Guilds don't really feel all that remarkable. They're just a bundle of mages that house themselves in different locations bearing different marks.
I would very much recommend we allow guild benefits.
Guild Benefits are tied to the guild tattoo, which is a magical tattoo carrying with it the spirit of the guild. This connection to the heart of the guild brings about certain benefits for bearing the tattoo in accordance with their loyalty to the guild.
This would allow a noticeable and significant boon relevant to the guilds individually.
For example, a guild tattoo could allow the breathing of water.
A guild tattoo could allow them to be unharmed by nonmagical flame/lava.
Walking on clouds.
and so on.
and if you think this is too much, I would remind you that we already have a system of benefits that effect every player: Lineage.
This would only be a second source of benefits that the players actually have control over via joining a select guild.
Guild Benefits could be further extended or improved through the usage of guild points as a form of currency to acquire nice things for your guild.
Additionally, the current leader in the race for points in the Guild Points thingy that is currently pretty useless, could allow the leader to have certain benefits itself as well.
Which would make it a decision as to purchase guild things, or go for the lead.
Only the Guild Master can use Guild Points as currency in the Guild Shop. Guild Points could buy guild upgrades, guild ships, guild spells, benefits to all members of the guild, ect.
All of this would allow guilds to have truly remarkable set ups. For example, a guild tattoo that allows the survivability underwater would allow a guild to exist under water in a manner that those not of the guild will usually be very disadvantaged or not even able to find it. A different one could have a guild hall in a crater filled with lava and members have to walk through a flow of lava to get to the guild hall beyond it.
Another guild hall could be in the clouds, and without the guild tattoo's given ability to cloudwalk, they wouldn't be able to raid it.
