Personality: Outside of battle, she is a very perky and upbeat person, never depressed, always looking to cheer up others. She enjoys playing games, especially card games and is very good at them. She enjoys teasing others and playing pranks, though she rarely does anything very mean. In battle, she is somewhat taunting, with the added advantage of provoking the opponent, though this is not intentional.
She grew up in a slum, surrounded by darkness. People were starving and dying and she had to deal with this. Some people from Fairy Tail once came through her neighborhood on the way to a job and she was shocked at how lighthearted the atmosphere around them seemed to be. She became captivated with the idea of happiness and began to think constantly about how to make people happier. When she was about 8 years old, her father died of starvation. Her family had never made much money, but had always had enough supplies to survive, but, that year, her sister, who had made most of the family’s income, had a stroke and became unable to work. Arliss had never been very close to her father, and he was occasionally abusive, both verbally and physically, but his death shook her to the core. It was the event that caused her to realize that life is unfair and that death is nondiscriminatory. Shortly after her father’s death, Arliss left the slums so her mother and sister would no longer have to split food between three mouths, though her family insisted that she stay and that they had plenty. She had been wandering for years when she came across the elite guild, Mermaid Heel. Not knowing what it was at the time, she went inside and began to ask all about what it was and was eventually asked about her past and why she was alone. She told them the entire story and was welcomed with open arms. They gave her new clothes and fed her, helping her recover from years on the road. She had been sitting and chatting with Lyon when Sherry came back from a job, and the atmosphere around Sherry was exactly what she was trying to give to everyone. She has since been following Sherry closely, which has caused Sherry to become sort of a big sister figure in her life. Her relationship with Yuka is very good, and Yuka has been her mentor for the whole time that Arliss has been attempting to learn magic. Bob tends to disapprove of her mentality, saying that she is a little too cheerful even during work and that she needs to take some things seriously (and that's saying something, considering it's Bob). Lyon is protective of her, and often tries to make her stay back if something could possibly be wrong, and Arliss is a little bit frustrated with this. She completely HATES Ren, even though he's Sherry's fiancee, because she views tsundere as a way of hurting people. She dislikes Toby for this same reason as well, because his constant state of anger is directly oppositional to her cheer. Overall, she has a good relationship with most of the guild. She has also shown a talent for melee combat, able to beat the average opponent with ease.
