Size Matters (Private: Hikari & Raven)

Raven was grumbling while inspecting her foot as she felt strong wind against her back. Lifting her head, she looked back towards where it is coming from to see a black Magpie right above them. “You have got to be kidding me,” she sighed as she looked at the very hungry bird with her mouth open. “Seriously? WE LOOK LIKE WORMS TO YOU?!” She yelled out, regretting It the very next second as its beady eyes fixed on her. “Uhmm…haha…nevermind?” she laughed nervously, backing up only to fell something quite hard but soft behind her.

Looking back, she found a black ant staring straight at her as well. “Oh great…you were just what we needed,” she said sarcastically with a roll of her eyes as she changed to her royal form. “I’m sorry but I need to end this,” she screamed as she brought her sword down on the ant and then using her flying ability to drag the sword over its body, effectively killing the creature that had moved to trap her between its mouth.

Now they had only one thing to take care of and that was the bird. “Hika, got anything to actually deal some sort of damage to that thing?” she asked, moving back, her grip still strong on her sword. All she had with her was speed. If she wanted to take it down, she had to move fast. But before making any unnecessary move, she needed to see if Hikari had something effective up her sleeve.

“It’s still not a crow, dammit!” Raven cried as she rushed over to Hika. “Urgh this this is way too big,” she complained to no one in particular as she raked her brain for something to use. She looked around, found Kuroe and took place once again. As Kuroe flew in front of Magpie’s eyes to divert its attention, Raven took flight once more before launching an attack on its neck, slashing there twice before being pushed back with the side of its wings.

Thanks to her armor, she didn’t take much damage but it still managed to put her back on ground. “Urgh...Seriously….I’m THE QUEEN OF RAVENS, YOU BIRD! Dammit!” she yelled out as she got up, slapping dust off her shirt and shorts.

When she looked up however, she found that it was still groaning from her early. Neck is a weak spot for any bird, after all just as much as their wings. “Hika! Now is the best time...Aim for its wings!” she told her as she stood back ready to launch another attack after Hikari. If they were lucky, they would be able to finish their mission earlier than they thought it would.

“You don’t have to tell me twice!” she exclaimed, bringing the sword closer to her. She waited for the exact moment the magpie lowered to the ground with its other wing and dashed forward with her superior speed to slash once at the top of the wing before stopping mid air and turning back to slash under the wing. By the time Raven landed, the magpie had completely lost its wings. She wasn’t very fond of what they were doing now. They were attacking a bird...but it was either kill or get killed.

“Hika! Neck..It’s neck!” she shouted for the shorter girl who was standing around without a clue to go for its neck. “Woman! Aim for its neck!” she clarified as she flew up once more. This time, she was aiming for the ring on its beak. “Alright birdy..We need that ring...what are you going to do with it anway? Propose to a female magpie?” she snickered only to have the Magpie roar at her with an intense look on its eyes. “You are kidding me, right?” she asked with a roll of her eyes as she avoided the magpie’s huge beak as it tried to peck her. “Woah!”

She sighed at the laughing Hikari with a hand on her head. What on earth was the girl laughing about? The joke wasn't even that funny. "Stupid girl," she muttered under her breath and turned away to concentrate at the task at hand. However, it seemed like Hika had pulled herself up as the Magpie fell with a loud cry to its death. "Poor thing," she said as she ran a hand over its beak before pulling the ring out of it. "And that's that," she said to Hika as she passed the ring to her.

In a few minutes, Raven felt a familiar sensation run through her as she grew in size. She felt the full power of her magic return to her as she looked down to find the dead magpie on the ground. Feeling responsible for the innocent creature's death, Raven picked it up, giving Kuroe a look. Her partner must have understood her because he was already digging a small hole on the ground.

She set the bird down inside the hole and started covering it with soil again. "I hate it..we had to kill a bird for getting the stupid ring," she complained more to herself as she got up. Turning to Hikari, she gestured to the lady impatiently tapping her foot on the ground.

“Indeed” Raven said with no excitement as she made her way back with Hikari as well, still looking back at the place she buried the bird. It was one of her species, after all, she thought with a sigh. She glared at the woman when she started getting all happy for her ring but kept her mouth shut for the sake of not ruining the whole thing in the very last minute. “I’m never taking these kinds of jobs again,” she muttered to Kuroe as she munched on a cookie as well with a dark look on her face as the woman raised her eyebrow curiously at her. When she turned back however, she found Hikari already on her way back to the guild. “Honestly…I can’t believe that little girl. She completely forgot about us, Kuroe,” Raven groaned, pushing her hands angrily inside the pockets on either side of her shorts before following the hopping girl back to the guild as well. When she gets back, she had to pack her bag and set out once again for another one of her favorite travels. This time, she would be going to Magnolia with the library there in mind and would hopefully come back to something pleasant.
