The Grace of a Wizard?

The train ride to Clover seemed not to last that long. Just like that, Marcus arrived at Clover Town. He exited the train and stopped at the train station for a while, observing a map he had of Clover Town.
"Let's see. It should be around Clover River. So I should go north."
Marcus looked in the direction north was and put the map away. He began making his way to Clover River. Along the way, he had to try his best to stay as much out of the sun as possible. As Marcus passed through the shadows of the houses and overhangs of buildings, he finally made it to the outskirts of town, and the forest.
"All right. Time to make a break for it."
After he said this, Marcus busted out in a full sprint to the forest. The sun was beating down on him, making him feel weaker, bit by bit. However, he made it into the forest, where he didn't feel much of the sun and didn't see much of the sunlight.
"All right. I'm OK. Now, let's go."
Marcus continued onward through the forest, traveling along the vast areas where shadows touched the ground. Marcus felt more at ease in this area, as there was a lot of shade. However, Marcus didn't dare look up, so he wouldn't blind himself from the light of the sun if it shined through the leaves somewhere. Marcus didn't want to take that chance.
"OK. So where is this place?"
Marcus began running, still heading north. Nimbly avoiding the sunlight that broke through the trees, Marcus made it to the village. He exited the forest, fully exposed to the sunlight and completely visible to the villagers. Marcus walked to the village and they welcomed him.

Before Marcus got to work, he requested an audience with the person that put up the notification of this job. He entered the man's home and asked him if he can start at night time, telling him that he's stronger when the sun isn't out. The owner said it was fine and let Marcus do so. Marcus left the house and went west from the village. There, he found the crops they were talking about and a house there that he found out kept different types of seeds and all that stuff. Inside, he found a lantern inside and brought it out. Then, he sat down on a bench and waited for it to become night. Sometime when he was waiting, Marcus ended up dosing off.
A few hours later, he woke up. His vision was a little distorted and he started feeling woozy and dizzy. Marcus staggered as he tried to regain his balance from standing up. He put his hand to his head as he fell to his knees.
"Damn. It looks like I stayed in the sun too long."
While he was on the ground, Marcus also noticed that he was getting a little hard at breathing. He stood up, now being able to fully regain his balance, and shielded his eyes as he tried to look over the horizon. Some of the trees were blocking the sun right now, but Marcus noticed that the sun was now setting.
"Looks like evening's here. Just a few more minutes..."
Marcus stayed standing for the remainder of the time. Indeed, a few more minutes passed and the sun set, however, there was still sunlight seeping through the sky. Marcus lit the lantern and set it on the bench he was on. Then, he walked down to the bottom of the staircase that led up to this little house. Once he got there, the sun stopped spreading it's light to the world. Marcus smirked and then walked to the crops. Oddly, they began lighting up. The light wasn't bright enough to blind Marcus, but he was surprised when they started giving off the light.
"What the hell is this?"
Marcus readied himself for battle, as he could tell someone or something was about to attack him now.

'Monster Dice' :

Marcus saw the plants rising from the garden. They seemed to be corn plants. Marcus was a little confused by this. He didn't think plants can do this, so he speculated that there is someone behind this.
When I get my hands on that guy, I'm gonna make him pay.
Marcus then put his right arm to his left shoulder and extended it all the way out to his right.
"Blade."
Immediately, Marcus' shadow rose up and engulfed his arm, turning into a blade. Marcus glared at the corn demons and smirked.
"OK. Which one of you is first?"
Two of the five corn demons that appeared then charged at Marcus, attempting to body ram him. Marcus extended his blade one meter and quickly slashed twice at both of the plants, sending them back some. Then, Marcus charged at the two corn demons. He slashed the blade horizontally, taking both of them out. Then, he returned his shadow and examined the remaining three.
Looks like they go down with three hits. This could be fun.
Then the remaining three corn demons let out breath attack. The breath attack carried a lot of corn with them. Marcus activated his Shadow Barrier to block them, but the phased through because it was a physical attack. Marcus shielded his face from getting hurt. When the attack finished, Marcus returned his shadow. Now, he was angry.
"Okay. Now I'm gonna kill you. Prepare to die."
