Okay now this kind of job was degrading for Katherine, she was supposed to help capture a giant creature that would for all aspects be a pain in the arse to bring back. Katherine sighed as she went to the farm and asked the series of questions that she needed to know, “What does this chicken look like? Where could it have gone?” The usual questions that one asked for when searching for a missing animal. It was best to know that you got the right animal and not some other poor farmers. What Katherine did not expect was the answer that was given.
“Well Henrietta is a white Fioran breed with soft feathers that you would find in soft pillows. She also is a fair amount bigger than most other chickens if I were to be honest. Took a lot of work to grow her and raise it right.”
“Oh? How big is it? 2 feet tall? 3 feet tall?”
“Oh Katherine, here in the Sunny Springs farm we don’t like to think small. Henrietta was given a new all magical growth hormones to make her bigger.”
“3 feet?”
“Nope Henrietta is a chicken that has grown up to be a 5 foot tall and 100 pounds. When we BBQ that chicken up, it can feed a small town for a week.”
Katherine was glad at this moment that she was not drinking anything or she would have spat it all out at the farmers face. It was how big?! Katherine’s angelic jaw nearly dropped to the floor as she heard this. This was the kind of thing Kyll would get if she wanted to feed an entire guild. And Eclipse Soul for sure would Gobble that entire thing up! Katherine chuckled ever so slightly, but it was one of nervousness. She wondered how she was going to get the darn thing. Katherine stammered, “I-I see… Well Mr McGregor, I can certainly try to get Henrietta.” McGregor simply said, “Well do not hurt her! She will be worth a fair amount of jewels when we sell her. Maybe be enough for me and my wife to retire for good.”
Katherine sighed, could this job get any harder? Well at least a giant chicken would not be hard to find right? All she had to do was follow the giant chicken tracks all around the town and probably the sounds of surprise among the populace. Katherine walked to the marketplace and looked for signs of Henrietta. There was nothing at the first block, simply people that were shopping and going on with their daily lives. Katherine was going to give up in this area when she found an egg…. The size of her own head. This meant that Katherine was close and could use it to track her. A chicken never went far from her egg so she had a look at the perimeter. She ended up finding the darn chicken in an alleyway with a nest made out of a cardboard exterior and a soft newspaper interior. It was nesting, but the angel had an idea.
Katherine walked out and went to the closest grocery store to buy a sack of potatoes. She then had the contents emptied and kept the burlap sack. Now how would this bag hold a chicken? It won’t, but a aviary creature becomes docile when their eyes are covered and thus was easy to bring back. Katherine guided the future food to the farm once again, but not before she got the stares of many people along the way. This could be one of Katherines more embarrassing job that she ever had. Eventually Katherine guided the chicken back into its coop and walked straight to the farmers to receive her payment. This little adventure would be over if not for one aspect more.
Katherine would wake up the next day and used the giant egg that she picked up to make Omelettes for the whole guild. They would be tasty morsels for everyone as she stuffed green peppers, sausage, Swiss cheese and onions and served it to everyone. There was so much darn egg that there was enough for everyone to get seconds and thirds, but instead Katherine used what was leftover to bake a cake for everyone. After all the cooking was done, Katherine sat down and had a nice rest from all the weary work. She made herself some tea, sat down on one of the guildhall tables and read yet another one of her romance novels as she waited for the day to slowly wind down.
