Personality: Outside of Battle: At the age of 15, Kaede Itsuki’s (meaning Maple Tree) family’s Apothecary was raided by a dark guild, whose name still escapes her. In addition to burning her home and business to the ground, they slaughtered her entire family, slowly, forcing her to watch. She spent a great deal of time in the rubble, desperately trying to retain the knowledge her mother and father were relaying to both her and her sister. Once she learned all she could, she set out to find others who could share similar knowledge of plants and spells. Those who set eyes on Itsuki see a goofy, care free exterior, but inside, she is burdened with a great sorrow and fear that dictate her daily life. Despite her lack of grammar, and extremely inept social skills, she’s smart on her feet and skillful with her magic. She has an overwhelming urge to be helpful and strong, but her rustic nature gives off the impression of an awkward goofball. To those who gain it, Itsuki will be loyal. Her kind and caring spirit make for a compassionate, but stubborn friend. She’s got a big mouth, but knows when important things need not be brought up. While she would enjoy having friends, the vast majority of people she meets just don’t understand her. She is often drawn to those who have issues, because she feels she has a better chance of connecting with them on a personal level. While she keeps a good-natured, level heard the majority of the time, one rude comment (please do not confuse this with sass because Itsuki LOVES sassy people) can send her into oblivion. She detests rude people, and while she can brush off most other social things, rudeness is not one of them. Itsuki will not hesitate to rough up the hecklers, often resulting in fights. After missions (or bar fights) she tends to retreat to the creatures of the woods (no need for manners in there!). When she does socialize with humans, she prefers them to call her Itsuki.
Inside of Battle: All kind and goofy nature take the back seat, and a much more driven, sinister creature comes forth. She prefers not to fight because she is disgusted with aggressive side of herself. The horror of seeing her family slaughtered revisits her in battle, and it is as if she becomes a different person. When in battle, she loses all concept of compassion and mercy, becoming a ruthless destroyer who will stop at nothing to eradicate the threat. Itsuki will fight until whatever she is protecting is safe, only giving up is she is dead. As a leader, she’s a mess. Her poor social skills make it difficult for her to direct with confidence, often stuttering and not audibly finishing ideas or observations. On the flip side, she takes direction well… that is, until the actual combat begins. Then, she is a loose cannon. For these reasons, she hasn’t joined a guild. While she would like to create meaningful relationships, they are often sabotaged by her inability to follow plans, resulting in abandonment by others.

1. Nature
• Trees, grass, large scary creatures that would rip most other living things apart, flowers, mountains, you know, the little things. Itsuki feels more at home in the mountains or woods than she does in cities. She prefers makeshift tree houses or bramble huts to indoors.
2. Missions
• Itsuki is very restless and becomes depressed if she stays in one place too long. She’s a sucker for rare potions and enjoys collecting obscure herbs and plants. These things cost money (paying off the old lady who knows where the good sorrel patch is, or bribing the driver to go a bit further up the treacherous, mud laden mountain) and missions are the only plausible way she can see to fund that.
3. Dandelion Wine
• Itsuki deals with a great deal of social anxiety, despite her carefree exterior. Dandelion wine is her favorite way to relax, and is also a direct line to her heart. Whether it be a bribe, a gift, or payment for missions, there’s very little she loves more than a bottle of the golden stuff.

1. Conflict
• If she can avoid a fight, she will. Itsuki tires easily, and doesn’t enjoy wasting her energy for nothing. She prefers laughter and peace, to blood covered destruction.
2. Rudeness
• If there’s anything she hates more than conflict, its rude people. While she maintains a level head most of the time, her downfall is the rage that ensues when strangers are rude or disrespectful.
3. Cities
• Itsuki doesn’t handle crowded cities well. Ever. She only visits to find work, items, or to fulfill missions. She becomes nervous, awkward, and claustrophobic at times, burdening her.
Motivations:
1. Community
• Since the traumatic loss of her entire clan, Itsuki’s true desire has been to rebuild a “family” for herself. Everyone she encounters has the potential to become part of her makeshift clan, and to them, she owes her undying loyalty.
2. Strength
• Missions build skill and character. Both of these things make up a strong warrior, and strength to protect and move forward in life are all Itsuki wants for herself.
3. Justice
• Itsuki’s relationship with the natural world gives her a strong sense of justice for those who can’t protect themselves. She hates senseless violence, and abuse, which often leads to brutal resistance on her end.
Fears:
1. Rejection
• It’s difficult for Itsuki to ask for help. So, when she does, the risk of rejection seems the worst possible outcome to asking
2. Losing
• Her greatest fear is losing those close to her. The pain of losing her family instilled a strong need to be the best at skilful things. So when she loses fights, or people, it shatters her.
3. Being Trapped
• Itsuki will go to great lengths to understand her surroundings. Escape routes provide the most efficient way of escape, and escape is an efficient way of living.
General Appearance Itsuki has a very recognizable, non-conspicuous body type. She towers over most people at 6’5”, and looks almost ghostly due to her extremely thing frame. She is a practical woman. She dresses for her environment, and employs the use of earth tone gear. Equipped with a long, brown woolen skirt, mossy green calf length dress, and beige woolen cloak, she looks to be a bit of an oddity. She often pulls her tri-toned shawl over her hair when in cities, feeling uncomfortable from the stares she receives. Her body runs much colder than others, and it is not uncommon to see her decked out in layers all year round. Her feet are ALWAYS free of encasement, feeling more at peace with her toes in the dirt. Her long hair is often braided back, as not to get tangled with her environment.
