Two's a crowd too [Private Indar/Gemma]

Making her way quickly down the cobble roads of Oak Town, Gemma headed straight for the mayors outfit, her belongings heavy on her back and the piece of paper she had ripped of the guild's Job board a few hours earlier still crumbled in her tight fist. She kept glancing up and around, looking for the large building where the mayor, her client, should be waiting.

It might be a bit of tough job, she kept thinking on the way over. It would pit her against other mages, something she had only done a handful of times. But how else was she supposed to progress, and more importantly prove herself, and not be some kind of background decoration in a guild of powerful mages.

Squaring her shoulders she made way towards a shop keeper who was standing next to a vegetable display. "I'm sorry", she began politely "Would you know where I could find the mayor please?" she asked.

"He's the man who looks like he's about to collapse over there" the woman answer, with a pained look on her face. Thanking the lady, Gemma turned around towards the direction she was indicated, and sure enough there stood a slightly overweight man, puffing on his pipe and sweat clearly coming down his forehead. Lifting her head, she made way towards him. "Excu-" she began, but was cut off as she arrived at the level of the mayor as the same time as an unknown person.

Indar walked through the streets of Oak town, not really knowing on where to go exactly. He didn't know where the client was or where the major was. He stared at the half torn poster in his hand, he had pulled it off Sabertooths job board right before leaving the guild. Indar had left Saber now for real, he wasn't going to go back there any longer. There were reasons for the leaving, mainly due to the team, he now considered his best friends or even family. He sighed quietly, stuffing the job poster into his bag.

People were making way for the mage, as a few people in Oak town knew him, not for his good deeds though, but the more worse and evil ones. Indar knew he wasn't liked by the people really that much, but he didn't really care. He was in this town on a job and well he kinda did live in this town. His eyes finally noticed someone who looked like the mayor of Oak town. This was a pleasant surprise, as he had thought he would have needed to go to the government building, something he hated to do.

Indar fastened his pace, trying to reach the mayor, but just as stopped and stood right next to him, a girls voice went through his ears. Indar turned towards her and so did the mayor. Indar wasn't sure on what to say, but it was clear the girl had business with the mayor and it did look important. So Indar just stood there, not saying anything, making the tension rise and the atmosphere grow a little awkward.

Gemma looked awkwardly at the man who had arrived next to it, hesitating to mention the job in front of the unknown person; but at the same time wary of their presence. "Can I help you?" she asked, lifting an eyebrow. "Or could this wake I have important business to do with the Mayor" she said, turning back towards the overweight man.

Indar listened to the girls questions and said: '' Well, i kinda do have business with the mayor. '' He questioned speaking about the job, but decided to make a small hint towards it: '' It involves a fire wizard who has been terrorizing the people here, so it is urgent, i think at least. '' He looked at the mayor, who was nodding, still not saying a single word. Indar then turned around to look at the girl: '' I'll talk to him quickly and then you will have all the time in the world. '' He smiled at the girl.

Gemma side eyed the man as he answered her, only to have them widened slightly as she realized that they were here for the same reason. This was not good. She needed this job done on her own, not for the reward but for herself. To prove she could do it. "Ah, seems we're here for the same thing" she said with a fake smile, lifting up her on job parchment for him to see. "I'm afraid it's going to have to be first come, first served. I'm sure you understand" she added, tilting her head.

When Indar heard they had the same reason for being here, a sly small appeared on his face. It had been some time since the last time this had happened and the last job he had completed was when he was still a member of Sabertooth. He looked at the girl and said: '' You sure you can handle it on your own? '' Indar had a questioning look on his face, until he turned back at the major. '' Can this be completed by two people at the same time? '' The major nodded again, he didn't look like a man who liked to talk. '' So... Would you like to do this together, i won't get into your way, if you want to do this alone, but this isn't an easy job. ''

Gemma's gaze narrowed slightly at the man's words, an slight edge of condescendence rolling off of them at least that's how she viewed it. Rolling her eyes when the mayor nodded yes, pretty sure that he was in a state where he'd be unable to do anything more that stupidly shake his head or continue sweating profusely, Gemma unclenched her fist to look at the job she was holding. C rank. She knew she technically wouldn't have been allowed to take it if she had asked the kind lady behind the counter, but she wanted to prove to herself that she could- worse case scenario they will just never know she took it. Or was helped. The man didn't seem to have any guild marks on him.

Independent, she guessed to herself, although there was no way to be sure if it wasn't hidden under his clothing. Whatever. She'll just omit the small detail of a random partner. "Fine. But don't think I couldn't have done this buy myself" she said before turning towards the mayor "We're on it" she deadpanned. "Where should we start?" The mayor lifted his trembling finger down the road, and Gemma hiked her backpack and spear up her back as she started to walk towards the indicated direction. "You coming?" she asked turning back to look at the unnamed man.
