Mega, you got QB 2, but not 3. It's the most difficult one. While you did well, it's not quite level 3 style writing. Keep trying though! x3

- The Dragons Cult - Part 1:
- Entire Thread
The middle of the year had just begun, and summer was already in full swing. The grass and trees had turned a brilliant shade of green and temperatures had skyrocketed- much to the dismay of one Selah Bell. The mage despised blazing hot temperatures because they would often make her lose focus easily, and just made everything harder then it should be. It's times like this that Selah found to move the slowest, each minute dragging on and fading into the next as the summer heat beat down on Fiore. But Selah was about to go to somewhere much, much hotter.
After spending the past week or so recovering from her last Job, Selah was lounging in her home in the Sabertooth guild hall. Staring at her wine cabinet, the mage groaned as the intense heat from outside leaked inside making her room torture. She couldn't ask an ice mage to come in and cool off the room- No they were all out on a job. She couldn't go out on a job with anyone else because there were no available jobs someplace cool! No, Selah was trapped in the guild hall suffering because of the heat. That was until someone knocked on her door.
Hopping off her bed, Selah walked to the door and opened it to find no-one there, only a medium sized package laying on the ground. Picking it up, the purple haired mage found the package to be incredibly heavy for something that size. After placing down the package on her bed, Selah took a small knife off of her desk and opened the package up with minimal effort. Inside the package was a large chunk of black stone, with golden markings along its edges. Upon closer inspection, Selah found that it was part of a mask that looked like it had been destroyed long ago.
Attached to the mask was a letter written on paper as thick as animal hide, and much tougher. The handwriting looked like it had been corrected many times, some of the erased writing still visible- though in a language that Selah could not read. After reading what the letter had to say, Selah let out an irritated groan- It was already scorching hot out, and now she had to leave and go out into the desert? This day was going to be a long day.
Selah took a train to the village, glad that the whole thing was cooled off so she atleast got a moment of relief from the blast furnace that was the outside world. But the ride did not last long sadly, Selah begrudgingly stepping out of the train and into the 130 degrees Fahrenheit blaze of the Desert Village. Stepping onto the rolling sands below, Selah sighed as she headed for the inn.
Dragging her feet through the harsh desert sands, Selah dragged herself through the bustle of the large village. Shops and homes everywhere, sounds of cats fighting and the chatter of people around her- to them this heat was normal. Selah groaned, glad she had opted to take her cloak with her, the black garment keeping at least some of the blistering heat off of her body. The mages hair wouldn't exactly help the situation, reaching down to her mid back when not tied up in a pony tail like she had it now. Every measure that Selah could take to cool off was quickly used- Hair tied up, cool clothing, sticking to as much shade as possible. The heat was never where Selah wanted to be. Despite her hate of the heat, Selah had to admit that this village was impressive, the buildings were all expertly crafted and the layout made it seem much bigger then it was.
Passing through the gated walls that surround the center of the village, Selah steeled herself against the heat until finally arrived at the inn. Stepping inside, Selah looked around as natural light flooded in the main hall of the large in from the windows. Blue and gold tapestry hung from the walls, the tables and seating all made of palm wood from the nearby oasis, a fire place made of mud brick on the wall for the frigid desert nights. This place looked like it had been here longer than anything else, its design much different, the building much larger and more naturally ventilated. The wood and tapestry looked aged, some of the carvings in the walls had collected dust and dirt over the years that they stood against the harsh environment they had been built in.
"Hello, how may I help you? My name is Edgar Mossmark, I am the innkeeper here." came an elderly voice from another part of the room. Walking over to its source, Selah found a small old man with dark skin suited for the climate. His hair had completely left him, save for his large white beard. A scar over one stark white eye from a battle unknown, and a stout ebony cane to help him support himself. Selah was not sure what it was about this man, but she found him to be more interesting then most.
"Oh, Hi there! My names Selah bell, I was just stopping in. While I'm here though, I have a question for you. Do you know the joke about the church and the dragon?" Selah said, wiping sweat from her forehead. The old man looked at her shocked, almost angry even, before closing his eyes and clasping both ends over the end of his cane. His face was stern and aggressive looking, his breathing deep and focused. It was like he had to give himself the will to speak again.
"Oh, I see... Your here for her then aren't you?" He said, the word her laced with a tinge of poison. "Very well then, follow me." Walking behind the counter, the elderly man hit a button hidden behind one of the tapestries that was hung against the back most wall. The floor in front of him opened up, revealing a clearly underused stair way, cobwebs and dust flowing out of it as a breeze blew by. Selah followed Edgar down, the stairway leading into a long hallway with many branching passages, twists and turns, doors that lead to room of varying purpose. Edgar stopped in front of a large door, orange light flowing out through cracks in its ancient wooden frame. The crypt that the two of them were in was cooled by virtue of never seeing the light of day, its dark stone walls covered in cob webs and dirt, the little light there was coming from dimly lit torches that dotted the walls around them.
"Your acquaintance is in there. Go on now." Edgar whispered, already walking away back to the Inn. Selah took a deep breath, building her will and pushing away any fear that she may have harbored before. Shutting her eyes and breathing out, Selah pushed the door open and stepped inside the room before her, unaware that she was standing in an ancient crypt once use by one of the most powerful forces in all of earthland- A force that had been wiped from history.
Opening her eyes and shutting the door behind her, Selah found herself in a rather small and cluttered room. The sound of crackling fire from the few torches that sat on the walls filled the room, ancient and torn papers laying around the floor in piles of rusted and broken armor. In the center of the room was a faded gold and purple carpet, an old sandstone table sitting atop it, accompanied by a stool. Looking over to the corner of the room Selah saw a bookshelf with a large collection of old worn books that seemed to have been around for hundreds of years. That's when something- or someone rather finally caught Selah's attention. Leaning against the wall next to the bookshelf, a black leather book in hand, was a tall woman with sharp features that gave her a dangerous look.
That woman had short black hair, wore a white a blue vest and shin length tan pants that just about reached the top of her brown leather boots. Her brown eyes were trained on the open book in her and, scanning over each page, one after another as if she were looking for something very specific. Selah cleared her throat to grab the womans attention, it working almost too well as the woman nearly dropped her book in shock before looking up at Selah. Shutting the book and putting it back on the shelf, the woman walked to Selah with a smile.
"You must be Miss Bell, I must say it is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Carmen Hunt, and I am a historical researcher. My job is to dig into unknown parts of Earthlands history, usually things like where did the dragons come from or what once occupied ancient crypts like the one we are in now." The woman said, her voice deep and hushed as if she didn't want anyone but Selah to hear her. "I have called you here because I believe you may have a connection to what I am researching now."
Selah looked at her with a doubtful expression. What connection could she have to any major historical part of earthland? "What are you researching now, If you don't mind me asking." Selah asked, crossing her arms. After a moment of waiting for a response, Selah walked over to the sandstone table in the middle of the room and sat down on it, impatiently looking over at Carmen who had yet to give her an answer. "Well, go on. If you think I have some connection to your research, you should at least tell me what it is."
"Yes, you're right. I am researching an ancient cult that dates back to the time of the dragons. They have crypts all around the globe, and based off of what I have found while in one of them they worshiped dragons like gods. They had a sort of hierarchy system that I won't go into much detail on, but at the top there were the Zealots. The Zealots were extremely powerful members of the cult who endlessly praised the dragons and were chosen by the dragons themselves. Each one wore a mask with incredible magic power. I believe that you are a descendant of one of the Zealots." Carmen said, the words flowing out of her mouth as if she had said them a thousand times.
Selah couldn't believe her ears. If she was a descendant of some dragon worshiping cult she would know about it! Crossing her arms and shaking her head, Selah looked at Carmen like she was mad. "I think I would know if I was the descendant of some crazy cult that may not even exist pixie cut. The Bell family line extends to the very start of civilization in Fiore, and nowhere did we join this little cult of yours." She said rather annoyed. She tapped her foot on the ground to the beat of a song she had heard in the train earlier, her mind completely pushing out the idea that she would be descended from something like that.
"Oh but Miss Bell, that is where you are wrong. Just because you think your family doesn't have any affiliation with the cult doesn't mean that you don't. Here take a look at this." Carmen said, taking a packed folder off of the book shelf and tossing it to Selah. "Thats all my documentation about the connections you have to the cult, look through it as much as you want." Carmen pulled a book off of the shelf and began to read it while she waited for Selah to examine the contents of the folder. And Selah did just that, opening up the tan folder and looking through that many papers it contained.
The first paper Selah found showed two pictures with small captions underneath. The top picture showed a partially damaged stone carved mural deep inside a crypt that depicted a cloaked woman with long hair, finger against her temple, battling against a large robed figure with a mash. Surrounding them were a countless amount of dragons that seemed to be watching the two of them battle. Lining the bottom of the mural was text in an unkown, yet familiar, language. The caption for the picture translated this text to "In the temple of Taevarth the Immortal, the zealot Kalet participates in strife against an invader."
The bottom image depicted a painting of a similar scene, the color making the image a little easier to make out. While the color was faded, you could see that the womans hair was purple, and that around her were thirteen golden gates. The mask of the Zealot was large, and resembled a dragons snout. In the background, many dragons sat upon large perches as sunlight flooded in from above. Selah browsed through more and more of the pages in the folder, one of them giving a description of the magic the long haired mage used- that description being "Something out of nothing"
"Okay. I believe you a little more, but there isn't anything proving that the mage in the pictures is me. What did you want me to help you with in regards to this?" Selah asked, still looking through all the pictures, her mind racing with questions about what this all meant. If that mage was her, then how did she get back in time? If she did get back in time why on earth was she fighting the cult? Who is Taevarth the Immortal? Why weren't any of the dragons attacking them? It was like a big puzzle with half the pieces missing.
"If you remember, the letter that I sent you came with a mask. That mask belonged to a Zealot, but for some reason it wasn't buried with him like they are supposed to be. On top of that, it's been broken by something- what it was broken by is another question. What I wan't your help with is finding and retrieving the other pieces of the mask to see if I can piece together which Zealot it belonged to and what broke it. For some reason that mask in specific holds some sort of prevalence in the cult, from what I have found it is apparently the strongest and weakest mask they ever crafted. There are hints about the location of other parts of the mask buried all around, which is how I found the part that I sent you." Carmen said, her eyes still trained on the old book in her hand.
"The crypt we are in right now belonged to the cult, the founder of the Inn above found it while exploring the outskirts of the Desert village. Wanting to hide it for himself to spelunk later, he built his Inn on top of its entrance to hide it. Generations later the new owners of the Inn renovated the small first floor into private and incredibly expensive rooms. The rest of the crypt however, remains untouched. Until now that is, I want you do go down into the crypt and see if you can find any information on the mask. If you do, immediately go to retrieve it then place it the piece I sent you. After that you can come back to me for your reward." Carmen spoke quickly before taking a large scroll off the bookshelf next to her, the aged paper tattered and torn. "Here, take this. This has the spell needed to open the passage to the rest of the crypt, a memory make mage like yourself should have no problem using it."
Selah nodded, taking the scroll and saying a quick good-bye before leaving the room. Once she was back out into the dark, dank, and dusty hall of the crypt Selah opened up the scroll and read it. It detailed how to use the magic and where, a large magic circle in the middle of it. After exploring the crypt a little bit, Selah found a dead end in the crypt with the same magic carved into the wall. Placing the open scroll on the ground, Selah placed her fingers on her temples and recited the words in the scroll. "In the name of the great dragons, Grant me passage into this sacred burial site." As the words rolled out of her mouth, the wall carving glowed a brilliant red, the ground below her shaking before opening up and revealing a spiraling staircase that lead into pitch black darkness- luckily Selah was prepared for that kind of thing. Reaching into her pocket Selah took out a small lacrima necklace and put it on before descending the stairs into the dark room below- The lacrima starting to glow as she did, providing just enough light to see more than 10 feet in front of her own face.Selah's footsteps echoed in the large and empty room that the stairway had lead her into, the dust particles in the air shining in the light emanating from Selah's necklace like crystals in the air. All the mage could see was the floor beneath her, illuminated faintly by her necklace. Beyond that, all that could be seen was a pitch black screen of darkness that hid whatever was beyond. Then, as if reacting to her presence, torches all around the room came to life and crackled brilliantly as they gave the whole room a dim orange glow. Around her Selah could see the intricate structure and design of the crypt, large looming archways supporting the room with detailed carvings that gave the room depth. Pits carved inside the walls contained the bodies of what Selah assumed to be the cultists that had built this Crypt.Their bodies were partly preserved by magic, all of the meet having rotted away long ago, but the skin and hair stuck on, both showing the signs of extreme old age. The robes they were laid to rest in were purple, with golden trim and the image of a dragon on the back. For a moment, Selah could have sworn she could see one of them breathing- but quickly pushed the idea of it out of her head. They've been dead for hundreds, maybe thousands of years! Walking up to one of the alcoves in the wall, Selah examined one of the bodies to see if she could found out what had killed it. There were no obvious wounds, but upon closer examination you could see the countless burn scars that covered the skin- It wasn't morphed and wrinkled by age, whoever this was had burned to death. The rest of the bodies had the same burns, and a few had a large hole over where their heart would have been. Just what had happened to these people? After spending more than a reasonable time trying to figure out what had happened to the people buried here, Selah gave up and left the room, walking down a nearby hall lit by dim torches that had too much space in between them to keep the hall properly lit, giving it a gloomy feeling. The sound of rushing air from outside created a low, droning sound that echoed around the crypt and made it feel more alive then it was, the sound muffled by the barrier of sand and stone above. Passing by door after door, and countless hallways that branched off of the one she was in, Selah felt like she was getting lost. She knew she could just turn around and go the way she came, but something about this place felt... strange. Like despite the fact she was still in the same hall she entered to begin with, if she were to turn around and head back she would only find a dead end. The further she walked, the stronger this feeling grew until she was positive that she had gotten lost while walking in a strait line. After she passed another door that looked the exact same as all the others, Selah stopped in her tracks. Was she hearing voices coming from behind that door? She crept up to the door quietly and knelt next to it, placing her ear near the space between the wall in the door to see if she could hear anything coming from within, or if she was just going crazy."Drey hi hon? Tol miil wo ahkrop um usliik ahmil tokah lahzey wah siiv vorey malur do Vulom rahvok." Said a voice behind the wall. Selah listened closer, who was down here? What language where they speaking in, why did it sound so familiar yet so foreign to her- She was almost completely sure that she had never heard it before in her life, and yet she felt like she should be able to understand it. Selah leaned closer as she heard another voice."Geh Zu'u drey, waan rek alun bo het ontzos kras wahl bek ek ahrk mal lahzey fahdon mindos ni wah oraak niist sumaar kolos nust dreh ni engein." Said the second voice. Selah leaned a little closer, leaning against the door entirely before it swung open- causing Selah to fall over and hit the ground with a thud. As she stood up she saw four men wearing the same robes as the bodies in the burial room from earlier"Pruzah, frolok fos mu lost het. lahzey fah ahmil lost bo wah tinvaatey voth mii." Said one of the men, grinning sharply. "Kuz avok lu: Dovah!" The other three men repeated the same phrase, arms shifting and transforming. Red scales grew on them as their muscle increased, their hands gaining large, pitch black claws. Wings burst from their backs, tearing their robes and their teeth grew large and sharp, and their pupils morphed into slits as their eyes turned orange. All four of them yelled and charged at Selah, giving her little time to react."Sorry fellas, hate to hit and run but I have a mask to find." Selah said as she took a large red lacrima out of her bag and threw on the ground hard, immediately shutting the door behind her and running. Moments later the door blew off as an explosion shook the crypt, brilliant red fire billowing out of the room and into the hall, the heat of it so intense it rivaled the blazing desert above. Selah kept running, believing that the Explosive fire lacrima that she had dropped would have taken them out. She was wrong, all four members shooting out of the blaze with their wings spread and their teeth bared viscously as they chased after Selah.
"Dovah Lu: Yol Rein!" One of them shouted, fire erupting out of its mouth with the same force as the lacrima that Selah had dropped earlier. It hit Selah square on the back, sending her flying down the hall and crashing into the wall. Selah yelled as the fire burned through her top and singed her back, a pained expression on her face. Luckily, the fire quickly went out, only leaving her with a minor burn and red skin. Selah heaved as she pulled herself up to face the men who had landed not that far from her. She couldn't use her most powerful spell, it only worked if the sky above her was un-obscured. But, she did have another idea.
"Memory Make: Celestial Field!" Selah said, placing her fingers on her temples. For a brief moment, the light around the men in-front of Selah vanished, a dark bubble forming around them before it returned. They charged at her again, only to hit the invisible barrier caused by her spell. Selah grinned, taking two brown medium sized lacrima out of her bag and throwing them against the ground behind the men- the entire dome that Selah had trapped them in quickly filling with heavy earth, crushing them quickly. Selah let the spell go and watched as the men fell to the ground defeated, the earth from the explosive lacrima quickly covering them up.
"Thanks Fred." Selah said, glad that her guild master had given everyone bag of combat supplies. She wasn't sure if she would have been able to take those guys down without them. Selah walked up to them and grabbed one by the hem of the robes and yanked him up, looking him in the eye. "Okay, just who are you. And please, in English please I don't speak gibberish." She said, glaring at him and waiting for a response. "And while your at it, any information on where to find another piece of the mask would be nice."The man glared right back at her, reluctant to respond. However, seeing as he was at a disadvantage he begrudgingly answered her. "I will not tell you where rest of Volum's mask is, but I will tell you who we are. We are members of Dracones Potentia, dragon cult. The cult never dies, we are still waiting for dragons to return and reclaim world that is rightfully theirs." He said, his words slow and choppy- He barely even knew how to speak english. Selah scowled at him and threw him on the ground with the rest of his fallen comrades before walking off into the dark hall before her. They mentioned someone- Volum. Carmen didn't know who the mask had belonged to, and Selah was sure that if she knew her research would be much easier. So the cult was still around and working under the noses of the magic council- Selah would be sure to ask Fred to tell them about this.
Time slowed to a crawl as Selah continued to explore the ruins of the crypt, this time being more careful in case anybody else was in the crypt. Every step felt like it was in the wrong direction, every turn the wrong one, and every room farther away from anything about where another piece of the mask was. That was until she came to a room ending in a large stone door that was held shut but an impressive steel beam. Selah looked at the door before walking up to it. It was atleast 10 times her size, and there was no way she would be able to even get to the beam herself, even if she could she wouldn't be able to open it. Selah placed her fingers on her temples and thought hard on the words that the cultist has used to breath fire, channeling her thoughts all into the ability to cast the spell. After a moment, Selah opened her mouth to speak.
"Dovah Lu: Yol Rein!" As the words left Selah's mouth her throat twisted and contorted, feeling bestial in nature as if human beings were never to speak that language. A few agonizing moments later and fire bellowed out out her mouth, striking the steel bar rapidly with intense heat that quickly melted it away, leaving a pool of molten steel in its wake. Selah fell to her knees, grabbing at her throat as agonizing pain pulsed from it. Soon enough it returned to normal, and when Selah was finally able to stand again the steel had cooled. Selah took a deep breath and pushed the heavy door open, a large and droning creak echoing through the crypt as she did. The door finished opening with a heavy boom as it locked in place.
Behind the door was an incredibly large cavern, natural sunlight flooding in from above from a natural hole in the ceiling. Following a stairway down to the sand covered bottom of the cavern, Selah looked around. This place was massive, with statues of stone dragons dotted around the cavern. In the center was a large platform with an impressive monument on top of it. At the base of the monument was a stone coffin, open just enough that if you were close you would be able to see what was inside. Walking up to the coffin Selah parted the lid further and looked inside. Inside was the body of a cultist, not bearing robes but armor colored red and gold. The helm grew out into two tall dragons horns collected from the corpse of a slain dragon as a sign of respect. Selah spotted a book next to him and took it before shutting the coffin tight.
Selah was about to turn and go when she felt a incredibly powerful magic presence. Looking up to the gaping hole in the ceiling, Selah saw an incredibly large dragon, much bigger then any other dragon she had ever seen. It's head bore many shining, golden horns that blended seamlessly into its icy gray scales. Its forehead shown brilliantly with a sparkling blue gem, and its eyes glowed with a blue blaze of fire. It's chest was parted, revealing a radiant blue inferno inside its body, and its wings grew wide- not covered by scale, but instead bare and scarred bone. The dragon circled above the whole before diving in and perching on the moment, craning its neck down to confront Selah.
The purple haired mage shuddered in fear- She had never seen a dragon this large before, one of its teeth the size of her entire body. Its breath nearly pushed her back just from the sheer amount and force of it, and its scales looked like they had seen countless amounts of battles. Selah knew that she could not take it down, this was it. This was the end, there was no way she would be able to escape from this dragon. Her breathing was stopped cold as she looked on at the dragon in fear, its wings resting folded against its body as it looked over Selah."Fun zey mon do vax kul, druv lost hi bo wah deytaan staad do ont lot zaag? Druv lost niidro vahmaan iidah hi ahrk druv lost hi gahrot nol niist sonaak?" The dragon said, it's voice booming and loud. Selah finally recognized the language that the cultists had been speaking in, the tongue of dragon. It was no wonder when she had used one of their spells that her body rejected the words. "Kent Zu'u brah daar vahk vun do hin- Must I use this primitive tongue of yours?" Selah looked at the dragon in shock. It had just come down to speak to her, and was speaking in english? Just who was this dragon, why did hadn't it eaten her whole yet? "My name is Darlath, and I am the dragon of kah, or pride."Selah looked at Darlath with intrigue in her eyes, purposefully letting her Guard down. Dragons were beasts, and like most beasts in earthland they could sense the feelings of humans. This dragon in particular had yet to attack her, and that was reason enough for her to trust it for now. "Tell me, why haven't you eaten me yet? You are the first dragon I have ever met that hasn't attacked on site." Selah asked the gargantuan dragon in front of her, an extremely powerful and cold energy radiating from its battle worn body. Darlath looked at her with complacency, as if he had some personal victory from hearing her say that. He closed his glowing blue eyes to ponder the question that he had just been asked, a chuckle coming from his ancient maw.Pulling herself up using one of the dragons great horns, Selah sat ontop the head of the great powerful dragon as it took off. Wind rushed passed her face as they took the sky leaving the crypt behind just as many members of the cult burst into the burial chamber. Just like that they were off and headed back towards the Desert village. Before long Selah was brought to the outskirts of the village, the young mage hopping off Darlaths head and thanking him as he took off. With new knowledge of the location of another mask piece, Selah headed back toward the train station to return the guild.
"I will answer you're question with one of my own. Why did you not attack me?" The old dragon said, his once booming and grizzled voice now hushed and smooth to get the point across better. Selah was taken aback by this question, but she knew the answer well. She had seen dragons before, she had seen people fight dragons and lose. She had seen people with magic tailored to fight dragons and lose. She had seen an army lose to a single dragon. What would make the outcome any different for her if she had decided to fight the dragon before her?
"Because I know I wouldn't be able to beat you. It takes an incredibly powerful mage to take down a dragon, and I have barely started using my magic combatively." Selah responded, her voice wavering. She feared that the dragon would attack, her guard raising up once more in case. She watched Darlath with steady eyes, ready to move as soon as he did. A booming laugh erupted from the ancient dragon in front of her, catching Selah off guard.
"If you truly believed that you can not best me in combat, then why did you ready yourself to fight? You are more powerful then you know Vax Lingrahkiir, to speak the dragons language is an astonishing feat itself for those outside Dovah Suleyk, or the dragons cult."Darlath began, "To speak the dragons language is to allow their power into your body, to allow their inhuman nature to take over yours. To speak our language is to become one of us. Even those who begin learning at a young age take years to learn their first word- But you cast a spell within mere moments after hearing the word. I should have expect such from the Lingrahkiir of Kalet." Darlath chuckled as the last few words left his mouth. In dragons tongue the word lingrahkiir means descendant, or reincarnation.
"But you are not the first to have this ability. There was one before you, one who roamed the battle field leaving mounds of broken bodies in his path- be they human or dragon. His magic was unmatched, his body untouched by the hands of his foes. The dragons called him Vul Kriid, but few ever knew his real name. He joined Dovah Suleyk and quickly seized control of it, twisting it's once peaceful nature into an lahvu do daan- In your tongue that means Army of Oblivion. He could not convince anyone to slay the dragons, but he did convince them to do something even more dangerous. No dragons know what he did, but we all fear it." Darlath admitted, his eyes clouded with the memory of many fallen companions in battle.
Selah shuddered at the thought of someone that powerful, a sense of dread passing through her as if even a memory of him had an aura of powerful. But one word that Darlath had said had stuck in the back of her head- Lingrahkiir. What did it mean? She had used it to refer to her twice- once with bitterness, and once with pride. Her head was a jumbled mess of thoughts, the massive dragon infront her now the least of her worries. Was it true that she had some sort of inborn power that allowed her to speak the dragons language without any practice? She had remembered her grandfather had once spoken about the dragons when she was little. He mentioned that he had fought with many people who spoke the language of dragons when he was back in the guild. Selah pushed the very thought her having a natural gift, instead replacing it with the idea that her magic allowed her to speak the words. There was no way it was true, inborn power and prophecies were all myths that the cruel used to take away the pride of those who worked for their ability.
"I know why you have come here. You are looking for the parts of Volums mask. I will help you find it, but only because I helped to create it and am saddened to hear that it was destroyed in the once great Zealots last moments. I know of one piece that was buried in another crypt deep under the ocean. I know not the crypts location, but I believe that you will be able to find it. Come, I will carry you out of the crypt. There is no doubt that your presence has been discovered and the exit has been sealed." Darlath offered, lowering his head more to allow Selah to climb on.

- Sabertooth In: Road Fighters!:
Selah had just gotten back from a little outing to the scorching Desert Village where some peculiar events had happened. Long story short- Dragon's aren't actually the worst thing in the world if you know how to speak their language. But now she was back and ready for some good old rest and relaxation... only after a quick drink of course. Selah had worked the bar in the guild hall enough to know where everything is, and seeing as the guild hall was empty right now she just hopped over the counter and began making herself something good. About half an hour later she was finished drinking, leaving enough Jewel behind to pay as she walked up to her room. Not a single slip or stumble was had- While alcohol had minor effects on her personality, Selah could walk and move around just like she could if she was sober. Selah had almost made it to the living quarters when something caught her- A golden embroidered letter attached to the job board. Selah read it over twice just to make sure she hadn't missed anything before ripping it off the board and heading into the living waters, the light of twilight shining in through the large windows of the guild hall. The mage wandered down the hall looking for the room of a particular mage- but gave up looking for it half way through. She would just make it, or its inhabitant rather, come to her.
"Maaaaaash! Come on gloves get up I know your around here somewhere!" She shouted at the top of her lungs as she walked up and down the living quarter hallways. She knew he was home somewhere, atleast halfway sure. "Come on Gloves rise and shine! Get up before you wake up with ice down your pants!" Selah shouted once more as she waited for him, or someone else, to come out and stop her from yelling. No luck just yet, but she did hear the agitated groans of other members of the guild so she knew she was being loud enough to wake him up if he was even here. "MAAAAAAASH!"
Selah was quickly getting more and more frustrated that he hadn't responded, already getting a memory make spell ready to get a chunk of ice and make good on her threat earlier. That was until another guild member got out of their room and told her to be quiet and which room Mashyuu was in. She smiled and thanked them, charging full speed down the hall until she reached Mashyuu's door. Taking a deep breath, she pounded on his door and shouted again. "Get up sleepy head, I got something to show you! Maaaaash!" No response. She knocked again, louder this time, "Gloves come on!" Nothing. "Get up Maaaash its important!" Again- nothing. Selah gave it one last effort, banging on his door hard and shouting his name one last time as she waited for a response- Maybe he wasn't even home. "MASHYUU!"- Total Counter:

- Sabertooth In: Attaining Closure!:
Closure- Something that Selah believed was a fundamental right to every living thing. To be left without it created an empty void that something was meant to fill, an emotional vacuum that would take up the beings very will to go on. Without closure, things were always different. They were dull, and gray. Without closure, someone may completely change. For Selah, Closure was the most important thing in the world. Everything ran on it, ran on the feeling of knowing that she knew what happened, that she felt like what had happened was all that would happen. Closure kept the world turning, because without it- everything would just stop one day.
Sunlight beamed in through the window of Selah's room of the Sabertooth guild hall, particles of dust glimmering faintly in the morning rays. It was the start of a new fall day, the trees had begun to turn color- the brilliant, verdant green of summer shifting to the wonderful auburns, oaken reds, and vibrant yellows of the harvest season. The air had begun to cool, and the days slowed down as the year gradually began to end. Birds chirped outside, their melodic songs carried by the wind as they flew past the guild hall on their way south in search of warmer, more habital climate. It was Selah's favorite time of year, the time for festivals, song, dance, and best of all- Pumpkin Flavored Brandy. Oh Selah just adored the stuff, but they didn't sell it any other time of the year. And so, with spirits high Selah awoke early with a smile on her face, her grin stretching ear to ear as she moved from her bed to the window and peered out to the vast city and mountains below. Wind picked up and carried the scent of candied apples from the stalls below.
With a quick shower and stretch, Selah donned her cloak and headed out into the guild hall, seeing it quite sparsely occupied- only a few mages who had just gotten back from jobs, along with the even fewer early risers sitting about and communing in the grand hall. That's what happens when you wake up at the crack of dawn, you get nice quiet time. But Selah had one thing on her mind, and that was getting herself some Brandy to kick off the day. She made her way over to the bar, hopping over the counter and starting to peruse the shelves of alchohol, failing to find any brandy at all. It was all just wines and booze, nothing even close to what Selah wanted. With a groan, Selah turned to lean on the counter, spotting a note with her name on it.
Sorry Selah, we won't be getting any new shipments of Brandy for week,
everyone got to it before you! Don't worry, next time ill be sure to save you a bottle of
your favorite! -Casey
It had been left by one of her guildmates, a 26 year old woman who regularly worked the bar at night, or whenever Selah wasn't around to do it herself. Casey was nice, and often did save a bottle or too for Selah despite the fact that it was against the rules, so Selah was always greatful for her whenever she came through. With a content sigh, Selah folded the note and placed it in her pocket. Might aswell check the job board then, see if there was anything that needed to be done while she waited for the shipment to come in. Hunting, finding lost items, escorting, just the usual jobs you would find. She would have to choose one of them if she didn't find anything interesting. Lucky for her however, tucked in the very bottom corner of the job board was a paper, starting to brown from age, with an acceptance awaiting stamp on it. Selah picked it up, reading the faded words on the page carefully. It went into very brief detail about strange events going on in the phoenix mountains; missing persons, dead creatures, plants starting to rot for no reason. Just general spookiness that intrigued Selah, prompting her to press her thumb against the approval awaiting stamp on the corner. The intricate details of the stamp glowed blew, before a small lacrima appeared before Selah, hovering in the air for a moment, radiating a blue glow before dropping into her hands.
Without warning, Selah's vision and mind went blank. No thoughts at all, nothing. Images began to flash, first of a deer- its skin a sickly green, fur falling off and exposed meet and bone in areas that its flesh had been torn by lord knows what. Selah felt sick and empty looking at this image. Next came the same deer, now looking at Selah, with flies crowding it. The third image flashed, once more of the desecrated deer, now attacking Selah with rage in its eyes. Selah felt violent, disturbed, and ready to pass out. Next, an image depicting a flock of birds, each lacking varying amounts of feathers and flesh, all staring at Selah with cold, lifeless, and cruel eyes. Another image quickly flashed, now of the birds swooping down and attacking Selah, they grotesque bodies mangled and destroyed by something unknown. The final image was a bear seen from afar, not in quite the same state as the previous animals, but still afflicted by something. Selah regained her consciousness, finding that the job request now had a few more words written on it- Dispose of the undead creatures and find the cause, 500,000 jewel reward. The reward nearly made Selah's eyes pop out of her head, 500,000 jewel?! No, she couldn't take it. Those animals were in pain, she couldn't take money just for helping them come to peace.
She wasn't going to do this alone however- The startup mage found herself in the guild housing once more, leaving a note on Mash's door made of hardened neon (An element all the great alchemist's knew how to use well) that was sure to grab his attention. It simply stated that she had headed to the phoenix mountains, and to meet her there for a job with a great reward. And with that, Selah set off for the Phoenix Mountains, knowing just what to do.- Total Counter:
