    In my short time as a mod I noticed two things.

    First: mods are instructed to grade by the same criteria

    Second: No criteria is given aside from the super vague "No OP hackz" found in the rules.

    I would like to suggest that an app checking rubric be made for every form of application. Something that is publicly accessible and that every mod and member will be able to see. This would ensure that no magics are graded unfairly.

    Rubrics should include:
    -How strong is strong for each rank
    -How fast is fast for each rank
    -How big is big for each rank
    -What is a long duration
    -What is a short cooldown
    -What is "long range" for each rank
    -What is "short range" for each rank
    -What constitutes a good strength
    -What makes a balancing weakness
    -What simply cannot be done
    -What simply must be done


    Hopefully with such a rubric in place players will be able to self-check their own apps a bit so that by the time a mod gets to them much less is required to be changed and it is all easier on everyone.

    Making the rubric satisfactory and reasonable might prove a bit of a task, but so is everything else worth having.

    This will prevent:
    D-Ranks toppling buildings while A-Ranks can't topple a hot dog stand
    D-ranks moving at light speed where S-Ranks are stuck at sub-sonic speeds
    S-Ranks punching holes in reality where H-Ranks can only kick holes in reality?

    Last note: The rubric doesn't have to be limiting, it just has to be a guideline. If the admins see fit they can make it so that all D-Ranks can rolfstomp Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta as long as all D-Ranks can do it and all other ranks are appropriately more powerful.

    Normally when I grade apps if I see a buff or healing spell or even a customizable AOE I ask for these. This is something that every moderator and admin should do when grading apps.

    Kira you're on development please put your rubric in place in the dev corner and I will see what we can do to apply this.

    This I would've loved to have when I was moderating on the forum. I felt so lost because there was no guidelines. At other RP sites the first few or even first day I was given a list of what I should do as a moderator, how apps are graded, What will happen in case a good chunk of staff can't be online, etc. 
    There has been times when I stated to an admin or someone on the staff that I did feel lost...and though they did help me plus clarify things I feel like it would've been helpful to have it written down somewhere. Just in case if someone else becomes a staff member and ends up being lost every now and then.

    I'm basically going to back Kyll up on this. This should definitely be brought down more in development than here. I agree mainly with a few reservations (also short distance is pretty much considered the same for all ranks. You might be talking about medium range instead)
    Looking forwards to seeing this idea developed in development.

    So here's my attempt to contribute... after all, I'm not a mod or even a developer. However I have opened up majority of all the the approved weapons and here's what I basically got. (And if I may... some of the apps before the template change? OMG, NEED MUCH CHANGE.)


    Weight-Length (ft/lbs)
    Swords
    - 0ft-1ft (Long) - Extremely lightweight
    - 1ft-2ft - 5-12lbs
    - 3ft-4ft - 13-30lbs
    - 5ft- - 31lbs+
    NOTE:
    = Lighter than noted severely decreases the power of the blade.
    = Heavier than noted provides more momentum when swung

    Staff Based Weapons
    - 0ft-1ft (Long) - Extremely lightweight
    - 1ft-2ft - 2-5lbs
    - 3ft-4ft - 5-16lbs
    - 5ft- - 17lbs+
    NOTE: Does not include tip (Spearpoint, edge, hammer... etc)
    = Lighter than noted makes the staff extreamly breakable
    = Heavier than noted provides more strength to the overall weapon

    As far as abilities, there isn't much that people have. Most abilities follow spell format, so that should be the template used. And for weak weapons any ability is met with a weakness of equal value and/or more. (EX: Sword of Slayers, [Attack bonus] or Chameleon Sword [Disguise Bonus])

    To be honest, I actually created a lot of weapons to see if there really was a guideline that mods/admins used. To my surprise there was some consistency. However the weapon guidelines (In my opinion) should be easier to pass, since most users focus on their spells for battle anyway. And those that use weapons, well 75% of them are ReEquip mages.

    Of course, these are with your basic weapons, anything like Aedre's Chains will have to be up to the grader, it's hard to make a guildline for truly unique weapons.
