Job Requirements: Retrieve the huge crate of stolen Lacrima from the Desert Thieves Cartel HQ. 3 wizards maximum are allowed on this Mission / Job.

Job Location: Forgotten Desert

Job Description: A gigantic shipment of Lacrima that was supposed to reach Era days ago has been stolen by an organization calling themselves. "The Cartel", your client was one of the victims of this assault and describes them as brutal warriors, with both skill and determination. They do not quit, and will chase you if you flee. They will let you live, if you give them what they want. Otherwise, they are completely ruthless. They beset them on their journey through a nearby area, and retreated into the Desert upon accomplishing their goal. You set out from whichever town you accept this mission from and head there immediately. They wear white turbans that cover their head and mouths completely, are draped in all black desert robes, with white boots; which are quite dusty no doubt. The Cartel's HQ is built inside of the old ruins of a once great city; you can spot the ruins of the ancient city from a mile off, and see the white and black turban outfits of the Cartel from a distance. Although they may spot you as well at this distance.

Enemies:
Weak: Cartel Recruits (These guys are quite simple too deal with, and wield anything from a longsword, a scimitar, too a sword and shield. However they are inexperienced and not used too being in the desert as they're green too the Cartel. They go down in two hits of C-Ranked damage at the most, maybe even one. If you intimidate them well enough; they may just choose too re-think their decision too join the Cartel and flee from the desert base.

Normal: Cartel Swordsman x10 (These guys are skilled. They wield scimitars and great hammers. They're very nimble, and strike, move, and circle their opponents during the course of the fight through excellent footwork and quick attacks. They use smoke Lacrima and will attempt too use them a few times if they aren't taken out quickly. If hit with a smoke Lacrima you won't be able too see their next attack coming. Takes 3 hits of C-Ranked damage too take each one down. They sword slashes and great hammer strikes do C-Ranked damage.)

Strong: Cartel Wizards x5 (Now you're in trouble. The Cartel's Wizards are no joke. They use both Fire and Wind magic with incredible levels of skill. They will attempt too whim up dust storms, and shred you with wind as well. They are also quick too cast AOE fire spells that can turn the sand too glass in an instant; throwing it around through the air too slice. They wield steel bo-staff with black and white feathers tied too the top of them. Just because they're wizards doesn't mean they won't fight you in melee. They are in the Cartel after all. They wield their bo-staffs with all the skill of one who practices each day. Their Wind and Fire spells range from D-Ranked, to C-Ranked, to B-Ranked for the AOE fire spell. Takes 5 hits of C-Ranked damage too take each one down.)

Boss: The King of Theives (This individual...is deserving of the title. He wears the standard white turban of the Cartel, with their usual black robes and white boots. However he is draped in gold and jewelry. He himself is a wizard. His scimitars are made of an unknown alloy, and have golden runic writing etched through them. He uses Telekinesis too throw his scimitars through the air, whirling them and controlling them as they fly around and strike you like buzzsaws. He also can use his telekinesis too leap vast distances and may simply hit you with a wave of force too send you flying. He is one of the most skilled swordsman you've seen, and has will of one befitting his title. He takes 15 hits of C-Ranked damage too take down. His telekenisis waves do B-Ranked damage and his scimitar slashes do C-Ranked slashes. He rolls 4 attacks / telekinesis waves each round. Good luck, because he is NOT going to let some young wizard(s) take the gigantic room sized crate of Lacrima back too Era...not at all.)

(Note: You may persuade him too give you the Lacrima, if you're willing too part with 100k Jewels on the spot, if not, he's likely attacking you immediately if you're not an interested buyer. Since you've discovered the location of the Cartel's HQ.)

Reward: 7000 Jewels

Ryo looked up at the blazing sun with great hatred. He hated the intense heat, but he was going to have to get over it as he had a job to do. He had been hired to deal with a group of thieves. They had stolen a huge crate of Lacrima and the owner wanted it returned to them. This mission promised to be dangerous, but Ryo wasn’t worried about that kind of thing he had to make these thieves pay for their foolishness. Not only that but he had heard some of them were wizards, and that was something that Ryo couldn’t abide.

He looked at his new wardrobe however with a smile. His hat was a sand color along with his coat and most of his wardrobe. It was light enough to breathe easily, it managed to keep him cool, and the colors allowed for him to camouflage much easier with the surrounding desert. This was crucial for him as he was vastly outnumbered in this mission. He wasn’t about to give them any of a bigger advantage than sheer numbers. He continued to make his way into the desert and keep his eyes out for the base of the bandits.

Ryo really didn’t travel for much more than half a day before he spotted the ruins of an ancient city. This was the location that was told to Ryo as the bandit’s hideaway. Ryo knew that this was the place he had to go to in order to find them, and the lacrima they stole. The ruins looked slightly out of place among the rolling desert. He really couldn’t believe that these things were still standing after so many years being battered by the elements. As he continued to get closer he could start to spy why the thieves were using it as a hideout.

The ruins had several spots that the thieves could just stand on, and look out to see the entire desert without any hindrance. Ryo shook his head in distaste he wouldn’t have stealth on this mission even if he could somehow turn invisible. Still he had a job to do and he would do it regardless of what happened. It took him almost a half hour to reach the ruins. As he walked into them however he kept his footsteps as light as he possibly could be. He didn’t want to be caught. As he rounded the corner he saw three of the bandits just standing there.

'Monster Dice' :

Ryo swore softly as two of the bandits had the look of a wizard about them. One of them was speaking to the middle one who looked like an everyday thug “If you want to make it as part of this crew of thieves you’ll need to learn magic, or better yourself with that blade of yours. As of right now you’re pretty pathetic.” Ryo looked at his hand and nodded. He needed more cards, so he quickly stuffed two of them into his pocket before pulling up a three more cards. He was going to use a spell to get the drop on them.

He leaned around and threw the cards “Burning Cards.” He whispered as he sent the cards flying. They were slow traveling thankfully. Once more /he reached into his playing cards and drew up two more playing cards. These he threw in partnership with the cards before it “Projectile Cards” he whispered. As the burning cards hit all three of the targets he was aiming for. They all turned to see who attacked them. The two wizards didn’t seem very bothered by the spell, but they were stronger than the bandit. However as the projectile cards arrived they were all struck once more several times. The bandit in the middle fell as he was struck with three of the wind element cards. The rest struck the two wizards with only one missing altogether.

The wizards smiled as they saw Ryo “ah. Well that’s a fine strategy you had there boy. However you didn’t catch us by surprise for long. Also you are terribly miss-informed as to what magic is best suited to beat us.” Ryo smirked and drew more cards to fill out his hand. He couldn’t help but enjoy the fact that his magic was so easy to use. The other mage smirked “Time to Fry!” he summoned up a fireball and sent it flying towards Ryo. Ryo was quick to pull up his white cards “Defense Combo: Fire Absorb.” As he held the cards in front of him the fireball was sucked into the cards, and a soft red glow filled Ryo.

Ryo smiled as he felt the magic that was put into the spell flood into him, and that was his plan the entire time. He smirked as he threw his two playing cards at the wizards each one being struck once. Granted he had already struck them with several attacks, but he knew that he needed to hit them with much more. He pulled up his black card and an element card waiting for the opportune moment to strike with his next attack.

Defense Combo Begin, 1/ 4 Burning, 1/ 5 Projectile, 85/100% mana remaining (Due to Mana Absorb from defense combo)

Ryo didn’t have very long to wait as he cast his next spell “Attack Combo: Arc Lightning!” from the cards shot a bolt of lightning that began to arc and twist as it soared towards the two wizards. As it struck one it jumped and struck the other one with the same force. Ryo took this opportunity to pull up another playing card from his deck and hold the black melee card in his hand. He smirked as it changed into an enhancement card. He was ready for his next spell, but the wizards were as well. They both sent two more fire balls flying towards him.

Ryo leapt away tucking and rolling out of the path of the fireballs. As he landed he knelt and waved the cards in front of him “Lightning Strike!” from the spell circle four bolts of lightning emerged. Ryo thought hard and had two of them attack the same. This meant that each wizard was struck by a pair of lightning bolts. They flew fast, and the wizards weren’t able to predict where they would strike as they moved in a wave pattern. After a few seconds both wizards were struck by the bolts of lightning and this sealed their fate. They had already taken damage from the burning cards, and the projectile cards, not to mention now they had both been struck with three bolts of lightning.

Ryo scoffed as he felt his hat fill him with some of its power. He looked down at the now dead thieves with a smirk “Pathetic. All of you thought you could defeat me? I’m the Sabertooth Guild’s King of Cards.” With that he kept walking deeper into the ruined city. He couldn’t help but admire all of the great architecture, and the fact that despite the harshness of the desert the ruins were for the most part fully intact. This proved to be a double edged sword for him. He didn’t know the lay of the land and as such he was at a significant disadvantage.

He had to do his best in order to keep his attention on everything but what was immediately in front of him. He couldn’t be at his best if all he chose to ignore the hunting instincts he held. After a moment he smiled and looked back to see his now ever present partner. The growing dire wolf Gora. He now appeared to be the height, and size of an Alaskan Malamute, but Ryo knew that he was going to grow exponentially in size. He looked to his wolf with a soft smile “Time to do some tracking boy.”

Gora began to sniff around trying to locate a scent similar to the ones that Ryo had just killed. He eventually found a scent that was similar to the ones of the people that Ryo had just killed. He began to follow after it sniffing and snorting as he kept tracking the scent deeper into the ruins. Ryo followed after him, but instead of watching Gora he was watching everywhere else. He wasn’t going to allow himself to be caught off guard by anything or anyone. The pair of them continued to walk deeper into the ruins. Gora lead them into a building that was empty now aside from newer furniture.

The room wasn’t nearly as dusty and dirty as the rest of the ruins so it was clear that someone had used this location recently. This was probably a similar situation to most of ruined buildings and homes around here. It was how they kept hidden, and it was how they kept alive in this harsh desert. He looked to Gora and gently pet his partner’s head “Let’s get out of here Gora and keep looking around.” Gora licked Ryo’s hand and the two of them walked out of the door, but they were greeted by an unsettling sight.

As Ryo and Gora emerged and saw what was waiting for them Ryo instantly wished that they were anywhere else. There before them was a cartel wizard, along with three swordsmen. The Wizard was the one who was in charge “Let me teach you ignorant peons something. Magic is the only true weapon in this world. You three sit down and watch as I destroy this wizard.” Ryo looked over to Gora with a soft smile “Gora sit down and watch Papa as he fights and shows this wizard that he is truly the strongest between the two of them.”

Gora gave a bark of approval and he simply sat down in the doorway of the house they had just come out of. Ryo drew his cards and made his way a few paces closer to the four henchmen. He smirked as he pulled up two cards “Now then my friend. Tell me how do you want this duel to commence?” The mage rolled his eyes “Duel. So annoying. Pretentious guild mage.” He wove a weird pattern in the air and shot a large fireball from his hand. As it flew towards Ryo he smirked and threw two of his cards forward “Defense Combo: Fire Cancel!” As his cards hit the flaming sphere it vanished into thin air making the spell null and void.

The cartel mage was surprised to say the least, but Ryo wasn’t about to give him a chance to recover. Instead he continued on with his spells pulling up two more playing cards. He quickly threw down two cards in front of him “Prayer Fountain!” with the spell chanted and cast the time to use the spell came. He threw down the four playing cards in his hand and shot four columns of high powered water at the four lackeys.  The mage took the brunt of two of them saving one of his sword wielding comrades from the attack, but the other two felt the brunt of the remaining water jets.

Gora was forced to move out of the doorway and behind Ryo in order to avoid getting wet from the attack. Gora while not scared of the water by any means just didn’t like to be wet. So he made sure to stay out of his owner’s way for this particular spell. Ryo watched as the cartel soldiers started to pick themselves up from the attack. Never one to miss an opportunity Ryo refilled his hand and waited for the next attack. He didn’t have long to wait however as a giant pillar of flames came surging towards him and Gora.

Ryo swore as he looked behind him and saw that Gora was still behind him. Ryo wasn’t about to let his partner take the hit. He pulled his coat off and held it in front of him before the flames bathed him. His self-sacrifice was enough to protect Gora from the attack. He swore as he whipped his coat back on him holding up a pair of cards “Attack combo: Water Cannon!” from the cards shot a huge stream of water and it struck the fire mage square in the chest. As it knocked the mage back several paces Ryo took a cool minute to take a breath and try to relax.

He really wasn’t able to do much else at this point. He suddenly smirked and nodded his head. Using one of his hands he held up a single one of his uses card and thought hard about it. The card changed and he smirked nodding his head once again “Right. Drew the right card.” He quickly filled his hand with playing cards and then swiped them all through the air “Lightning Strike!” from the spell circle in front of him emerged four lightning bolts. Ryo smirked as the four of them surged forward striking different targets.

Two of the bolts struck the mage in front of him. The other two bolts found the wet targets that had been struck by the water attack. With the extra water on them the bolts were extra effective and Ryo smirked. This effect happened on the fire mage as well. This proved to be the best effect. Ryo knew that the mage and his friends would be paralyzed. He didn’t want to give them much of a chance to recover so he quickly drew cards until his hand was full once more. This time however he filled his hand with element cards and playing cards.

He was running out of options, but he really didn’t mind all of that. He threw two of the three fire element cards at one of the paralyzed wizards. The rest of the element cards and playing cards he threw and smashed against the fire mage in front of him. These playing cards were more than enough to do some good damage to the mage. He sighed heavily as he tried to come up with a plan to beat these mages. He was distracted by the fact that one of the swordsmen charged at him.

Ryo was caught off guard as the undamaged swordsman charged at him. He really wasn’t able to use very many spells anymore. He needed to draw cards, but he was truly too slow. As the swordsman lifted his blade a sudden flash of fur passed Ryo’s sight and hit the cartel member. Gora sank his fangs into the swordsman’s arms holding and not letting go of it for an instant. His big sharp claws began to tear and scratch at the cartel member’s face and chest as much as he can. Ryo swore and whistled sharply. The moment he did Gora used his claws to push away from the swordsman.

This gave Ryo the chance he really needed. He threw his cards as fast as he could. Two of the cards were fire elements the third element card was lightning. Along with two playing cards all of them hitting the swordsman was strong enough to knock him down for the count. Ryo smiled at Gora nodding his head in approval “Good boy. You’re very good at your job. Now sit down and let me finish up with this mage over here.” He turned to face the fire mage as he slowly came around from his stasis.

The mage rolled his eyes as he looked around at the swordsmen “What a bunch of idiots. I told them that they would just get in my way.” Ryo frowned deeply growling low in his throat “You treat your friends like that…they are your partners…they are part of your family…your pack…YOU TRAITOR!!!” He whipped up the next two cards without really looking at them “Attack combo: Lightning Bolt!” from the card shot a bolt of lightning the fire mage wasn’t deterred instead he cast a fire ball spell sending it to meet head first against the bolt of lightning. Thankfully Ryo’s spell was the stronger and it continued to sail until striking the mage.

He wasn’t finished as he drew two element cards to replace the cards he just used. With them he threw four element cards and two playing cards all at the mage. The playing cards went wide of the mark along with one of the element cards, but the lightning, metal, and water cards all found their mark. As they struck the wizard he fell to the ground. Ryo wasn’t about to let it go. He rushed over to the man and began to punch him in the stomach “You disgusting, slimy, rat!!! I’m gonna kill you!”

As Ryo continued to pound away blow after blow into the man’s chest almost denting it in. After the fifth blow Ryo felt something grasp his arm. He whipped around fire and death in his eyes, but he instantly relaxed as he saw that the one who was holding him was Gora. Gora whimpered ever so softly as he tried to pull Ryo away from the man. Ryo sighed heavily as he stepped away from the man “Very well…I shall stop Gora.” He looked to the swordsman who he had beaten last and walked over to him with purpose death, and still anger in his eyes.

He knelt down and looked at the man with his gaze “Your friend there sold you out. He wants me to kill you. I have half a mind to do that, but if you wish to live all you need to do is tell me where you punks hide the stolen lacrima. If not then my Dire Wolf here will rip your throat out and spill your blood all over this desert floor.” The man looked to Gora with horror in his eyes. He quickly nodded his head once “I-I know where it is! J-Just keep that monster away from me!”

Ryo picked up the man and looked at him with a deep frown pulling out the knife he had at his waist “Try anything funny I gut you like a fish. I swear to the gods that will be what happens.” The man looked very scared, and that was just what Ryo wanted. The pair of them slowly navigated the ruins that were currently being used as the headquarters. One of the buildings was especially large and it was truly the largest building in the ruins. The man looked up at Ryo nodding his head “This is where we keep them. Please let me go.”

Ryo rolled his eyes and struck the man with the hilt of the knife sending him into unconsciousness “Whatever, I am simply going to go in there and collect what I was sent here to collect. It’s truly that simple.” He looked to Gora with a soft smile “Now then partner let’s get in there and collect the Lacrima. I hate this freaking desert.” Gora gave a bark of approval and the pair of them walked into the ruined building without a second thought. As they arrived Ryo was happy to see the item in question. What he wasn’t happy to see is that the Lacrima was guarded.

Ryo sighed as he drew cards to fill his hand. He looked down at it and tucked away most of the cards replacing them with playing cards. He only needed the one spell he had drawn and that was more than enough to complete the task at hand. He looked down to Gora and gave him a soft pat on his head and then turned to the cartel member who was sitting down not really paying attention to much of anything. Ryo rolled his eyes as he cleared his throat. This caused the Cartel Recruit to jump up in shock and nervousness.

When he saw Ryo he drew a sword that was hanging loosely by his side. Ryo laughed softly as he rolled his eyes and pulled up his cards “This is truly sad. Come on at least try to be something worthwhile to me. After all I’ve been beating you guys to a blood sand-stain all day.” The recruit rushed forward his sword raised high and he was even yelling as he ran. Ryo rolled his eyes and swiped the cards in his hand through the air “Lightning Strike!” From the spell circle emerged six bolts of lightning all of them surging forward.

The recruit stopped and stood there dumbfounded and completely shocked, but the lightning bolts kept coming. All six of them slammed into the recruit with as much force as they could possibly muster. The several shocks were just far too much to handle and it brought the recruit down to his knees. He was truly down for the count, and this was just what Ryo needed right now. He sighed as he tucked his cards away into their proper decks “You know with all that I try to do for Sabertooth I think I’ve earned a short respite after this mission. Whatcha think Gora?”

Gora growled softly in agreement and the pair of them walked forward towards the stole Lacrima. It was true that the amount was simply far too great to be realistic. He couldn’t figure out why they would want so many Lacrima to begin with, but he wasn’t about to really complain. His job was to retrieve the Lacrima, and return it to its rightful owner. So that is exactly what he planned to do. He slowly made his way around the warehouse gathering up all of the lacrima crates into the center of the ruined warehouse.

He sighed heavily as he saw just how many Lacrima crates there were. He needed something to help him out, but he didn’t know what he would be able to find. He looked to Gora nodding his head ever so softly “Well boy let’s go find us a cart or something like that to help us. We can’t transport all of these without the aid of something like a cart. We don’t have the necessary strength to carry all of these over the desert.” Gora yawned as he tilted his head ever so slightly as if he was trying to understand what was happening.

Ryo sighed as he walked outside and looked around “Come on Gora we need to find a cart.” Gora barked as he followed after Ryo. The pair of them continued to walk around the ruins trying to find such a thing. Ryo was about to give up hope when he saw several camels tied to a post. Ryo smirked and nodded his head once “Well this is perfect. These camels can be used to carry the Lacrima back.” He took the time to untie all of them and he began to walk them back to the warehouse where the lacrima were.

As they arrived back at the warehouse Ryo took his time loading up the camels the best he could. He didn’t want to try and overburden them and so instead he simply tied two crates to each of the camels he had. There were only four camels so one of the camels had to carry three. He also took the liberty to tie one of the crates to Gora’s back and this allowed Gora to share some of the burden. He also took the opportunity to carry one of the crates on his back. He looked to Gora and began to tie the lead ropes of the camels to Gora’s back.

He smiled as he admired his own handy work. This was just what he needed in order to try and get the stolen property back to its rightful owner. Another successful mission under his belt and for the honor of Sabertooth. This was more than he needed in order to be called a good mage. With the goods in tow, Gora with him, and all the things he needed to call this mission a success. He looked to Gora with a final nod of his head “Well it seems we missed the king, but this makes it worth it. Let’s get going home.” Gora barked and the two of them headed back to the client’s place to return the stole Lacrima.
