Kodai Venator, the Ancient Huntsman, walks to the edge of the forest in which he lived. He was somehow wrangled into doing a mission by some little girl... with a humongous hammer. The little girl, Elulu, had been pleaded by an old man to save his village, but she felt like she couldn't do it alone. Kodai sighs as he remembers what happened yesterday. This little pink-haired girl had come up to him, recognizing the mark of the Rune Knights on his tunic. She had begged and pleaded with him to help her with this mission, and he had to agree. I mean, that was his job now. Helping people. So he told her that he'll meet her at the job site the next day, and she happily agreed. So he had made his way back home to prepare.
Now, standing at the edge of the woods, he drew out a small black whistle and blew on it. He nodded to himself, despite the fact that it had made no sound. Minutes later, a shadow detached from the forest and made it's way across the ground over to him. From within it emerged his faithful, steadfast wolf companion, Skia.
"What do you need, Kodai?" the horse-sized, completely black wolf spoke into his mind.
"I need to go to the Ancient Ruins." he responded mentally. Skia nodded.
"Ancient Ruins for the Ancient Huntsman... Perfect. Alright, climb on." she said. Kodai chuckled as he jumped onto her back. Skia laughed in response as she sank into her shadow and sped away to the Ruins.
Half an hour later, the shadow-traveling duo popped out of the ground near the Ancient Ruins. Kodai thanked his companion as he dismounted, then looked around for Elulu as Skia shadow-traveled away.
