Josh stepped off the train, hands in his pockets and looked around the train station for a map of the city Come on, there’s got to be one around here somewhere he thought to himself. After a few minutes he finally found one So I just walk out here, turn right, walk down this path and I’m there, alright let’s head out! he thought to himself, it was his first job in a few months, and he was excited to get going again.

He arrived in front of the giant building and walked up to the guards stationed at the front, the saw him coming and one of them spoke to him as he came nearer
“Beat it kid, we’re very busy men,” he sneered, Josh looked up at him
“Oh, I’m sorry I thought that the Rune Knights had sent out a job request for some training for the new rookies, but I guess that’s no longer needed, I’ll just go,” Josh said turning around
“Wait, you’re Joshua Chapman? The fire wizard from Fairy Tail who accepted our request?” The other questioned
Josh turned around and held his hand up to them, showing them his blue guild mark
The one and only!” he exclaimed loudly as he walked past the guards “Now are we gonna train some rookies or what?” He asked walking through to the training hall.

He walked through to the training hall and saw a group of 20 or 30 recruits poorly attempting some sparring with wooden practice swords
Oh my god, they really need some work he thought to himself
“ALRIGHT THEN MAGGOTS! I AM YOUR NEW INSTRUCTOR, YOU WILL DO WHAT I SAY, WHEN I SA-,” he started yelling before he was interrupted by some sniggering
“DO YOU FIND SOMETHING FUNNY PRIAVTE!” he boomed at one of the recruits that was sniggering
“I just find it ridiculous that they hired a kid to train us,” he replied trying to control his laughter
He held up his hand “DO YOU SEE THIS GUILD MARK SHITBIRD? THAT MEANS I AM A QUALIFIED WIZARD, MEANING AT 15 YEARS OLD I CAN ALREADY USE MAGIC AND PROBABLY FIGHT BETTER THAN YOU!” he boomed at the recruit as he shrivelled down
“Well, I bet that I could beat you with 1 hand tied behind my back!” Another recruit stepped up to face Josh

“Oh really?” Josh asked, charging forward and knocking the soldier off balance, causing him to tumble to the ground
“Your balance is off, your stance is weak, a member of a dark guild would tear you to shreds!” he hissed at the recruit
“NOW! I expect you all to pay attention now!” He shouted turning around to face the others
“Let us start with creating a simple ball of magic,” he said calming down, his voice becoming softer, he created a ball of fire in the palm of his hand “Now, you try,” he motioned to the recruits, they struggled to create a small ball of energy
“Ok, I can see your struggling so let me give you some help, first of all to channel your magic you need to focus, try picturing a small light and then when you’ve focused on that picture the light exploding into blinding brightness, then channel your magic energy at that exact moment, give it a try,” Josh said. Some of the recruits were able to do it but some were still struggling
“Maybe I should demonstrate more,” He said to the group and created a fireball from his purple flame and tossed it to one of the recruits
“Try sustaining this fireball,” He told the private

The recruit caught the fireball but struggled to keep the flame alight
“Maybe this will help,” he said to the recruit and he pulled out his sword and grabbed another recruit
“Sustain that fireball or this guy dies,” Josh said in a straight voice
“You can’t be serious!” the guy said, the flame flickering in his hand
“DO IT OR I WILL SLICE HIM UP RIGHT HERE AND NOW!” Josh’s voice boomed louder than a 15 year olds voice should be, the recruit was struggling before that but after Josh shouted at the recruit, he replied back
“DON’T YOU DARE TOUCH HIM!” he shouted back, when he did the flame exploded into the sky and he was able to sustain it
“Good job, you pass,” Josh said letting go of the recruit “Tell me, how did you suddenly sustain that flame after you barely kept it alive?” He asked the recruit
“I didn't want to see my squad mate get chopped to pieces so I put all my energy into keeping that flame alive,” he replied
“Now, I want all of you to think of something that makes you determined," Josh said as he stood back and watched as they went to work
Not bad, they might be able to defend the country after some more advanced training Josh thought to himself

“Ok, now, it’s time to start practicing with your weapons,” Josh said unsheathing his sword
He pointed to one of the recruits “Pick up your practice sword and come at me, I won’t hurt you,” He said assuming a stance, the recruit charged at him, sword outstretched, Josh sidestepped around the sword and hit the guy with the hilt of his sword, the guy fell to the ground
“You’re too slow, what magic do you use?” Josh asked the recruit
“I use wind magic,” the guy replied getting up and dusting himself off
“I want you to give yourself a speed boost with your wind magic to attack faster,” Josh said assuming a stance again, the guy picked up his sword and charged at Josh, a gust of wind gave him a boost, the recruit hit Josh square in the chest and Josh fell to the ground
“Great hit, I think we should call in your commander,” Josh said getting up and dusting himself off
Josh walked outside and got the Rune Knights commander
“Ok recruits, show him what you learned,” Josh said, the recruits first conjured up a ball of magic energy and threw it at the practice dummies set up, Josh looked at the commander and saw that he was impressed
“Alright, pair up and do some sparring with your practice swords,” Josh said and stood back, the recruits picked up their practice swords and started sparring, they used their magic to give them an advantage before attacking with their sword
“You’ve done a good job, I’m glad we chose you for this job, we’ll send your reward through in a little bit,” The commander told Josh
Josh walked off back to the train station
Successful first job back, time to head to home to Magnolia and the guild Josh said walking out of the training hall
