Coming to a stop before the first corpse Dederik would begin writing in a small notebook to keep record of the information that the people would be discovering. The depth of the hole to see just how far beneath the ground that this demonic plant creature resided along with its width to see if it was the result of it bursting out, or growing. Carefully they would go from hole to hole to document its exact position in the field along with the type of monstrous mutant plant spawn that came out of it in addition to the holes themselves.
The deceased corpses of the mutated plant creations were similarly measured in length, width, along with other information that he could get from studying them. With that information collected he would have the helpful workers carry off those corpses to the wagon in preparation for transport while everyone carried out their jobs. As the sun would begin to set in the west the corpses had already been hauled off to the wagon with the information gathering being done for the day. Soil samples were collected as well as samples of various plants so that more specialized mages could study them to find the true culprit.
As the last of the tools was finally placed back into the wagon the last of the workers would begin to take hop in, avoiding the demonic plant corpses that were resting in one area of it. Mean while Dederik would finish collecting leaf samples from a variety of the plants before returning to the wagon himself. Climbing up into the back he would take his seat while pulling out his note book, idly flipping through every thing that the group had accomplished for the day and to see what else they would have to do in the morning.
Upon their arrival back into town and his retirement to his rented room after ensuring that everything was stored away properly the knight sat down at a table and began to write out an initial report in more detail to outline what was seen and done in the first day. While doing so he would communicate back to the Rune Knights HQ in order to make arrangements for a detection based knight to arrive at the scene to help resolve the issue of how the infestation started now that the field was cleared out.
