Why Should Your Character Should Be....: Janine is a steady joyful merciless being who seeks Higher power than she has. Her ultimate goal is to slay the Goddess Ilyria and usurp her throne. Divinity is her entire life.
RP Sample: Ever since she found that damnable mask, Janine had not gotten a decent night sleep. The Lady of the Lolligo house in Minstrel had been brought to an archeological site. Her friend, a researcher in the Mystical Arts, though a shrine she had uncovered could help her settle her mind. With images of cephlopod flying through the stars upon bat wings filling her dreams, the noble daughter would try anything. Her butler swept the ground a bit before the cave entrance, but she just gave him a smile as she walked ahead of him into the grime filled cave. She was no mage yet, but even she could feel the magic in the area. At the end of a mile long walk through caves, speckled with different ores in the granite, sat an alter with the statue of a Goddess holding a wicked edged shield. Hooked, spiked, and barbed, the normally defensive implement appeared positively corrupt.
Despite the desperate please from her friend, the Divine Daughter simply strolled forward and placed her hands on the shield. What happened next was, quite literally, otherworldly. She seemed to have been transported through time and space, stuck in place and rapidly moving to the far edge of the universe. When she could move again, she saw her locale had changed. She still held the shield, but she was now an ant before a colossal being. A woman whose presence took up her entire perception and even then she could not grasp everything about her, sat upon a iron throne.
"Young Earthlander. I see within your heart a connection to the disgusting creature that pollutes our space."
Janine moved the shield to her side, unsure if she should drop it or not. "You mean that squid?" She wasn't quite certain, but it seemed that the received a nod. "It does seem to have a habit of polluting."
"You receive its power and yet you are disgusted by its presence. Perhaps you may be the one to take its place."
Take its place? She had dreamed about becoming Queen with her own harem of boys and girls at her beck and call. An army of Butlers and all the magical rings she could ever desire. But to take the place of a God. Looking at the shield, she thought about the prospect of divinity. Of immortality. Of being a God. Without even a second thought, she tossed the shield on the ground. The moment the shield connected with the metallic surface, it rang out and disappeared. When the ringing stopped in the hall, Janine would feel a weight on her back. The shield had reshaped itself, into an elegant heater with filigree and precious metals. And almost with a mere thought, it reshaped itself as her cloak and devoured the fabric.
"It will take you time to Master, but I shall give you my gift. With it, by the time you may summon the Fell God, you will learn my name and be able to slay her. One day. You will stand by my side."
Before Janine could say another word, the scene warped around her turned to dust and the Alter was back. Was it all a dream, an illusion? Before she could ask, she saw her friend's face looking disgusted and awestruck at the same time. "You....you...ATE THE SHIELD!?" Her face horrified and looking around for answers. "I am so fired. So fired. How could I let you eat an ancient shield? Oh they are going to exile me. That could have been crown treasure."
Janine walked over to her friend, placed her hands on both shoulders and smiled. "Do not worry about them. Divinity smiles upon you." Oddly it seemed to cheer her up. Holding hands, they strolled out of the cave like childhood friends. Fears assuaged in both of them.
