It was quite hot that day and beads of sweat were beginning to form on her forehead. "Must resist the urge to wipe it off." the girl mumbled. Wiping the sweat off means she has to take off her mask and that was a big no-no. Still the drop of sweat was now traveling downwards as she contemplate on whether to wipe it of not. "Ah screw it." she said as if giving in to temptation. She turned her head to see if anyone was around and when she saw that the coast was clear, took off her mask and wiped the drops of sweat which was not on both sides of her cheeks. She let out a soft sigh of relief, the annoying drop was now gone. She was on the process of placing her mask back on when she heard footsteps coming her way. When she was sure her mask was firm in place she turned towards the owner of the approaching pair of feet and said "It's about time." Her lips curled into as smile as she added "So shall we get going?"

A masked girl stood by the village gates. She and her partner had just accepted a job to investigate the sudden increase in vulcan activity in the area. Apparently some of the vulcans are treading into human territory and stealing stuff like food and other necessities. It was quite peculiar since vulcans usually get their food from within the forest that they live in. Something must have upset the balance and she wants to find out what.

Indar was waking towards the forest, his steps kinda slow, but at the same time consistent. He was on a job with a legal, again. The last one had gone well, with him covering up his Savage Skull tattoo, but who knew what would happen this time. It could go worse or it could go better. Indar had no clue yet, to be honest, he didn't know much of the person he was doing the job with, but it suddenly happened like that. Quite odd, considering he didn't even know what guild the mage was from, although he knew that the mage was a legal mage. That was something at least.
He finally sighted the other mage in the distance. A woman, wearing a mask as it seemed. But she turned around, hiding her face from him, though Indar was still at quite the distance. His weapon, Ilvren was locked onto his back and some sort of tumors were felt from the ground. Ilythiran was still going following him around. It was slightly annoying to have that creature follow him.
In a few minutes, he reached his partner, not paying attention to the mask. His guild tattoo was covered by the collar on his jacket. '' Hello there, name's Indar. You are the person i'm going to be clearing the vulcans with? ''

"Yes, that will be me, the name is Aria Sefried." replied Aria as the blonde haired mage reached out his hand to shake hers. She looked at the man trough her ceramic mask and spoke once more. "Sorry if we have to meet under such conditions. I never show my face to anyone, not even to the members of my own guild." There was a brief pause as she removed her hands from his then continued to speak. "So do you have any idea where to start? Its not like the vulcans would just come rushing at us. " She really had no idea where to start their journey and was hoping her new companion would have an inkling as what to do. For if it were up to her, she would just bust trough the forest and create ruckus until the vulcans come out. Of course that means she might attract the attention of the other vicious inhabitants of the forest.
She must have noticed that she was lost in her thoughts again as she saw her partner looking at her with that weird expression on her face. If he did say anything she might not have heard any of it. To mask her embarrassment she pretended to say something witty and began marching towards the edge of the forest. That was when she noticed the slight tremors that had been following her and her partner. Curious she turned to him and said "Did you just feel the earth move?"

The woman had introduced herself as Aria Sefried. Not a name Indar had heard before honestly. He was kinda curious, as to what the woman was hiding under the mask, but as he heard her explanation, he wasn't going to ask her. It wouldn't be nice of him and he really needed a good first impression, if his guild would ever come out to her. Well, that wasn't a problem so far, his jacket's collar did a good job of keeping it hidden.
'' I am not sure really, it is a fairly big forest, though i'm kinda positive it won't take us a long time to find one or two, but ten may take some time. '' He had a happy smile on his face as he said that. This job wasn't hopefully going to be hard, especially with Ilythiran here or well, that may just make it harder. Explaining what he is, may take some time, but oh well, if it came to that, he would think how to do it then.
When Aria walked away, Indar didn't notice it right away, as he was in his thoughts yet again, but when he did, he caught up with her quickly, just in time to hear her mention the tremors. To that, all that Indar could do, was to have a very conspicuous look. '' I did, um, well it's hard to explain, but that is my pet. He is kinda on the bigger side, so well, he burrows underground. He'll probably show up when we find some vulcans, he is kinda shy. '' As he said shy, a more powerful tremor was made, almost making Indar lose his balance. Guess Ilythiran had heard him.

Aria almost tripped over the earth beneath her shook, the last tremor was a tad stronger than the subtle quakes she felt earlier. She would have fallen over if she had not use ability to float. Aria wondered what kind of beast could it be, it must be quite something considering its mere movements could affect the surroundings. She then look at her comrade and then looked at herself hovering a few feet from him. "I hope you don't mind if I hover a bit. It seems your pet is a bit excited."
Aria levitated some more and looked on ahead, towards the Spooky Forest, home of some of the notorious and most peculiar creatures in Fiore. Before them was a huge expanse of greenery stretching from the thick thickets and shrubs that cover the forest edge and deep into heart of the unknown. Various noises can be heard, but she knows too well that its not the noisy ones to look out. There are viscous creatures that could just crawl up from behind and launch deadly strikes. "How are we going to find we going to find those vulcans."
Then an idea hit her."Hey Indar, I was just thinking, the Spooky forest is quite big and it might take us a while before we can find those Vulcans...So I thought maybe we can split up so we can cover up more ground."

A shadow fell over Indar's eyes as he just thought of what Aria said. Ilythiran probably was exited, he had told the beast they would get to fight today, so today would be a happy day for the creature. Although, Indar had never told him exactly when, so he was getting restless and wanted to fight right away, but as this wasn't happening, Ilythiran was bugging Indar and Aria by moving as close to the surface as possible.
Indar could tolerate the tumors thank to his metallic powers and Aria seemed to have no problem, as she had the ability to float. Indar listened to her, as Aria spoke out. Her idea being to split up, Indar had no real problem with it and if she suggested it, he was quite sure Aria could handle it. Though, he was still kinda in between if the should split up or stick together. Guess splitting up would cover more ground and they did have to defeat ten of these apes, so yeah, it probably was the better plan.
''Splitting up sound like a plan to me.'' There was a split coming on the road they were going on, so it felt correct to split up now. Indar headed to the right and looked over to Aria: ''You can handle yourself right? Wouldn't want to see my teammate for this job getting pushed into the corner by a bunch of apes.'' He let out a small laugh, as he turned around and headed on his own way.

Aria was about to give Indar the thumbs up and say good luck but her partner already turned around and hurried on his was. "He took the left route so that means..." she thought as she looked at the road ahead. Nothing seems out of the ordinary, looked like any road she had been on, except maybe that this one harbors hostile creatures lurking behind every bush or bend. With that thought in mind she proceeded to tread on with caution.
It was a good thing that she could float, no footsteps means less chance of her alerting the wrong prey. But how was she suppose to know which is which? "They said the vulcans were stealing food, perhaps I should find a place where food is bountiful." But that was no easy task, the trees lining by the side of the road prevents her from seeing anything at all beyond the heavy forest undergrowth. So she continued to hover along the road, hoping to find anything at all.
After minutes of floating aimlessly, she happened upon a clearing where there are a bunch of wild berries grew. It couldn't hurt to try and it was better than moving on without any real leads. So instead of doing the walking game, she was forced to play the waiting game. She hovered up into one of the nearby tree branches and sat on it. Hoping that her plan would pay off.
Unknown to her two sets of eyes were watching her the minute she entered the clearing.

This road was seemingly not leading anywhere. It felt like a dead end to Indar and in a sense he was right. There was nothing here, just more trees and the path was getting thinner as well. Hopefully Aria had a better route and not some boring thingy like this. Though as Indar moved on, something caught his attention or more so he caught it's scent. Strange really, it was a vulcan's smell, Indar would know it from miles away.
When he finally reached the area of the scent, he found three vulcans there. One small and two medium sized ones. This would be a quick kill, with no interruptions. But he wasn't the only one wanting to take them out. So, without a warning Ilythiran busted out of the ground, right underneath the feet of the small vulcan and took the tiny beast with himself back underground. The other vulcans were in distress and noticed Indar.
There lacked time to fight them properly for now, so Indar just decided to see what they would do. Would they attack him or just call for more vulcans, what ever really, Indar would just still fight them. He readied a spell, just in case of an attack on him. A spell which could hopefully eliminate these apes.

It wasn't long before a vulcan appeared out of one of the trees. It was a bit anxious as it approached the clutter of wild berry bushes that grew all around the clearing. It kept on turn its head sideways and all the way behind. "Thats it just a little bit closer." the ghost mage thought. Soon the vulcan would be within her striking range and she can launch a critical strike that takes out the wild beast. Tense hands and feet were ready to pounce for the instant that the beast starts picking the berries.
Down below, the jittery vulcan approached the bush with the most fruits on them and started harvesting them. Like a flash, Aria flew from the tree then directly behind the vulcans back. Her arms in a stance about to give the vulcan a chop at the back of its neck. But her hand never landed. Strong hands covered in silver fur firmly held her hand in place. Another vulcan, it was lighter in color than the one that appeared before, it also was bulkier and probably quicker for it was able to intercept her attack, she who was one of the fastest mage in her guild.
Aria struggled to break free from the monstrous grip of the vulcan. But it was hard to do so when your arms are bound while another is jabbing at her sides. Yes, the other vulcan that acted as bait was now raining punches at her. Dire situations require drastic solutions so without second thought she activated poltergeist.

The two vulcans charged at Indar, ready to strike the guy down. It wouldn't be so easy though, not even close. Though, Indar wasn't moving, he wanted to see the damage these two apes could do to him. So he just stood there, waiting. The first attack came a few seconds later and landed straight into Indar's face, though without a delay a second strike came, which forced Indar to the ground.
As he analysed the damage, the two vulcans seemed to be laughing. Hadn't they noticed the small one was missing, the one Ilythiran probably had eaten by now. Well, at least they were too busy to notice Indar getting back up, which was nice. He stood up in front of them, eyes filled with excitement, this would be a fun slaughter.
''Metallic God's Sword.'' Indar's right hand took the shape of a shadowy blade, made of pure god metal. It's unholy aura made the Vulcans notice Indar. There was really no way they couldn't notice the sword and the aura. The blade was about ten feet in length, quite the large thing it was.
Although, Indar didn't waste a minute, he charged at the two, jabbing his sword into the abdomen of one of them. The vulcan yelped from pain, the pure agony that was forced through it's organism. But Indar, instead of feeling bad for the creature, had a smile on his face, his eyes showed no emotion towards the act. The insanity inside Indar had awoken and it was hungry for suffering.
The yelp did bring some unwanted attention towards Indar as well. There were sounds heard from the bushes, more Vulcans were coming, more than he could easily handle. This would get messy or so he hoped.

It began as a green flash from her eyes, then to some kind of eerie energy that began to seep of out her body, until her whole body was completely surrounded by the ghostly light. As her body shone bright, objects around her began to levitate including the two vulcans. The smaller one that was tormenting her a while ago with punches tried to cling to her, not wanting to be caught up with the other debris that began to rise up with them. But the force pulling it away was so strong and within seconds it was whirling around with the rocks and other objects that litter the forest floor that was caught up in the maelstrom and was smashed up against it repeatedly until it was a bloody pulp.
The silver haired vulcan though shaky from balancing itself in mid air did had a good grip on the young mage. He doesnt want to share the same fate as his comrade. But it was mistaken, if it thinks being on ground zero would keep it safe, it was seriously mistaken. Aria turned her full attention at him. One by one the orbiting debris began to hit the silver-haired beast. Soon trees were being uprooted and added into the fray. One by tree trunks flew its way, the beast shielded itself with its free hand while clutching Aria with the other. The maelstrom started to move faster now, it was howling as the mass it collected started to create an dreadful sound.
The beast fearing in a fit of rage bare its fangs at Aria ready to bit down on her shoulder. Another foolish mistake. For before it could bite down on his prey, thousands or small glowing beads flew out in all direction then right back at him. Going straight right into his mouth, nose and eyes. That finally did the job for its grip on her finally got loose. And it was soon joined the rest of the objects spinning around the ghost mage.

''Three more, eh?''
Indar's mind had been fully lost now, the insanity consumed all mercy and humanity left in him for now. These five vulcans, were facing someone, who didn't care what happened to him anymore, the only thought in Indar's mind, at least for now, was to kill these apes. Not to let them live any longer. His sword was waiting for blood and Ilythiran was coming again. These monkeys were in a trouble. Especially the smaller ones.
Indar charged forward at the two who were seemingly children still, but no matter. They came to fight Indar, so they had to go. Indar sword pierced one of the two, leaving it to die. But that caused the strong looking Vulcan to charge at him, sending Indar flying into a tree. This was kinda surprising, considering Indar held no respect for these primitive creatures. They were worse than humans.
As he was getting back up, a tremor was felt. Ilythiran was charging at one of the vulcans again. Towards the one who Indar had stabbed previously. Bursting out underneath the vulcan and basically eating him, Ilythiran had made his entrance, yet again. Though, before he disappeared again, he dived onto the smaller vulcan, who was bleeding and took it with him into the ground.
This cleared the playing field again, though in a second, Indar could see the strong and normal ones charging at him, with the small vulcan behind them in close pursuit. This would be fun indeed.

A supernatural tornado tore through the trees. Green energy swirling at a rapid pace uprooted trees and lifted rocks, leaving its wake devastation and destruction. This was what she hated about this spell, and usually uses it as a last resort. She had to wait until the effects wore off, until then, she had to direct her rampaging psychokinetic powers else where in fear of hurting neutral creatures lurking in the woods.
Luckily for her, there was a nearby river. Hopefully its deep enough and fast enough so she can only gather water and not the stones and rocks beneath.
As she approached the rivers edge, water began to rise, along with leaves, grass and dirt beneath her feet. It was working, the solid debris which are being hurled as it reached the top of the maelstrom were now being replaced by water. "Ok, so it seems I have to travel by water now." She hovered a few feet above the water, almost looking like a water spirit with water flowing all around her. The vapor and fine drops which fly around create mists that shines in various colors when struck by the sun's rays.
Creatures once running away from the dreadful twister now are enchanted by its beauty and are drawn to it, even the vulcans.

It was three versus one and a half now, as Indar really couldn't count Ilythiran more than half. The beast came when he wanted and not when Indar asked him to. That was what was bad about having a gigantic pet, they never seemed to listen to a word you said. Well anyway, this wasn't the time to think of Ilythiran, but the time to fight some vulcans, who by now were incredibly close to Indar.
When the big one reached him, it slammed it's hand onto Indar's sword, which was still up, though barley. Indar could feel it's power disappearing soon. This meant a need to finish off these Vulcans arose quickly, otherwise he would end up beating on them with a weaker spell, which may be useful. The vulcan just kept banging on the sword, not relieving it's power.
Indar suddenly, in a swift movement, pulled the sword away and sent it straight into the vulcans chest. A crippling scream was heard, but weirdly not from the vulcan Indar had stabbed, but from the small vulcan. Ilythiran had snatched it away as well, guess the beast really was hungry. He hadn't eaten for a few weeks.
This seemingly distracted the bigger vulcan long enough, for Indar to pull out the sword and see that it hadn't dealt the killing blow, instead he had missed absolutely everything. This was a little embarrassing, but as the vulcan turned back, Indar sent another blow into it and a second right after. This finished off the big vulcan, leaving only the medium to deal with.

The nearby creatures marveled at the sight before them. It was enticing them to come closer and closer to the river's edge. Among them were three vulcans, two looked like the brown vulcan she encountered earlier and one which looked like the other two but a little smaller. Perhaps a family unit, the ghost mage thought as she shook her head. In her heart she knew she bear no ill will towards them, but a mission is a mission and she cant stop midway.
As soon as her targets were within striking range, she boosted the speed of the water spinning around her making the tornado grow in size. It still looked beautiful, but it was now lethal.
The once beguiled creatures were no fleeing once again. The vulcans tried to flee as well, but because they had gone near the rivers edge, the muddy ground made it hard for them to avoid the grasp of the ever growing maelstrom. One by one the vulcans got picked off, starting with the smaller one. Aria didnt tried to avert her eyes as the beast was spun around as it was slowly drowned by the surging water.
The other two in their last ditch effort grabbed at anything they can just to prevent themselves from being sucked by the chaotic mass of water. But it was in vain, Aria had changed her direction. The tornado was now speeding towards them.

Indar just stood there, in front of the carcass of the big vulcan, his sword dripping blood, before vanishing to where it came from, taking the blood with it. It was quiet, too quiet in fact. The normal vulcan seemed hesitant to move forward, seemingly scared of having the same fate as the others. But it was decided already, decided by Indar, that this vulcan was going to die and right now.
He charged forward, aiming for the vulcan, before feeling tremors yet again. Ilythiran was coming for the final snack it seemed, though this one wouldn't be so easy. ''Metallic Gods' Pillar.'' Indar's left hand took the shape of a pillar, as he stared into the eyes of the vulcan, causing stress in the creature. Indar's eyes were filled with pure rage and evil, not even a slight drop of mercy was in them. This would be the end of the road for this little vulcan.
As Indar's pillar started to extend at rapid speed towards the vulcan, the ground beneath the beings feet rose up, knocking it towards the pillar. The pillar and the creatures face collided in mid air, causing massive damage. Though what followed up did a lot more. The ground had rose due to Ilythiran, who was now diving onto the vulcan head first. As he landed he took the vulcan down with him, into the depths of the earth.
That was it. Indar had finished this vulcans off, but now something was on his mind. Where was Aria?.
