Performing for the Kiddies- Solo- Mission- Private

Mission:

Ryo smiled widely as he walked to the hospital in Magnolia Town. Despite the horrific undertone of the mission he had at hand today he couldn’t deny that this was his most fun job. He was to entertain children for an entire afternoon. The sad horrific part was that these children were all in the hospital most of them wouldn’t ever leave it, but the ones that would were truly the lucky ones in the world.

As he arrived at the hospital he walked inside and spoke to the nurse behind the desk at the front door “Hello ma’am I am here as the magic show for the children’s ward. I hope I’m on time.” The woman smiled as wide as anything Ryo’s ever seen before “Oh of course you are. Thank you ever so much for this. We will leave you to perform how you will just make sure your tricks are friendly.”

Ryo thought about it for a minute and then he nodded his head slightly with a smile he pulled out a green card handing it to the woman “Could I have you do me a favor and place this card in the center of the room where I can perform. Trust me you will want to see this trick as well.” The woman smiled and nodded her head “Sure. I can do that. Follow me then and you can go ahead and get started.” As they walked to the children’s ward Ryo was sure he was perfectly ready to perform his tricks.

He could perform over dozens of card tricks and it was perfectly acceptable for his magic to adapt and allow him to perform these kinds of spells without any hassle. So now he simply waited outside while the nurse ‘accidently’ dropped his green card in the center of the room.

The woman looked to all of the children who were sitting up in bed doing various things and she spoke “Well kids today we have a brand new magician coming here. All the way from Sabertooth Mage Guild is Ryo. Give him a big round of applause.” Ryo smirked as he pulled up the other green card and pressed it against his forehead before he winked. This trick would be something to watch.

In an instant his body shattered into cards and these cards flew into the room much to all of the kids’ great surprise and when it hit the green card in the room the cards stopped and began to reform until they were the Sabertooth Combo Card mage. He smiled and gave a deep bow taking his hat off in the process “Well good afternoon everyone. Your lovely nurse here has told me you kids want to see magic so I’m here to show it to you.”

The children erupted with applause and Ryo was very confident in his ability. He looked to the nurse and smiled “Give these lucky children a pencil. I don’t care what kind of pencil, just make sure it is made of wood, and everyone gets one. I promise you will want them to have one.” While the nurse was helping him by doing this he pulled out eight cards from his element deck making sure he had one of each of the element cards in his deck.

When all of the kids had a pencil he realized he had a lot more kids than he thought. Still he pulled up the first card smiling “Now kids I promise you will like this next part, but hold those pencils as far out as you can when I point at you okay?” he looked around and all of the kids nodded their heads. Ryo smiled and nodded his own “then let’s begin.”

He pulled up all the cards he possibly could and smiled “Alright then you there.” He pointed to one of the kids and that kid held his pencil out as far from him as he could. Ryo smiled and picked one of his cards. The card was a water element card and he threw this card at the pencil. As it flew the card became coated in water and as it hit the pencil the water was sent flying, but the card landed in the kids’ lap.

Ryo smiled and nodded as he pointed to another kid who did the same as the first one. Ryo repeated this, but this time the card became like metal and when it hit the pencil the pencil broke, but the card landed in that kid’s lap. Ryo smiled as he looked at another kid and pulled up his playing card deck. He began to play 52 card pick up, but one of his cards was impaled on the pencil.

The boy’s eyes lit up as he held the pencil in his hand. Ryo smiled and looked back at two other kids pointing to both of them. They both held their pencils out and Ryo threw two element cards at the same time, one became like earth and the other like lightning. It wasn’t long before those kids also had cards in their laps. When Ryo had finished with this display he smiled and put his hands to his sides “Now those cards all belong to you guys. For those of you who don’t have cards I want you to raise your hands.”

Six other kids raise their hands and Ryo walked over to them. The first one he pulled up an element card and smiled “Tell the kids what you feel.” The kid reached out and touched the card hesitantly “it feels like a normal playing card.” Ryo smirked as the card caught fire.

He then looked at the kid with his smirk “Now I want you to touch this card again.” The boy looked afraid but Ryo smiled as he held his hand in the flames of the card “Don’t worry. It won’t hurt you at all.” The boy hesitantly put his finger near the fire and true to his word the flames didn’t hurt the boy and he smiled even wider as he started to play with the fire in between his fingers.

Ryo laughed as he dropped the card and instantly the flames extinguished, but the boy couldn’t even understand what had just happened. He held up the card as if it was magical and in truth the card was magical. Ryo then went to everyone else who had their hands up and repeated this little trick with a different element each time. The kids were amazed by this simple magic trick that was just real magic in action.

Once he had finished this little parlor trick he decided that it was time for another one, but he couldn’t figure out what spell he should use next. He smiled and then pulled up four cards whispering “Attack Combo: Flame Sword, Defense Combo: Flame Shield.” The cards formed into a flaming shield and then a flaming sword. Ryo stood there looking like an old fashioned knight. He swung the sword and shield a little bit, and all of the kids watched him with great anticipation written on all of their faces. After a few moments the weapons vanished and Ryo gave a dramatic bow.

All of the kids and even the nurse clapped and cheered with how impressed they were with Ryo’s ability. Ryo was starting to run out of ideas of what he could do, so he decided to go back to regular slight of hand, with his own little twist of course.

He looked to the nurse and smiled “Madam. If you could give me a hand. I would appreciate it.” The nurse walked over looking very confused, but Ryo simply smiled “Don’t worry come on.” She walked over to him and he smiled “Pick a card from the deck, show it to the kids, but not me, then hold onto it.”

The nurse did as she was told showing her card to everyone. Ryo smirked and pulled up his deck of playing cards without another word. He then began to throw them onto the floor as fast as he could. The image was amazingly accurate, and the more cards Ryo used the clearer the image became. After a short amount of time he stopped and looked at the image “Your card is the two of diamonds.” The image on the floor was a two that was made of all the cards, but the only cards that were facing up were diamonds.

All of the kids were dumbfounded once more, but they began to clap and cheer once more. Ryo smiled and bowed before he leaned in towards the nurse and whispered “Take this green card and set it out in the hall a bit passed the doors so I can make my exit.” She nodded and did as she was told. In the meantime Ryo performed a few more tricks to simply distract the kids from the fact that the nurse was now no longer in the room.

He continued for another hour before the nurse cleared her throat ever so slightly. Ryo looked back to her and nodded “Alright children. I’m Afraid I must go, but I promise to come back and perform for you all again. In the meantime be good and do as your told.” He pulled out his green card pressing it to his forehead and winked. As he did so his spell blink to effect and he became a flurry of cards that shot out of the door. As he arrived in the hallway the nurse smiled “thank you so much. It meant so much to those children.” Ryo smiled and shook his head “I was only doing what anyone should’ve. Thank you for giving me this chance. Take care of them. They are good kids.” With that he picked up his card and left the hospital his good deed done.
