Slayer Lost In The Woods..How Tragic(Hiro)

Hiro sniffed the air: smoke. That wasn’t a good scent to smell in the forest. He didn’t hear any crackle of the flames, he didn’t feel any heat coming from a particular direction, and he didn’t see any glow that would indicate a possible fire. However that didn’t mean one may be smoldering somewhere. Hiro ultimately, wouldn’t give a shit about the forest burning down if he wasn’t bound to it and had no means of hiding if all the trees and shrubbery were burnt to the ground. Thus he became protective against those who would set the forest ablaze, even keeping his own flames in check. Well, he usually kept his flames in check. Hiro has a bad temper. It gets the better of him. Then he ends up destroying a few trees.

The forest seemed to respond to Hiro’s ‘protection’ in kind, despite his occasional outbursts. It supplied him with food and there were plenty of trees that were thick enough, and hollow enough, that he could avoid the guildhall he so much disdained if it rained. It doesn’t really make any sense to think the forest would have a soul, but it does, even if it doesn’t have a heart to go with it.

Hiro had been trying to sleep peacefully in his hammock after a meal of berries and rabbit but the smoke smell kept him from drifting away. Hiro sniffed the air, trying to pin point the smell. It was a really faint smell and even with the heightened senses of a devil, Hiro couldn’t perfectly pin point it but he could get a general direction at least. Hopefully he’d get close enough to it before the wind changed direction. Hiro got up and hopped from tree branch to tree branch, keeping his balance through the use of his tail. He wasn’t really happy. He wanted to sleep but that was simply impossible under the prospect that the forest might burn down around him. Fortunately Hiro didn’t have to look too far as he landed on a tree branch above the source of the smoke. It was just a woman holding a cigarette. Hiro recognized the woman, if only barely. She was one of the members of the guild he so greatly loathed to be a part of. Someone he didn’t bother to meet because he simply didn’t want to meet her. “Tsk. Annoying,” Hiro muttered from his perch, assuming she knew better than the leave the cigarette bud on the ground around her home. She probably wasn’t as fire resistant as Hiro was so it would be even worse for her if the forest went ablaze. “Waste of time,” Hiro muttered once more as he turned around to get back to the hammock he was sleeping in.

A bullet flew by Hiro’s face, it even grazed his cheek, leaving a small cut in its wake. As a little bit of blood trickled down from the scratch Hiro flinched from the bullet. It was just enough of a flinch to make him lose his footing and he fell off the branch he was standing on towards the ground. Hiro went through two collections of branches and leaves before hitting the ground face first. If he were a pure blooded human, the impact would have probably broken his neck and he’d be dead. This girl would go about her business like it was nothing and everyone except Hiro would be happy.

However Hiro was half devil, although only two people in the guild actually knew that much about him and the others just thought he was some sort of fire demon, and thus he wasn’t going to die from a little fall like that. Devils weren’t as fragile as humans and with the abuse Hiro’s gone through since joining, it was a very good thing he wasn’t. This was unfortunate for the woman, because Hiro was loud when he was angry. He was also quite annoying. Oh, he also spewed fire out of his orifices so that was also a problem. Almost on cue, Hiro burst back up, pale blue flames burst from every inch of his body as his tail lashed out in rage. “WHAT THE FUCK YOU GOD DAMN BITCH!” Hiro yelled at the top of his lungs. He was just assaulted, and although it was his fault he landed on his face, Hiro, like most people, decided to blame someone else for that whole thing.

Hiro stopped shouting for a second. She’s a dumbass, she’s a fucking dumbass. For the first time ever, Hiro’s rampage had been stopped. It had been stopped by the blatant, almost ridiculous, absent mindedness he had ever seen and Hiro’s horrified amazement showed on his face with jaw dropped and eyes crossed in a still rather angry expression and fashion and looked absolutely ridiculous when put together. Who forgets how to get to where they live? Hiro may not live there and avoids it whenever possible but he still knew where it was. She took her dumps there how did she not remember how to get there when she was in the surrounding area? Was she drunk or just stupid?

“HOW THE FUCK DO YOU FORGET WHERE YOU LIVE,” Hiro shouted back at her, more flames spewing out. It would seem the rampage was only stopped momentarily. Once Hiro had a moment to process the potential extreme of her absentmindedness he went on another berserk fury. Hiro didn’t care what happened to the guild, in fact, he would prefer it destroyed, and many times dreamed of it, but there was a point of stupid that was just irritating and he was simply using as a means of venting, albeit he wasn’t consciously aware that’s what he was doing. Overall, implying to someone she had never met that there was a guild here that was supposed to be hidden was dangerous in of itself if she couldn’t kill them thereafter. Overall though Hiro was still just mad about falling on his face.
