Liberation of the People Empty Liberation of the People

Post by Rasparov 20th July 2015, 12:45 am

    Job Info:

Hargeon Town. It was a city of ships, a port town. Not only that, it was also the home of the guild known as Lamia Scale. This town was where Rasparov was looking for information on a slaver group; one selling women to other countries for their own gain. Having no other information, other than that they were based out of Hargeon Town, the crystal eyed man was searching for information. Having already been confronted by a few that had tips, as well as people walking up with anonymous tips in the form of paper, the tall man walked into one of the many taverns that littered the town.

The smell of seafood tickled his nose as he looked around, his eyes quickly adjusting to the light as he did so. Walking to an empty table, the Rune Knight waited for others that may hear about him to come to him. Surely there was another party interested in stopping the slavers in town. Someone affected by them in some way. Being asked to order something while he was in there, Rasparov ordered a simple glass of water and a light appetizer; a simple fried shrimp plate that was lightly sauced with some kind of sweet glaze on the breading. Calmly biting into the first piece of shrimp, the man chewed thoughtfully as he thought about the state of the country. Slavers were running amok in a town where an ENTIRE guild lived. There really needed to be a better watch on stuff like this, something the Special Operations Corps he was in should be tasked with more often.

The situation vexed Faeral. Greatly. Having his most faithful of servants spirited away by some low class slavers of all people only further put the man into a foul mood. Despite the fact that Faeral’s patience allowed him to spend as much time as he pleased on acts of vengeance, this situation required immediate attention lest a few issues crop up down the road. For starters he couldn’t have them stealing from him time and time again, and think it okay. As much as Morphine’s kidnapping annoyed him, the man held every ounce of confidence that she’d return to him. Gods knows the fury she could unleash when angered, and she’d been loyal to him for an absurdly long time that he needn’t fear sudden abandonment.

However they might not be pleased about her sudden rampage all the same, so he really wouldn’t appreciate any repercussions splashing back on him from all this hoopla.

Between thievery and potential payback these people had to be dealt with here and now, or as soon as possible rather since they required a little dirt digging. A little information yielded that this wasn’t exactly a new problem – good going government, control the people yet fail to keep untold amounts of citizens safe – and capturing the ring leaders of the entire operation would yield some pretty results. Money wasn’t a necessity, but every bit that was truly and well his rather than his father’s was always welcome.

It still wouldn’t hold a candle to punishing this silly fellows.

As he bid farewell to yet another contact, Faeral contemplated his next steps in this endeavor. Taking on an entire ring of human traffickers could turn tricky, especially for someone so well kept behind a desk. Being the front man attacker definitely wasn’t his style – much less charging in like some silly hero. Dreams of grandeur wasn’t his cup of tea so he’d need a stooge of sorts, someone who did like acting a hero to crimes while he’d work his magic somewhere in the background. ”Scarlet and Carver…” her murmured whilst twirling his glass of dark cranberry juice. He had time to kill before another little money grubbing urchin brought back some information on where they might be. The plate of pasta sat half eaten, some of the clams wide open missing their mussel content and others baring their bellies like little sacrifices. Swirling some noodles onto a fork, he grumbled before taking a bite, ”What a troublesome pair.”

Liberation of the People Empty Re: Liberation of the People

Post by Rasparov 21st July 2015, 11:34 pm

It wasn't long before people, usually the unsavory kind that were just looking for pay, started to come to the Rune Knight with little bits and pieces of information. There were useless tidbits, such as names of random people that may be involved, or even so far as the love life of someone that was involved. These left little to no useful information for the crystal souled man to use. He needed locations, times, names of the higher ranked people in the group. A lackey was going to know nothing important, and a member of the Rune Knights wouldn't just be welcome to asking those kind of things directly. Things slowly started to pick up as the tavern started to fill with customers, the more talkative ones finding it more convenient to talk amidst the crowds. There was one man who seemed, for all intents and purposes, inclined to talk loudly; as if he wanted more to hear than just him.

”Slavers, I had a friend who joined those bloody fools!” The man was angry, and rightfully so. He had lost a friend to the monsters, even if he had gotten mixed up with them of his own volition. ”There's a dock downtown, pretty deserted, where they like to take the women to ship, there's bound to be something around there. And watch out for Scarlet and Carver, they're the two in charge. Killed my friend for looking at one of the girls they did!” The man continued talking loudly, even with the Special Operations member trying his best to keep him from doing so. A sigh of relief left his lips as he finished off the last bite of the shrimp on his plate, standing up from his chair as he did so.

As he slowly walked around the tables, he heard a mumbling of familiar names; the two he had just heard about. He stopped his movement, turning slightly to see a man sitting at a table. He was about Rasparov's height, gold eyes looking into his glass in thought. He seemed like one a person could talk to without problems, even in a place like this. A portion of food was placed into the man's mouth after mention of the pair being troublesome. 'So the man knows something,' he thought to himself before turning to face the man.

”Excuse me, did you say Scarlet and Carver? I happen to have some...issues with them that I would like taken care of, and was wondering if you could lend assistance.” The man didn't say he was a Rune Knight. The crystal eyed mage wasn't sure what reaction that would get, especially when trying to make a new acquaintance. ”The name's Kimovich.”

Ah, he’d believed that with the general hum of conversation no one would hear his murmurs, but he’d just have to learn to keep his trap shut in public. This man that approached certainly caused a raised eyebrow, the grizzly fellow not easy to pick out from the crowd of similar faced gents. ’Mid-to-late thirties,’ he hazarded the guess, ’then again he might’ve “seen somethings.” I’ve heard that line plenty from folk like him.’ Either way the man looked like he could’ve worked amongst these fish-mongers, though there was something about the way the man held himself that set the man’s suspicions a bit on edge.

Maybe an out of work serviceman who wanted something different in life?

Staying silent Faeral jerked his head towards one of the open chairs, letting the man share the table seeing as there was still food to be had. He wouldn’t waste simple food if it tasted this good, grabbing another forkful to stuff into his face not unlike the normal denizens might. ”Pleasure,” he spoke around the fork of food, and with a swallow added, ”Faeral.” If the man was dumb enough to think he’d given him a nickname instead of offering his name in turn, well then perhaps the dark haired mage would leave the ‘old man’ with the bill by accident.

Luckily the fellow caught on quick so Faeral cleared his throat with a swig of the tart juice, ”Issues…you don’t say? Pray tell then: what difficulties are you suffering from then? And just what kind of ‘assistance’ are you looking for? Just to warn you now, the cost of my services tend to rise the more troublesome a task is, so please take that into consideration.” Heavens knows he could use help, but he refused to offer any air of desperation because fodder could be found even in this tavern with its drunken idiots. Competent help however required special negotiations and tests, so if the man was truly clever then it might make this all the more interesting.

The jerk of the man's head would tell a lot about how the conversation was going. He was being given the chance to sit down and talk with the person who may have just the information he needed to get everything figured out. Rasparov quietly took a seat, directly across from the person he was just meeting, and listened to the man introduce himself in between a bite of food. A name, a name was a good sign. It didn't seem like the man was lying to him about it as well, even better. Knowing each other's names meant that the name could hold no power over the other. Neither was just a 'mysterious stranger' whom could control everything. Then the conversation got to what he had used to introduce himself; why he needed help.

”I've worked out at plenty of the docks around here, and made friends as I've done so. One of those friends had a wife, had. Apparently slavers took her recently while she went out shopping, though I don't see why she would be out alone at night.”

He stopped talking for a moment, a man walking too closely for his comfort. He waited a few seconds after he left before speaking up again.

”I have been poking around into rumors about the names you mentioned earlier, and I believe I know where they are located. Thing is, I can't just walk in by myself. I'm good with my swords, but not good enough to take on an entire slaver operation single-handedly.”

The Rune Knight hoped that Faeral had something he would be getting out of this as well. He really didn't have any kind of compensation he could give the man out of pocket or personal belongings. Surely the man wasn't about to give up either of his swords, the crystal eyed mage had used them for too long to just let them go. The tall man awaited a response from the man eating his food, hoping he could get him to help out so he could take down the operation as quick as possible.

’Hmf,’ the man mentally huffed, ’trying to figure out what happened to a friend’s loved one. Must be something of a looker to be snatched up by this lot.’ Then again that was rather presumptuous of him: he didn’t know the slavers’ standards after all. Maybe any living, breathing female would do for their business since they didn’t all have to be alluring to make some money. Slaves were slaves. If they could make a sandwich then the women were worth something in some man’s eyes.

He almost asked in a bored tone, ”And why do you care?” Almost. It probably had something to do with this budding friendship he mentioned moments ago, but the story felt a bit off for reasons he couldn’t quite peg. Then again, what did he care? As long as this random Joe Schmoe didn’t stab him in the back and turn out to be one of the very people he wanted to take down then all would be well. If he wasn’t one of them, something Faeral couldn’t be too sure about. ’Or looking to join up with them and have a head on a platter to get into good graces,’ he tacked on as an afterthought.

Even if death wasn’t a worry of his, the man would prefer not to reenter the cycle of reincarnation quite yet as there were things he wanted to accomplish in this life first. Revenge could be so sweet, especially when earned just the way he liked it. Some stupid little gang wouldn’t get in his way so down they had to go. Leaning back in his chair, Faeral shrugged, ”Very well, if it’s a temporary partner in crime you’ve got your man as you’re in luck: there’re people willing to pay for their downfall. My one request is this: we take them alive. There’s a sweet little bounty for their heads, albeit alive, and I can always use the money.” He visible soured, as if an unpleasant or annoying thought crossed his mind, before it vanished and he regarded the odd man with a cool and closed expression, ”Agreed?”

The fact he already knew where these people were helped in his favor as well, ensuring Faeral didn’t need to squander his father’s money on another snitch. Those people could be so unpleasant even if he’d have to keep an eye on this mysterious man just in case he turned traitor.

Post by Rasparov 28th July 2015, 6:58 pm

It seemed like the story had passed, at leas enough for Faeral to agree to a temporary partnership. The Rune Knight couldn't be sure on how much the other man could trust him, or how much he could trust the man that was agreeing to help him out now. For all either of them knew, they could be working for the slavers in question and had heard about someone looking for them. It was a grim thought, that either of them could believe the other was a possible traitor from the start, but he would make sure to keep an eye on him in case it turned out to be the case.

It was good that the bounty on their heads was there, that meant both of them had the same goal on the leaders of the group; capturing them alive. The Rune Knight would receive the bounty as well, which would be a nice sum of money to put into his operations account for future jobs. ”I can agree with that request. Monetary gain isn't my intended goal, but it a nice plus to knowing I'm saving my friends girl.” He had known about the money involved, as the Rune Knights were fully knowledgeable on the slaver problem. Not that he could easily tell the other man that just yet. He only wanted to reveal his status if it was completely necessary, not just on a whim.

The tall man slowly stood up, his eye patch barely shifting in the process which he fixed pretty quickly. The crystal eye hadn't shown, but he definitely didn't want the other man seeing it just yet. He wasn't sure if his temporary partner was a mage, or just an interested party. For all he knew he could be useless in combat and just along for the ride. He would stick to his weapons until he knew otherwise. A hand would reach out to Faeral, open for a handshake if the other man was willing to give on. ”So we have ourselves a little contract here? We work together on shared interest and take them alive?” A friendly smile across his face could be seen as his only visible eye closed with it; the hidden one not needing to blink due to the nature of it.

Liberation of the People Empty Re: Liberation of the People

Post by Rohma 29th July 2015, 3:45 am

The fact he didn’t want some sort of vengeance on these people for the kidnapping, at least to the degree of wanting their heads on a silver platter, spoke a few whispers of knowledge. Either this man could keep his cool, or the friendship wasn’t anything strong that the man took this crime personally. ’Well, no matter,’ he decided, happy the fellow easily agreed to the no killing, ’As long as he doesn’t renege on that condition things will be fine.’

Done with his meal, Faeral stood up only to stop and stare at the hand extended before him nonplussed. Blinking once, twice, thrice he grasped the limb and shook it with just enough firmness – because he didn’t need to prove anything as far as he cared. The man despised it when business partners went that extra length to try and intimidate or prove something nonverbally by squeezing his hand, as if they could force a spot of weakness if his signature was a little sloppier or something. Except the irony was the fact the handshake took place after the signing of documents generally.

”Indeed, alive.” Of course how much alive could be debated, but Faeral expected some resistance and as long as the people breathed then the condition hardly mattered.

They left the overly noisy joint behind, Faeral leading them towards the lesser trudged streets – especially at this time of night. Might as well fill the man in a bit on some of the details as he spoke softly, yet audible now that they lacked a rambunctious surrounding, ”They have a decent enough sized setup here in Hargeon by some amazing feat – as you’d think Lamia Scale might not take too kindly to sketchy things happening in their city. It’s not the full operation of course, but it’s certainly a fair chunk of it since they gather up women – locals, visitors, etcetera – as well as bringing in some quarry from neighboring areas. They’re shipped out to other places to be sold at secret auctions for whatever purposes their clientele desire. They do tend to be quick about sending out stock though, so if it’s been awhile since your friend’s wife disappeared it might be too late and require a bit of tracking down, but if nothing else busting this operation might help score some useful info.”

He shrugged, not overly concerned himself with some stranger and confident enough he’d be seeing his equivalent to a best friend – not counting a certain ice cream haired woman – soon. If the man had any luck at all and he’d missed the window of opportunity to save this random woman, then maybe she’d be in the same shipment and escape by proxy. Morphine didn’t take too kindly to being locked up, and would wreak some havoc upon the people. Sometimes she could be kind even, likely to save those captive with her. ’Well, they’ll be lucky either way even if his friend isn’t.’ It was only the tip of the iceberg however.

Post by Rasparov 30th July 2015, 8:56 pm

It took a moment for the other man to accept the handshake, blinking at his hand a few times before doing one of mediocre caliber. Clearly the other man felt no need for such things, or had a lifestyle that never really required them. But given he had been playing the dock worker part, he had felt the handshake would push more into the physical realm of contracts and agreements. He wanted to try and keep the charade going for as long as possible, to keep the unknown partner happy until they got to a point where combat was a necessity. At that point it would be impossible for him to hide his swordsmanship, or that both his swords were specialized to the point where one would have a greater chance of personal injury rather than successfully using it on something else.

It wasn't long after the shaking of hands that the man known as Faeral led them out of the building and outside. Walking amongst the alleys, and side streets, where few people often went through this late at night, the temporary partner began a flood of information that Rasparov would begin to start memorizing as he was told it. It was amazing that the slavers had managed to get their operation so big right under Lamia Scale's collective noses. Even a smidgeon of knowledge would have brought the massive guild out to scour the town until they had everyone involved. It was obvious the well dressed man had more knowledge from sources the Rune Knight didn't have access to, as he began to tell about HOW the operation went on after they kidnapped the women; down to how they were sold.

He listened quietly, and intently, as the man finished his delivery of information with a plug on finding the created friend's wife, or at least information on where she may have ended up. ”I hope she's still here. I'd hate to have to tell my friend that, even after succeeding in getting as far as busting up the operation, finding his wife was outside my control other than information that could only be turned over to the authorities.” The words were one's filled with hope, but not of confidence. One couldn't be too confident when they didn't know what was around the corner, not when they weren't supposed to have any kind of intense training in either combat or magic. He walked quietly along after that, just listening to the other if he chose to speak. If not, it was just two walking silently along the alleys to reach the docks that would bring them to the slaver's operation.

Twirling the cane as he spoke, appearing for all the world as casual he noticed a budding problem as the man mentioned what a bummer it’d be to let his friend down at that juncture of success. Yes, what a sad fact if he couldn’t help this poor woman, well whatever. Plenty of women before her suffered and this gent couldn’t seem to pay them a mind, now could he? Faeral supposed the man lacked faith in the police forces and even the Rune Knights, though he certainly couldn’t blame the fellow. Rather than deal with this themselves the Rune Knights posted a bounty, shrugged their shoulders, and went about their business.

Right now however, they seemed to be getting surrounded as two fellows started following behind a few seconds ago. Faeral thought he spied another man down a nearby alleyway as they’d passed so he wouldn’t be surprised if another one or two cropped up in a moment. Rather than continue the flow of information Faeral settled for a bout of silence as if they were merely two…mismatched friends, the kind that somehow came to be the best of buds even if others couldn’t fathom how it came to be. Yes, a companionable silence indeed as he even started whistling a jaunty tune he heard the other day.

As stone gave way to wood their little tag along duet stopped for a simple reason: ahead of them two more people popped up. The man who the business man spied earlier made his presence known atop the nearby warehouse.

”Now, where might y’all be goin’ on this fine night?” The voice came from behind as each fellow started brandishing their shiny new swords.

’Eager greenhorns or men who take excellent care of their weapons? Well…no matter, they know…’

Liberation of the People Empty Re: Liberation of the People

Post by Rasparov 31st July 2015, 1:30 pm

So it seemed that the two men had finally drawn an interest in some group. Whether it was the slaver operation, or some other group, was yet to be determined until after they revealed themselves. It was shortly after his words left his mouth that he realized they were being followed. Two men, a small distance apart from each other, were trying to silently walk with them. Peripheral vision would allow him to see one in an alley that they walked past as the two walked silently along; two odd friends silently walking to the docks for who knows what at night. It would have been slightly suspicious to anyone, but sending out a small group to take care of someone you didn't know anything about seemed a bit of overkill. 'Of course,' the Rune Knight thought as the man next to him began to whistle some cheerful song, 'they don't know there's someone from Intelligence here. Poor saps.'

It wasn't long before the steps of their feet were pounding against wood instead of stone that they were forced to stop; two more showing up ahead to keep them from doing so. With two ahead, two behind them, and the one showing on the roof of a warehouse near them, they had five men to the two that were surrounded. A voice from behind asked a question, the threat overwhelming instead of underlying in it. With the words came swords, shiny ones. They appeared to be new, which bode well for the two of them. New weapons in an operation could only mean two things; new recruits or they lost weapons recently. Given that there was five of them, all with the same clean weapon, Rasparov was inclined to believe they were new recruits.

The pair was not really given time to speak, five eager recruits ready to do their mission as fast as the possibly can, as suddenly the group was trying to press in closer to keep them from escaping the death squad. Not wanting to reveal himself as a Rune Knight too soon, the man drew a single weapon of the two on his back. Aptly named Chameleon, the weapon could be magically charged to alter the elemental properties of it for fighting. He used both hands for the one weapon, different from the dual wielding style he was used to, and avoided the reflex of charging the blade with some kind of element to scare them off. Any man could learn to use a single sword, at least enough to fend off people that were new with their weapons.

He took a step at the men in front of them, swinging the sword horizontally to hit one man's cutlass just above the hand guard. The force from the blow was more than he was used to, the weapon leaving the rookie's hand as foot came out to hit him in the stomach. The wheeze that left the initiate's mouth was pitiful as he fell to the ground, face first. The crystal eyed knight doubted the man had even really had to deal with a hit that hard. A step back would avoid an over the head slash from the second man ahead of them, the Rune Knight swinging the sword downward after it to smash it into the wood that they were walking on. The blade stuck, and before the slaver could remove it he found a left jab hitting the side of his head as Rasparov let go of the sword with the his left hand.

’Eager beavers, hmm?’ Smoothly Faeral turned on the ball of his foot, looking to the newly indoctrinated henchmen as if he glided along the ground to face back against back with his partner. Avoiding the overly dramatic – and wholly unnecessary – back-to-back stance since they hadn’t been quite swarmed, and honestly he didn’t trust the man enough Faeral pulled out the sword hidden in his walking cane with a slight flourish. Why not give these gents a small show? As he extracted the blade above his head it caught a bit of light, and he smirked for but a moment as the two before him balked slightly.

It really wasn’t a special weapon at all, more a simple means of immediate protection than anything. However the right moves and attitude provided all the leverage he might require in this situation, albeit the fact he could swing this sword well enough didn’t hurt. In his right the blade sat and in the other rested the scabbard, both held out at his sides and towards the ground as if to silently say, “Come at me.” His expression changed though when he heard the clattering of a sword behind him, and guessing the man raised his brow as if to ask, “Really?”

This ticked off the duet before him, able to easily read the visual taunts and bravado came rushing back. ’There we go!’ he thought with a small hint of excitement, eyes widening before he dashed forward. It happened so fast that the other man blinked as if to reconfirm reality, the choking sound next to him worrying enough to slowly turn his head.

”The fuck?!” he cried out, the man’s buddy clutching at his neck as the sword hit the wooden planks. He ignored the sword however, more curious about the liquid now trickling out from the man’s mouth and from beneath his hands as they fought desperately to keep in the precious, lively liquid. Red slowly dripped down to the port, though his eyes whipped around at the sound of multiple drops splattering against the ground.

Sword now clean, the man smiled the way he usually did to push forth that “pleasant business persona” as he regarded the other, still standing man now that the friend dropped down, ”Ah, yes, size isn’t everything.” He gestured to the large cutlass on the ground next to the rapidly dying man, before bringing the thin sword to point directly at his opponent’s neck, smile turning a little cruel, ”It’s even more worthless in the hands of those who cannot use it properly. Now I’ve got a small proposition for you…you can either live and prove somewhat useful to us, or I can gut you now and ask the rest of your friends. It’s your choice, but I only have use for one of you. Decide fast: I’ve got three other possible candidates.” Faeral only half-paid attention to Rasparov, a little curious about his fighting potential for the upcoming hoopla. At the same time the man might as well procure a little additional information where he could.

Liberation of the People Empty Re: Liberation of the People

Post by Rasparov 13th August 2015, 1:45 am

The two that had engaged in combat with him were down. Looking over his shoulder would show that one of those that had fought against Faeral had also been defeated; one of them lying on the ground in a pool of his own blood. 'A life ended, too bad we couldn't get any information out of that one first.' It appeared he had the other handled well enough, the man at sword point and shivering in his boots. The two he had taken out were still breathing, just unconscious from the hits they had taken, but where was the fifth man of the small group that had shown up? His normal eye scanned the area, moving first to the right and then the left, before he saw movement climbing down a ladder in the distance. That was right, the man had been on a rooftop and was now climbing down to try to run.

Putting his sword away as he started into a sprint, Rasparov sprinted towards the man. At full speed he met the man as he turned to begin running. ”You aren't going anywhere!” Rasparov reached the man as his foot left the ground, the new recruit trying to get away before being tackled to the ground. Unfortunately, the tackle ended up with consequences for the slaver that neither expected to happen. Instead of trying to catch himself as he came at the ground, the unnamed man tried to draw his weapon. He only got halfway through, however, before he hit the ground. His stomach sliced open, and Rasparov on top of him pushing down on the wound, the man screamed before starting to flail and deal even more injury to himself. With a sigh the tall man stood up as the man slowly bled out, his own intestines being sliced in the panic the beginner was in.

Being uninjured, Rasparov just glared down at the fool with eyes squinted close to shutting. ”Fool, your own instincts to fight first have killed you. There's nothing I can do to save such a useless creature.” With that said, the Rune Knight turned away and began to walk back to his temporary partner and the last living slaver they had captive. 'Let's hope this one gives something useful...'

Whatever happened behind Faeral must’ve been the final drop in the hat as the man blanched. For a second Faeral even feared he might faint before a word could be uttered as the fellow fell down to his rump, but the man wouldn’t let his prey get too far as the sword followed. The wall ensured the man couldn’t back up another step even as his wavering eyes remained trained on the final member, something his captor would have to get a gander at later. ”I’ll repeat myself just this once: make yourself useful or I’ll move onto an unconscious friend.”

A shaking hand rose, accusatory pointer finger aimed at the tall gent, mouth quaking with his inability to utter – or even stutter – a single syllable. ’Pitiful,’ the exasperated business man jeered. In one swift motion he kneeled, the scabbard dropped and sword moved to the side as the free hand shot out. Time stopped, and it seemed that even the original methodic sound of the waves striking the wooden docks silenced beneath the force of that outrageous and spontaneous “CRACK!” The man’s eyes slowly, as if in disbelief, moved to the finger he’d been pointing and stared at it now pointing back at him at an impossible 45 degree angle. Pain erupted in the joint and a scream almost tore his throat apart if not for the punch that knocked the man’s head against the pavement and jarred all his senses.

”You shouldn’t point fingers at people because there’s always four pointing back at you…but I’ll forgive you this one time. Now,” grabbing a handful of the man’s hair the dark musician yanked him back up, ignoring the sobbing sounds dripping from his weeping trap, ”if you’d kindly, tell me where the hell your little operation is. I haven’t got all night for you to get over your first bad shift so complain to your henchman union later.” When things weren’t going his way (read: the guy continued to sob quietly) Faeral ran an aggravated hand through his hair. ”Fine, guess we’re done here.”

That got the fellow into hysterics, vocalizing pleas against his death and yelps of pain as the mage dragged him towards the dock’s edge. Pressing his head down towards the water, he figured: why not give him one more chance? ”Any last words before you go for a swim?”

”We’re in the second to last warehouse!” he bellowed, the statement ending on a hiccup as the man attempted not to choke on built up mucus, ”I don’t know where they keep the stock, they won’t tell us new guys! I swear, we’re there, we’re there!”

”Excellent, your other two friend’s lives depend on this information. Your’s depends how well you deal with currents and a boot to the head.” Before the man could utter a confused “Wuh?” Faeral kicked him in the head. Hard. Erika style. And then shoved him over the dock with a disgusted scowl, ’If you live then next time answer the damn questions faster.’

When he turned around it appeared his current partner-in-crime had returned. Nonchalantly Faeral supplied, ”According to our fishy friend it’d appear they’re in the next-to-last warehouse. Should we drag one of the other two along or simply leave them both tied up and out of the way?”

Liberation of the People Empty Re: Liberation of the People

Post by Rasparov 17th August 2015, 1:06 am

Rasparov didn't get to hear everything the last slaver said, mostly just hearing sobs and tears and some yelling that he was unable to translate as the poor untrained man sobbed like a teething child with nothing to put in it's mouth. He sighed at the pitiful sight or a grown man reduced to tears at the death of those around him. Let's hope that the more trained ones in the group have a little bit more dignity and bravado. These were just too pitiful to even consider humans.' It was as he thought this that he watched Faeral kick the man in the head. The sound of the hit would have startled some, thought Rasparov just kept making his way over to the man. The splash of the final recruit hitting the water could be heard as his current partner turned to face him. In a nonchalant tone, the tall man in his company gave him the information they had been searching for; the location of the warehouse they were located in.

”Well, we should probably start moving and just leave them here. I'm sure they'll send another group to check up on them soon. I know I wouldn't trust this many greens to do something right...” It wasn't long after he spoke this that footsteps could be heard a long way off in the distance, the echoes carrying to their ears and telling them they should probably get themselves hidden before they had a lot more to deal with. A waving of his hand would signal 'follow me' as the man slowly walked down one of the alleys in the opposite direction of the footsteps echoing about. Even going this roundabout way it would not take them long to reach the warehouse the slaver recruit had given them. With luck they would be able to find the ringleaders of the whole thing and catch them without having to fight off wave after wave of lackeys.

’Hmm…I’d prefer they not return to bite us in the butt…but I suppose I can let it pass.’ Given how royally they trumped these new hires the fellows might just crawl on home after this and pray to the gods they were left alone. A curious thought, maybe one he’d follow up on at a later date….after all Morphine might like a snack with a side of vengeance as it proved a nice spice of life at times.

The man moved to pick up his scabbard, having cast it away in the throes of dragging the man along and sheathed the sword. ”Very well, probably better not to bother with dead weight anyways.” Besides now that he thought about it, bringing one along even as a potential guide could turn problematic. ’Would be a nuisance if he tried calling out or purposefully getting us caught. I doubt they’d make for any decent hostage anyhow.’ Footsteps signaled more trouble, declaring that they either move along or make another stand.

Rather than take on possibly more troublesome louts they kept buildings between them and the group, various bits of conversation audible as a man or two talked to possible a group or small squad.

”The hell?! You better not all be worthless-“

    ”Spread out, they-“

    ”But sir-“

They weren’t close enough to catch too much and the others didn’t seem nearly angry enough to spend most of the time shouting. On the plus side the people made enough noise that hiding or outright avoiding them was possible, especially for two fellows who knew the merits of stealth, treading softly, and not speaking above a whisper if they even bothered. ’Perhaps they were recruited from Henchmen R Us? They’re not known for their quality…’

Actually getting in might’ve been one of the easier parts and yet most nerve-wracking parts given the higher levels of activity. The operation, as large as it might’ve been overall, wasn’t too bustling here, but people continued to walk about at irregular intervals. They’d basically had to wing it upon entering, hoping they wouldn’t run into someone since nothing could be timed. Faeral allowed Mr. Kimovich – he wasn’t quite sure if it was an exotic first name or a simple last name – to lead the way. It came natural, the other man more knowledgeable on the area and quite frankly, Faeral preferred the bulkier one in the lead…or anyone for that matter for one very simple reason, but he wouldn’t say it aloud.

Liberation of the People Empty Re: Liberation of the People

Post by Rasparov 23rd August 2015, 1:11 am

The stealth laden trip to the warehouse went off without a problem, the two men finding their way into the building easily enough. At least he had training in that, and a lot of experience in it as well! The hard part would be trying to find the two bosses of the operation while also remaining hidden from the people that may be wandering the halls of the place. Someone could come around any corner, from any direction, at any time while they were here. With that in mind Rasparov continued staying in the lead for the two of them. The twists and turns of the warehouse were easy to memorize, which meant no accidental circling or doubling back to find where they were, and they quickly found some of the women trapped in cages.

That moment was when things grew difficult. The very woman they were there to help rescue by ending the operation were the ones that would jeopardize the mission in the process. Pleas for help, crying, some almost screaming in the process, would cause Rasparov to grimace as he knew there was no way to stop them in time for the slavers around the place to not come rushing in. For all any enemies would know the girls would just be panicking, but that was unlikely. It was very possible that a large amount of slavers would be converging on them pretty soon, or a smaller group of better trained ones. 'Well, at least we'll get to the bosses of the place sooner now.' Rasparov thought to himself as he drew both of his swords. A few more steps forwards, light steps making no noise as he did so, he heard the sound of shoes slapping the ground as an unknown amount of assailants made their way to the disturbance to find out what was going on.

Help would be arriving soon, albeit not the kind any of them wanted. Women flocked around their cages like crazed avians, the sight causing the man to tsk under his breath. ’And father wonders why I won’t settle down with one of his choices: they’d be no better than one of these squabbling hens.’ No, his eyes were seeking out a specific head…or three given the ability to hide her identity. While his temporary partner readied for a fight the musician slipped between the cages and disappeared from sight, though the ladies seemed more focused on the buff and strong presence before them anyhow.

’Perhaps she’s already shipped out then?’ It’d be no matter considering she’d break free sooner or later. These silly cages couldn’t hold the true glory of that woman’s form but…ah, no there she was. Looking a little sullen and pouty at the back of a cage by herself – possibly solitary confinement of sorts – his beloved and closest assistant sat as if expecting him.

”I’m glad to see you milord, but I won’t lie: I expected you a little sooner.”

A smirk graced his lips, ”Ah yes, my apologies Subaru. Had to find a suitable sponge.” Pulling a few picks from an inner jacket pocket he set to work on the thing, though given the rising noise level Faeral could’ve probably used a sledgehammer and no one would be any the wiser. By now the other man was likely fighting whoever deigned to show up to the ruckus, so the questionable mage could take his time…but he supposed he shouldn’t leave the gent waiting too long.

Besides with Subaru standing so close to the door it appeared the woman was eager for a little payback.

Faeral opened the gated door for her with a flourish, finishing the movement to hold out the end of the cane as an offering for her, to which the faithful servant obliged. It was a bit lighter than she liked, but the rapier would have to do for now. Silently and swiftly the snow white haired woman glided around the cages with practiced steps, the man unable to see through the shadows out of the corner of his eye until the blade already came down upon his gun arm. ”Whu-“ The rest of the word or sentence became permanently lodged in his throat, pain first erupting in the man’s gun arm as he’d taken aim at the undercover Rune Knight, and then the blade moving to plunge itself through the soft flesh of his throat.

    Like master like servant.

Liberation of the People Empty Re: Liberation of the People

Post by Rasparov 25th August 2015, 11:28 pm

It wasn't long before they heard the running feet that four men quickly turned the corner to find Rasparov there, already charging them. Each of the four slavers wielded both a gun and a sword, a dangerous combination if they all knew what they were doing and were accurate. With this in mind, the tall Rune Knight ran into the group to keep them from being able to shoot him without risking shooting one of the others of their organization. Seeing that their guns would be useless until they could get him out of their midst, the four all converged on him with their swords. Sadly for their group this was where he was his best in combat, melee range. With chameleon in his left, and viper in his right, Rasparov was clearly trained and practiced for what was about to happen.

Viper would be the first to block a sword, moving the sword to the right stopping a scimitar from slicing in at his neck as he swung Chameleon to his left to cause the two there to jump back. Sliding the sword that had blocked a weapon across his opponents blade, he swung the weapon around as he ducked under the freed blade he had blocked before. The Viper's poison had no need to begin work on the slaver as his blade pierced through to his heart, ending the life before he could feel the nausea of the poison before hitting the ground. He did a semi-turn to his left in time to block another sword as he saw another man running away. Not having time to chase one down as two were left, Rasparov blocked the incoming blade and manage to slice the owner of the weapon's head clean off of this shoulders at the neck before noticing a gun being pointed at him.

Before he had time to react a rapier was coming down to strike the gun arm. The last remaining slaver got out half of a word before he was slain with a stab through the throat, the gurgling and splash of blood making being the last straw from the mayhem that had begun when they had arrived. ”One got away, expect to have the company of those in charge pretty soon.” He said the statement to Faeral, whom had conveniently disappeared when the fighting had begun. 'Hopefully he does something useful when more show up. Not sure how well the bosses of this operation will fight and I really don't want to use my eye until I see what they can do.'

Appearing from behind the nonchalant woman – truly, Faeral admired her “game-face” even if it rarely changed from such – the man hardly looked troubled by this information. ”Duly noted, though in the long run probably makes things easier. And I do apologize for just now: I had to be sure whether or not my associate had already been shipped out. It would seem I was in luck however.” A smile slipped out at the end, though to be fair he experienced a bit of disappointment since she couldn’t later regale him with the tale of breaking out and sinking the ship in her true form.

When the woman silently moved to offer the rapier back he waved her off, instead opting to hand off the scabbard as well since he wouldn’t be needing it. The man had half a mind to offer to find Sir Kimovich’s friend’s lover…wife…whatever the hell the acquaintance was, but the notion just as easily left as footsteps garnered some attention.

”Who dares disrupt my business damn it all?! I have a perfectly good operation goin’ on and a good nap to boot, and I have to hear about some yahoos gallivanting about? You best be prepared mates, cause you’re about to face one hell of a reckoning!” A female voice boomed from the corridor, the sheer volume and annoyance causing even Faeral’s eyebrows to raise, if only a little.

’What a loud and blustering woman. I’m glad Erika’s tones are quieter when she’s angry.’ In fact he quite enjoyed the deadly way her voice turned compared to this noisy female.

With attention likely diverting towards the pair the dark-haired man seized his opportunity to disappear from sight again, grinning to himself. ’Let the show begin~’

Standing out in the open now with Rasparov, Subaru would hold the thin blade in front of her, off-hand keeping the empty sheath behind as her face remained emotionless. It was business time after all.

Liberation of the People Empty Re: Liberation of the People

Post by Rasparov 9th September 2015, 10:02 pm

So he had had someone here he was trying to save. That meant he would have to just go on about how he didn't see her anywhere after this; if he even needed to say anything by the end of the job. "It's fine. I didn't get injured in the process, and it seems that we finally get to see the people in charge of this entire criminal organization.” He kept his voice neutral, not wanting any kind of anger or malice to be going towards who would be called his job partner had this been something from a group of guild mages.

Footsteps gave way to the sight of two people, a man and a woman. The man held a pad of bloodstained cutlasses, the weapons obviously seeing a lot of combat and killing in the time he had had them. The woman, who seemed to be the one in charge, held a gun in each hand; something that wasn't good for one that used swords and close range combat. After the useless words left the woman's mouth Rasparov found himself face to face with the man that had just been next to the head honcho. Reacting instantly, the Rune Knight lifted a chameleon and viper up in time to block both cutlasses as they came in towards his neck. A step back would be made, the tall man swinging stabbing forward with viper as he did so. The sword was pushed out of the way by his opponent, the man easily keeping up with him as he did so.

The sound of gunshots went off, though the sudden sound did not startle the man, causing him to frown as he attempted to strike at the faster man; bearing fruitless results. 'Seems like this will be a fight where my eye will come in handy.'

Well, it’d been surprising that the man’s temporary partner hadn’t been more annoyed at his disappearance, but if that failed then vanishing at this key moment might do the trick. Not that it was the businessman’s intention to tick off the well-built fellow – just that it might be an entertaining secondary reaction. ’Besides it’d be interesting to finally see some true ability from him.’ Either he’d prove to be a capable swordsman or maybe something more interesting lay beneath the surface: only time would tell.

’I suppose the question is what kind of beat to give this bout,’ the man grinned to himself, mentally flipping through a few tracks that might suit the moment. It needed to be something the two could really move to, especially in these tight quarters as he summoned the golden saxophone. Foot lightly tapping as to not give away his position the tune would fill the warehouse as the walls provided an ample amplifier, the sudden sound of music quelling even the panic of the woman if only mostly due to confusion as the jazzy tune danced around them. It might not be much by some standards, but he could still provide an extra edge to his two allies in their movements, ensuring they could execute maneuvers with a little extra precision.

As the jam hit her ears Subaru didn’t bat so much as an eye, completely used to her master doing as he pleased. Besides it was hard not to want to move a little to such a song as she dashed forward, managing to avoid the gentleman’s charge. She couldn’t allow the angry captain to interfere, dashing about as the woman fired bullet after bullet in her wake. Large crates shuddered a foot this way and that as smaller ones completely went airborne for a few seconds from the impact of the explosive bullets. Left in the white-haired woman’s wake were petals, seemingly popping out from nowhere as she dashed about, ignored thanks to the bouts of clouds until the woman believed she had a good shot.

”Gotcha, bitch,” she murmured all too pleased until there was a sudden wall of rose petals, ”What the-?” Teeth clenched as she shot anyways, yelling in her anger when they blasted apart to reveal nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. She only just managed to block a blow from the sword with one of her guns, shoving the woman away, ”Ya damn petal pusha!”

Liberation of the People Empty Re: Liberation of the People

Post by Rasparov 24th September 2015, 1:13 am

His thoughts about revealing his eye for use were interrupted by the sudden sound of a saxophone originating somewhere from within the room they were all occupying. By the lack of surprise from the woman that had joined the fight, Faeral's partner, the tall man could only assume his acquaintance was the one playing the music. It must have had some kind of magical energy involved, as he felt the power behind the swing of his sword as he struck the opposing slaver's scimitar with chameleon. The slight boost in strength pushed the man back before he ran again, disappearing with great speed before showing back up. Rasparov barely ducked the attack as he swung viper around to attack at the man's leg.

The weapon was masterfully blocked, or so the speed mage thought before the crystal souled man pressed a button on the handle of the bladed weapon. A metal on metal sound would be heard as the sword became a bladed whip surprise, the eye patched man pulling up and swinging outward. The weapon struck across the man's leg before he ran off again, only to show up within moments to vomit on the ground a few feet away. Not wanting to allow the man to recover from the wave of nausea, the man whom had yet to use his magic let loose a blow with the hilt of the blade to the man's head; the green faced man falling to the ground to be dealt with later.
