Rin had just accepted a job in the mountain village. It was a job where she would not need her magic so she didn't take her armor or tempest blade with her this time, and for a change, she brought Hibiki along with her as well. Ever since her break up with Alexander, Rin's attitude had changed drastically, she no longer was nervous around men but at the same time became indifferent towards them. As they trekked uphill to reach the village, Rin thought back to how she was feeling when he had told her that he was ending their relationship, but she shed no tears thinking about it. Rin had officially hardened her heart, so she would never be hurt like that again. After hours of walking, they finally reached the village, only to be greeted by the client. The man just looked Rin and Hibiki over and sighed. Maybe he thought a girl and a cat wouldn't be able to handle the job. Rin just stared at the old man, with a pissed off look. "Don't worry, We can easily handle a little manual labor without magic, you know?" The man jolted slightly at Rin remark and then led her into the village.

On the way through the village, the client explained in more detail about the job. He wanted her to help build a house for his daughter, who was to be married in a few weeks. However, Rin was forbidden to use her magic to get the job done, not like her spells would help anyways, seeing as they weren't suited for this type of work. Most of what the client told her, she already knew so she mostly tuned his explanation out, but still nodded to make him think she was listening to him. Hibiki however, listened to everything he said because he didn't know anything about this job. As they got further into the village the climate changed drastically. It became to the point where it was actually snowing. This made Rin shiver, she had been absent minded and hadn't dressed appropriately for the cold. Even though, Rin was wearing her usual clothes which consisted of a knee-length, white long sleeve blazer, white button up blouse, navy blue neck ribbon and black pleated skirt; her legs were freezing. She couldn't stand it but decided not to complain out loud. Instead, she just continually rubbed her legs hoping to create heat for them to unfreeze in the harsh, cold snowy weather. Then finally, after about a half-hour's worth of walking, they reached the site where the cottage would be built.

When the reached the construction site, the snow had stopped falling but the ground was blanketed in pure white snow. The sun made the ground glisten and sparkle while a chilly breeze blew in in the air. Rin was in awe of the sight she saw before her. However, this wasn't the time to be gawking, she had work to do. The client had already bought all the materials needed to build the place and he'd also hired some villagers to help out, so Rin and Hibiki wouldn't be working alone on this. Once the villagers also arrived at the site, they began to work. They were going to build a wooden cottage. All Rin had to help build was the outside, the job of building and decorating the inside was going to be done by someone completely different. One of the villagers ask Rin to bring over the tool box, so Rin picked it up and brought it to him. "here you are" Once Rin had done that, she went back to her own work. She was working on the frame for one of the windows. The client wanted a cutely designed wooden frame that was different for each window, so once had put the four pieces of wood together for the one window frame, she began to carve designs into it.

Rin happily carved cute designs in the wooden frame for the window. She would carve in; flowers, stars, musical notes, and etc. Once rin had finished the designs for the frame, she brought it over to the other villagers that were working on the window. Altogether, they took the decorated frame and placed it in where the window would go. Once they had put the frame in place and secured it, Rin began working in the second one. Meanwhile, Hibiki carried lumber and tools around for the other villagers. She finished second frame and they did the same thing again with it. It was a little past noon when Rin finished her first task and as she was about to start the next one, the client came back and told them to take a 30 minute break for lunch. So Rin went and grabbed the nicely wrapped lunch box out if her bag, sat down with Hibiki away from the others and began to unwrap her lunch box. When she opened the box, there was a colorful aray of yummy looking foods. She had rice balls, rolled omelets, octopus wieners, the works. Rin just sat quietly and nomed on a riceball

Rin quickly finished her rice ball the proceeded to eat the rolled omelets. The whole time, Rin didn't smile once. The smile she once had, was now gone. Once she'd finished her lunch, it was time to get back to work. She quickly cleaned up her lunch box, put it away then returned to work. Her next task was to help put the custom window frames in place so that the windows could be put in. With the help of two others, they carried the first frame, setting it in place the using the sealing stuff to seal it in tight. They repeated the same process for the other windows as well. With that task now out of the way, it was time to set in the glass windows. Rin was told that she didn't need to help with this part so she just shrugged her shoulders and grabbed the MP3 player out of her bag to listen to some music. She watched them put in the windows while quietly humming along to the song she was listening to. Before they knew it, it began to snow once more but thankfully, all the windows had been completely set in when it did. The snow was affecting their vision, making it hard for them to work so everyone went inside the not quite completed cottage to wait it out.

It seemed like snow would never end, there were there for at least two hours before it finally stopped. Once the snow had ceased, they continued their work. They all had to work quickly for it was beginning to get dimmer out. All'a that was left to do was paint the cottage and put in the skyline. All of them weren't sure what color the cottage should be. While two people were on the roof taking care of the skyline, Rin and the others were trying to decide on a color for the cottage. Then Hibiki came flying over. "What's going on Rinny?" He asked as he sat on Rin's head. She petted her exceed companion and replied "we're trying to decide on what color to paint the cottage but we can't make up our minds." Rin just let out a sigh, she wondered if she's even be able to go home today or not.

Hibiki just continued to sit on top of Rin's head, he then pulled out a fish from the pack on his back and began to happily munch on it. Meanwhile, Rin was still trying to decide on a color for the cottage. She could start to really feel Hibiki's weight on her head. Rin turned her eyes upwards to the small orange exceed. "Ne, Hibiki, you're heavy, can you not sit on my head anymore??" Hibiki just shrugged his shoulders and flew off her head, still munching on his fish. Rin could feel eyes on her. And surely enough when she turned her head, the villagers that were helping with the construction team were staring at her and Hibiki. It seemed that they weren't used to seeing a flying and talking orange cat. She just blankly stared back at them all the while, she could clearly hear them whispering to one another. "Hey, what do you suppose the little critter is anyways?" Rin approached them along with Hibiki. When she was close enough to them, she cleared her throat. "Ahem! You know, if you have something you wish to know, all you hafta to do is ask me." Rin's words were quite curt but it irritated her when people whispered like that and behind her back. They looked at her dumbfounded.

She just stared at them before clearing her throat once more. "This is my companion, Hibiki, he's an exceed Are you all satisfied now?" They still appeared to be dumbfounded but they quickly turned back to the task at hand which, was picking a color to paint the cottage. Before they knew it, the skyline had finished being installed. As the two villagers came down from the roof, the client returned looking sour. He looked over the cottage then turned to Rin and t5he others. "you idiots! Where the heck is the cottage door?! Is my precious daughter and her husband supposed to live in a cottage without a door? Well?!" The villagers were silent, and Rin wasn't to crazy about how the old man was talking to them. She just turned to the workers. "C'mon guys, lets put the door on, then we can worry about what color to paint the cottage." They just nodded and followed Rin.

Hibiki followed Rin as well and whispered into her ear. "Hey Rinny, what's that old guy's deal anyways?? He's so rude, and he treats you guys like crap." She just patted Hibiki on the head. "Don't worry about it right now, let's just get this job over an done with before it becomes too dark to work anymore. The door was already made, they would just have to attach it to the hinges and make sure it opened and closed properly. Rin helped the men carry the door over to the cottage. It was fairly thick and quite heavy but Rin tried her best to help carry it. Once they had successfully carried it and put it in place, two of the workers began to attach it to the hinges while Rin and the others held it up in place so it wouldn't fall down or anything. They managed to set up the door, Rin opened and closed it to check and make sure it was working. Now, they could decided on a color for the cottage. Rin decided to ask the client if he had a personal preference.

Rin went and asked the client for his preference and he told her he wanted the cottage to be painted a pretty sky blue color. Rin headed in town with Hibiki and one of the female workers to buy the paint. It took them awhile to get back but they eventually did and started to paint the cottage. Rin was in charge of painting the back wall and left side wall of the cottage and she was indifferent about it. Hibiki helped paint, being careful not to his magic so all he could reach up was about a few feet and no more. To get up higher, Rin climbed up the ladder to paint the top of the walls. She ended up finishing before the others did and decided she would help the others finish the painting. After a good four hours had passed, they were finally done painting and gathered around. The client came and praised each of them for their hard work. He then went over to Rin and handed her a small bag of jewels.With that Rin and hibiki went on their way.
