Today was the day. Daiko had been training ever since he had joined the guild known as "Savage Skull". He blinks, the pillars climbing up into the sky, seeming to leave this world and enter a new one entirely; the pillars were higher than he could see. As he walked over the gravel path, the stones crunched beneath his feet, his body being covered by only his measly jacket. Going into his smoke form, he awkwardly walks up the path. While his clothing is being kept generally warm, parts of him were being blown to the point where he looked like some sort of goblin. He keeps himself together, before finally arriving at the doorstep of the building. He pushed the door open with three fingers, being greeted by the darkness of the inside. Going back into his human form, pushing his hair out of his face. There was nothing unusual going on, there was a few people, looking sketchy as usual. He raps his hands on a table, glancing around the room, sensing a large amount of power, but he doesn't know where it's from. The only thing in the room he doesn't recognize is a giant, white coat of sorts.

Daiko slowly walks over to the coat, not able to catch a glimpse of who's face is underneath. "You must be the person giving the exam." He bows slightly to show respect, but not going down all the way. "Let's get on with the exam then." He raises an eyebrow, not afraid to meet whatever standards she required.

Daiko glances skeptically at the person giving him his exam. She handed him a map, complete with a small X on it. The map felt rough, as if it had been used for quite some time, and prickled his fingers when he spread it out. He listened closely to her instructions, as he had the feeling he'd only be hearing them once. "Sword that's stuck in the ground, huh? Sounds simple enough..." He lets off a slight laugh, before rubbing his eyes with his index finger and thumb. After the simple explanation, she started talking about how her friend was going to be there. He would have to answer a question, then retrieve the sword. She then continued to say it was very precious to her. That wouldn't explain why it was stuck in the ground, but.. No matter. He would set off at once. Flipping his hood over his head, he walks out of the building, leaving nothing but the patter of his feet against the hard tiles. It was time to get to work. Flashing into his smoke form, he lifts himself in the air, going 18 meters per second to this mass of trees known as Spooky Forest.

Gently floating to the ground, Daiko glances around him. There wasn't much to see, other than dark trees. The rain added to the effect of the forest being spooky, that was for sure. taking a caustic step toward the forest. At the moment, there wasn't much that he could tell as to the location of the sword. For now, he'll just walk inside. He is surround on all sides by the thick forest, and he lets out a sigh. Climbing a thick, tall tree, he looks down at his ring. Closing his eyes, he steps out of his body, projecting himself. Looking at his body, he laughs a bit; he looked pretty sexy whilst sleeping. Hopping off of the tree, he walks around, seeing many creatures. There were these weird things.. sort of like wolves but a lot more grotesque. He walks past these, not being noticed by them. Walking around the forest for what felt like ages, he came to the sword. Sitting down next to it, he notices that it has a small turtle man thing sitting next to it. He wasn't noticed, and rubbed his eyes. Not being able to interact with stuff sucked at times. Running back to where he thought his body was, he blinked. It seemed to be gone. Looking around, he notes that his body wasn't anywhere to be found... Did he have to touch his body to go back to it? Gulping down his fears, he looks down at the ring. Using it, nothing happens.

Daiko lets out a deep sigh, before hopping off of the tree and onto something squishy. Oh. It was his body. Punching himself in the face, his hand passed through his face and he got back inside of his body. It surely wasn't the most pleasant experience, but it didn't matter much. Walking, he noticed one of the wolf-beings staring at him, growling. "This again?" He sighs, once again going into his smoke form, firing off two bullets. The creature runs straight past them, the bullets burying themselves in it's flesh. They didn't seem to effect it much, he noted with huge eyes, planning his next attack. There wasn't much he could do, with a wolf beast running at him, claws and teeth shining in the sky, the raindrops making a red pool around the bullet holes. Doing the only thing he.. really knew how to do, he leaped over the wolf as it was running. That seemed to do the trick, the thing would snap it's mouth upward at him whenever he did it. Spinning the pistols in each hand, he smirks. "Here puppy~" The wolf beast came running at him, and Daiko lept up. When it began to snap it's mouth at him, he pointed his pistols down, shooting two at it's throat. The exposed, open mouth left the shots to come easily, before the creature let out a shriek. It... Still wasn't dead. "Dammit, you're a tough one to kill." Daiko smiles, holding his pistols by the barrels. "I guess i'll take care of you like this."

Daiko charges at the giant wolf creature heading his way, and, before it hits him, dodges to the right, bringing his right hand to slam the butt of the pistol against the dog's snout, causing another loud screech. It was probably calling it's family, but.. No matter. There was business to attend to! Taking both pistols, Daiko smashes the thing in the face, continuously, until it stopped moving. Kicking it's head to the side, he pushes sweat from his forehead. Putting his pistols in his holders, he puts his hands on his knees, catching his breath. Hopefully there weren't more of these things, otherwise he would have to break out the real skill. Now that the giant wolf beast was dead, he could finally be in peace. That was, before he saw the four others. These four were mostly small, the size of an average wolf but still just a gnarly as the one he'd just fought. There was one slightly bigger, that appeared to be the mother. Cracking his neck, Daiko stares them down. If he had to kill the entire family of creatures, he wouldn't hesitate. At least they weren't humans...

--- Years Before ---

Daiko's hands were covered in blood, that of someone very close to him. Looking down at his felled father, he shed a single tear, the hatred dying down to the point where he felt genuinely bad for the man. It wasn't his fault Daiko's mother had died... It was the cause of her leaving, and may have been cause of the jump, but it couldn't have been more than that...

Daiko blinks, the wolf creatures charging him all at once. They were all jumping and trying to tear at him, and he wasn't... all that ready.

But of course, Daiko, being the man he was, always had a trick up his sleeve. He was already in smoke form, he just had to kick it up a notch. He flashed a bright white, becoming more a fluid type of smoke, the edges of him being blurred around, making him look a lot more.. creepy. He has enhanced speed, and is ready to kick ass. The wolves pass through him, and he points the pistols at them. He unloads a bullet in all of their heads except the mother, whom he kicks straight in the face. They are all taken aback, and even Daiko was surprised he could pull that off. Sliding his pistols into his pocket, he gulps down any fear he's head before. He didn't actually have knuckles... but it was a habit. He rushed at the mother, using his intangibility to pass into her, grabbing at her inside and slamming her against a tree. He then created a whip in his right hand, using it to grip around the Mother wolf creature thingy. He brutally squeezes the life out of it, cutting off any and all oxygen it might be able to receive. Using the mother's body as a flail, he swings it at the children. They are howling and shrieking at their fallen mother, and Daiko uses this to catch them off guard. He continues to use the mother's corpse as a weapon, but the wolves started evading it, knowing the patterns.

Daiko sighs, tossing the creature's limp, lifeless body into the wolves. Whip still in hand, he runs toward them. Cracking the whip at one, he hears yet another shriek, only three remaining. One must have been killed by the mother moving on to the third wolf beast creature he'd kill, he jumped on it while it was charging, wrapping the whip around it's neck. Using it to control the beast, he rode it into the other ones, which ripped and teared at the garm's flesh. Finally pulling the thing into a tree, he pulls sharply on the disgusting creature's neck, hearing a loud snapping sound. Only two were remaining, and he knew the perfect way to finish them off. As they both charged, he held out his pistols, one in each hand. The whip was dangling loosely from his wrist, still ready for use if needed. Getting ready to fire, Daiko grins.

Daiko grins, pulling the trigger of both pistols twice, unloading into each of the creature's foreheads. This basically blew their brains out of the back of their skull, and they lay limp. He kicks the corpses of the felled enemies, making sure they're dead. Cracking his neck, he looks beyond where he is, remembering the general direction in which he'd found the sword. Going back into his human form, he notes that it had stopped raining. Smiling a bit, he walks, keeping his hood down over his shoulders. He walks through the forest, looking for more of the things. Some stared at him, growling a bit and not attacking. Daiko slightly sticks his tongue out at one, and calls "We'll have a chance to fight later, trust me." He continues the long walk, the trees looking as if they were bending down to grab at him. Raising a single eyebrow, he continues to walk. After walking for quite a bit, he notices a small clearing. He recognizes this place from when he was in his astral form, it was the place that the sword stood in the ground. Cracking his knuckles, he sets his hands around it, before he is interrupted by some sort of weird turtle man. The man says nothing, but gestures to a spot in front of him. Daiko gladly sits, the ground in this patch being much dryer than the muddy earth around the rest of the forest. The man looks at Daiko, his old eyes piercing into his soul. He asks only a simple question, asking it as if he did not know the answer. Parting his lips, he speaks "Tell me... Is our universe... in which we continue our lives, actually existent?"

Daiko blinks in the general direction of this man. Never before had be been asked such a question. Looking down at the dirt, he asks, "Mind giving me a second to think?" The man nods, and Daiko begins to knock on his head. There was no way he could know if the universe existed, or even was real. He was living in it, having what he thought was free will. But was anything actually there? Maybe someone was controlling everything he did, having his life warp and change into what he was in the mood for? Did any of his actions matter in the long run? Was he just forced into encounters with others for the pure joy of someone controlling him? Daiko shook his head, looking down at the grass. He feels it on his fingers, pulling a strand up and spinning it in his fingers. He could feel it, along with smelling the aroma of the picked grass. Pressing it in his palm, he looks up at the turtle man. "It has to exist. In one way or another, it's created. Whether we are all controlled and destined to meet each other isn't something I'd be able to say, but feeling this grass, looking around, it's obvious that our Universe is existent in some way." The turtle man nods, pointing to the sword.

Daiko wraps his hands around the sword, giving it a sharp tug. It came out of the ground, in pristine condition, and Daiko was actually quite impressed. Whoever had made it surely knew what they were doing, and he marveled at intricate the designs on it. It was hard to tell if it were a piece of art or a weapon used for fighting. Wrapping it in a cloth, Daiko nods to the old man, taking off. Jumping in the air, he begins to fly back to the guild house of Savage Skull.

When he finally arrived, he walked inside. He didn't know if the proctor of his exam was there or not, and called out to all. "I have your sword! Come down here and get it!" He gives off a grin, ready to continue climbing the ranks to victory.
