Spoiler:

"I can't believe this. Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure. Didn't you hear? Everyone is talking about. The plants, black as ash, with thorns as sharp as knives and leaves rotting into compost immediately."

"Whew, which unlucky village was it?"

"I heard it was Beanstalk Village. The farmers are stumped and desperate; they've been calling out for help. I wish there is something we could do, but it will take mages to deal with this sort of problem."

"And what happened to the mages who went to assist? Surely, there had to be some who would take the job?"

"That's where things get crazy; they say that Rune Knights have been seen wheeling out bodies from the village, but no one was willing to utter a single sound about what happened in there."

    "Bodies, you serious?"

"You think I'll lie about something like that. A friend of mine told me that he had been close at scene and when he managed to took a look.....he swears to the heavens that he witness a limp hand hanging from underneath the concealing blanket!"

"Well, what else did he see?"

"It was horrible, terrifying, according to him."

"What? WHAT?! C'mon, spit it out."

"He said that he saw corn leaking out from the hand."

"CORN!? BWAHAHAHA! ARE YOU SERIOUS? HE LITERALLY SAID CORN? HAHAHA!" Aldous could barely hide away his disgust at Abraxis' inappropriate laughter. A man's death is not something to make light of, even the method of death is just asking for a joke or two.

As he pulled Abraxis along even harder with a huff, Aldous cringed as he begun to spot the village in sight, just over the hill that he and Abraxis had been climbing in their journey. However, he had saw the place coming long before he had gone over the hill; the massive bean-stalk, a giant mass of greenery shaped into a double-helix, was still soaring to the sky, just as he had last remembered it from a year ago.

Urinu Longhands' book The Roots of The Stalk described the history of the beanstalk as being an example of a religious war over sacred ground, with many tribes, thinking that climbing the stalk as just being near it would elevate them to heaven when judgement is to come, had fought tooth and nail against one another for the symbol and it was said that the beanstalk grew ever larger, nurtured by the spilled blood of its worshippers. In this day and age, the current villagers who have finally settled down no longer view the stalk with the same divine zeal, but were actually descendants of all of the warring tribes, an ironically peaceful product of warring times. Aldous had not known that the village had such history before, but as he narrowed his eyes, he saw that even though it was so different from the past, not much has changed physically, not even those conical tents, large enough to rival a concrete house, whose shape and embroidery of told of an exotic culture originating from a more ancient time, borne from the minds of a thousand ancestors.

After having secluded himself in the Grimoire Heart airship wreck for the past year, Aldous had a mind to exit Magnolia and restart his wanderings around Fiore, with the first destinations coming to mind being the various villages that had treated with wonderful hospitality and even now, Aldous was feeling a little giggle rising in his throat from the memories of children cheering around Abraxis, all of them asking him to give them a ride, much to the bicycle's annoyance. When he had heard that Beanstalk Village was running into trouble, he had left Magnolia immediately, knowing full well that something awry was happening to the village, something that he as a mage has a responsibility to stop.

Aldous Focusine: A Wizard's Grace (Solo) Empty Re: Aldous Focusine: A Wizard's Grace (Solo)

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 5:07 am

"Please turn back! This village is under the protection and investigation of the Magic Council!"

Aldous folded his arms, straightened his back to his full height, such that when his eyes met the Rune Knight standing in his way at the borders of the village, he was staring down at the man. Draped in that signature priest-like uniform of the Rune Knights, the man, with short orange hair pressed under that ridiculous three-topped hat, remained surprisingly resolute, or at least that was what Aldous could see from his tight-lipped face and his narrowed green eyes.

Aldous noticed the other Rune Knights around this lone one, backing away, the twitches in their expression betraying their fear of the wolfish looks and deadly panther-like grace of Aldous. He then returned his gaze at the one standing before him and all he could discern was the tightening of the Knight's grip on his staff: he was ready to make use it. Aldous had to give it to him: this Rune Knight had guts.

Remaining unfazed, Aldous shook his head disgruntedly, a frown now etching its scars into his forehead. He had expected that when he arrived, he would be welcomed . Instead, he was forced to now stand right outside of the village by the border guards made up of Rune Knights, entering an unwanted confrontation with what is the right hand of the single greatest authority in Fiore. It did not help that when he looked past the gutsy Rune Knight's shoulder, he could see some of the residents of Beanstalk Village, especially the children hiding behind the cloth of their tents, watching them with eyes that glimmered with worry and pleading.

    Damn the authority.

"Move aside. I have a job to do."

"I cannot allow you to do that." Aldous raise his brows at the lack of hesitance in the orange-haired Rune Knight's voice. This could be bad. "The situation has reached a level that we cannot allow any civilians to be involved and get themselves hurt, especially if you are a mage."

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 5:55 am

"Especially if you are a mage?" Aldous caught on the last few words, his frown deepening as he begun to turn around, showing his back towards the blocking Rune Knight. As he scratched his chin, deep in his thoughts, Aldous was aware that the other Rune Knights were starting to gather around the resolute one, rallying under his example of courage as they locked their staffs together. Ha, he knew that one was going to be trouble.

But at the same time, an incident that would be harmful to mages specifically? Surely, it meant that someone was just using Beanstalk Village as a staging ground to set a trap for mages; but what sort of trap and what would be the trigger that only mages can activate? As he begun to find the pieces needed for the full picture, Aldous subconsciously looked towards his hand and before he knew it, he was clenching his fist, with the black-purple glow coating it, the sign of magic particles under his command. The dying mages, the hanging hand, its veins full of corn, the reason why it seems that none of the commanding officers of the Rune Knight, other than staff-users, seem to be on-site.

"Magic Particles. Huge quantities of magic particles. The type that only a mage can have," Aldous murmured, out of earshot of the watching Rune Knights, while Abraxis was just barely able to hear, but when the bicycle spotted the look that Aldous gave him, the bell on him rang a little, signalling that he knew what to do.

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 6:24 am

"ALRIGHT, YOU GAY-LOOKING PANSIES! OUT OF THE WAY!" To the Rune Knights, it must have been horrifying, seeing a bicycle suddenly turn around and then charge straight at them, coated in a speed-boosting magical aura, all the while screaming expletives and dirty words that Aldous pretended he did not hear. As the Rune Knights around their rallying leader begun to stand back and disperse to avoid getting bulldozed, that orange-haired Rune Knight did not even flinch, as dug his heels in and set his staff into the ground, just in time for him to collide head-long into Abraxis, his stance allowing him to stop the bicycle entirely, as a small wave of impact energy burst through the air between them.

"Whew..." Abraxis whistled with his brass mouth, a little Chesire Cat grin forming around the lips of his bell. "Not bad, you took me head-on. What's your name, brat?"

"Locker, of the 10th Custody Enforcement Unit!" The Rune Knight spat under gritted teeth, his arms noticeably wavering under the strain of trying to force a magically enhanced bicycle at full throttle back. "I'm sorry! B-But I can't let you in!"

"Well, Locker brat," Abraxis' grin widened, as if it could get any wider. Then he gave a little chuckle, a raw snort of amusement that had its pitch increased by the bell from which it had appeared. "I'm sorry too. Because while you certainly did an admirable job, I'm not the mage here."

"Wha?" And then Aldous launched forward, sailing right over Abraxis and Locker, his flying body covered from head-to-toe with that unmistakable black aura of Seal Floater.

The other Rune Knights, having dodged away from Abraxis before, could only gawk as their borders were breached, while Locker, still struggling against the distracting Abraxis, could only bite his lower lip in self-disappointment.

Hoping that Abraxis is not going to get into too much trouble back there, Aldous quickly forgot the border guards, instead focusing on weaving his way through the village, avoiding any remaining Rune Knights within the town itself until he could reach his destination. While he might not be definitely sure, the hand of corn had given him a good idea of where the trap was set.

"The only place where you can find corn..." Aldous murmured as the rest of the village was a blur around him, his Seal Floater going faster than ever before (had it improved from his time at Grimoire Heart?). When he cleared the last tent, all that was left to see of civilization were the monumental standing stones placed in a ring around the hundred-meter-thick base of the Bean Stalk and the nearly never-ending rows and rows of crops, from tomatos and corn to even the humble broccoli, that was beyond the Stalk and were the closest to the mountains that neighboured the village.

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 6:24 am

"So it is as they say. Plants, black as ash, with thorns sharp as knives. And their leaves rotting away into stomach-wrenching compost. How despicable to use a village's livelihood to set a trap for mages," Aldous cursed as he set himself down, near the edge of the closest field, with the entire place stretching out beyond him for another hundred meters. Now that he had seen it for himself, he knew that a mage was responsible for this madness; the shroud of corrupted ashen particles hanging over the plants was a sure sign of foul magic that any fellow practitioner would be able to recognize. The poor Legal Mages had no idea.

Aldous noticed more than the nature of the spell-trap that was before him. He also could see, and silently admire, the degree of skill that the perpetrator possessed. The extent at which the shroud hang over the entire field, with such an oppressive density of magic and the fact that the particles were so strongly manipulated to the point that it would not be easy reversing the spell were one of the many indicators of both the strength and ruthlessness that Aldous' hidden adversary was willing to go.

"Alright then. Time to spring your trap." Aldous muttered under his breath, his hands feeling for the revolvers in their holsters strapped to his belt. He might have to go a little slowly today, since it was also harvest season at the moment(which is why it brought so much attention) and he had no intention of ruining the crops at such a crucial time. 'Looks like Heavy Rain and Vorpal Stalagmite are out of the question,' Aldous thought to himself as he begun to step forward and into the open dirt path that parted the corn field, pulling out Magatama in readiness for what is to come. He did not want to get his vision obscured by the corn that reached up to the very top of his neck.

When he took his third step past the borders of the corn field, the magic around him begin to work.

"CORN COB CANNON!" The sound was coming from his right. Aldous instinctively rolled forward, just as out of the corn-field to his right, a torrent of little yellow pellets (no prize for guessing what they are) broke through the wall, the speed at which the corn was fired flattening the plants that were in her way. 'Such a waste,' Aldous thought spitefully

"CORN COB CANNON, NO.2!" Realizing it was coming from his left this time, Aldous quickly concluded that there was more than one enemy moving through the fields, before he pressed his body flat onto the ground as a another stream of corn sailed right over his head, just inches away from hitting them with their over-sized bodies. As he remained prone under the ground, Aldous turned his head such that he could stare left and underneath the fire of corn, to see the source of these attacks. All he could see was a giant yellow stump of a foot, perforated with what looked like scales, though from this distance, Aldous was not too sure. However....."How obvious and vulnerable....Looks like you can't move while firing off corn like that." Aldous murmured under his breath, as his left arm stretched out, with the Magatama revolver in hand and ready for action.

Aldous let off two quick shots that he could manage with one hand alone, black fist-sized comets hurtling straight into the body of whatever was trying to smother him with groceries. As an inhuman cry, wierdly deep yet also high-pitched, pierced the air and the deafening  roar of flying corn came to an end, Aldous took the brief respite to roll himself so that he could aim with his other revolver. As smoke, smouldering from the wounds of the first two shots, obscured his view, all Aldous could see when he shot his third shot was that oval-shaped shadow straightening up and then falling onto the ground.

"NO. 2!" It was incredible, how fast those things could move. When the one he had shot had just barely touch the ground, through the smoke, Aldous could discern four other oval-shaped entities looking over their fallen comrade. Great, one down, four to go, Aldous thought. Not as tough as he had feared.

That was before he spotted one of the entities barrelling straight for him, the corn cob pushing itself off like a bullet out of a barrel.

"Well shit," Aldous cursed. Purgatory could only cackle at the back of his mind, amused at the sight of their enemies.

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 7:19 am

"You got to be kidding me!" Aldous shouted as his instincts instructed him to immediately activate Seal Floater, enhancing his body speed just enough that he dived right under the giant cob body aiming for him. At the same time, he holstered the Magatama, realizing that these things were too fast to avoid close-combat. "I'll just have to use their speed against them!" Aldous felt the irritation coiling inside him at being forced to dodge so much. Looks like he will have to bust out Penance.

"Eat this, you mage!" "NEVER!" Rejecting his vegetables, Aldous pushed himself right off the ground and into the air, such that the second corn cob aiming for him dived just below his floating chest under the influence of Seal Floater. Reaching for the giant casket that has been hanging off his shoulders and against his hip, Aldous was able to open the thing up before he realized that the third corn cob had struck him right in the chest. "Argh!" Aldous felt his stomach flip under the sudden pressure, but crushing the pain out with a will, he stayed on, pulling himself off the cob's blunt point so that he would be not be dragged away by their momentum. He then reached for the open casket.

"ARGH! HE CUT MY COB!" The third corn demon screamed from no mouth that Aldous could see, but the red corn pellets that were supposedly its eyes were now crossed in pain, its lower butt having been cleaning cleaved right off by the massive greatsword that Aldous now held in his hands, its blue sheen brilliant in the light, as it always has been. As the third demon now escaped away from Aldous, he jammed his feet into the ground, realizing that it had completely knocked him out of Seal Floater and had pushed him ten metres into the field. Thankfully(or not for the villages), the corn demon's barrages had flattened the plants, so Aldous was not particularly obscured.

Which made it all the more easier for him to turn in time for the fourth demon doing its turn against him. As the two-metre tall cob left the ground and zipped through the air, Aldous readied his stance, lowering his body to improve his centre of gravity, while timing himself in his head to make sure that Penance, leaning against his shoulder, would be able to strike the cob head-on.

"No," Aldous replied in a cold tone, icy enough that his own hairs stood on ends. As the cob reached that point that he wanted, Aldous immediately weaved himself to the side, all the while swinging out Penance, such that its edge replaced Aldous at where he originally was. "You die...," Aldous commanded as the corn, screaming and unable to stop itself, was forced to bifurcate itself from end to end, with Penance cleanly dividing the fruit into two. As the dead halves sailed past him, Aldous noticed from the corner of his eyes that the cob demon was rotting away as it died, its essence seeping into the ground before he could stop it. "Great, looks like more might COME!" Aldous felt his mind shout the last word as he side-stepped one of the corn cob demons that had refired itself as a bullet at him. He was getting a feel for their speed, but as a shadow cast down over him, Aldous realized that it was not just speed that they have.

"POW!" The cob demon falling from the sky cheered as he fell down right on top of Aldous. "THIS IS FOR CUTTING MY COB-Wha?" It also fell right on top on the point of Penance, the blade piercing right through its corny interior. "Thanks," Aldous groaned, his body flattened on to the ground by the weight of the corn over him. While the corn had injured itself, he was also not unscathed, his back having taken quite a hit from the fall.

"CORN COB CANNON!" But this was no time for moaning and shaking. Jumping up onto his feet, Aldous gritted his teeth against the weight of the still alive corn cob Demon, lifting it up such that it could only hang in the air, helpless and pierced on the Penance's blade. "You have a strong body," Aldous complimented to the surprised demon, ignoring its pleas for mercy as he then swung Penance around, such that when the demon was pulled off from the blade by centrifugal force, its body was smack-dab in the path  of the Corn Cob Cannon exhaled by the Demon that had stayed back. It vanished into a mist of rot under the hail.

It was then that Aldous realized that the body was not strong enough.

"Oi! Oi! Get up! That's all it is going to take to beat you down!?" Purgatory was yelling in his head. As if he had not done so all of the time. "Shut up," Aldous spat a trickle of blood to the side, the blue-and-black bruises peppered across his body still hurting like hell. The Corn Corn Cannon had been more powerful than he had anticipated, powerful enough that even the Corn Cob Demons themselves were too weak to stop their own attack. Half-sprawled on the ground, in the midst of a pile of corn flattened by the Cannon, Aldous wondered whether he should go for it and just forget about the crops. "Maybe...maybe...," Aldous admitted to himself, picking himself up while using Penance as support.

"But perhaps, if I can destroy these things without such widespread destruction, the trapper might decide to face me on directly," Aldous thought to himself, just as, with his numb body not even giving any complaints, he could hear the incoming roar of two Corn Cob Cannons came at him simultaneously from opposite directions, the two Demons standing 10 meters away from him, no doubt wary of Penance.

'Just as well...' Aldous could almost feel himself snigger as a sphere made out of three black rings criss-crossing one another formed at the base of his right foot. Turning his body towards the Demon on the left, Aldous felt the world stretch before him as Formula #20: Bringer Dark shot him forward towards his target, shifting him right past the Cannon that that demon was exhaling. "Here I am," Aldous teased as he skidded against the ground, controlling his momentum such that he slowed right in front of the demon, just enough to bear enough speed to send Penance rapidly smacking the corn where its chin would be in a graceful upward swing with the flat of its blade. Pushed back by  the sudden force, the Demon stumbled backwards a little, its Cannon consequently sailing upwards as the Cob tilted back.

Realizing that the pain was beginning to energize his body, Aldous could almost describe himself dancing towards the side, just in time for the other Corn Corn Cannon, no longer opposed by the first, to completely engulf the stumbling Demon.

"One more," Aldous thought to himself.

"D-DAMN YOU! DIIAAAEEEE!!" Shaking with grief, the last demon begun to flop its body forward, such that it was beginning an accelerating cartwheel towards the watching Aldous, undoubtedly trying to roll him over with its big yellow body.

"Your Cannon is more powerful than that...." Aldous sighed in disappointment, sticking Penance into the ground to free up his hands. As the Demon reached the 10 metre mark away from Aldous, the black-haired man narrowed his eyes in cold-blooded focus, the Amaterasu Regalia: Magatama Revolvers pointed menacingly at their closing enemy. "This is my Cannon," Aldous stated as he fired both Revolvers simultaneously, the extreme recoil sending his forearms to fly up in order to compensate. The black, smog-like shots of the Magatama's Dirty Shots zipped through the air and the first one at the front smacked into the cob at its top front, such that the revolution of its cartwheeling was instantly slowed by the impact of the first shot. As the Demon screamed in pain, cursing Aldous to a thousand hells, the second shot, the most crucial, hit at the very blunt point of the cob, when it was parallel to the ground. This had the effect of completely slamming the Demon right out of its circular motion, sending its ponderous body towards the dirt, such that the opposite end of the corn had drilled straight into the ground, trapping the wretched being.

"Wait, wait..." Realizing the danger it was in, the Corn Cob Demon was on the verge to plea, but before it could say another word, Aldous shot one last shot at it. The final Dirty Shot pierced right through the cob from end-to-end and as that deep yet high voice snapped off, the corn instantly rotted away, though this time, much to what was left of Aldous' curiosity, the rotting essence ascended into the air and dissipated, rather than return to the ground as like the others.

"Perhaps, if I fight long enough," Aldous could barely comprehend the possibility but it was worth a try, "The curse might wear itself out.'

    Boing! Boing!

"Tomatoes?" Aldous could almost slap himself in the face, while Purgatory was now bellowing in his laughter at the sight of the ten blood-red fruits that had rose up from the ground, formed by the solidification of that rotting essence that Aldous had last seen. They were bulbous, disgusting things, the fluids within their one-meter tall bodies visibly swirling as they rolled around, with six of them heading straight at Aldous with accelerating speeds, though Aldous noted that they were much, much slower than the Cobs. "WE ARE GONNA ROLL YOU UP INTO A MEAT-ROLL!"

"Trash-talkers. Must be pretty weak," Aldous murmured to himself as he holstered Magatama and replaced Penance back into its carry case. As they rolled and rolled towards him, Aldous noticed that they are beginning to push against one another, their expletives now being directed at each other rather than Aldous.

"Easy pickings," Aldous stated out-loud, just in time for the six tomatoes now bowling a few meters away to hear it. They did not take to the insult well, "DID YOU JUST PUN US!?", and came in with even more fury behind their bulging bodies.

What they did not see was that Aldous had long vanished. Taking off with the second half of his Bringer Dark spell, Aldous forced that now familiar shiver of muscle strain down and as he stopped himself at his new position to the very side of the nice and vulnerable line of 6 tomato Demons, Aldous pointed four fingers towards them and purple dots appeared at their tips.

The term "skewered over-ripe tomato" could not begin to describe the six disintegratingcorpses of the 6 Demons, the four Breach Lines perforating them as if they were marshmallows to a stick. When he saw the outcome, Aldous knew that four Breach Lines was over-kill against such weak demons, but against a line of bodies, he could not be any more careful.

Aldous Focusine: A Wizard's Grace (Solo) Empty Re: Aldous Focusine: A Wizard's Grace (Solo)

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 8:30 am

"Looks like we will need some paste to fix them up," Aldous suddenly realized that the words had escaped his mouth before he could stop them. In his mind, he scowled at Purgatory, who snickered at the joke that he had managed to insert. Thankfully, Purgatory only managed to do something harmless at the moment, but from now on, Aldous realized, as he turned back towards the remaining tomatoes, that he cannot allow him to take over until he needed his strength.

"YOU THINK SEASON IS OVER? WATCH THIS!" Aldous' eyes narrowed as the four tomatoes formed a line, their mouths puffing up to build up whatever those tomatoes wanted to fire at him. "Let me guess..." Aldous could almost roll his eyes; they were too predictable. "TOMATO JUICE CANNONS!"

But predictability does not always mean non-lethality. That was what Aldous noticed at the concentrated spurt of red juice that he could slicing through the field grounds when the first tomato had its target completely way off. Having dropped his guard too early, Aldous scowled at the danger he was going to be in as he pulled out the Magatama revolvers, though instead of holding them like guns, he held them at their large, flat stocks. As the first two streams came, Aldous raised the revolvers such that the streams hit the revolver's stocks at a deflecting angle, the concentrated juice now losing that high-pressure that made it lethal, not even able to make a scratch on the strong revolvers.. But he only had two revolvers and there were three Cannons.

And so, all Aldous could do for the last one, was to bite his tongue and deal with the sudden explosion of static emanating from the cut created in his left side. 'Looks like time is of the essence now,' Aldous spoke between heavy panting, twitching a little at the sight of blood beginning to seep out of his open wound.

And then, he heard more boings. More than ever before. "You have got to be joking," Aldous murmured in half-denial as he turned his head reluctantly back towards the enemy. Sure enough, ten more rotten tomatoes had sprouted out from the soil, yelling ever more trash-talk as they huddled together, taking safety in strength of numbers.

"Looks like I'll have to finish them all off at once, before they start to overwhelm," Aldous stated with  a tone of determined finality, as he extended his arms and swung them about in a circle, ignoring the pain that throbbed his left side while he moved. "Eat this," Aldous glared towards the crowd of tomatoes, as the bicircular and lowly groaning seal of Vorpal Stalagmite materialized before him, looming over the now silent tomatoes like the black face of an unmoving ship-crushing cliff. The field they were on had been the scene of battle for many exchanges, so Aldous rationalized that since it was ruined anyway, he might as well do it.

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 7:19 pm

"Hehe, what are you going to do to us, fool?" One of the tomatoes yelled out at Aldous in obvious bravado, as the crowd of fourteen begun to bunch even more tightly together, with some on top of the others, forming a multi-storied firing line . 'Yes, just get closer to one another..." Aldous muttered, too soft for them to hear, not that they would listen anyway.

"READY! AIM!" Aldous has had quite enough of having to deal with these mooks; he brought his swung-out arms back together, slapping their palms together such that he was aiming straight at the wall of tomatoes. The Vorpal Stalagmite seal in front of him shrunk such that the outer circle overlapped with the inner one, while intricate runes that were initially between the two circles now danced about the outer one in a ring, pulsing with energy. "TOMATO JUICE CANNON!" Aldous squeezed his hands even tighter and the seal shattered.

In an instant, the tomato wall , all fourteen of the juicy things, was swallowed by the 7-metre tall Vorpal Stalagmite, the sin-black cone of power ripping through the tomatoes as if they were never there. The ghostly howls of souls slaughtered by the soul intermixed with the screams of the truly dying, creating an eerie vocal orchestra that has always sent shivers into the very marrow of Aldous' bones. As he had expected, the Stalagmite completely wiped out the field beneath it, blending corn plant bits and rotting tomato from its targets into a irksome juice. It would continue on for a while (OOC: for the next 2 posts) and as Aldous felt his bangs get picked up by the whipping winds forced out by the cone, he remained silent at the sight of the spell. The Formula had taken more lives than just tomatoes. Some that Aldous knew were best left unsaid.

As he turned towards the rest of the corn fields around him, Aldous scanned the grounds for enemies. Though he could not hear any movement due to the Stalagmite's otherworldly singing overhead, the first two types of enemies he had fought were not exactly hard-to-see with their huge vegetable bodies. Perhaps the trap had re-adjusted itself to a more stealthy, cunning approach or maybe, Aldous hoped, he had killed the last batch too quickly for the trap to recover enough for another wave just yet. Either way, as he eyed the nearest corn crops, they were still marred with the symptoms of the curse placed upon them, so his ordeal was not yet over. "Might as well," Aldous assured himself as the cut in his side gave him an pang of pain that he could not ignore, emanating through him like fire. Kneeling down, Aldous pressed his hand at his sides and the warm dampness he felt made him decide that he had best treat the wound, lest he risk bleeding out.

Aldous Focusine: A Wizard's Grace (Solo) Empty Re: Aldous Focusine: A Wizard's Grace (Solo)

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 7:29 pm

Letting down Penance's carry case hanging off his shoulders, Aldous grunted as he sat himself on top of the case, using it as a make-shift chair. In his time at the Grimoire Heart airship, many of the books he had read were on the wonderful art of analysing the human body and the ailments that will inevitably beset it. At the same time, while the gruesome art of dissection had its own graces, Aldous had been more interested in the practise of treating said ailments. At the moment, the words of Professor. Moriat, Kelvin Hob, Yuji Tatsuki and many other practitioners of healing were now speaking to him in his mind, as Aldous begun to gather and cross-reference all of the information he had gathered on the matter of treating a simple cut. As his mind did its magic, so did his body, listening closely to the instructions his mind gave out and with its delicate fingers, used the dexterity that he had used in drawing seals to now slowly close the cut on his side, putting firm pressure onto the area so that he could stifle the bleeding, while at the same time tying a bandage (a guildless wanderer never walks without one) around his waist sides so that he would not need his hands to continue applying pressure in the fight that he knew was coming.

"Now then," Aldous winced a little as he picked himself up. His brief period of rest had washed out any remaining adrenaline in his body and he had not noticed it before, but the numbing effects of the fight-and-flight chemical had really helped in keeping him alert and keeping the pain out of his mind. It does not matter that much though; he'll get it running through him again eventually. "Looks like I'll have to use you again, Penance." Aldous whipped out the sword, just as corn plants begun to bunch together, their growing stems spiralling and tightening around one another into unmistakable sharp-oval shapes.

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 8:34 pm

"COB BULLET!" Aldous bit his lower lip as he deliberately fell backwards in the middle of his run, his boots turning fresh soil in his skid across the ground, while two massive Corn Cob body shot over him. At the sight of an opportunity, Aldous swung Penance up, slashing one of the Demons, sending a stream of magical essence spewing out from the deep cut. 'Not yet. Will need more than that to take one down,' Aldous reminded himself of the toughness that these demons possessed.

"CORN CORN CANNON!" "Tch." Aldous counted himself lucky for having enemies who keep shouting out their attack names. He had gotten rid of that stupid urge a long time ago. Pushing himself off the ground, Aldous sent himself into a somersault, out of the way of the corn wave that demolished the few plants that were left in the corn field they were in. Luckily he had managed to isolate the battle to just one field, so the damage to the villagers' livelihood was not as bad as it could have been. "COB BULLET!"

"Too slow," Aldous retorted at the fourth Corn Cob Demon, Cloud Penance ready in hand to bisect this foolish one. "STOP!" And then something fell out of the sky.

Just before Aldous could swing Cloud Penance, the fifth Corn Cob Demon had flopped itself into the air, allowing it to slam down on the fourth Demon, stopping its suicidal charge with the assistance of gravity. As the force of the fall caused the fourth Demon to give a gasp of pain, Aldous could only spit in disgust as he decided to make the best out of this, sending Penance  into a horizontal swing, giving the fifth Corn Cob Demon a essence-leaking cut. It was nothing compared to the cut that would have resulted if he had used the fourth Demon's speed against it, but it will have to do.

"Teamwork. They've learned," Aldous chided himself as he quickly leapt back from the fifth Demon flipping itself towards him, the giant Cob squashing what little plants remained at the spot Aldous was a second ago. Looks like he is going to have to pull out more stops to take on this new wave of Corn Cob Demons, who now, recovering themselves, begun to circle around him, the distances between them irregular, so that when they fire the Corn Corn Cannons Aldous knew was coming, they would have no chance to hitting each other.

    "Want help?" Purgatory offered.

"Not yet," Aldous rebuked it, putting Cloud Penance back into its carry case, freeing his hands for his Amaterasu Formula Magic.

Aldous Focusine: A Wizard's Grace (Solo) Empty Re: Aldous Focusine: A Wizard's Grace (Solo)

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 8:52 pm

The five Demons around him inhaled, taking in deep breaths. Here they come. "CORN COB CANNON!" Ignoring their shouts, Aldous instead focused on taking note of each of their positions around him. 'Seal Floater,' he thought to himself, just as the Demons exhaled out that dangerous attack of theirs. As he felt his body lighten under the levitation effects, Aldous put his legs to work as he pushed himself off the ground in as strong a jump as he can possibly make. Spiralling through the air, Aldous just barely managed to make it out of the slaughter site, with a few new bruises forming on him on all sides, as his flesh smarted at the impact of the few pellets that he dodged a little too late.

'No matter, I can still do this,' Aldous assured himself, as he spun his arms around to halt his body's spiralling. At the same time, unbeknownst to the Corn Corn Demons, the moment Aldous had swung his arms, he had sent out two Formula #8: Breach Disk out of their field of view, the two disks set to home in two of the three injured Corn Cob Demons from behind. At the same time, taking advantage of the fact that they cannot move in the middle of their Cannons, Aldous extended his fingers out, pointing two of them on his right towards two Demons and three on his left towards three Demons, one for each. Dots shimmered and glowed before their tips.

"ARGH!" All five of the Demons gave out a wail of both fury and pain as the Breach Lines pierced their  bodies, leaving pencil-thin holes that smoked from the heat and the leaking essence. A year of practise in the airship had paid off for his accuracy, Aldous noted with a little bit of pride.  As the Demons struggled up, recovering from their new wounds, Aldous could almost feel Purgatory smirk inside him as two Demons suddenly exploded to little bits, the Breach Disks having met their marks and erupted into their combustion waves, engulfing the remains of their targets in a funeral wreath of black hellish flames.

Aldous could also feel that same smirk coming onto him as the Corn Cob Demons turned towards the outside of the circle, undoubtedly wondering for a moment where the attacks had come from and whether they are now facing against more than one enemy. Their looking away left an opening that Aldous was all too willing to exploit.

Aldous Focusine: A Wizard's Grace (Solo) Empty Re: Aldous Focusine: A Wizard's Grace (Solo)

Post by TacticalFallacy 17th March 2014, 9:30 pm

"Here we go," Aldous wished himself luck, as he used Seal Floater's provided speed to send him hurtling down at the more injured Corn Cob Demon of the three. As the Corn Cob Demon turned to see what is up, Aldous had already unsheathed Cloud Penance and with a mighty cry, cleaved his target into two already disintegrating halves. The fact that the rotten particles were ascending into the sky was not lost on him. 'Looks like the curse is close to breaking,' Aldous wondered hopefully, as he hurriedly shifted his hopes aside and turned his attention to the Corn Cob Demons who are now having the realization of a trick dawning on them slowly. "Aren't they slow?" Purgatory laughed, while Aldous spun his body around and near the end of his spin, hurled Cloud Penance point-first straight into one of the Demons, the massive greatsword chewing greedily into the very centre of the Cob's mass. All the Demon could do was gasp in pain as its endurance just barely managed to keep it alive, but that ended soon enough as Aldous whipped out the Magatama Revolvers and sent a Dirty Shot between those red corn pellets that were its eyes.

"COB BULLET!" Damn, he was still too slow. Aldous gritted his teeth in readiness for the pain to come as the fifth Corn Cob Demon, crying in an almighty mourning to its fallen companions, fired itself straight into Aldous' abdomen, the force behind its body pushing the air out of his lungs. Knocked out of breath and sent flying back, Aldous concentrated on using Seal Floater to keep him slightly aloft, such that he was willingly moving his body along with the Corn Cob Demon, preventing it from further skewering him on its end. Also....

Aldous pressed the barrels of the Magatama Revolvers against the pellet-covered skin of the Demon. It gave a questioning "Huh?". "Checkmate," Aldous replied as he fired two point-blank shots straight into the Demon, using his Seal Floater at the last minute to pull himself straight down to the ground, releasing from the momentum of the Demon's bullet, while his head, laid comfortably against a pillow of flattened crops, arched its neck back to see the satisfying scene of the last Demon disintegrating into rotten particles. However, Aldous cringed when he saw that this time, the particles went straight to the ground.

    "More, huh?" He sighed.

"You know you are getting tired..." Purgatory whispered to him, a malevolent grin across its face. He wanted to push it out, but as his eyes frowned shut in his attempt to push out the lingering pain on his torso from the last attack, Aldous knew that Purgatory was right. His body is aching from bruises all over, the cut on his side was bleeding through the bandage due to his over-exertion and as he slowly removed it off him, he does not have much more of Seal Floater left. He could still use Bringer Dark but in this state, he does not know whether his body could take it. His eyes narrowed at the corn crops bunching together again, now knowing full well that another wave of those Corn Cob Demons are on the way. His eyes nervously peered towards Cloud Penance, the greatsword sticking out from the ground where the Corn Cob Demon it had speared had fallen. Can he make the distance? Against the Tomato Demons, he might have a chance, but speed is of the essence against those Cobs.

Either speed or just raw power. Power that Purgatory could easily provide. Giving out a resigned sigh as he spotted the first Corn Cob Demon rise up from the ground, Aldous begun to initiate the process, emptying himself of whatever magical particles was still in there. "Do it," Aldous murmured to the cold, frosty flow of Purgatory filling up the void.

"With pleasure," Purgatory smiled, physically this time, as he flexed his arms, always so easily amused by the feeling of being in control of a physical body. Aldous could only sit back and wait on the Throne of Chains that locked him away in his own mind, while the pink sigils of Maguility Sense was already forming around his wrist.

"Yo boys," Purgatory waved a hello towards the warily approaching Demons, the Cobs unsure of what to do at the sudden change in the atmosphere around their enemy. Spotting their caution, Purgatory flashed a wolfish grin and laughed, giving out an unbridled snort of pure amusement bursting out of his nose. "Well, aren't you guys just so polite? Coming so close to me that I could just reach out and wring the ears out of you."

Instantly, the Cob Demons halted themselves and leapt back, though they cannot comprehend why they were so sure that Purgatory could touch them from twenty meters away. They all exchanged looks of worry, unsure of what to do with this new....thing that was in front of them, bellowing away at the sight of them cowering before him. "Oh man, you really are scared stiff. It was almost like you were gonna shit all your pellets out if I say 'BOO'." Purgatory covered his mouth to stifle another uncontrollable bout of laughter.

"Who are-" The lead Corn Cob Demon wanted to say something, but Purgatory instantly moved towards it, his physical prowess allowing him to make the distance in a single step, popping right in front of the Demon like a jack in a box. The Cob immediately jumped in fright, recoiling away from the sneering Purgatory, while the others slowly turned towards him, unable to comprehend how a mere human could move so fast.

"You know the answer, don't you?" Purgatory teased, "You can feel it, can't you?" And then two of the Corn Cob Demons, including the one right in front of him, were without their tops.

"WHAT?!" The others cried in shock, throwing themselves back and hopefully out of the reach of the massive gray right arm that had extended itself out from an equally giant shroud of energy surrounding the grinning Purgatory. In the arm's hand was an enlarged version of Cloud Penance, a vicious weapon, with the original sword already back in Purgatory's hand, thanks to a little limb that he had secretly extended out to retrieve the sword while using himself as a distraction.

"He used Cloud Penance as a template to create a weapon for that giant of his," Aldous observed from his mind. As Purgatory twirled Cloud Penance easily in one hand(something Aldous could not do), giving out amused hoots of laughter, Aldous noticed that by basing his construction on  a real weapon, and a well-made one at that, Purgatory had enhanced the power of his Spirit Warrior's weaponary, made evident by the disintegrating bodies of the unlucky Demons caught in Purgatory's surprise attack. 'He's improved,' Aldous concluded. He had not been aware that Purgatory had been training the usage of his Spirit Warrior during their year at the airship wreck. 'What else do you have up your sleeve?' Aldous wondered suspiciously. At the same time, if he was to make another conclusion, it would be this: None of the other Demons are going to last for long.
