- Backstory:
- Life has been a harsh roller-coaster for Suoh since birth. Even though he was born in a wealthy family, he lived under a strict lifestyle with high expectations forced onto him.His father would assign many tasks and chores for him to keep him busy and always learning. Any freetime Suoh had was devoted to inheriting his father's magical ability, Phantom Card Magic, and learning how to control the power of the magical deck of cards for one's use. Suoh was quite adapt at it and learned quickly, even if he didn't really have a choice of doing so and became an expert user of Phantom Card at a young age. But with great power came great responsibility, and responsibility was something Suoh lacked in principle and something he did not care about. He started recklessly and selfishly using his powers for malefic purposes like stealing and property damage for his entertainment, often times putting him at odds with the Rune Knights, and his father often had to bail him out of trouble one time after another, much to Suoh's displeasure and annoyance. Everything had to go the way his parents preferred and he did not like it. He often dreamt about moving on with his life and not having to follow a path set for him; he wanted to taste freedom and shape his own destiny than let others do it for him. Oh, the lust of adventure. Of recognition. Fame. Glory. Suoh wanted it all, and fate would answer his wishes...though not in the way Suoh wanted it to.
Suoh's parents were killed when a mob of bandits raided his home and stole almost everything they saw. He was fifteen when that happened, and he could not recall much details from such tragic event other than the fact he lost his wealth and family in a blink of an eye, and was left alone to fend for himself in a cold vast world he still has yet to understand. Rather than face orphanage and go through another cycle of being controlled, Suoh instead chose the lifestyle of a thief and with that, he took his father's magical deck holder, the Main Noire, and began his adventure, made a living off of stealing and robbing...but he did it in a way no one otherwise would have the time or dedication of doing. He did not just rob and ransack anyone...he targeted people he thought deserved to robbed. Specifically, he went after corrupt officials, shady businesses, and even dark mages, stealing much of their treasure as his own. He would pocket most of what he took while giving out a handful to those who were in need of help, making a small reputation of himself as a hybrid of a burglar and a vigilante in some sense - half hero, half villain.
Suoh's early career as a thief wasn't completely smooth. He has made a number of enemies because of his risky actions most of them being dark mages angered by the theft of their belongings that the Phantom Card Mage was responsible for. And it was not just dark mages; Suoh also had the Rune Knights hunting for him for the heists he committed on some of the higher-classed citizens (even if they deserved it). A regular person would give up his ways of lawbreaking if the amount of people after him was like that, but not Suoh. The mage continued his footsteps and living and relying on his own for so long has hardened him and his experience in getting his hands dirty and covering up his tracks. By age twenty, he was practically on a level equal to a strong B-rank mage, if not outright bordering the A-rank, making him a formidable foe as well as a difficult target to catch. The Rune Knights never got a good look at his face and Suoh was able remain under the radar and still show his face to the public without the worry of being treated like a criminal thanks to his (self-proclaimed) genius intellect.
The attention he got around Fiore however, started to get the better of him and it increased his greed. Suoh started taking more rash actions to satisfy his hunger for adventure and made a lot of stupid moves. He looted more whenever he was in a middle of a heist and began to increase his range of targets to very dangerous criminals, believing it would be more 'fun' to cause some havoc and wreck some justice on them at the same time and earning trust from a public. Suoh would never think of the consequences of what he was doing until his very last heist...a plot to steal from Savage Skull.
- Stolen Pride:
- Savage Skull's guild hall was something out of a horror movie and Suoh would never forget the very place that forever haunts him. But he was not afraid, at least at first. Suoh knew there must have been a secret, no, a grand treasure waiting behind those walls just waiting to be taken and Suoh strongly believed it would be his and he went for it...
...the thief reckoned that there would be resistance and he was faced with minor guards and foot soldiers, so he easily dispatched them and went in. There he encountered an unlikely individual; Crawford was the only name Suoh could recall from that fateful encounter and it was him who stopped Suoh from advancing and it would only get worst. Like an oblivious fool, Suoh locked into combat with the gentleman, and it would be the worst fight he would ever experience in his lifetime.
The thief, who believed himself to be invincible and above everyone else, found himself in trouble. This "Crawford" man had magic so powerful even the wave of his hand was able to knock him down and strike him with crippling pain that prevented him from effectively using his Phantom Card Magic on him. Suoh was stuck in a losing battle and it was only when he realize that the man wanted to take his life did he decided to take matters seriously. Suoh gave it everything he had, using every spell and every drop of magic power to fend off "Crawford", but in the end, his efforts were rendered null when the man activated an S-Class Magic on him. The thief could feel his magic being drained from him and could do little to stop the drain of his MP and his lifeforce, but he would not go down without one final struggle...
Suoh tossed his cane at the man in an attempt to wound him, to which the man caught and snapped in half. The thief then used the remainder of his cards to keep him at bay, to which the man simply deflected and countered with another Rapture spell, destroying Suoh's Main Noire Deck and his only source of power. The latter was only able to barely escape with his life with a well-placed Smoke Card barely escaping Savage Skull...
- Recovery:
- Suoh was found unconscious in Magnolia and taken to a local hospital, spending one month there under a trauma-inflicted coma. He made a decent recovery, but a large chunk of his magic power was gone and had no more cards. It took some time for him to come to terms to his depower and for him to face reality was like stabbing himself in the gut with a sword. He had to start over and earn back what he has lost. Broken pride. Broken spirit. Broken hope. He had lost the treasure of his lifetime - himself...and he needed to get it back...

- Suoh finished buttoning up his clothes and slipping on his boots. He fixed his fancy and stood up from the hospital bed, staring at the window in front of him with great sadness. He took a deep breath and headed out the room and then out of the hospital.
The sun shone onto the former thief and its warmth provided him some comfort from his current situation, to which he murmured. "Yet another fresh start for me, I guess..."
He headed into the streets and walked around, looking for a magic store. The most important thing right now was to recover some of his lost power so that he won't end up being completely helpless out in the streets. Next would be finding out where he would spend the day and the night someplace; stealing was something he could no longer do with such feeble strength. Perhaps after shopping, he could find help. And where else to find help than to join a guild - Magnolia's prized guild?
"I never thought I would join that..." Suoh chuckled to himself. "But Fairy Tail's not a bad start either. I could use some company after what I've been through..."
