No More GMO's!

Reports of a strange phenomenon occurring in beanstalk village reached Kateri's ears while she was snacking on some fried octopus at the Hargeon Market. She made haste to fly there, and from an aerial view, she saw that the plants were glowing.
"Thaaaat's not normal..." Kateri said, impressed at the range of the magic.
Shadow let off a high pitch clicking sound, and turned side ways so he could land. Upon landing, she saw something sticking out the ground, and wriggling around. She walked closer for a look, and realized it was made of the same material as the crops around it if they were alive. She walked even closer to take a look at the plants.
Kateri saw the stalks of the plants were covered in thorns, and were withered and wilted. She touched the spikes to see just how sharp they were, accidentally pricking herself.
"That's definitely not normal, tomato vines don't have thorns..." she said matter of factly.
Kateri rubbed the blood off on her cloak, and moved along. Shadow sensed something was very off with the surrounding area, and began growling in a very deep, angry tone.
She took shadow off her shoulder, and looked him in the eyes.
"You sense it too, fly above me. If I get attacked then I want you protecting me."
Shadow let off a few deep clicking sounds and took off.

A large group of corn stalks popped out of the ground, and Kateri instinctively drew her sword and cleaved one of them in half. Shadow came down from the sky and grabbed one by it's corn cob, which Shadow assumed to be the head, and took it in the air.
The corn monster began wrapping around Shadow, and slapping it with it's leaves. Shadow made the fight short by crunching it's corn cob head off and spitting it to the ground.
Kateri was backing up as the other eight corn cob monsters began encircling her, and preparing to strike. Shadow came down by their feet (roots) and used his tail to cut two of them, causing them to fall. Kateri took the opportunity to start running, and quickly jumped over the two on the floor narrowly missing the vines they tried to grab her with. She kept running until she was far enough that they couldn't encircle her again.
Kateri pulled out her single shot pistol and took careful aim at one of the corn monsters coming to her, and waiting till the group got a bit closer. Shadow was circling overhead waiting to shred anything that got close to Kateri.

She kept waiting for the corn monster in front to get nice and close before she would try and hit it. The monster was so close it fired a few corn kernels at Kateri, and Kateri fired back hitting the monster in the stem. Severed from it's body the corn monster was little but a walking twig now, and died off after stumbling about a few times.
Kateri got hit by a couple of the kernels and checked her legs where she was shot. There was big red marks, but no bleeding thankfully. She stood up, and moved back a couple feet while she reloaded her pistol.
Shadow had dropped down and cleaved through on of the corn monster's root like feet, and grabbed one of the ones he already tripped up by the head. He took it in the air and began stabbing it rapidly with his tail. The corn monster had tied itself around Shadow's body trying to constrict it, but its head was so beaten up by that bladed tail of Shadows' that it let go before it could get a grip on the wyvern.
Kateri stuffed the round in the back of her 'Small Package's' barrel, and flicked the barrel closed.

Shadow dived in, and got within a few inches of the crop's floor. He got under the 4 remaining corn monsters that were still walking and quickly slashed their roots off. As soon as he did that, one of the already crawling corn monsters grabbed Shadow and tried choking him out. Luckily for Shadow he had natural armor that made getting a good grip a bit harder.
Kateri saw her pet in a bind, and quickly aimed down the sight of her single shooter and fired. The corn monster's head exploded and the vines went limp. Shadow quickly panicked his way free, and got airborne as quickly as he could to avoid being in that situation again.
One of the corn monsters vaulted itself into the air trying to body slam Shadow, as he posed a greater threat than Kateri, but missed when Shadow banked right. The corn monster landed next to Kateri with a loud THUD and began tangling her feet.
Kateri was kicking and struggling so much that the monster couldn't get a proper grasp on her. As Shadow began diving to save Kateri the other four crawling corn monsters began firing corn at him, all missing as they had horrible aim. Shadow landed with his tail embedded in the corn monster's head. The monster didn't let go, and Kateri grabbed her sword and cut the head from the rest of its body. Now the monster let go, and wilted away in the process.

Kateri pulled out her 10-shooter and got ready for the corn freaks to come at her. One of them used the leaves it had as hands, and shot itself forward in an attempt to tackle Kateri. She jumped out the way, and got hit in the back by a barrage of corn kernels shot at bullet speed. She winced and ignored the stinging sensation radiating from her back. Keteri rolled out the way of another of those annoying corn attacks, and pointed her gun at the corn monster that tried to headbutt her in the first place.
She pulled the trigger a couple times, and sunk both rounds into the corn monster's head. The monster was rearing up for another attack, and Kateri sent a third 9mm bullet in its head, right between the eyes. The monster went limp, and Kateri looked at the other three monsters while still ignoring the pain from her back. She gripped her 10-shooter and single shot tightly as she was impressed by the power of lowly vegetables.
'Maybe if we cut their hearts out, and eat them we might gain some of their power. Whadda you think Shadow?' Kateri said using the bond between her and Shadow.
Shadow replied with a few unamused clicks, letting her know that he'd prefer meat.

"Was only kidding." She informed Shadow.
Shadow let off a few clicks to show that he wasn't amused by the joke.
One of the corn monsters jumped at Kateri, who had now taken priority over the aerial killer Shadow. She rolled to the side and puffed her cheeks in anger.
"Hey! It's rude to interrupt a conversation!"
The corn monster charged again.
Shadow dived down, and ran his tail across the corn monster's back (or what seemed to be its back) leaving a massive gash, and knocking the monster to the floor.
The monster used its leaf arms to jump out the way as Kateri fired the 10-shooter at it wasting four shots. She frowned and took careful aim with her single shot.
The other two were staying back until she fired that shot, knowing if they attacked she might turn them into cream of corn. Kateri kept her aim on the now running corn monster, desperately trying not to be shot.
Shadow grew impatient and went after the cowardly corn demon. He flew around so while the corn freak ran from Kateri, it ran to Shadow. Shadow swooped down, and slammed the tip of his tail sword into the front of the corn monster's head. He then went to the air, flicked his tail sending the corn monster into the air, and chomped the monster in half. He then spit out the bit of corn in his mouth, hitting one of the other two crawlers in the face.

Kateri suddenly remembered that she never reloaded her single shot pistol, and quickly did so. The two remaining corn monster's jaws dropped at the ditsy mistake. Kateri looked at them with a puzzled expression.
"What? I have a lot of bullets to keep track of, my bad if I forget one or two..." Kateri said with an offended tone.
The corn monsters were annoyed, and both charged her. Kateri put out her now loaded .308 and waited till one of them was nice and close. She pulled the trigger sending the bullet from the tip of it's head (or body, not sure which it is) and the shot ejected from the other end. Kateri stepped aside and let the dead corn monster, and put her single shot next to her head in a dramatic pose.
Shadow was having a battle with the other corn monster that originally attacked Kateri. The corn monster was firing corn kernels at Shadow who was moving so randomly that the monster couldn't aim properly. Before the monster knew it Shadow had already cut the inaccurate fool's face off.
The faceless corn monster began running in circles, and Shadow just hovered in place watching it, letting off a clicking noise that Kateri assumed was him laughing at the monster. Kateri put an end to the corn demon's sufferings but putting the last 3 of her 10-shooter's clip in the monster.

Kateri came across one of the beanstalk villagers in the middle of the field.
"Hey, do you know what's going on here?"
"Wha- Huh? N-n-no!"
"Huh..."
"I don't know anything I swear, please leave me alone!"
Kateri looked at her skeptically.
"Are you alright?"
"Don't hurt me please!"
Kateri knocked the woman out by pistol whipping her with the Big Surprise and dragged her out of the field. She filled a small bowl with ice and let it melt while she waited for the woman to wake up.
The woman awoke in a panic, shouting and screaming for mercy.
"Whoa there, you're safe." Kateri said in a caring voice.
"Here."
Kateri gave the woman a bowl of cold water that still had some of the ice in it.
"Th-thank you." the woman said still shaken up.
She took a sip from the bowl, and assumed the fetal position.
"Were you attacked by those plants?" Kateri asked.
"No." she said in a scared voice.
"What happened to make you scared?"
"I fell asleep in the field and had a nightmare. It seemed so real, as if it was really happening."
Kateri didn't want to accept the fact that a nightmare would cause that reaction, but she didn't want to dismiss it either.

Kateri patted the woman on the head, and stood up.
"Wait, you're not going back in there are you!?"
"why shouldn't I?"
"I- I don't know, but it- There's something evil in there."
"I'll make sure the evil in there is dead when I'm done."
"W-well good luck"
Kateri put 10 bullets into her Big Surprise
"I don't need luck..."
She flicked the chamber shut.
"I've got ammo."
The woman looked at Kateri as though she were a super hero of sorts.
Kateri walked off into the setting sun, her silhouette vanishing as she disappeared into the vegi-field of death. She walked past the rows of thorny vegetation with her sword and pistol drawn. Moments like this, Kateri wished she were a soul wizard like her father so she could use her magic. Unfortunately, ice magic seems to kill crops pretty fast, must be the lower temperature or the freezing over of... everything. Who knows...
She came across a large circle in the middle of the fields, and her ambush senses were tingling. Kateri sent Shadow to watch over her from the skies.
"All right, I know you're here." she said in a confident tone.
Kateri waited a minute and got impatient.
"I SAID GET OUT HERE AND FIGHT ME!" she yelled angrily.

A single broccoli demon popped out the ground.
"That's it?" Kateri said honestly believing it were a joke.
Another broccoli, and another, and another popped up.
After a few moments, she was surrounded by broccoli, corn, and tomato demons.
"Oh screw all kinds of duck... SHADOW!!!"
Shadow dropped from the sky and ran along the outside of the circle of enemies, cutting each on the back and drawing most of their attention. Shadow was dipping in and out, making the corn and tomato monsters fire their attacks at him. Unfortunately, their attacks missed and hit the broccoli monsters instead. The broccoli monsters were mad at shadow, and one of them slammed him with their massive heads.
"Shadow, get us out of here!"
Shadow used his teleport to move Kateri and himself from the massive circle of angry vegetables. The two reappeared twelve meters away, shadow was panting surprised that those slow things were able to get a whack on him.
Kateri petted his head to calm him down.
"Those green ones are stronger than the others okay, be more careful bud."
Shadow stopped breathing heavily and relaxed, giving off a cheerful click to let Kateri know he's good for another round.

One of the tomato monsters charged Kateri and she jumped aside trying to dodge the attack, just to get nailed by another tomato. She staggered to her feet, and went after the tomato thingy with her sword. Shadow cleaved the one that missed her in half as it tried to get a shot in on Kateri. The tomato Kateri was attacking tried to get a shot in on her, lucky for her, the attack missed when she tripped over a root. Kateri rolled and got on her feet, oblivious to the fact she was almost ketchup'd, and slashed a deep hole in the tomato's face.
Shadow got low to the ground and circumnavigated the broccoli plants. He snuck up behind them and made another cut in their bodies. Shadow quickly flew away, remembering what happened the last time he lingered to try and get another hit in. This time, when one of the plants tried to slam Shadow, the broccoli hit his bushy head on the floor instead. Shadow climbed, narrowly being missed by ketchup and corn bullets in the process. From the ground Kateri saw the barrage of attacks, and she knew that eventually one of those attack will land.

Kateri formed an Ice Spike, and carefully aimed it so no part of the spike touched the plants around it. She aimed at the broccoli demon nearest to her, and fired. The broccoli demon was hit so hard it caught air and bumped into another broccoli monster. That broccoli demon hit another, and another and turned into a game of dominos. The plants all lost their aim just in time, as one of the tomato monster was about to fire a shot in front of Shadow instead of on him. If that tomato did that, he would have definitely hit the wyvern.
Realizing that he was no longer under attack, Shadow barrel rolled and banked in the direction of the demons. He saw the one that had a frozen body, and aimed right for it. He turned his wings in opposite directions and began spinning faster and faster. Shadow tucked his wings in and drilled straight through the broccoli monster, spreading his wings in time to fly upwards again with his belly brushing the soft dirt. The broccoli monster, now with a gaping hole in his body toppled over and died.
"Great job Shadow!" Kateri said with glee.
Shadow let off a few confident clicks, and now knew those fibrous freaks could be taken down.

Shadow flew back around for another slash run. The broccoli peons were expecting it, and turned to face the direction Shadow attacked from. Shadow knew better than attack in the same spot, and instead came in from above and arched directly in the middle of the circle. The corn plants and tomato plants began firing on him. Due to how small he was, and how fast he was flying the shots whizzed past him, or missed entirely. However, the attacks did hit the backs of the 9 broccoli plants. Shadow saw the plants turn around, and he went behind them and slashed their backs a third time, and then flew up to avoid another one of those slams.
Kateri snuck up behind two of the tomato plants that were close to each other, they were close to Kateri, and preoccupied with aiming at Shadow. She noticed they each had cuts on them, and was amazed the two were still standing. Kateri stabbed both of them in the backs and began her retreat before the others would notice. The two tomato monsters hit the floor with ketchup oozing from their mouths.
"Thaaaaat's disgusting..." Kateri said with a ill expression as she held back a baby barf.

Shadow was hit by one of the corn bullets and dropped from the air. He was able to catch himself just an inch from slamming on the ground. He quickly made a circle, whizzing past the thorny plants his black scales blending in with the shadows around him. He popped up in front the corn monster who hit him and slammed his sword like tail into its face. One of the broccoli monsters charged on him, and he waited until the last second to pull his tail out and jump from the corn monster. The broccoli plant bulldozed the corn monster killing it.
Kateri was impressed, she knew Shadow was smart, but she never expected him to be that smart. Kateri quickly ran, and jumped on the back of the broccoli thing that ran over the corn monster. She began stabbing it in the back repeatedly until it stopped struggling and hit the floor. She noticed the broccoli monster was emitting some type of dark energy, and began contemplating the possibility of that same stuff being inside normal non aggressive broccoli.
'So this is why Shadow doesn't like to eat his vegetables...' Kateri thought to herself with a sickly expression on her face.

A tomato monster thing slammed Kateri with a direct blast of ketchup that knocked her off her feet. She got up and looked at her now ruined cloak which was covered in ketchup.
"...... Alright, now I'm peeved...." She said with an irritated tone.
"That was my mother's..."
Kateri took of the ketchup ridden cloak and let it drop to the floor. Her eyes had turned from dark purple to bright blue, and her demonic scar was glowing crimson.
"You ruined my mother's cloak..." she said with a crooked smile.
The broccoli and corn demons began edging back. The tomato monsters stepped forward thinking she was all talk, and no stab... foolishly.
"You ruined it..."
"AND NOW YOU'LL DIE!" she screamed shrilly as she charged at the line of tomato monsters.
Shadow knew better than to get in the way or a Kateri level blood-rage and stayed above while she cooled off.
The corn plants were backing up even more to avoid taking undue punishment while the broccoli demons waited for an opening to charge at her. The tomato plants began firing ketchup at her in hopes that their inaccurate attack would be enough to hit an enraged female. Unfortunately they missed every attack as the now enraged girl charged head on at them.

Keteri jumped and slammed her sword into the face of one of the tomato monsters, and ripped the sword out sending tomato juice flying. One of the corn demons, who was just a bit too close tried to back away.
"WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING?!" Kateri screamed with insanity in her voice.
Kateri leaped from the dead tomato monster and grabbed the corn demon by the head, slashing it in half and running it through with the sword.
A broccoli demon thought it was a good time to charge, and began barreling toward Kateri.
Kateri fired an Ice Spike at it, and sent the broccoli demon to the floor. Shadow took the opportunity and started descending. The broccoli monster got up, and began shaking off some of the frost on it's stomach. Shadow placed it's wings to angle in opposite directions making him spin. He tucked his wings in, and drilled directly through the broccoli monster, spreading his wings in time to fly up again.
The broccoli monster hit the floor, and Kateri was charging at her next victim. The tomato demon she was charging was trying to escape, but soon realized the futility of its actions, for it was too late to run.

Kateri imbued her 10-shooter with ice properties and threw her sword at the tomato monster. The sword slammed into the top of the tomato demon's head and sent it to the floor.
One of the other tomato monsters screamed: "Game over man!" as Kateri jumped and slammed on the sword sending it all the way through the tomato monster's head killing it. she began to spin and fired a shot at each of the four remaining tomato monsters.
The first one was hit on the side of the head and fell over for a second. The second and third were hit square in the back and began rolling as they died. The fourth was hit on the side of its head, and spun a few times making it dizzy. Shadow was lurking in the field, and popped up under the tomato that was shot first and began slashing away with his tail. The tomato monster didn't have arms long enough to grab it, and couldn't do anything but die.
Shadow finished with that one and flew over to the other, and latched onto its back. The tomato monster began panicking and spinning more, and eventually spun itself too dizzy to stand. Just to be safe, Shadow popped a holed into the tomato plant and let it bleed out... or juice out...

One of the corn plants rammed Kateri from atop her sword, and she grabbed it by the head. It began wriggling and panicking as Kateri grabbed the grip of her sword and began slamming its head into it.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HOW DO YOU LIKE MY TOY!?" Kateri exclaimed insanely.
Shadow flew over to one of the broccoli demons and latched onto the branch like things on its head. The broccoli began flailing its head trying to knock Shadow off, but shadow's 128 teeth were all sunk into the fibrous demon and did not release. Shadow began making cuts into the demon, and a gratuitous amount of them. One of the corn demons fired kernels at Shadow to make him let go, but shadow gave a very strong flick with his tail and forced the broccoli monster to spin. The kernel shots slammed the broccoli monster in the head, and made a gaping hole. Shadow finally released, spit out bits of the demon, and returned to the shadows of the field.
Kateri was still bashing the limp corn monster against he sword until the kernels fell from its cob entirely. She put her 10-shooter in its holster, and grabbed her sword pulling it from the ground and looking at the group of terrified vegetation that had huddled in a circle. Kateri cocked her head to the side with a rather scary looking smile on it and said: "Does anyone want to play with my toy?" while holding the dead corn demon in her other hand.

The two remaining corn demons huddled up with the broccoli monsters for safety. The corn demons were afraid of Kateri getting to them. The broccoli monsters were afraid of Shadow getting to them. Shadow flew out of the field and began circling above the group, and caused the broccoli monsters to huddle closer together crushing the corn demons. The broccoli was trying to avoid being the next victim of the flying killer that they looked at as if Shadow was the monster, and not them. One of the corn monsters had its head crushed by the broccoli demons as they were huddling so close.
Kateri was slowly walking closer, still carrying the limp corn demon's corpse. The last corn demon, desperate to not die, fired its kernel bullets at Kateri and she blocked with the dead body. One of the kernels made it past her vegetation shield and slammed her in the head, knocking her out.
Shadow dived in the middle of the broccoli demon's formation, and directly on top the corn demon, splitting it's head down the middle. The broccoli demons scattered, and began desperately looking around for the miniature menace. None of them saw Shadow, but they knew one of them was gonna get the hammer soon enough.

Shadow creeped up behind one of the remaining broccoli demons and let off a low pitched clicking sound. The broccoli monster turned around and stared the 128 razor sharp teeth down. Shadow then slammed his teeth into the Broccoli monster's face and made it begin freaking out trying to get Shadow off. Shadow latched on using the claws on all four if his wings, and started stabbing with his tail at the broccoli monster's midsection. The broccoli demon went down, and Shadow released it. He climbed on top of the dead vegetable and spread his wings, casting a large shadow on the other demons.
The other demons turned and faced their soon to be killer, and shook in awe of Shadow's glowing white fangs. Shadow opened his eyes and revealed that those too were glowing bright silver. His silhouette vanished as he dived into the field, and the broccoli monsters returned to their huddled positions, now consisting of five.
Shadow popped up in the middle of their formation and spun, slashing all five of them twice each before disappearing into the field. The broccoli split up, trying to see a black 1ft 7in long, 3in wide wyvern at night. One of them found Shadow, at the same time that shadow bit off its leg spat it out and then slithered away.

Kateri was still knocked out when her Frostfire ability wore off.
Shadow was perfectly at home in the dark of night with his armored body being concealed by the comforting embrace of the field of thorns. He appeared at the foot of the broccoli monster he attacked recently relieving it of the other foot. He then circled around and knocked it over and began shredding the broccoli monster's back wide open. A broccoli demon ran up behind him, and slammed Shadow into the back of the broccoli demon he was cutting open. Shadow didn't get hit too hard as his armor protected him slightly but it still hurt like hell. Shadow dipped back into the cover of the field, with his back throbbing from the direct smash, leaving the dead broccoli monster behind.
Kateri was still knocked out...
One of the broccoli monsters decided to finish Kateri off before she had the chance to get up. As he approached the young girl, the real demon flew out of its cover and chomped on the broccoli demon's face. The broccoli demon managed to throw it off, but Shadow used his wings to catch himself mid air and went for the broccoli demon again. The broccoli demon began thrashing about, trying to hit the black silhouette in the air but couldn't get a good swat on Shadow as he blended into the dark night sky. The only way to notice where Shadow was, was to track the parts of the night sky where the stars disappeared and reappeared, but this was a challenge when you're being attacked. Shadow was able to get on the broccoli demon's back, and began stabbing away. Shadow jumped off his victim as it hit the floor, and began slithering around as he tried to shake off his aching back.

Shadow had slithered around to the back of another broccoli monster, and used his tail to stab in the back. It turned around and began stomping the ground where it thought Shadow was. Shadow snuck to the back of the same broccoli demon and stabbed it again. The demon began stomping the ground there, and Shadow did the same thing, except this time he waited. The broccoli monster decided to stomp the same piece of ground thinking Shadow would move there, but was seriously disappointed when Shadow wasn't there. It turned around and stared Shadow in the eyes, before having its eye gouged out by Shadow's tail. Shadow then jumped on the broccoli monster's head and began cutting off the bushy head.
Kateri finally woke up in a daze, rubbing her head.
"What happened..." she said groggily as she overcame her headache.
Kateri noticed a black human shaped figure trying to sneak his way off in the distance, and made haste to stop him.
Shadow had jumped from under one of the two remaining broccoli monsters, and latched onto its back. He began stabbing away while sinking his many teeth into its back. The broccoli monster went down after a few dozen stabs with that tail of Shadows, and he released.
Kateri ran up to the dark figure, and put a .308 in its leg. The man staggered to the floor, and Kateri pointed her 10-shooter at him.
"Don't move!" she said with her finger on the trigger.
