you know how much farther until we arrive?” Completely map illiterate, Enola had left Hakumi in charge of the jungle map (which she had acquired from a tourist shop of course).
