Discussion Events with minimal mod assistance

Post by Jubei Dracule 9th February 2015, 10:09 am

So, im going off an idea i had, as i read this message from Zack below in spoiler. It was something he said in Hiro's thread about interguild events. Its just a general idea, however i think it is a way events can be held in order to award exp and such, and not add much of a work load on top of the mod's already increasing work.

    Undead Queen:

I thought of the idea while reading Zack and chao's world gourmet thread. However there could be an NPC guild, our own IGO of sorts. These gourmet kings will create "event jobs" once a month. These jobs range in rank, which might seem like alot at first, however not really specifically when every member of the site can be allowed to help come up with the next month's event. All that is need are:a weak, normal, strong monster and a boss. Per each rank event job. So let me give a basic example real quick.

Lets Say we have a B ranked event job. This is available to for B rank users only, or two C rank users. A user can never accept one below his rank.

Now the event is 7 days long, and each user has their own thread, or partners with 1 individual and share a thread, although they share the rewards as well. Every day, the user will roll the monster dice once. What ever monster the dice gives, he has the entire day to destroy for their "item". This item is what we return at the end of the week to IGO. At the start of the next day, the user rolls the dice again. If a user and/or his partner cannot defeat the monster of that day, their event is over prematurely and they must wait till end of week. Although we could easily add a way to turn these "items" in for event points and yadda yadda kinda like the dungeon system. It would be much easier to just give each creature a specific amount of exp. To make it very simple, id just have each rank creature give a certain amount of exp.

So another full simple run down would be this:

James the b rank mage accepts a B rank event job. Average B rank job gives -250 exp.
    weak(B ranked mage) -30
    normal(B.5 ranked-75
    strong-(A Ranked)125
    boss-(A.5 rank)175

So even if some one only rolls weak monsters all week, they would still be awarded 210 exp. Which isnt bad, when a weak creature wouldn't take but 1 good post to take down. So once a month users have the possibility of getting a nice boost in exp.
The max this user could get, if for some ungodly reason he rolls 7 bosses, is 1225. However can be made that no one is allowed more than 1 boss per week or something. Plus getting a boss that much wouldnt really be a blessing, as your hp and mp, as well as spells dont naturally reset on the next post. Even though your waiting 24 hours for the next roll, its as if no time has passed. So receiving multiple boss fights could be bad luck, ending the event for you sooner. Meh, i had a lot more going. However i realize how disorganized this is, and instead of rambling more and more, im gonna just let you all see what you think. Perhaps if you understood my mumbo jumbo, we can build off it for a good event, with good rewards, that doesn't require too much assistance from mods or admin.

I feel like this way, it can be just like a job. Each ranked event job, will have a required amount of words for each creature. And the person has to complete that battle, that day and in one post. At the end of the post, they put the amount of words used, and spells. A mod should be able to just skim over their RP, and understand the gist, or certain members of the community can be hired specifically just to grade event threads, to make sure that it was done properly. Not necessarily post quality, although there will be an obvious standard you should meet. its just to ensure everyone met all words, didn't cheat spells, and didn't roll a boss and go "I slash you die". Perhaps only the strong and boss fights are the only ones need to be looked at to ensure they were fought properly here and there. However i think although this is an event idea, that will rely heavily upon the community, and its honesty as well, it could definitely work out.

Hate to burst your bubble but as Seijin said Events that are player hosted wont give rewards unless the host provides them

Well the idea is that its hosted by the site, and is a continual event for the players. Its just something that the players can put their input and ideas into to keep it going. In other words its a monthly reoccurring event, that the admin and mods don't really need to spend much energy or time into. Keeps you all happy, and keeps the players happy. I suppose we could all just sit in cb as usual and complain about no events instead, until a mod comes by and gives us a reason why everything is too this or too that right now to justify an event. Plus its an event awarding exp, for doing what you would do in a job anyway. Just more fun, exciting, and challenging. Its not like we should hand out item of the months and artifacts left and right. I guess this thread is redundant however unless Sei gives his say into anything.

definitely. Staff has a huge amount of things to deal with already, coming up with the sites story is not one of them. Guildmasters and super mages obviously have the advantage as their stronger and naturally have more influence but it should definitely be left mostly to the site.

All staff should have to do is divvy out rewards for things and figure out if what your doing constitutes an event. Which can be done in a simple manner.
