Get rid of the Pesky Blockade

Ren stumbled forward through a crowd of people when he saw a girl with black hair talking to... Albin? Whatever his name was. Ren studied the girl, trying to recall her name. That must be... Villa? Ren thought to himself. He was never good at remembering peoples names. Ren was dressed as he normally was, bracelets dangling at each wrist, nails painted to perfection, hat positioned to make himself appear taller. Ren was definitely ready to maybe kinda sorta fight monsters. He ran forward to her, when he was stopped by a guard.

"Are you one of the mage's that is dealing with this blockade?" he asked, obviously irritated by the amount of people trying to get through. "Oh! Yes! That's me!" Ren blurted,lifting up the leg of his pants slightly to show the Lamia Scale tattoo on his ankle. "Alright, you can go through" the guard said with a nod as he stepped aside. Ren walked up next to the girl and waved in greeting. "I'm here!" Ren said, trying to look calm. His first job with something actually dangerous, and he had prepared before hand by practicing deeper screams, so his voice was partially sore. Albin or whatever his name was, lifted an eyebrow at his appearance. Ren decided to ignore this, he had to keep his temper down for this job.

"Job, jobby job job, jobby job. Going on a jobby job jobby jobjob"

The small and slender figure of Bliss Marce'el slowly came into view of the train station's guards as she skipped merrily through the entrance. Her general demeanour would suggest she was simply a child who'd come here to play. The guards certainly thought as such, as one approached her and stopped a few feet in front of her. Bliss being Bliss of course, she didn't notice. Cue her face thudding straight into the broad and powerful chest of the guard, ending her happy little chant abruptly. "...what was that for?" she spoke calmly, putting her hands on her hips, clearly unamused. This was her first job and her first obstacle was someone she was actually there to help.

"I'm sorry but we can't let anyone in here, least of all children. We have a problem here that we need mages to fix. You'll have to play somewhere else." the guard explained, obviously unaware of Bliss' occupation. She pulled her t-shirt up slightly to show the light blue Eclipse Soul insignia upon the left side of her stomach. "See, I am a mage. I came here to help!" she declared, before lowering her t-shirt and beaming up at the guard. Her attempt to gain entry ended in failure, as the station guard shook his head. "I'm sorry, I'm under orders. No children can come through...besides...you don't look like a mage, regardless of that insignia."

Bliss' mouth dropped open for a second, before she looked down to the floor and put her hands behind her back while scraping her foot along the floor sadly. "B-but...I am a mage...really...I can prove it..." she mumbled in disdain. She clearly wasn't going to get access unless somebody could vouch for her. Suddenly her eyes lit up and she looked up with a smile. "OH! I know! Ask one of the people who are already here if they're waiting for someone called Bliss. They'll recognise my name, and then you HAVE to let me through!" The guard sighed in defeat and nodded. "Alright, alright...I'll ask. But if none of them recognise your name, you will be escorted off of the premises. Agreed?"

Bliss stuck her hand out with a grin. "Agreed!" The guard shook his head and chuckled as he shook her hand. She'd at least brightened the day up a little so far. He then walked away towards the two magi who'd already arrived; Viola and Ren. "Excuse me, sorry to bother you both. I don't suppose you're waiting on a girl named 'Bliss' by any chance are you? There's a girl at the entrance who's pretty adamant on getting in here to help you, claiming she's a mage."

Late. That’s what Ryo was, he was late and this was unacceptable. True he had just finished a job in the ancient ruins, but that didn’t mean he could be late to another mission. This mission was going to be a lot more interesting than his normal missions as he was working in a group of four. This would be the largest mission group that he has ever been in. He rushed up to the large crowd that seemed to have gathered outside of a train station. As he walked up he noticed a little girl who had been stopped by some of the guards who were trying to direct the flow of traffic and keep the civilians out of the line of fire.

When the little girl showed the guard her guild crest Ryo noticed it and was amazed that someone so young was not only a wizard, but a wizard who was talented enough to be in a guild. This would be a very interesting job. He walked up to Bliss smiling at her “Come on. I’ll vouch for you.” He said in a friendly tone as he walked past her up to the guard “Yes we are. Now we are all here. You can leave the rest of it to us.” He then looked to the rest of the group smiling warmly “I’m sorry I am late. I was held up on my last mission. So shall we get underway?” he asked. He saw Viola and he was a bit more relaxed. He wasn’t sure who would be on this mission specifically, but it was nice to see a fellow guild mate on the mission team. He was ready and waiting for things to get underway now looking to the others to lead.

Ren smiled brightly at Bliss when he saw her, considering he was finally taller than someone. Ren decided to stand behind her at all times, so he would seem taller by comparison. With every step closer he took to the giant tree, he felt his confidence dwindling down to nothing. It was just a tree, but then there was the two things with the tree that frightened him. He hoped that they were peaceful, even though another part of him knew they weren't.

"So... Are we going to... you know... fight them?" Ren asked in a round-about manner. "I mean its not like I'm nervous or anything, just you know, I'm a stickler for details" Ren lied. God, he probably looked like such an idiot right now. "You know I've actually never taken a train before" Ren attempted to distract himself from the oncoming fight. "I bet they're nice though!" Ren said, accompanied by nervous laughter. He was definitely not ready for this fight. Calm, just be calm. he thought to himself as he put his hands in his pockets and kept walking until he was looking up at a tree. It was bigger than regular tree’s, that he knew.

Bliss smiled at the stranger as he vouched for her, skipping merrily alongside him as they approached the group. Despite being excited about her first job, the young mage ensured to listen to each member of the team carefully. The man who'd vouched for her was apparently the mage named Ryo. Through deduction, this meant that the other girl was Viola (after all, Bliss was Bliss, and no-one was stealing her name. Or else!) and the other boy who was smiling brightly at her must be Ren. She didn't have any time to speak before the group was ushered to do the job they'd come here for and so she simply walked beside Ryo, with Viola taking the lead and Ren being the straggler in the background. However, Bliss was more than aware that she should probably have remained at the back of the group; her magic was very much ranged based, so she'd do better staying AWAY from the supposed creatures that they'd have to fight, rather than getting up close and personal with them.

The silver-haired child tugged on Ryo's arm gently. "Um...I should probably hang back a little. I...I'm not very good at fighting up close..." A small blush of embarrassment appeared on her cheeks as she looked to the ground. "...but I can help you out from back here. Okay?" The Winter Huntress looked up at Ryo now, smiling sweetly even with the blush still lighting her face up.

Ryo walked with the rest of the group following this Albert who hired them. He couldn't help but be very angry with the man who hired them. He was acting so rude, as if it was their faults for this happening. Ryo would have to keep a watch on this man, and truth be told he wanted to hit him. At least once. Perhaps I could get a quick smack in with one of my cards. Ryo thought to himself.

He was pulled from his thoughts as he heard Ren speak. He looked back at the other mage and nodded his head "Yes indeed. We might have to fight them if they don't want to just be reasonable. I'm not against fighting, but I'd rather not waste the cards if I don't have to." The rest of Ren's speaking was drowned out from Ryo's mind as he suddenly took notice of the little girl attached to his arm. He looked down at her and listened as she spoke giving her a friendly smile as she assured him she could support them from the rears. He nodded his head once smiling "Well good. I'll be glad to have someone making sure nothing sneaks up on us. After all that would kind of put us at a disadvantage wouldn't it?" he said rather cheerfully before he returned his gaze ahead of him so he could see what was coming.

As they continued however Ryo was a bit uneasy. There were so many people to defend here. The little girl attached to his arm, the member of his own guild, not to mention someone who was also in the team. He started to wonder if he could protect them all, and if he couldn't would they be capable of defending themselves. He shook these thoughts from his mind and just continued on behind Viola who had taken point. He would do whatever it took to make sure everyone came home from this mission.

Ren looked in awe as the fire swirled up around the tree. Ren couldn't really do anything about the tree, since his water would only put out the fire. Ren felt kind of useless, so he decided to take lookout and let the others deal with the tree. His thoughts lingered to a certain hat he had seen in the window of a store. Ren’s train of thought strayed from one thing to another, and eventually he lost focus of the area he was watching. He probably didn’t miss anything anyways. Ren liked this mission, so far it was pretty relaxing, despite the burning tree behind him. Ren turned his head to look at the tree, and squinted a bit. He guessed it was burning, but the progress was pretty slow. It will get along eventually, he thought.

Ren liked the group he had been paired up with. He was scared at first when he heard two of them were from Sabertooth, which had been known to contain the more violent mages. He was terrified, but now they seemed nice enough. And he was actually taller than someone! Ren smiled to himself as focused back to lookout. Unfortunately, everyone else was taller.

Bliss watched Viola with a look of fear across her face. The Sabertooth girl ignited her body, surrounded it in flames and launched it at the tree, breaking it apart to make it more manageable. However, the flames only caused Bliss to recoil behind the rest of the group, cowering behind the two male members of the team, giving out a whimper. It wasn't that she didn't trust Viola. The elementalist had been friendly so far. But the flames were causing Bliss' fight or flight mentality to kick in.

Before she even had time to calm down, she was suddenly gripped on the wrist. In a split second reaction she created an icy aura around her legs and kicked out. "Winter Gale!" she cried out, kicking with her left leg first and narrowly missing the culprits head. It was a goblin thus was rather short, and the lack of time had caused this miss. The kick with her right foot connected though, catching the goblin in the gut and immediately delivering frostbite, slowing its movement down. Her third kick took out the goblin's legs, sending it crashing to the floor. With the threat brought to the ground, Bliss jumped backwards a few feet to create distance. She gave out a sigh of relief that she was currently unharmed. With the next creatures arriving though, it wasn't going to last. "I thought there was only ONE Vulcan?!"

Ryo stood there and watched as Viola ignited her body and set it ablaze. This was truly very interesting to him, as he had never seen a magic like this before. He was slightly impressed that she had such a magic, but he still reminded himself that he loved his magic more than any other form of magic out there. Of course he also couldn't help but notice how Bliss seemed to back away from Viola now that she was ablaze. He wondered if she was possibly scared of fire or if she possibly had some mistrust in Viola. In either event he could understand so he simply let Bliss back away from what scared her.

When he heard her call out however he whipped around drawing his cards faster than he normally did. It was his iconic hand at this point and he was happy he was so quick on the draw. When he saw what Bliss had just very easily dispatched he was a bit surprised to see that a goblin had managed to sneak past Ren, but the fact that it was so small probably gave it an advantage. Still even with it down he threw his two playing cards at it for good measure hitting it with both of them; before he noticed the Vulcans approaching. He smiled and set his hat in place pulling up his cards as he replied to Bliss “Well it wouldn't be much fun if there weren't all that many.” He quickly pulled up his lightning element card, and his melee card “Attack Combo: Lightning Spear.” The card formed into a shaft of solid lightning with a pointed tip. Now true this weapon could be used for melee, but he wanted some distance, so he was going to get it. He pulled his arm back and threw his spear at one of the oncoming Vulcans. Sadly however the Vulcan was smart enough to drop to the ground and the spear sailed right over it. Ryo swore softly to himself as he backpedaled towards the rest of the group.

Ren let out a girly shriek when the Vulcans appeared. When two of them turned their attention towards his shrieking, he began to shriek louder. This appeared to aggravate them, as they began to advance towards him. Ren began to do the usual. Run. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him, and the Vulcans followed.

Ren was almost out of breath, and so in a latch ditch effort, he turned around, dug his heels into the ground, lifting his left arm up and his right arm back, then literally screaming in their faces "WINGS OF LOVE!". The spell burst forward and shot both the Vulcans and Ren away. He really had to learn how to control the throwback of that thing if this was what he was going to use it for. What else did he plan to use it for anyways? He looked up in panic as the Vulcans stood up, but it was clear that they were dizzy. “Ha! Teach you to mess with me!" he squeaked, regretting his words as the Vulcans stood up, and angrily looked around, trying to find him in their dizzy state. Ren resorted to running back to his teammates, as they would provide the proper safety.

Bliss stepped behind Ryo and Ren, needing the distance between herself and the vulcans in order to prepare herself for her attacks. She pulled her bow off of her shoulder as she inhaled, before bringing her right hand up and creating a long arrow of ice. "I am a single arrow..." she whispered, placing the arrow against her bow and closing her left eye. Her right eye remained open staring down the length of the arrow. She had no room for error right now, yet as she prepared to release the arrow she froze. The last time she'd fired this spell was the last time she'd seen her father. Her left eye opened as she was momentarily sidetracked, remembering that day - at least the parts she could remember from it - her drawn bow losing tension.

"MELODY!"

The cry from Viola snapped Bliss to reality, as her eyes watched the older girl fox hit the floor before Viola too was flung to the ground. [i]I am a single arrow... she thought to herself before closing her left eye and focusing with her right. She tensed and released the arrow in one quick motion, no hesitation this time. "Gelidus' Touch!" The arrow struck one vulcan in the hip, before splintering and striking the other vulcan. The vulcan struck first attempted to move closer, only to grunt as its leg was slowed by the aftereffects of the ice mages spell.

As Ryo’s Vulcan continued to run at him he looked at his cards and knew he had only a few options open to him. He quickly drew three playing cards and then picked two of the cards from his hand. He was going to light this fight up, and this time he wouldn’t miss. He threw the five cards towards the Vulcan who continued to run at him full speed “Burning Cards!” as the cards flew they ignited and were like little fireballs. The Vulcan stopped as he tried to figure out a way to avoid them, but sadly for him there wasn’t and he was hit with three of the five cards.

Ryo wasn’t finished here however as he ran towards the Vulcan. He pulled up the last two cards in his hand and smirked “Defense Combo: Wind Shield!” The cards in his hand formed into a giant Spartan shield. As Ryo neared the Vulcan he was able to strike. He smashed the Vulcan’s entire body with the shield and sent him flying backwards away from him and everyone else. Once the shield vanished Ryo back stepped to return to Bliss. He didn’t want to leave a little girl unguarded.

Ren's eyes widened in amazement when Viola created her whirpool. Just a minute ago she was doing fire magic. The closest thing Ren could do was Wings of Love, and he could barely control it when it was cast. Ren liked to think that one day he would be able to do something so cool it would make everyone jealous. He often likes to think about how cool it would be if he could turn into a huge water dragon to smite his foes. He was pulled away from his childish dreams when Viola called out about the tree.

Ren felt kind of useless when it came to the tree. He knew his basics, and if anything, dousing a tree with water seemed like the worst way to get rid of it. Ren didn't have any sort of weapon, and it had already been made clear he was terrible at lookout, leaving his only choice to fight back enemies that would try to interfere. Great. Ren's eyes began to twitch rather violently in an attempt to shut them, but he resisted. He had teammates to look after, even if he was bad at it. "You work on the tree, I'll hold off them off if they come back... Ren said meekly.
