Phenomena: Curse of the TATARI
Secondary Magic:The Ancestral Night: The Blood Dealer
Caster Type
Description
Phenomena is a kind of magic that deals with phenomenon born from humanity’s beliefs and is generally mistaken to be magic that can manipulate natural phenomenon however it’s possible to manipulate natural phenomenon through humanity’s own phenomena itself. The specialty of this magic turns fables, myths, rumors, superstitions, taboo and omen into a phenomenon to which they are realized into events depending on what it’s about. If for an example a small population were to believe in a famous ghost story such as the girl in the well, the said story will eventually come to fruition and a personified form of the story will come to existence and the girl in the well will no longer be just a fictitious ghost story but a real phenomenon. Since the Tatari was never part of this reality to begin with, conjuring something as similar wouldn’t pose much of a problem because he’s the main cause of space distortion going on around earthland and other areas. See Story
Facts can never be part of this magic because facts are valid scientific explanations as to how these things happen and everything about Phenomena are things that cannot be explained in a scientific way. Normally a mage’s body is a catalyst in order to bring forth the power of their magic but unlike Phenomena, its power is measured by the number of people who believe in the rumors along with the said fears of its realization. It’s also possible for the Tatari to take form of a person who the rumors are concentrated on.
A presented example of this is Person A is suspected to try murdering the Guildmaster among the guild members because he shows a haughty attitude towards the guild master. Though the power of the materialized rumor is measured by numbers, the manifestation of the Tatari can still exist whether it may be true or false. The Tatari will then take form of person A and will function just as how Person A was rumored, attempted murder of the Guildmaster.
Once the manifestation is established, the Tatari will then act accordingly and when the rumor is mature enough, it will kill the ones who created it and then disappear.
Lineage:
Tatari doesn't generally have a lineage for its tainted with different kinds of blood after devouring millions of lives. Fools actually had mistaken him for the ancient one even though he himself is an ancient of his own right, he's different and the only common thing they both share is that they familiarize themselves with the taste of blood and tracing it back to its ancestry.
- Strengths:
- The Power to Believe - Phenomena magic can realize superstitions and events; therefore it can be a terrifying force to deal with in communities that believed in them. The more people believe in it, the more power it gains and when these events are realized phenomena basically reinforces the thought of ever being true.
- The Indestructible Entity – Tatari in general is not human to begin with as it is a formless entity, it cannot be destroyed or vanquished, and however its manifestations can be defeated. This ability is only reserved to the Tatari and no one else since it was a phenomenon born from fusion and distortion.
Knowledge is Power – Unlike Memory-make and Archive Magic, Phenomena magic gathers information with abstract concepts, information that’s empowered by a strong feeling from an individual. The said information materializes as a Black Mist known as Malignant Information. Once the black mist is materialized, it cannot be intercepted by magic that can manipulate the information as it is in general a property of the Tatari itself. - Benefits may vary – There are a lot of ways to benefit from Phenomena Magic, having stored knowledge of malignant information is one of them. When one wishes to investigate a crime, malignant information can be gathered and when processed, can produce results, though not exactly accurate but something close as getting to the truth. The Tatari’s curse however can benefit others, if one believes they mastered kung fu, even though they don’t have sufficient training or met the physical requirements, as long as a strong feeling goes with the belief, the person can learn kung fu just as easy however in the process their consciousness becomes that of the phenomenon itself. These benefits of course have their limits. Mages who wish to learn Phenomena magic may use the Tatari system as long as they have a clear understanding of it.
- Assimilation – If by chance a person may have the same wavelength as the Tatari, they are at that point easy targets for possession. Once the benefits are applied and given they will act accordingly to their desire and once it has been realized, the said person turns into a phantom. If the Phantom isn’t defeated within the next thirteen days after possession, they will become Malignant Information and be part of the Tatari. This ability can only be reserved by the Tatari itself; no other mage can learn it.
- Blessed by the Sins of Humanity – Regardless, malignant information can never disappear as long as humanity doesn’t. The world of magic can be gone but the curse still remains and will be the longest living magic in all time.
- Words give meaning – As to what its states, words can sometimes bring consequences, jinx can no longer be just jinx once overwritten with Phenomena magic.
- Formless magic spells - Unlike most spells, Phenomena magic doesn't require arias or magic glyphs (Excluding for certain types of Arias that can bring an omen ) making it hard to predict whether the opponent itself has already made its move or not.
- The Power to Believe - Phenomena magic can realize superstitions and events; therefore it can be a terrifying force to deal with in communities that believed in them. The more people believe in it, the more power it gains and when these events are realized phenomena basically reinforces the thought of ever being true.
- Weakness:
- Isolation – Phenomena magic draws its power from populated communities or in lands that was said to have its own legend. If by chance a region doesn’t have anything special about it, Phenomena magic cannot be simulated and realized and the only possible source the Tatari can get by is through Traveler stories. There’s a huge power gap and therefore is one of the biggest disadvantages of this magic.
- Creation eats the Creator – May it been a lie or a theory, suspicion maybe, the manifested rumors will always come and go. In most cases these manifestations kill those who originally created them as a rumor (Which is a trait from the Concept of Warachia). When all those who feared and created it die, the personified rumor may never come again unless there are those who still believed in it. For that as long as there are believers, the form will continue to exist.
- Stolen Information - Phenomena cannot initiate without knowledge or malignant information. Mages such as Archive and Memory Manipulators can erase a said belief and therefore the rumor cannot be defined and be manifested. However if by chance that they deleted the definition of the said rumor while the Tatari is present, Malignant Information will automatically be extracted from them, thus recreating the rumor itself. At the very least it reduces the effectiveness of Phenomena Magic.
- The Heart can never be the brain – In the Tatari’s Case, it cannot control what manifestation it turns into and can only transform into the rumors present in the region. This however differentiates it from personification magic and transformation magic in general. This also applies to normal mages who practice phenomena magic.
- Harmful and Harmless – There’s an advantage that Phenomena practitioners have that the Tatari don’t and that is by using their beliefs as a catalyst to summon the rumors and manifest them regardless of where they are however for the Tatari who isn’t a human, this is the most heaviest restriction it has.
Unique Abilities:
- The Phenomenon:
- Ever since Tatari was born, magic involving Phenomena was made possible; Warachia in general is noted to be the FATHER of all Phenomena Magic. Warachia’s existence resides in the TATARI itself and is known as the very core of the TATARI. Even if Warachia’s existence in TATARI is no more, the phenomenon will continue to exist for all time as long as humanity exists.
Warachia’s Theory ( The Book of Warachia )
According to him, phenomena isn’t what we say magical in nature, rather it’s actually a space distortion that can affect reality. Reality is projected illusion within the hologram. It is a virtual experiment created in linear time to study emotions. Our hologram is composed of grids created by a source consciousness brought into awareness by at the physical level. The hologram is created and linked through a web, or grid matrixes. The hologram had a beginning and it has an end, as consciousness evolves in the alchemy of time. As the grids collapse, everything within the hologram will end, helping to understand what is going on in the world today. When Warachia fused with the power of Laplace Demon’s Eye (as well as other magics involved in the accident), he was sent through such a grid revealing the truth of the universe itself to him. Space distortions however are signs of damage to our reality, something like “glitches or bugs” and therefore making superstitions like “Step on a crack and you’ll break your mother’s back” into actual phenomenon. This only exists between the borders of fantasy and reality itself. Having damaged THIS REALITY, Phenomena magic was born and it was made possible, the only requirement to become a mage of such caliber requires one to understand the concept of phenomenon and its internal workings.
Laplace Demon is said to be something similar to a program that troubleshoots the hologram and in the process, interacted with a philosopher named Laplace. Warachia believed that the entity Laplace met was about to reach its conclusion and therefore embed his power into a gemstone, hence the reason for Laplace Demon Eye’s existence.
The TATARI
Tatari is the name of the Phenomenon but not the actual name of the person himself. It’s formless and is an entity that dwells in the distortion of space created by its birth. It’s considered to be irreparable and therefore gives rise to the possibility of reality’s collapse and therefore the Concept of Warachia has been hunted and the TATARI being kept under the watchful eyes by the Celestial Spirits, the beings that lived outside of time, making sure that there wouldn’t be any further damage to the reality we know today.
TATARI’s phenomena are generally mistaken with natural phenomena such as fire spreading in an isolated location, which is the natural fluctuation of space itself whereas TATARI’s phenomena are solely based on human beliefs. The reason why its solely based on human beliefs is because the TATARI is said to have a bit of human nature itself. It’s not a God, a monster, a mage rather it’s a source less existence.
There is however a possibility that natural phenomena can be manipulated which would only result in the collapse of reality itself if used frequently.
[color:781f=#ff9900]TATARI’s usage of Phenomena Magic
TATARI in general can never die but it can be defeated. Warachia himself is the Phenomenon not in the flesh but by spirit, causing him to be ageless. It was said that there’s a way to actually finding him and reverting him back to his form though methods are unknown at this point and have yet to be revealed.
TATARI often operates at night due to the form Warachia was cursed with when he fused with Laplace Demon’s Eye which is said to be nocturnal in nature. If Warachia isn’t the core of the TATARI and if it were someone else, it’s possible to actually have these manifestations during the day.
TATARI realizing abstract rumors with no signs of personifications is natural but TATARI operating personified rumors during the day is a rare occurrence. These occurrences aren’t TATARI but known as the Twelve Hours of the TATARI.
In addition having turning into a phenomenon himself, the TATARI is immune to all kinds of negative buffs and curses from spells but not from the damage that comes with it.
Occurrence of the TATARI
The Tatari is said to be something like the weather, like clouds it moves to different regions of Earthland, at times it could actually jump to other worlds but not realities (as like what happened the first time). To others who knew it, its considered as a kind of weather that brings misfortune to communities under it.
- Replicant Coordinator:
Summary
Replicant Coordinator is one of the primary abilities of the Tatari that allows the creation and manipulation of “Malignant Copies.” Malignant copies are personified rumors and are shaped according to humanity’s wishes. In order to create these copies or manifestations, there must be at least a rumor of a person, they could either be suspected or feared, as long as a strong feeling goes with the belief of the rumor. If the rumor cannot be personified, malignant copies can’t be created.Malignant CopiesGray Fullbuster, member of the fairytail guild. There were rumors from others that he’s secretly a dark mage who plans to eliminate all the fairytail members. Of course that’s not true and even if it is, as long as the rumor of Gray Fullbuster being suspected of attempting treason, a manifested copy of him can exist.
The part of it being a “Rumor" is considered to be extractable malignant information.
Malignant Information in general is the basis of all phenomena spells. It’s a collective amount of energy that contains information “BELIEVED” by others. Instead of the user’s body being a catalyst to phenomenon magic, the malignant information itself can be the catalyst instead.
Fullbuster’s malignant copy can exist as long as the rumor is alive and believed to be true. However if only a few people believe in it, the Malignant copy would have at least a portion of Fullbuster’s power. However if enough people believed in it let’s say around a hundred or so, the TATARI fullbuster will have the same power as Gray Fullbuster himself, difference is, the TATARI fullbuster will not have any limiters.
The term “Limiters” generally describes a person’s restraint. Gray Fullbuster makes sure he defeats his enemies and NOT KILL THEM.
Recurrence of Malignant Copies
Acting according to the rumors is a Primary objective of Malignant copies. The secondary objective of Malignant copies is to ensure that they will exist time and time again. In order to do so, eliminating those who have created the Rumor is necessary because they are those who sparked the wildfire. When the creators are dead, they will continue to exist and as long as there are witnesses to their actions, it will exist in cycles. If the creators of the rumors are still alive, they can bend the nature of the rumors and alter it and in most cases they can erase it, that is if they survive the fire itself. If the rumor is proven before the Malignant copy reaches maturation, the form of the malignant copy may never come again, otherwise it will continue to exist regardless.
Maturation of Malignant Copies
A Malignant copy may only be nothing short of immature if its only based on only one person's feeling, regardless of its strength, the malignant copy will not surpass the actual strength of the original. (TATARI Fullbuster will be weaker than Gray Fullbuster). Maturation requires it to spread to others and having them believe it as well, and if the creators are dead when it has its witnesses or had reached the required amount of people to believe it, it will reach maturation.
Composition and Nature of Malignant Copies
Unlike personification magic or transformation magic, there is no vessel required for it to take form other than malignant information. The Malignant Copy itself cannot be considered an image made of magic because its generally made from Malignant information. This however in any case makes it impossible for other mages to control the images because most of it isn't made from magic. Rather Malignant information which is manipulated by magic.
If the focus of the rumors is alive, it will imitate them, possess them, and change into them. They take on either the complete will of the original, only skewed towards the basis of the rumor, or sometimes may take on a mix of both the original and TATARI. They still act familiar with those close to them, but use TATARI's knowledge and mannerisms in latter cases. So the worst case scenario for Malignant copies in the fairytail canon story be Mirajane strauss.... or Gildarts.
Spells
- Malignant Information:
Rank: D
Type: Phenomena / Initiation
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 3 posts (Usually it can only be casted once)
Description: ] For any mage who practices Phenomena, they cast a bit of magic into the atmosphere covering an entire region or an area the size of a big town or a community. It’s what you say, an invisible bolt of energy that creates a transparent boundary field, once the area has been covered in its energy, malignant information can be extracted and is materialized by means of black mist. Those with unique abilities to see the nature of spirits and pure energy like Bixlow’s eyes can see the black mist as well as celestial spirits, according to Warachia, this magic can agitate Slayers. All in all the people in the affected area will experience an awkward feeling but only for a brief moment. Malignant Information is a requirement to create rumors that is set in the area where it is gained and cannot be used in any other area. Creating Phenomena without a basis is almost impossible.
Strengths:- There can be no indication of the spell being used, no magic glyphs or aria needed for the spell to cast.
- One can extract malignant information on themselves to which the belief alone can be a catalyst.
Weaknesses:- Cannot be casted regions without any malignant information at all
- Not made for combat, rather made for the preparation of Phenomena.
- There can be no indication of the spell being used, no magic glyphs or aria needed for the spell to cast.
- Malignant Copy:
Rank: D
Type: Phenomenon / Manifestation / Combat Support
Duration: Indefinitely during the night (In official duels, durable till it conjures an enemy spell)
Cooldown: 5 posts after cast
Description: The Tatari materializes the personified rumor, or the person centered in the rumors. It will act exactly like the original as well as according to how it was made to be. In addition it has no limiters like the original and serves the mage who casted it into existence. Expect that they are physically stronger but can easily defeated. If the copy is a mage, they will only conjure D rank spells to the best of their abilities.
Strengths:- Having no limiters, they are expected to be on the same level as a D rank mage or a cut above them.
- These rumors upon maturation might even have the ability to become an adversary to D rank mages and a pesky opponent to C ranks, this however depends on the mage itself.
Weaknesses:- If the Manifestation isn’t matured, they will flicker for that there isn’t enough people to believe in it.
- Immature Malignant Copies will now have at least 70% of the D rank Mage’s actual strength.
- Having no limiters, they are expected to be on the same level as a D rank mage or a cut above them.
- Phenomenal Motion:
Rank: D
Type: Phenomena / Support
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 2 posts
Description: A spell that allows the Tatari to take form of the manifested rumors and acquires the ability to conjure the Mage's spells. It also allows him to substitute him with a malignant copy or abandon it. If the malignant copy is defeated while Tatari is in it, it will disperse and causes him to take damage equal to that of what the copy took according to the user's rank. Damage intake is fixed, regardless of the opposition.
Status:
D mage - He receives 80% total damage
C mage - He receives 60% total damage
B mage - He receives 35% total damage
A mage - He receives 20% total damage
S and above - Receives 10% total Damage
Strengths:- The spell is a great way to reduce damage that could be received in battle as well as a method of ever escaping predicaments. This in turn can confuse opponents, causing them to hesitate and forcing them to choose targets carefully.
Weaknesses:- Because he cannot control what kind of malignant copy that will be produced, the copy's status will vary depending on the malignant information.
- Malignant Influence:
Rank: D
Type: Phenomenon / Buff
Duration: 3 post - must be triggered a post before or after a target is being jinxed.
Cooldown: 2 posts
Description: Manifestations isn’t the only purpose for Malignant Information, rather it’s a spell that’s focused on influencing its targets. Malignant Influence is said to either benefit or punish the target depending on the circumstances. As long as the caster has Malignant Information, it can be used to realize “jinxed” targets. Example: If someone says “Don’t fall off now” or “Don’t die on me” conditions will rise to make it happen or attempt to make it happen. “Don’t fall off” will cause the jinxed target to lose balance in all movements till they eventually fall off. “Don’t die on me” will increase the severity of injuries if they have any and will succumb to the pain.
Strengths:- As stated, Jinx can never be dodged and the target must go through the conditions till the effects fade.
Weaknesses:- As long as nobody jinx in the presence of the tatari, this will not happen.
- However in some cases, being jinxed can sometimes bring the buffed target to an advantage. Phrases like: "Break a leg" generally means good luck.
