    I DONT REGRET MY PAST

    ------
Our story continues here. Just outside of Magnolia approximately 6:00 in the morning. The sun had just made its way over the horizon; bleeding its light over Fiore whilst lighting its dawning sky’s a tropical pink. A gentle breeze swam through the mass of trees within east forest, just outside Magnolia, a smooth rustling whispered from the leaves as birds sang to the morning… It seemed today would be peaceful. However, that wasn’t the word Rita Stebern was looking for. She had long lost the meaning to the word ‘peace’.

The girl limped through the wilderness of East forest. The balls of her feet and ankles were bloody and blistered, having hiked miles barefoot in an attempt to make it out of the foreign nations after being abandoned in the middle of Joya. She’d snuck into cargo holds of trains, followed river passes, crawled through wilderness all in an attempt to make it back to her nation… Her hair was matted unkempt, twigs and brush entangled in her brunette mass. There were heavy dark circles under her eyes from a deprivation of sleep and nourishment, making her eyes seemed sunken in, dark, and deep. The only thing that hung over her frame was a dark colored cotton fiber shirt, Lance’s ebony coat hanging over her shoulders. It reached down to the small girls thighs, somewhat making up for her lack of pants. Her legs were cut up… Red scars decorated down her thighs, knees and calves. Clash had done a number on the girl, deducted her to nothing, tied her down, suppressed her magic and rendered her defenseless. The scars from his knife weren’t just against her leg. They panned up her stomach, her arms, chest even at her cheek there was a red welt. The clothes Lance had given her only kept her so warm and protected…Then again...It was better than just her panties that Clash had deducted her too…He had come an inch from raping her then and there. But he got what was coming to him. He was dead. Yet, Rita wasn’t satisfied.

Then, as if the past few days hadn’t been bad enough, Rita lost her balance, her knees roughly racking into the roots of a tree. She caught herself with her hands, scraping her palms raw against the rough terrain.  The shadow mage thought maybe her legs had given out, but turning to look behind her she realized that she had tripped over something. Sunken in and tired eyes met the piece protruding out of the ground… blush colored sunlight bled between the mass of trees, hitting and bouncing of what seemed to be the corner of a metal container of some sort. Even in a situation like she was, curiosity still got the best of her… She dusted off the corner, rooting her hands into the grounds, caking her hands in even more dirt and grime as she shoveled the things up. By the time she unburied it the underside of her fingers were stuck with dirt, her nails black crescents

She clambered back to her feet slowly and popped open the bronze, decaying case, rust spraying from the hinge as it flipped open. Rita let the thing fall to the ground, hands now around the treasure sitting inside it: A tome of some sort. Integrated within the shape of an arcane casting circle was another portrait. It took her a moment to realize exactly what the image represented. Then the words hit her 'balances' or weighing scales were etched into this cover. The word ”FAMINE’ Hung below the print.

With a breath…her fingers snaked into the yellowing parchment and She opened the book, dust and dirt alike wafting from the pages as she split them apart from each other. Her eyelids tore wide as a black, malevolent aura grew from the pages, causing the mage to tremble as it invaded her mind—Just as the corrupt spirit she encountered back in the haunted guild hall all those months ago. She came down to her knees, releasing the tome from her grip suddenly, throwing her palms to her forehead.

Anything within a ten meter radius of the mage caved into her newfound power… Everything in range just… died, as if she had unbolted the power of Zeref himself. Trees blackened color decaying from their thinning trunks, demoted to weak stems of their former selves. The green brush which had grown between the cages of tree branches gave way into the breeze all at once, leaves browning, and then blackening until they crumbled to dust. The grass and moss below her feet curled in on its self, suffocated of life, browning over and dissolving into the ground in an instant.

Pants and heavy shuttering breaths resonated from the girl’s petite frame. Knowledge of various curses and ravage causing spells poisoned and swept throughout her brain. She buried her nails into her face. Her mind struggled and felt like it was choking itself, blackening just as the herb and vegetation around her did.

    YOU WILL REMEMBER ME
    REMEMBER ME FOR CENTURIES

I CAN'T STOP TILL THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS MY NAME. CAUSE I WAS ONLY BORN INSIDE MY DREAMS. UNTIL YOU DIE FOR ME, AS LONG AS THERE IS LIGHT, MY SHADOW IS OVER YOU. CAUSE I'M THE OPPOSITE OF AMNESIA.

Doom filled the void of emotionless glass, rousing irritation and panic through pale features as captured gems of ruby steered left and right. The ground was sinking, as if revolted by his touch - other wild-life groveling into the embrace of death as a single bead of sweat formed onto fore-head. A groan liberated, hands extending to locks of raven as scissors of white clenched together, thick lashes faintly shielding distress. "Damn it!" a sigh, the pain was rattled, teeth held together firmly, "What pest got to the book before I did?" query was answered before he even had a chance to blink, voices of Rukh whispering gentle words into his ears as his slender body moved through crying woods. The black and white particles danced a pathway toward a woman held in angst, not presently aware of his presence as he stood there with cold eyes.

"Missus, you shouldn't go around touching things like that." he discerned her already tattered figure, wondering if it was already to late seeing as she evidently touched the object of surprise. The reason he even wanted this thing in the first place was because of the similiar element - bringing a wall of safety to the fact he could not be affected by its deathly power. "Look at you! You look like you got rather intimate with a meat grinder." a laugh, "I hope you don't mind me taking this." of course, he was taking into mind, that an attack were to surely come. Despite the horrible disarray of her appearance, magic loomed powerfully from her figure.

    I DONT REGRET MY PAST

    ------
Ripping her hands away from her face slowly, she noticed another’s shadow had fallen over her, their voice striking her ears. Still resting upon her knees she cocked her head up with reply. “Shit happens, I mean look in a mirror. You look like a jewelry box threw up on ya..” She bit dully, eyeing the gold bands bracletting his arms and throat as he reached for the artifact at her knees.

Her dirt and scrape ridden hand came to reach after the tome before him. She laid her palm against it’s cover, right over its runic print claimingly. “Ever hear of finders keepers?..” Rita murmured, her tone lacked any witt or humor. Cold, and dull: She sounded like she meant business to put it short. “Losers weepers…” She glared with that same icy voice, narrowing her blue-berry irises his way until they were sharp as daggers, puncturing into his apple colored pools.

With the quick chinking, the sounds of rising and readying blades, Long onyx-black spikes panned up from the ground around him. Their needle thin points centimeters away from his chest…his throat, head, back, and stomach. It would only take the girl a batted of an eyelash to impale him. “Chances are you aren’t out here to enjoy the scenery, you were out hunting this down, right.” She hummed, words rolling off of bloody and chapped lips smoothly. “What is this?” She wondered, her shadowy spires threatening him for an answer as her fingers flexed and gripped at the cover firm and possessively.

    Every step I take
    every fallen tear
    --weaves another lie
will tomorrow come at last? in a million shards of broken glass. fate is bleeding through my resilient soul, dying it a pale and fragile blue. there is beauty in the lie, spoken like a bittersweet goodbye. still the brilliant light is beyond my reach, maybe i belong here, beneath the light of the moon. praise your palette of lies, for its a masterpiece that you have created. all of your promises, bleeding in flawless harmony.
Her stare was intimidating, enough that the youthful male felt like he was shrinking back with his tail between his legs. But, that was nothing but a mer thought - truth be told, the exposed damage of flesh and body was enough that he felt rather honored to be thrown upon by alluring accessories of golden jewel. Even though they were so far futile to discard, and irritably recalling of mother-land, at least they presented himself in but an.. appealing matter. "How rude." a blink, his thin frame aroused suitably back to the poistion of stand, eyeing the shadowy blades with evident caution. "But, I guess I will answer you anyway. Yes. I just so happened to be here for that." exposed fingers gestured to the book, eyeing its jagged cover, blood now tainted patches as the curse tainted her own. It was much to late for him now, and the fact he had concluded his restless approach to but an ending of disappointment made the Magi somewhat irked.

"What?" lips parted, bulky wave of air liberating from shifting lungs as those ruby gems altered in another direction, "For some reason I assumed you were also here for the book, but judging by your filthy appearance Missus I guess you've just went and found the wrong story to read." briefly the male rubbed the nape of his neck, hand descended back by his side as he observed her with somewhat disinterest found within his youthful expression. For a minute, he considered the direction she would be heading would be but the same as his own. Sad. Lonely. Painful. She could've continued on with regularity, coping through whatever troubles had been settled her way, but instead, she had ended up here. It was truly strange how life went exploiting it's role. How troublesome.. With verdict of thought, he resolved he'd tell her what she had now associated herself with.

"The Tome of Famine. That is the name of the book you hold in your hands." a pause, "Now I'm not very familiar with the whole Four Men of the Apocalypse tale - that is for you to figure out on your own Missus.. But, I am going to tell you that a man by the name of Famine was one of the Four. He had a curse, like my own, which is why I am immune by it's effects right now." those pale lips gradually lifted up into that familiar smirk, the story continuing, "Where ever he travelled, things died.. And it was all because of that book.. Because of the scriptures he had written.. Famine was a brilliant man to have made something so deadly... It's unforunate his work has fallen into the wrong hands as of now." mocking disappointment briefly vieled through his fragile features, eyeing the woman with sudden play as existence vanished in the blink of an eye, precisely behind her. Bare hands reached for her locks of sandy brown, tracing them at first carefully, and then harshly - grinding them against his palm as he used it to haul her closer to him. "Whoever touches that book goes insane. They will never escape the darkness that Famine is thriving for them to accept." laughter, "Are you sure you can handle such excitement Missus?" the single hand ascended in it's firm hold, awaiting the strike, or awaiting the answer. Either way, he minded it was enjoyable to have some fun once in awhile. Even if that meant pissing off some strange impaired woman.

    I DONT REGRET MY PAST

    ------

Tome of Famine? The word struck a familiar nerve in the back of her head. Had she learned of it in school?...maybe out on the job somewhere? No… She didn’t remember picking up any of that in a classroom, or on a job pamphlet. So… where did the knowledge of all these Curses, Spells of bane and blight come from…They had planted themselves in her mind the very moment she opened the book. Those roots were only going to grow. Did Rita know that? Not really.

Deadly, the word struck her like a drum, its meaning reverberating inside her as if she was hollow; the sound caused a clench the pit of her stomach, causing the girl a moment of uneasiness. She glanced down at the Tome crumpled against the ground then back to the Raven haired magi before her.

One minute he was there, and the next? Into thin air. Dark spires sunk back into the shadows they had initially come. Rita glared about the surroundings in purist of his gold-clad figure.
She stumbled back, her legs moving backwards jaggedly with the snag of her hair. He was touching her, maybe not like those she detested had… but contact was contact and the very sensation of another’s hands at her sent the haunting sensation of knifes ripping through her.
This set off a red light in her head, leaving her to freeze completely, visage darkening. She didn’t listen.. or rather care what he was warning her about in regards to the tome…it was hers. Instantaneously, a dark mater manifested and shifted between clenched fists. Rita quite literally tore herself out of his grip not caring if it ripped any of her hair out when she spun around on her heels. That dark matter? Molding it was her specialty and now it had taken the shape of a short sword. Turned, she was ripping her shadow make: blade in his direction. The angered mage aimed to slash his chest diagonal. Whether he evaded or her smite landed, the female slid herself backwards, grabbing up the book from the soil and tucking it in beneath her arm. Dust and dirt wafted up from her heels as distance came between them.
