    Suggestion Idea Name: Free Secondary Magics
    Suggestion Details: Oh yes, I'm back for more suggesting. I'll keep this plain and simple.
    Secondary Magic has been on FTRP since conception, and it hasn't been a problem until now really. The price was fair and even back in the before times, it was low enough for people to actually afford. But now, literally half a million plus jewels for a max of five spells? That's actually a little ridiculous if you ask me. The only ones that can afford that are donators. What of people who want to expand upon their magic or create a complimentary one to further CD or something similar, but don't want to donate? Well I guess it means they're S.O.L, doesn't it.

    What are your thoughts? Lower the price or make it free? Or, keep it as is.

    I am leaning more towards making them Free. Though, I am also one of the aforementioned parties who is unable to actually donate, or would prefer not to. And I kind of wanted to have use my Secondary for Character Development. Though, dropping the price some would also be a good idea.

    50,000-200,000 for secondary magic,   but pay for spell slots themselves individually without the terrible limit to spell slots to the number of free spells you get.   So WITH paying you have the same secondary spells as you get for free for primary,  while with paying for primary spells you have like double that.

    As a compromise, I suggest halving the requirement of Secondary Magic (at least ). This at least makes the members have to work hard (still) to earn their new magic.

    I agree. I've been contemplating my secondary magic for a while now, but the problem is that I can never dream of affording it. I don't mind it costing money, but if it is going to cost so much then raise the rewards on the missions. It's hard enough to do missions for little pay, but also to save up to afford the secondary magic, when it's up so high. That's just wrong. I really don't mind it costing jewels, but there is no reason that it needs to cost so much when the ability to afford it, is almost non-existant unless you donate, and that isn't fair to the rest of us.

    Halving half a million jewels would still be absurd. Jobs honestly dont give that much. Two hundred year jobs dont even give that much >_> Siren's pricing seems to be a step in the right direction. Or just free.

    My vote is for free. but we have to train them maybe. create a training thread in which the character learns the skills. once they have the magic they can create the basic number of secondary spells. If they want more then that they have to pay for the spell slots for it.

    that seems fair to me. plus it gives character development which is always good.

    considering a rookie D-rank mage can have secondary magic if it becomes free there needs to be a limit on it.

    edit: honestly I thought they were free to begin with since so many D/C-ranks have a secondary magic here.

    My vote is free upon reaching B or A rank. That way you have IC experience to achieve such a thing. Also as an added thing to balance it, make it a job that involves training to get this magic. Again that way there is an IC reason you got it instead of "Oh this magic fell on my lap one day."

    I am casting my vote towards what Zenneth suggested. Then again, I had planned to do a story-line that depicts my character's first use of his Secondary Magic from the start. Primarily because of how my Secondary is triggered, I literally wouldn't be able to gain it unless I met one of three distinct conditions. And these conditions would need to be met in order to use it any time after gaining it. Anyways, enough of my rambling. . .

    Also as an added thing. Mods that review the secondary spell decides what the word count the training has. That way weak magic requires minimum like 3,000 word training, but Zenshins reality altering powers as a secondary will be closer to 50,000 word post.

    the whole jewel system kind of needs work, but anyway...

    We're never going to see the end of really rich donators, that's a fact. Having really expensive secondary magics is good, in the sense that it gives those richie rich's something to really spend their jewels on, so that the marketplace doesn't break by 1 donator funding 10 other members who can't afford anything.

    My suggestion is to add an alternative means of achieving secondary magic. Training IC would be a good way of going about it. Create a system where you have an equivalent word requirement per so many jewels, which will still allow donators to spend their huge amounts of jewels on something and still make it possible for the little guy.

    Not really lowering the price at all, because then donators wouldnt have things to spend jewels on?
    That's why everything is so expensive. To give them just that. I think secondaries is the last thing on their mind, but anything's possible.

    I partially agree.

    What I agree with is - yes, secondary magics are often overpriced.  I personally would be fine with the costs, as long as we had access to more spell slots, problem is we don't.  So, this can be handled by:

    A) Increasing the jewel reward given by jobs.
    B) Lowering the prices greatly.
    C) Giving us more options, A.K.A more spell slots.

    However, what I also agree with is an alternative way of gaining it; not everyone is going to be able to afford secondary magic, no matter how you split it.  We should have a way to train for the magic, since, essentially, the way it is now, one night, you go to sleep, the next day it's like "Oh crap, I can do this now?!  Awesome!"  Let's be honest, that's not too realistic, is it?

    So, yeah, I do think a way that we could potentially gain secondary magic is by hosting a training thread, similar to what Zenneth suggested, where there's a minimum word count to all magic, and it'll increase according to how power/complex the magic can get.  This, of course, will be judged by admins and mods.  Sadly a lot of the current staff is inactive, so it might take time till this is added in if at all.

    What I DON'T agree with, however, is making them completely free.  Everyone gets to roam with secondary magic without having to do anything for it; unfair to those who have purchased it previously or have gotten it through similar means.

    On a side note, completely changing your primary magic only costs 50k. That is not a lot for these days, and the magic is by FAR better than secondary magic no matter HOW you split it. Something to take into account.

    I feel as though I'm forgetting a ton of things, but they're not coming to mind, so I'll just stick with this for now.
