Take Care Of My Baby

The doorbell rang yet again. Luna pressed on the bell for the third time, patiently freezing herself in front of her client’s apparent house. A clank could be heard moments before the door opened slightly, providing Luna a gap to talk with the house’s owner, whose face was still could not be recognized by that time.

“Who is it?” The voice of a woman in her 30s could be heard.

“Good Evening, Ma’am. I am Luna, Luna Cresselia.” As she spoke, Luna waved the flyer in front of the gap, to which the woman could understand.

The door closed shut moments before it was reopened, this time wide enough for a person to enter. There was a woman, nicely dressed in a blue dress standing in front of the door to greet her. Her client had nice emerald eyes that matched her brunette colored hair. She looked ready for a function, obviously. “Katy, right?” The woman nodded, much to Luna’s delight.

“Nice, I’ve found the right house.” “Oh, aren’t you the beautiful one? Come in, young lady.”

Polite, Luna slowly took her steps into the house, making sure her entrance did not leave anything that might put the woman unease, which could have involved both first impression and mess.

“I’m so glad somebody actually signed up for our request. Thank you!”

There was very little time for chat; the Rendall couple was ready to go to a party by the time Luna arrived. It was supposed to be a ball or some kind. Luna could not care less; it was her client’s rights of where and when he or she would want to go. All she needed to mind was how to complete her client’s requests without messing things up. Katy immediately brought the lady to the baby’s room after asking a few questions to break the ice. It was located on the lowest floor of the house, much to Luna’s delight. This could mean less trouble for her to go all the way around the house or up the stairs or down the basement to take care of a baby, which was described as his own mother as an inhumane son of hers.

“Well, I already put him to sleep earlier to help you with the babysitting. Now that I put things simpler for you, do you know what do you need to do?” There was apparently a change in task; Luna was by then required to keep the baby asleep at all costs, rather than having to put it to sleep first before taking a very good care of the baby. Luna nodded, understanding what she needed to do.

The couple bid farewell to the sleeping baby and wished good luck to the female mage before leaving for the other town where the party would be held.

2 hours passed. The sound of a horse carriage arriving and leaving the house could be heard. The Rendall couple was back from their party. Luna walked to the doors to greet them. “They must be drunk and all.. if not drunk, in a mess.” Opening the door, Luna was quite shocked to find her assumptions had swayed. They looked just like how they was before leaving the house; arranged, nice, clean.

“Did you go to a party.. or did you go to the dry cleaning shop?” The couple laughed at her question, taking it as a joke due to their appearance. They still looked neat, and were both sober. “Well, I guess there’s different people around the world.” Luna summed, shrugging.

Katy went to the baby’s room, Luna followed. As for Mr. Rendall, Luna guessed he was too tired for any more tasks that night, simply planning on getting on bed early.

“Oh look, you did it, dear..” Katy looked at the baby, congratulating Luna for making her way through the task and had kept the little baby asleep since his parents left earlier. “So.. did he woke up at all?” Luna shook her head, denying. She had a satisfied smile on her face, the apparent victory was filling for her.

Katy left the room to get Luna’s rewards, and the maiden now turned to the parrot. Chuckling, Luna got rid of the tape that was keeping the parrot’s beaks shut. She would then give the parrot a cookie like she told it earlier, to which the annoyed parrot replied with a squawk. Fortunately, that angry squawk did not wake the baby. Luna bid farewell to both the baby and the parrot, leaving the room shortly after.

“Here, take this extra as a token of appreciation.” “Ah.. now I’m embarrassed.. I mean, I only did like, 1 quarter of the work.. and yet..” Katy shook her head. “You know, even when he sleeps, most babysitter would look so scared and very vigilant when we get back home. But you, well, I guess I could reward you for making through it without having any major problems.” Luna nodded her head, taking the reward and the bonus together.

“Thank you so much, Ma’am.” Katy smiled, patting the lady by the shoulders. “Maybe next time when we need more babysitting services, we’ll turn to you.” Luna smiled sweetly in response, bidding her farewell to her client before leaving.
