The Huntsman and the Beast Queen [Social|Kodai and Mystine]

Kodai was walking around the streets of Crocus, the capital of Fiore. It was around midnight, which is why he was patrolling. Skia was quietly padding behind him, her black fur blending in with the shadows cast by the street lamps. Her blue eyes flickered around, taking in everything. In respect to Skia's natural stealthiness, Kodai stuck out like a sore thumb. His metallic golden hair shone in the light. But he moved with the easy grace of a trained fighter, and his vivid green eyes mimicked the motion of Skia's. Anyone observing this duo would know: the two were natural-born hunters. And it was these hunter's eyes that noticed something out of place. A girl with red hair that had streaks of blonde and orange in it was walking the street ahead of Kodai. But that wasn't the strange thing. The strange thing was the figure in all black stalking the girl. Kodai noticed a gleam of silver in the stalker's hand. The figure was armed with a dagger. Silently, Kodai drew two long hunting knives from his belt and sank into a walking crouch, ready to pounce.

Mystine hummed as she walked along. It was night time, but she couldn't sleep for one reason or another. Leading to the conclusion of why she was walking alone in the dark. But what did help was the power of the owls eyes that had been bless upon her while she was out in the woods. But at this moment she really didn't need them she knew exactly where everything was tanks to her hearing of a deer, which had also been blessed upon her. Kicking one foot out in front of the other the red head hummed a happy tune and tilted her head back and forth to the melody. The cool air felt pleasant around her, the only two things that she would change would be the two men that were following her. She could hear the one directly behind her shuffling his feet trying to stay quiet. It was most likely an adult. She groaned.  Why were adults so rule and cruel. She stopped humming and opened her eyes as she felt the older men get closer, she could feel the cold aura wafting off his body and she relaxed, calming herself down. That was when she felt him suddenly make a move. She took a step sideways letting his large body pass by her allowing for her to lift her foot and slam it into his back, "You have to be quieter you stupid." She felt no sympathy for the guy that had tried to attack her and continued to step on him. But she quickly stopped as she heard a squeak coming from the ground near a tree. She pulled away from the man and walked over to the tree and picked up a small mouse that had been squeaking at her. "Hello there~"

Kodai watched, not without some surprise, as the girl handled her attacker with ease. He then sheathed his knives, pointed his right index finger at the prone criminal, then snapped his fingers. The Ring of Restraint on his left middle finger activated, sending a line of black magic from his pointer finger to strike the man. When it hit him, black metal chains grew swiftly around him, binding him neatly. Kodai walked up to the restrained criminal and picked him up easily. He placed him on Skia's back and used the Ring of Restraint once more on the man to bind him to Skia.
"Take him to the Rune Knight headquarters, girl. They'll know what to do with him. Then come back, ok?" he said to the wolf. She dipped her head in acknowledgement, then sank into her shadow, moving swiftly to the headquarters. Kodai then turned to the girl, who he saw was holding a mouse. He walked up to her then bowed.
"I apologize for not apprehending that criminal sooner. I am Kodai Venator, of the Rune Knights."

Mystine could feel something going in the direction where she had beaten the man who had tried to mug her. She turned around only to see a giant wold standing there with the man who she had evaded on it's back and chained up. Mystine stood there amazed, she had never seen an animal as great and as beautiful at the one that stood before her. She watched it closely and suddenly it melded into the shadows below. She blinked once then twice, where had that beautiful animal gone! She saw a man that must've been standing behind the wolf and raised an eyebrow at him. He was old enough to an adult. Could she trust him? That was when he walked over to her and introduced himself to her and apologized from not stopping the man who had tried to rob her sooner. Mystine looked at the man named Kodai with wide eyes. An adult actually cared about her well being. With all the adults she knew in the past not liking her and her lack of trust for them she never knew people could be kind to her and care for her. "I-it's okay mister Kodai, I am fine as you can see." She smiled osurly at him and looked at the mouse on her shoulder who had just squeaked at her. It had said to trust the man. She looked back at Kodai with a raised eyebrow, "Fine."

"Please, just Kodai will do, miss." Kodai said in response to her assurance, bowing yet again. Only a few moments later, Skia returned emerging from her shadow directly next to Kodai. He extended his arm and patted her side. "May I introduce my companion, partner and best friend, Skia."

Mystine looked up at the large wolf with wide eyes, it was beautiful. How had this man come upon such an amazing creature? She looked at the animal with awe. "Skia? It is a beautiful name." She took a step towards the large wolf reaching a hand out. With a sudden realization hitting her she pulled her hand away from the wolf and looked at Kodai. "Mist- I mean Kodai, may I pet your wolf?" Mystine looked from Kodai to the wolf and then back to Kodai. S sudden squeak from her shouler had her look at the mouse that she had placed there. "Oh hush you," she whispered, "I'm sure Skia is plenty friendly." Another squeak followed up Mystine's words causing for the red head to roll her eyes. "She won't eat you, you silly mouse. Wolves don't eat mice."

"'Skia' means 'shadow' in the ancient tongue. It is quite fitting. And of course you may pet her. I daresay she will enjoy it." Kodai said with a chuckle. He stepped back slightly from Skia, allowing the girl to get at her. After he had stepped aside, he examined her closely. She appeared to be in her teens, and had forest green eyes with dark brown specks. Kodai brushed his long golden hair out of his face as he watched her interact with Skia, a slight smile forming on his face. Despite being a huntsman, he was a great animal lover. He only hunted when he had to.
