"No!" she cried as a shot was fired towards her partner, hitting her while she least expected it. The look of fear and surprise gave her a huge pit in her stomach as Venir looked towards her as if to say how could you do this to me before falling over and bleeding all over the dirt. Lekuna was always too late. Despite her domain being time, she couldn't even make it to the one person she cared about most in her current world. The nightmare was a sick reminder of how weak she actually was as a wielder of magical forces, as she was sure if she had just a little more power she would easily have been able to protect Venir. Lekuna knew she wasn't directly responsible for the monster's sudden decision to target the little one, but deep in her conscience, she felt directly responsible. It was irrational to think of the possibilities of how she could have protected her guild mate and ultimately detrimental, but that didn't stop her from doing it.

And then she woke up. She instinctively went for her pristine pocket watch that sat next to her bed to check the time. It was still early. A week had already past since their last job together, and they both had been seeing each other scarcely around the guild, but that was time to change. Just because she was having terrible nightmares of the past didn't mean all of her progress had to come to a stop. In fact, she figured, maybe if she was strong enough to protect Venir, then maybe her mind would stop torturing her. Upon wiping the sleep from her eyes, she went into her small bathroom to do those things people do in order to keep up with personal hygiene. She brushed and flossed her teeth, took a shower, brushed her hair, and finally changed her clothes to another set of the same thing. The time mage knew she didn't have the best fashion sense, but she just didn't care. Upon making it to the part of the guild that held the job board, she found one that looked relatively easy compared to their last one.

Scare away some thugs... should be pretty easy she thought before going to Venir's room, a girl whom was most likely still sleeping after staying up all night, or at least that's how Venir's exploits played out in Lekuna's head. After knocking twice, hard, she slid the page under her door and said "I'll be waiting at the guild entrance, if you decide to tag along". With that, she walked towards the entrance to the guild which was sporting a view of tons of snow, as always, and sat down. The breeze was nice, when it was just a breeze. When it turned into a chilly reminder of your impending death on the other hand, it was not so nice. She shivered, not because of the cold, but because of what she was reminded of every time she looked out into the snowy wastes.

    Close your eyes
    give me your hand

She wasn't depressed, no that simply wasn't in her nature. However, the girl was exhibiting signs of depression yet that still wasn't exactly the word to describe what she was feeling. She had slept for a few days after returning from the Unknown Lands with Lekuna, her wounds tended to while she was passed out. After awakening, Venir found that she simply didn't want to do anything. All she did for days was simply sit in her room only leaving it when absolutely necessary. This was abnormal for the incredibly social girl, just sitting in her room in silence was almost unheard of. "I'm not depressed." She whispered out loud, her fingers absentmindedly circling a scar just above her hip. She wasn't sad or lonely, but she was undeniably empty of her usual brightness, in its place fear had taken over.

    "What am I?"

It echoed over and over again in her head, her finger still tracing the physical remnants that the bullet had left on her body. The wound was long since healed but like a child who picked at their scabs Venir poked at the scar. It was a little indent perhaps half an inch at most but it didn't feel right to her. There was a part of her that wanted to leave her room, to go out and talk to her guild mates but at the same time she wanted to ponder in silence while poking at that little scar. A sudden knocking upon her door startled her. "Oh no I'm not ready to talk!" Venir panicked thinking that perhaps the guild master or Katherine had come to have a talk with her. Instead a piece of paper was slipped underneath the crack of the door and a voice was heard from outside. It sounded almost unfamiliar to Venir as it had been a week since the two mages had last spoken to one another.

The platinum blonde sat idly for a few moments, fingers still tracing the circular scar. However, dull red eyes couldn't help but drift over at the paper upon the floor, Lekuna's earlier words echoing in her ears. She still made no move to get off her bed and instead stared at the simple piece of paper. It was there again, the feeling of wanting to go out but the other darker feeling of wanting to just stay in her room. "I can't let her go by herself though...." With that thought in mind Venir rolled out of her bed, carefully picking her way over to the paper. She gave it a glance over before sighing, "I have to do this!"

    ~*~

It didn't take long for Venir to get ready considering it felt like she had nothing but time on her hands for the last few days. She was bundled up tightly in a warm jacket and scary, her platinum hair pulled up into a bun making her look almost mature. At the guild entrance she caught sight of her usual partner but she didn't run up to the time mage. In fact her approach was rather quiet compared to how she would normally. "Lekuna!" Venir finally called out, her own voice sounding strange in her ears, was she choking up? There was a distance of sorts between them, not a large one but it felt impossibly large to Venir. She wasn't afraid of the time mage anymore but she didn't know how to voice that to Lekuna. There was still a certain fear there but it was not the fear of Lekuna but the fear of hurting her. She was now perfectly aware of what she was capable of and it terrified Venir that if push came to shove she could hurt the time mage.

"Here's the job description..." She held the paper out with a shaky hand, her warm breath puffing out into the chilly air. She was clearly trying to grasp for words, trying to figure out how to let Lekuna know that she was okay. "This job sound fun huh?" She asked trying to give Lekuna a half-hearted smile, in the spirit of the other jobs they had taken together.

"Sure does, though it's-" she began but stopped, what was she going to say? It was a step down from nightmarish purgatory where my evil clone shot you and made you realize you were capable of hurting me?. Lekuna knew all along that Venir was capable of hurting her. From what she had seen, Venir definitely had power within her that was quite apparent, she was just shocked that her partner was as surprised as she was. Throughout the week, Lekuna wanted to visit her and help Venir with her getting better more badly than anything else, but she knew she couldn't. The card mage was still scared of her following the incident and she weighed her options, finding the one where she left Venir alone was better. Sometimes, she would find herself standing right outside Venir's room, half expecting it to open and half wanting to go in. Her hand was always ready to knock on the door, but she could never bring herself to do it.

Instead, she retired to her room after each of those instances and worked on small machines in her room. Although Lekuna didn't have an infinite supply of parts and what have you, she was still resourceful and find things around the guild to make into simple machines. The Venir situation wasn't even her only problem. Adapting to the *entire* situation here in Fiore was very difficult to her, though no one so much had asked how she was doing. They simply inducted her into the guild, pointed her to the job board, and gave her a pat on the back. Life here was a lot different from than in Bosco, where there were actual machines aside from the basic *stove*. In Bosco they had things that made everyday life easier, such as electrically powered ovens that would heat up bread and toast it, not here. The most technologically advanced thing in Fiore was plumbing, and that made it very hard for her to adapt.

Those problems took a bit of a backseat thanks to Venir however, though they still lingered and bothered her to no end. She seemed a bit off, not back to her normal self, but at least she came out of the room to go on the job with her. "Yeah, I suppose. Says here we get a free meal if we scare off those thugs, and by then, we would have worked up quite the appetite" she said, trying to be agreeable with Venir before pointing her thumb over her shoulder towards the guild door, signaling they should be on their way.

Venir caught on to what Lekuna was gonna say her voice twisting into a grimace for a moment. She could be oddly perceptive for a child. "Though it's probably gonna be a piece of cake for us huh?" She quickly cut in doing her best to lighten the rather somber mood between them. It clearly didn't do what Venir had wanted it to but still the two were slowly working it back up to where they had been before. Venir had only given the job a quick glance over while in her room so she didn't catch the meal part but she seemed rather happy about it. "A free meal?" Her stomach audibly growled at the thought, "Then let's hurry and get this job done! I'm hungry!" She gave the time mage another smile, albeit awkward, but she was lightening up. Not wasting time she moved towards the guild towards not quite running but not quite walking, simply moving just fast enough to once more put distance between the two mages.

Giving the doors a hard push they finally gave way to the little girls brute strength and slid open with a creak. Venir was promptly met with a cold breeze that nipped at her nose and cheeks. The snow had built up to be at least waist high for Venir. "Oh!" She gasped looking at what was practically a wall of snow in front of her. She sent a quick glance over to Lekuna before looking once more at the snow. "I can do this..." With that thought the child took a step forward into the snow. She waddled forward a bit, each step causing her to shiver. The snow didn't move out of her way as she walked, if anything she was like a tiny bulldozer trying to go through so the snow kept accumulating in front of her. Finally perhaps only a few feet out into the snow Venir stopped. "I'm stuck!" She couldn't move herself forward anymore. She turned once more to Lekuna, sniffling and shivering now. Her nose and cheeks were bright red nearly rivaling her crimson irises. While most children enjoyed the snow Venir wasn't particularly fond of it. Or rather she liked it when there was only a little bit of it and she had nowhere to go.

Lekuna was surprised that Venir caught on to what she was about to say, but simply ignored the face as the damage had already been done. Was she always so perceptive? The question popped into Lekuna's head and quickly left her, as it really didn't matter at this point. Her younger partner had also picked up on the fact that this job was going to be an easy one, something that Lekuna didn't doubt in the slightest. She picked the job *because* it was easy, after all, not simply because it looked nice up on the job board. Some thugs terrorizing a restaurant didn't even compare, as she was about to say, to what they had done before. Upon a few minutes exiting the guild hall, the small girl was stuck in snow that was a few inches deep, causing Lekuna to chuckle a bit. The powerful prodigy beaten by a few inches of snow she thought with a smile as she helped Venir out of it and got along on their way.

    =TRAVEL HAPPENS=

They finally reached the restaurant in Hargeon Town after a semi-pleasant trek to the seaside from the Phoenix Mountains. It sure was a long walk, but they were used to traveling long distances by this point. "I guess this is the place" she said, looking down towards Venir then back at the wooden doors that greeted them warmly. The day was pretty beautiful and if she didn't know any better, she would even say that there wasn't anything bad going on. When she entered, she looked around and the place was nearly empty. No wonder they couldn't pay the thugs she thought before approaching the front counter. "I'm here for the job" she told the man at the front. "Ah yes, those damnable thugs should be here to collect the 'protection' money soon. When they get here, you should know what to do" he responded, seemingly happy that there were mages that actually took on this job. It was higher up on the job board, sure, but from the description, it seemed relatively mundane. Oh well, she'd see for herself why fewer mages took on this job.

"Ah thank you." She muttered as Lekuna helped her out of the snow. She gave a forlorn glance to the path they would have to walk on. There was simply no way she could get through all that snow on her own. Venir moved so that she was directly behind Lekuna and followed along silently. She delicately placed her own small feet in the footsteps that the time mage created upon the snow. Slowly, and surely she followed the time mages steps so that her own journey was easier.

    -Insert travel here-
The hardest part of any journey was getting in and out of the Phoenix mountains. The harsh terrain, harsh weather, and occasionally harsh inhabitants was Eclipse Soul's best defense. Once out of the mountains it wad relatively easy to get to Hargeon Town. "Isn't it nice to finally be out of the snow?" Venir chimed in as she squirmed out of her heavy coat. The warm sunshine was more than enough to bring a smile to her face, "When was the last time I felt the sun on my skin? I was in my room for so long..." The fresh air and sun was quickly raiding her spirits after so much gloom.

"It looks alright. Kind of bland." It really wasn't anything special, it did have a rather homey feel to it though. "Not nearly as cool as the cosplay cafe." Despite how utterly embarrassing that cafe was to Venir, she also found that it was rather fun. "Maybe they'll turn into a cosplay restraunt after we scare the thugs away."She pondered as she entered with Lekuna, glancing about the empty restraunt. The smell of food was the most pleasant thing in there. It made her already empty stomach rumble in anticipation. Venir eagerly watched Lekuna and the man interact, eagerly hoping that they'd hurry up and finish the mission so she could eat. The man gave Lekuna a strange look obviously unsure of the child the time mage brought along but he said nothing of it. Soon enough Venir was at the windows of the restraunt peering outside at strangely empty streets. Off in the distance she could almost make out some figures approaching, "Lekuna?" She asked while waving the other mage over so she could also see the figures.

Lekuna's attention was caught by Venir who seemed to be looking outside the window. The owner of the restaurant gulped in fear, fear that they were approaching and fear that the child mage would be useless, or worse, get hurt. Lekuna walked over to the window to see why she was waving her hand around and saw two very well dressed men with suits, ties, and hats approaching the eatery. They were distinctly out of place, like they were from some other country, but that didn't matter to her as much as the fact that they were coming towards the two mages whom were tasked with defending the so-so establishment that they were running here. "If that doesn't yell 'organized crime', I don't know what does" she said before sitting down in a closest to the counter and urging her partner to follow close.

The wooden doors let out an echoing creak upon the entry of the well dressed men who donned black suits for the occasion. They were almost cartoonishly evil, though bad or not, Lekuna and Venir had a job to do. When they approached the counter and demanded the money, the owner looked towards the table reactively, allowing Lekuna the opportunity she needed to stand up from the chair and walk towards the gentlemen. "He's not going to give you your money. Please leave and never come back" she said, thinking that she totally nailed the negotiation and finished the job peacefully. Not really, though if she was duller she probably would've. "Yeah? And who's gonna stop us" one of them piped up, knocking over a wooden napkin stand to the floor.

"That would be us" she said, pointing to Venir before looking back at the two men. They both began to laugh hysterically after a few seconds of tense silence, breaking it into a million pieces. "Wow... you must really... be running low on funds if... this was the best... you could hire" the other said, trying to catch his breath between words. Lekuna resented that comment a bit. The least they could do was take her and her partner a bit more seriously, though she would show them, she would show both of them.

"Mhmm! They have to be the bad guys!" Venir nodded her head, platinum hair bouncing with the motion. She watched the men approach for a moment longer before following after Lekuna. She slid into the seat next to Lekuna, listening attentively for the men to enter. Upon hearing the creak of the door, Venir stiffened next to Lekuna. It wasn't that she was afraid it was more like she was anxious? Nervous maybe? Lekuna's voice startled Venir causing the girl to watch her approach the two men. "Oh no what do I do? Do I follow? Or should I stay?" She remained seated until one of the men knocked over a napkin stand, creating a loud clatter. The owner of the restaurant had taken a few steps back from the rising tension in the room. Clambering up to her feet Venir gave her best glare to the men, a rather frightening look in her red eyes but her childish face made it seem almost silly.

The men's sudden laughter made Venir pause in confusion for a moment with a dumbfounded look on her face. "These guys are weird." She couldn't help but think as she did her best to maintain a somewhat serious face. The insult would have been brushed over if not for the fact that Lekuna was there. "You can't talk about Lekuna like that! Apologize!" Venir demanded her voice cutting through the air like a knife. One of the men snorted and the other had to try and contain another fit of laughter. "Come on apologize and just leave the owner alone or else!" Venir attempted once more, it would make her more than happy to avoid a fight if possible.

    "Or what kiddie?"

The man's face grew suddenly dark as he looked upon the two. Sending one last glance to Lekuna Venir let out a breath of air she didn't realize she had been holding. "Or this!" With a firm tug the young mage yanked off the charm to her bracelet and her transformation began. Its flashiness did not go unnoticed by the two men. Despite her being young the fact that she was a mage seemed to have startled them. Even though it was a silly transformation with a pink frilly dress and staff, it still alerted them. If Venir was a mage than more than likely, the dark haired woman was one as well.

"Shit we got mages! Go get the others!"

One of the men stayed as the other rushed out to go get the apparent backup. By now the owner of the restaurant had lost all color in his face. He had asked them to scare away the thugs but he didn't imagine that they would be fighting in his restaurant.

Venir, being the child that she was, lost her temper relatively quickly, not that her partner could really blame her. These thugs were pretty rude, underestimating then for whatever reason, but soon realized the error of their ways the minute that Venir revealed that she was a mage. She could've waited longer before doing that, but she's just a kid. I'll have to bring it up with her later that just because you can fight someone doesn't mean you should the time mage thought, looking at the body guard who was about to try and fight both of them. "Look, we don't have to fight. My offer still stands, just leave them be" she said, gesturing to Venir to not let him have it just yet.

"We can't, the boss doesn't tolerate failure, and at least I'll live a little longer if I get beat and jailed by you two" he said, shaking with his hands up before punching an unsuspecting time mage. Blood from her cut lip slowly dripped down as she processed that these criminals made a single mistake and now can't oppose their leader. The tough guy act probably scared people enough so that they didn't have to fight too often, but it was obvious that he didn't plan on winning the fight. That didn't stop him from trying, though. Like a dog backed into a corner, he used all his might and energy to try and win.

The room spun around before she hit the wooden floor, hard. She expected him to surrender, but just the opposite happened. "Don't say I didn't warn you" she said, her head still ringing from the impact if the blow. As she stumbled up, her vision focused and she had a feeling that Ven would be going after the man who decked get with the brass knuckles. There was another man who soared though, Lekuna's opponent who commanded the other two thugs to guard the exit in case they tried to escape.

She, now knowing negotiating was out of the question, ran at the man who just entered, grabbing a small object off one of the tables and tinkering with it before coming to a halt right before reaching the criminal who blocked his face. Curious that he wasn't struck, he lowered his hands and opened his eyes only to get a face full of salt prior to a hard snap kick that sent him out the door screaming and clawing at his eyes in a hunched over position.

At least, Venir did not initially charge at the men who had dared to insult Lekuna. While, it seemed that Venir was a bit hasty to fight she didn't actually want to have to hurt these men. She simply wanted to make a point in proving that Lekuna and herself were more than what they seemed. She let the older woman try and talk things out with the thugs, all the while she gave them her harshest glare. One moment it seemed like the man wasn't going to attack despite his words and then next thing Venir knew his fist was flying at the time mage, and blood was spilled. "Lekuna!" She gasped, gritting her teeth and glaring at the man. She quickly slipped her hand into her card holster pulling out one of her cards. The man had caught on to what she was doing and rushed at her.

"Ah!" She shrieked diving to the side, her small stature allowing her to avoid him with ease. She rolled beneath a table, her small body able to squeeze into what little space was provided. "Include!" She whispered absorbing the card into her staff and awaiting for her attacker to come and get her. Feeling a hand grasp at the back of her hair, Venir let out another shriek this time laced with a twinge of pain. She flailed kicking her legs out managing to hit hard enough to make him grunt and release her. Once more, she rolled her way out of grabbing distance. "Shoot!" She pointed her staff at the man who barely registered her words as a bolt of electricity hit him in the chest. Her convulsed once or twice before hitting the ground unconscious.

She turned around just in time to see her partner in crime give one of the men a face full of salt. She marveled for a moment at the time mage's ingenuity before dashing to her side. Stopping a few feet away from Lekuna Venir winced slightly at the man's shrieks, their loudness hurting her ears. "Think they're scared yet?" She inquired, holding her staff at the ready while carefully watching the screaming man and the two guard by the door.

I can't summon a weapon. Not enough time. This isn't good she then thought while the two men tried to tackle her down. The time mage quickly ducked down, leaving the two thugs to headbutt each other and daze them long enough for Lekuna to go back inside with one of the men following through the door. I can't fight them head on. Not without a weapon. Time to think of a way out. Venir was shooting her opponent with some kind of spell, so the time mage couldn't quite rely on the younger girl to assist her in this situation. Thinking of a plan and hoping it would work, she decided to act on her idea and grabbed one of the wooden chairs and smashed it downwards onto the criminal, the chair shattering upon impact into splinters and pieces.

The man kind of grinned of her and asked her if that was her best shot, though she was on a knee and picking up two of the legs to use as makeshift batons. Quickly standing up, Lekuna brought the leg in between her enemy's, causing him to bend over and cup his hands over his groin while letting out a sharp screech of pain. Before the other decided it would be best to provide his friend with back up instead of watching, she clobbered him over the back of his head which was looking down at this point. A loud thud could be heard from the strike, and then another, of the unconscious body hitting the floor. "Unfortunately I do, but not for the right reasons. They're scared for their lives, not of us" she said, thinking about what the man had said.

Venir had taken down one of the men as she did, though there was one left that hadn't yet been incapacitated. "You can't get away, you know" she told him as she walked towards the frightened gangster. Unbeknownst to her, however, he actually could use a weapon. So, cheap tricks like salt or makeshift weapons like wooden chair legs wouldn't be the best option here. She didn't know that though, not yet at least, not until she got just within range before a chain was sent whipping at her like an enraged snake, causing a scar on her upper left cheek before she even knew what hit her. Uh oh

"We'll just have to try harder than huh?" Venir sighed doing her best to think about what might scare a full grown man. Before she could ponder much on how to scare them off Lekuna walked towards the remaining thug. She kept her eyes on the time mage and thug, perhaps she'd learn something from the other mage. Maybe Lekuna had a plan to scare them off? All seemed well until the thug produced a heavy metal chain as soon as Lekuna was in distance. She saw the flash of the metal as it struck her partner and that was it. "Lekuna!" She gasped before narrowing her crimson eyes a the thug who had struck her partner.

Unconsciously, her hand slipped once more into her card holster, grasping for the one she could do the most damage with and quickly. For a moment it felt like everything was going in slow motion for the young girl. Her hand had just pulled out her card of choice, while the thug once more raised the chain to strike again, and somehow Venir had managed to get her feet moving towards her enemy. The light pink heels created little taps upon the ground with each step she took, a few steps in she had managed to place her card upon her staff. "Include!" She shouted the staff shining with a bright white light as it absorbed the card. The chain was poised like a viper ready to strike now and with a final burst of effort Venir pushed herself farther forward.

The sword felt incredibly awkward in her hands for more than one reason. She hadn't installed her other card, the one that made her an adept swordsman so currently the young girl was going off of what limited knowledge she had of weaponry. The other reason why it felt s awkward was because the memories that were brought up with it. She hadn't used the blade since their last mission, and she could recall perfectly what she happened to do with the gleaming sword. "Ahhhhh!" She called out raising the sword, the blade so clean she could see her reflection in it, just in time for the chain to strike her weapon. The two metals hitting each other created a sharp, crisp ring as the heavy chain met with her long-sword. The impact made Venir brace her feet into the ground and wince slightly. At least the thug seemed somewhat surprised at how quickly she came to defend Lekuna. "Do something!" Venir cried out unsure if she possessed the skill to really even charge at the thug with her sword, blocking and keeping the chain where it was a much more simple task.

Just as Lekuna's brain raced through all the different scenarios she could possibly choose to get her out of this mess, Venir came running towards her and her assailant, charging with her sword instead of running nimbly. She wondered why it looked as though her partner couldn't use the weapon at all when she had already witnessed Venir use it masterfully once before. She didn't really care at the moment though, as Venir's reckless charge provided with with the perfect opportunity to strike. The time mage raised up her wooden leg club and planned on swiftly bringing the part down across the law breaker's rough visage, until it was stopped by a sharp pain. He had seen her coming and attacked in response, wrapping his edged chain around her right arm so that the razor links dug into her flesh, causing her to grunt loudly in pain, holding back a scream. This was her chance and she knew it, so she tried to hold back the burning sensation making its way up her arm just long enough to grab hold of the chain and pull it back towards her, causing the man to stumble and ultimately allowing her to clobber him over his thick skull.

After the blow, the man went down and Lekuna was left with a limp right arm, all cut up and bleeding from the chain which now lay on the floor. "That was unpleasant..." she began before casting a spell, the first spell she'd cast this job. One that was universally useful for whatever situation she was in. Lekuna Reset herself back to where she was before getting into the scuffle with the chain man, appearing facing away from the restaurant right outside of its doors. Two men were calmly unconscious and she was looking at the glistening sea. "I don't think it's over yet Venir. I can feel more men coming towards us" she said, casually talking over her shoulder to her partner. Now was the perfect time to equip her weapon, so she did. In her hand appeared a weapon that her partner had not yet seen, Hephaestus' Inferno. Her hammer.

Despite the girls best efforts the chain did not remain wrapped firmly about her sword. The thug managed to pull it back with ease and had just enough time to strike her charging partner. Once more, Venir had to watch as Lekuna took a nasty looking hit. Still, the time mage much to Venir's surprise managed to push through the pain and hit the thug. She watched as the man crumpled to the ground groaning, the chain loosening as the man's grip softened. "Let me heal you!" She called out rushing over to the other mage. She slipped a delicate hand into her card holster and pulled it out. However, by the time she had placed the card upon her sword and reached Lekuna, the woman was no longer there. Venir glanced about clearly confused for a moment as to where the time mage could have possibly gone in what seemed like the blink of an eye. Finally, she spotted Lekuna just outside of the restaurant. The time mage seemed fine much to Venir's relief so she slipped her heal card back into the holster.

"More!?" She sighed at the thought of having to fight more of these guys. She then glanced around the shop noting the owner cowering behind the counter. He seemed rather fearful of the thugs but at the same time he seemed a bit upset. "Oh!" It finally dawned on her as she looked at the destruction they had caused within the restaurant. Hesitantly, Venir went outisde to tap Lekuna on her shoulder. "I think we should probably keep this outside....We shouldn't destroy anymore of the chairs and stuff in here." Truth be told it would be much easier if they had some space to work with as well. "If we're lucky maybe the leader of the thugs'll show up! Then we can teach him a lesson! No one messes with Eclipse Soul mages!" She nodded as if to herself. Briefly, she noted the hammer in Lekuna's hands, a weapon she had never seen Lekuna use before. "I wonder what it does?" She figured she'd find out soon enough as a few figures appeared down the street. The sea breeze ruffled the young girl's hair, pushing her bangs up and out of her eyes. "Let's hope these are the last one's!" She sighed her grip tightening upon her blade.

Lekuna looked towards Venir and gave her a nod, "Thanks for thinking to help me". As thankful as she was that she was on the young girl's mind, the matter at hand filled her mind more than anything else. They had to take out the three new bandits that had shown up to harass them. "The-there they are! They took out all th' guys!" he said, scared and point towards one of them that was laying unconscious on the pavement. The two he brought along with them seemed to have a much tougher aura than the goons that they had just taken down. That didn't matter. However strong they were, she knew that she and Venir were stronger, and if not, certainly more desperate. Shaming the guild was a fate worse than death, not that they would have any intention of doing so. It had a bad enough reputation among Fiorans as it stood, so tarnishing it even more was not the wisest idea. "I'll get the one on the left" she said to her partner as she began to walk towards the cloak clad fellow.

They didn't make fun of them or say really anything, they simply looked at each other. It was quite the disparity between their actions and the actions of the lesser thugs which gave Lekuna a bad feeling, but nonetheless, they needed to be stopped. The thug who had brought them fled, naturally, seeing how many of his companions were knocked out by the magical duo. "I don't think the leader will show up unfortunately, though I do think they are the last ones in the line of repossession" was her last thought which she spoke aloud to Venir before striding forward one huge step and bringing the hammer down with a great overhead swing, just to be blocked by a mass of... something. Sand? was her only thought when she saw the grains that were condensed. Seemingly appearing out of nowhere, she concluded that he must be some sort of sand mage. Uh oh. He was quick to counter attack by sending a blast of sand from his left hand which was snuck under her stomach, sending Lekuna back into the restaurant while the geyser of sand did its work.

Venir nodded her head as if to say "no problem" to Lekuna, she didn't dare speak aloud though. Not while the men were approaching them. As the weaker of the three men spoke, Venir couldn't help but smile a bit. Finally, someone who was actually scared of the Eclipse Soul mages. "What an odd thought." She couldn't help but note with a small grimace at just how pleased she was that someone was actually afraid of her and Lekuna. Repressing the urge to chase down the one that fled Venir turned her attention towards her enemy on the right. "Best of luck." She breathed out to Lekuna, a little disappointed that they couldn't cut off the thugs at the head of their operation. "Oh well scaring them should be enough for now." With that thought in mind Venir took a deep breath, raising her sword as she stared down her opponent.

"Ahhhhhhh!" She yelled her standard battle-cry charging forward almost blindly at the man. Just as she reached him, swinging her sword downwards, the blade only sliced air. "Huh?" She could've sworn her enemy was right there. A sudden harsh shove from behind sent Venir sprawling forward and her sword clattered out of her hands. "What-" The man gave her a malicious grin, apparently having moved behind her before she attacked. "How'd he do that?" She couldn't fathom as to what sort of trickery the man had done, having not yet realized that her opponent was a mage. Once more, Venir attempted the same attack only to meet the same result. It was only when she was sent flying a second and then a third time did she take notice of her partner. "That guy's a sand mage then that must mean." She narrowed her eyes at the man she was currently facing. "He must be using magic to move around really fast then..." Gritting her teeth Venir once more clambered up to her feet, her sword in hand. Now all she had to do was figure out how to hit someone who much faster than herself.....or perhaps the man was teleporting? "I suppose I better figure that out first....Wait....How do I do that?" Somewhat distraught as to what to do Venir charged forward once more.

Before Lekuna knew what hit her, the wooden wall of the building collided with her back and she fell down onto the ground. Venir seemed to be having trouble with her own mage who seemed to vanish into thin air. As she got up, she noticed that she there was sand all around her now, under her feet. Hopefully he can't control all sand in a given area she hoped with all of her heart, only to be let down by the fact that he quickly capitalized and grabbed her with a hand made of sand that was comically huge, but it worked. He brought her close and looked her in the eyes, "My partner somewhere over there enjoys fast paced fights, if you couldn't tell. But I like slower, longer fights. I like to keep my prey paralyzed while they're slowly taken by lots and lots of tiny grains of sand. Maybe if you beg you'll live just a little longer". He's so cold... the time mage thought of the apparent psychopath that she was facing.

Not surprising that a group of bandits would find guys like this, so she had to deal with the cards dealt to her. He plopped her down on the ground, her feet encased in sand that was beginning to build up her ankles, ruining whatever chance of moving she had. The man watched her and smiled. Observed and reveled in her inevitable demise, as is the way that people such as him tended to behave, but because he was so invested in her doom, it didn't seem like he was aware of what was happening around him. Paradox she thought before an alternate version of her was summoned not too far away and behind him. "Please what will it take for you to stop? What do you want!?" she cried out, only fueling his 'attack'. "Your screams. I just want to see you suffer" he said, the sand speeding up a little more. Then, a small grin appeared on her face, causing his visage to go serious for a moment. He turned around and his head met with Hephaestus' Inferno, one that her alternate version was using. Upon being struck, he went down like a rock, any sand of his that was floating went down too, actually following the laws of gravity. "Neat" she said aloud before walking to her other and giving a stern high five.

Scare Away Those Thugs; Job Empty Re: Scare Away Those Thugs; Job

    Close your eyes
    give me your hand

Time and time again Venir stuck with her charging method only to meet the same result. "Ow!" She groaned out once more rolling across the stone pavement of the street. "Well, at least I figured out he's not teleporting..." The thought wasn't as comforting as she would have liked. She only figured out he was moving fast because if she focused hard enough she could feel a slight rustle in the air each time he moved by her. "I can't keep doing this..." She rubbed away at the few small scratched here and there. She was lucky, it seemed like the speedster was just toying with her right now, simply pushing her around. Venir didn't even want to imagine what it felt like if he actually went to attack. Despite just getting pushed around, it still hurt to be sent sprawling at high speeds. The bruises and scratches littered across her body attested to that.

Sending a tearful glance over to her opponent who seemed to be growing bored with this game, Venir had a sudden idea. "If I can't attack him...Then I'll defend." Slipping her hand into her card holster once more Venir found the perfect card. "Include!" She mumbled placing the said card upon her sword but there was no apparent change in the girl or sword even as the card was absorbed. "Here goes nothing!" Once more she raised her sword high above her head running at the man as fast as her legs could carry her. The moment the man seemingly disappeared from her sight, Venir knew what to do. Turning on her heel, Venir held her hand out bracing herself for the attack that she knew was to come. It seemed as if she was wide open and the man bought the bait, rushing towards Venir this time ready to throw a punch but his fist soon met with a barrier and the rest of hid body, moving to fast to slow down, hit the barrier as well. A rippling motion in the air in front of Venir soon gave way to a glimmering white shield that the man had run right into. He seemed dazed, as many would be if they ran full speed into a solid object. His hand seemed worse than his body though, bad enough for Venir flicker her red gaze elsewhere for a moment.

"Wait I have to finish him...." However the young girl paused looking at the still dazed enemy. Her sword was in hand, ready to deal the final blow when necessary but she could only stand and stare. She had never really attacked a human like this before, except for once. The shadow creatures and imps were different than this sort of thing. Closing her eyes the platinum haired child shakily raised the shining sword, that looked almost more deadly than usual in her gloved palms. After a moments hesitation Venir brought the blade down...

Her eyes widened and her feet moved, her alternate self disappearing as quickly as she came now that the job was done. Venir had learned from her repeated mistakes and had made the speedster of a mage crash into a large solid object to defeat him. The smaller mage's enemy may have been quick on his feet, but not as much when it came to thinking. That wasn't the problem though, well, not the one that the taller magi was worried about anyways. What she worried about what the kind of hesitation and position that Venir took towards the man after he was dazed and nearly knocked out. There were people watching, children cheering for them at this point, but it all grew silent when they saw what Venir, who appeared to be a child no older than those praising their actions raising her sword to an immobile enemy.

Lekuna was too far and she knew it. Too far to stop Venir from killing that man. She *knew* he was going to be killed simply by looking at the angle that the blade was being brought down. Faster faster faster! she thought, but her feet only moved so fast. Speed! she thought, and in that same second, she blocked Venir's strike with her hammer. After her parry, she extended her arm to sling the blade off to the side before bringing her own weapon down on the head of the criminal mage. He fell like a rock as well. "Venir. Don't ever scare me like that again. You can't kill another person like that, what were you thinking?" she asked honestly, looking at her younger partner who was almost quick to take another life. What kind of past did Venir have to think that taking someone else's life was okay and simple? She can't remember but something from there must have stuck if she was about to do what I think she was about to do. If I hadn't stopped her... that would have haunted her for the rest of her life... or worse The time mage's mind raced with all these thoughts at the mere sight of her partner about to kill. Just because they were criminals didn't mean they deserved death. Far from it.

The sharp ring of metal striking metal rang in Venir's ears. The parry that she received was unexpected allowing the blade to slip free of Venir's hands and the girl to be sent backwards. She hit the ground with a small grunt, for a moment the young mage was confused. She looked about almost in a daze, crimson irises catching the relieved and horrified expressions of the small crowd that had gathered, and more importantly she spotted the unconscious criminal as well as a certain time mage. The confusion was evident on her face for half a second before it vanished. "What was I thinking?" She echoed back suddenly unsure of herself, almost feeling wounded. She wasn't expecting to be scolded nor did she want to upset or even scare the time mage.

Before she could help it Venir found herself crying because unfortunately she didn't have an explanation or an excuse to give Lekuna. All she could repeat over and over was, "I don't know." or "I'm sorry." but any legitimate reason failed to fall upon her lips. She simply lacked the words to describe what had happened, instinct or some darker nature had taken over her. Instead of voicing this she let the tears and apologies spill forth from her lips and reached her arms out to the time mage. "Don't be mad Lekuna, I'm sorry I didn't know!" Now she was clinging onto the time mage all fear forgotten as the fear of scaring Lekuna away had taken its place. "Please!" She begged looking up through blurred vision at the woman. She held onto the other woman for what might have seemed like forever before loosening her grip. Sending a forlorn glance to the unconscious thug Venir released her magic, returning once more to her regular clothing, all weapons and evidence disappearing with it.

She sniffled once and then twice, her button nose scrunching up with the motion, before she once more took notice of the people around them. A scarlet blush dusted her pale cheeks and in embarrassment, the mage once more clung onto Lekuna, hiding her face in the mage's cloak. "C-Can we get food now?" She inquired, her voice muffled against the fabric. "And forget this ever happened?" She added as an after thought, not wanting to discuss her incident any further.

Venir immediately got knocked on her bottom when the time mage came in to stop her blade and move it to one side. The people around them cheered after the stern silence, though the time mage could still hear the small girl that was nearly a murderer. Lekuna had a furrowed brow and a stone face as she looked down at whom she considered a little sister a this point, shocked at the thought of what would've happened if she hadn't stopped the blade. How would if have affected her later in her life, would others spread rumors of a murderous little girl? Did she not know how heavy killing really was? Those questions and more arose, only to be lost at the ends of Lekuna's mind as soon as they arose. "We can forget it Venir, and we can also get something to eat, but you really need to be careful about how you attack people. They're different from monsters like goblins or vulcans" she said, her tone firm but caring. At least in her mind anyways.

The card casting mage didn't really have anything to say in her defense. She only looked confused and remorseful upon being scolded for something that Lekuna believed to be an atrocity. There are few situations where end the life of another was both fair and just; so it wasn't a surprise that this was not one of them. Then, and only then, when those two prerequisites were met would she ever kill or allow someone to do the same. That was something she truly believed in and wouldn't compromise it ever, even in the face of oblivion. "Don't worry though Venir. I'm not mad at you" she finally said after a few moments of listening to her partner bawl and trying not to fall over from the tugging on her clothes.

"Now, let's go inside. I'm sure the restaurant owner will want to know that all of these rogues were taken care of and that he shouldn't have any more problems. He also shouldn't have any problems serving us our food after a hard day's work, haha" She patted Venir on the back and then began to lead towards the entrance of the restaurant, ready for a good meal.

"Different from goblins and monsters? As in they don't look alike?" She mumbled quietly so that those around could not hear her ignorance. On some fundamental level Venir understood the difference but it didn't stop the question from slipping through her teeth. Before she could fathom as to what made her ask such a silly question when deep down she knew the answer, Venir pushed that thought away. It was in her nature to push the negatives away, so focused on the positives that she simply had no room to focus on real problems involving others and herself. Or rather if there was a problem with someone else she'd desperately try to fix it but if she was somehow involved in that problem then it was simply better to ignore it. Much like how she ignored the many internal questions she had about her own actions at times, as well as her own curious existence, and lack of memory. Not to mention the fact that Venir was awfully quick to push the killing subject aside, wanting to neither discuss or acknowledge it further.

Once, she was assured that the time mage was not mad at her Venir seemed almost satisfied. She was still worried, perhaps anxious, and much like a kicked puppy she felt the need to redeem herself but didn't know how. At the mention of food her stomach grumbled loudly once more suddenly reminding her that she was indeed very hungry. A sudden pat on her back made her gaze nervously flicker up to Lekuna. That simple touch was almost confirmation that the time mage wasn't mad at her, and it almost had Venir back to her cheery self as if nothing ever happened. Yet still, she felt as if she had to tread lightly around Lekuna not wanting to get scolded by her twice in the same day, especially with how their missions seemed to be turning out recently. "I don't want Lekuna to not want to go on any more jobs with me. What if she leaves?" The worry struck her fast and hard enough to falter in her steps for a moment. However, that worry was quickly pushed aside as well, "Lekuna wouldn't leave."

The inside of the restaurant was already getting picked up by the owner by the time the two entered. The inside was pleasantly quiet compared to how outside had been with all the people. The silence only helped soften the chaos in the little girls head, helping her push all the recent events away. "All taken care of!" She beamed to the owner, who apparently didn't see the rest of the battle that had taken place. Once more, her stomach audibly grumbled inciting a laugh from the owner at the sound.

"How? Well that's an interesting question. To me, the difference is people are capable of changing and feeling many more things than a monster, whose prime goal is to protect their territory and kill anyone they think threatens that or them" she said, trying to explain the difference as easy to understand as possible. "That being said. It's not fair to kill someone for robbing someone else. It's also not fair to kill someone who was forced to kill someone else because of their circumstances. When it comes to taking a life, you should ask yourself two questions." Lekuna continued, about to share her own personal beliefs with Venir, wondering if she'd take them to heart or eventually disregard them as she grew and developed new ideas.

"Is it right? Will they change or will they keep doing it? And is it just? Did they kill because they had to or because they wanted to. If the answer to both those questions are yes, then you shouldn't hesitate to kill sed person, nor should you regret that you did it" The inside of the restaurant was a mess, though the owner didn't seem to mind as the two mages only did it to protect him, after all. "Sorry about the mess, but you shouldn't worry about those thieves hassling you any longer. Now, there's the matter of payment?" she said with a smile, tapping her stomach twice with an open palm. That, coupled with the growling of her belly incited a hearty laugh inside the once scared man.

"Of course! Of course! Come in, sit down where there are actually chairs left" he said to them, gesturing for them to sit make themselves comfortable. He seemed ecstatic that he'd never have to pay for "protection" again, so much so that he apparently did not care that they made a huge mess of the property and would have cost him a good amount of money in repairs. I suppose that cost doesn't quite come near the amount he would have spend paying those criminals. Now... what's the time. Ah, we finished this faster than I thought we would she thought as she took out her radiant gold pocket watch, opened it with the press of a button and gazed at the hands. With a short *click*, she put it back in one of her coat pockets and sat at a table, waiting for her partner to sit as well.
