    Spoiler:

Aegiel selected the dirtiest, smelliest, most colorful notice he could find. He was curious as to what kind of jobs they warranted, since he usually picked the neater, more "professional" ones. What he found did not disappoint. "Seven hundred and fifty jewels just to watch over a couple of kids? No problem," he said, tucking the flyer into his jacket pocket. Now all he had to do was meet this Alice, take the kids to an amusement park, and collect his rent money. He walked out with a skip in his step, oblivious to the incredulous stares and muttered whispers behind his back. "How long do you think he'll last?" "Aegiel? Meh, ten bucks says he lasts an hour. He looks tough enough to me." The two whispering mages stared at each other, then broke into guffaws, tears streaming down their faces.

Agiel sneezed as he paid the conductor for his ticket to Peace Town. He gave a proud little smile, "Someone's complimenting me again!" Then he hopped on the train, ready for whatever hell was awaiting him.

"Aeji! Aeji, let's go on that one!" Zack gave Aegiel a cheeky grin as he sprinted off to go on yet another barf-inducing spinny-coaster. Aegiel fought the urge to snarl at the kid to slow down, instead breaking into a jog and quietly shadowing the boy to the newest ride. Chris was already right on Zack's heels, never more than a few steps behind his more outspoken brother. Zack glanced over his shoulder at the quiet mage, frowning. Aegiel snickered. The look on that little troublemaker's face made it all worth it. He remembered the fuss the kid had made when his mother had told the twins that Aegiel was going to take them to an amusement park.

That was when he first got a glimpse of what to expect from the Terrible Twins. Aegiel shuddered and looked up at the ride that Zack had been so keen to go on.

The twins were gone. Aegiel looked left, then right, cursing under his breath. "Those little-" They had split up. Again. As Aegiel sprinted after them, he wondered what monstrous creatures had decided to possess the cute kids' tiny bodies. Surely, they were the worst sort of evil.

Aegiel had finally caught them both and was gripping each of their wrists with no intention of letting them go for the rest of the evening. "Let GO!" Zack shouted, finally dropping the "I'm a cute little boy" act. Magic circles began to appear under his feet as he prepared to make a dash for it, but Aegiel had other ideas. The fed-up Fatewalker figured it was about time he showed these.... punks what separated a normal babysitter from a full-fledged wizard-sitter.

A malicious sneer stole across Zack's face. His legs bent, and he lunged away from Aegiel with all the speed....of a ten-year old boy. Shocked, he stared at his magic-less feet, then up at the frowning mage. Chris, ever the perceptive child, pointed to his brother's wrist that was currently in Aegiel's possession. A glowing band shining a bright gold hung there, sealing away Zack's magic and keeping him from making a break for it. The kid whined for what seemed an eternity, but finally acceptd that Aegiel had gotten the better of him. They walked, hand-in-hand, to the next ride, and Aegiel, at least, was content.

For whatever reason, Aegiel had thought that since Zack couldn't use magic to help him speed his escape, he would behave. He was sadly mistaken.

"Zack! Chris! Coooome baaaack!" He probably looked like a lunatic waving his hands and jumping around like he was, but he didn't want to lose them. That rent money's mine, was the only thought in Aegiel's head as he sprinted after the slippery twins, doing his best not to slam into anyone.

Binding Zack's magic was a mistake. Not only could Chris still make a break for it (which had taken Aegiel completely by surprise), but now Aegiel couldn't use his own magic for as long as the spell lasted. Just how the twins had figured that out so fast, he had no idea. The demon-possessed children practically squealed with joy as they skipped around and through the surging crowds. Aegiel gasped for breathe. And like a bolt of belated lightning, inspiration struck.

    He had Meep.

Chris smiled up at his brother. They had finally lost their annoying sitter. As he followed Zack's lead further and further into the park, his chest constricted just the tiniest bit. Just like his father, and every other sitter the twins had ever had, Aegiel was going to leave them. He was going to quit, and say he "couldn't handle it anymore". Chris knew. And as happy as his brother looked, he knew Zack was thinking the same thing. Zack always put on a tough-guy act in front of Chris so that he wouldn't have to be sad, but Chris could tell. Suddenly they stopped. Zack turned around and gave his brother a sad little smile. "We lost him. C'mon Chris, let's catch a wagon home." Chris sighed, glancing once more over his shoulder. Then he screamed.

"AHHHHHH!" Aegiel smiled. So Meep's finally caught up, huh? He imagined the tiny viper hissing up at the terrified twins. Aegiel casually walked over in the direction of the screams, relieved that his rent money hadn't flown out the window. And if he was glad that the twins were safe, then there was absolutely no way he was going to admit it. Not for all the jewels in Fiore.

Alice was ecstatic to have her "little darlings" home safe and sound. Tears of joy practically rolled down her checks as Aegiel lied through his teeth, telling her what "perfect little angels" the twins had been during their short trip to the amusement park! an that he was certainly willing to sit again. If she had the money for it, of course.

Aegiel was relatively sure the twins were no longer going to be much of a problem. After their confrontation with Meep, they stuck to Aegiel's side like glue, eyes darting this way and that for the tiny viper that was comfortably resting in Aegiel's shirt, inches away from their Terrible Twin's heads. They even thanked him when he returned them to their mansion, which took the Fatewalker by surprise. He grinned at the memory, and resolved to come back and visit. Just to make sure the crafty duo weren't making too much trouble for their poor mother. He waved to them as he walked back to the safety of Lamia Scale, and three sets of hands waved back.
