Job Location: Phoenix Mountains
Job Description: One of Oak Towns many historians is paying extremely handsomely for what may be one of the rarest magical items in existence. The feather of a phoenix; and he will allow the wizard who brings it too him to keep it after he has but one night too study it in his own home; after said time he shall fashion you a necklance of your choosing sporting the legendary plume. Said to hold the mystical power of rebirth within each feather; the Phoenix is likely the rarest magical creature in existence.
Said to only appear once every 7,000 years in the Phoenix Mountains that were cristened by the cave men of old with their name; the Phoenix is the lifes work of many scientists, historians, and wizards alike. Books on it fill children's shelves in childish bedtimes stories.
Truly a marvel.
Standing at the size of a God; the Phoenix is a startling 500 feet into the air from the bottom of it's talons to the crest when perched straight up. His wingspan? Is 1,000 feet in both directions. Enough to black out the skies above Godzilla.
As you feel a prescence like the tug of your soul; you step over a certain horizon in the mountains. The air itself is orange; as heat waves dance now madly.
The air itself burns around this titanic being. If he was standing in New York City; Skyscrapers would be burning away from him. Flames constantly flicker around him.
"Ah, once every 7,000 years those deemed Archmages, Warriors of Legend and Paragons seem to find me." the voice is so deep; it's like the base is way too loud in a car; and seems to vibrate the mountains itself. Along with your inner magic power seeming to go wild an uncontrollable inside of yourself; a thrilling feeling. "Come now." the mountains shake "Show me what this age has to offer." as the Phoenix spreads it's wings over the span of two mountains; flames rip through the skies, that coat over from blue to orange and burns with random patches of flames. For seven miles in all directions in the Phoenix Mountains.
The skies over the Eclipse Soul; Guild Hall---are orange and apocalyptic in harmless beauty as the flames dance above in a once every seven thousand years opportunity to behold.
Enemies:
Boss
Note: None of the Phoenix's flames can be consumed by any type of Slayer; as they are Celestial Flames of unknown composition and make up. His fire seems to glitter a bit like starlight.
'Sky Rain' - (H-Ranked) - The Phoenix every 3 turns will open it's titanic wings in the skies; and fly stylishly into the skies like a jet bomber over the mountain range where his target(s) are. The heavens open up behind the orange clouds as nothing short of what could be described as 'a rain of flame' bombards the Phoenix Mountains, as the Phoenix whirls around in barrel rolls above. Make a Single Block Roll every 3 posts.
If you fail this roll, you will be bombarded for H-Ranked damage, (15% HP).
'Song' - The Phoenix spreads it's wings and coo's a mighty song that can be heard from outside the Phoenix Mountains. The song is so beautiful that the moment it is sung; you get extremely drowsy. All movement enhancement buffs and any spell or spell effect that increases movement speed are disabled and or nullified; and set on Cooldown. You remain sleepy for 3 posts. Make a Single Block Roll every 10 posts.
If you fail; you hear the song loud and clear and fall under it's effects. If you succeed; you see it coming and understand what's about to happen; and with focus; you aren't affected in any way other than the song soothing your mind and body. Recovering 20% HP and 20% MP.
'New Age' - The Phoenix howls at the top of his lungs; vibrating the air, and shaking nearly the entire mountain range. The howl can be heard all around Fiore; signaling the dawn of the new Era. The roar seems to last forever; and has a mental effect of uncanny magnitude; most who witness this roar at point blank range are paralyzed with fear, and majesty; usually kneeling to the Phoenix in defeat. Make a single Block Roll every 15 posts.
Note: If you fail, your concentration, confidence and moral will take a MAJOR hit as the Phoenix seems to have shaken you to your very core. All spells will cost TWICE as much MP for those affected by the howl of the New Age for their 3 posts. Those who succeed in defending find a will equivalent to that of a God within themselves; and can no longer be affected by New Age throughout the rest of the battle.
'Giga Crush' - (H-Ranked) - The Phoenix steams the air with increased temperature and squalls loudly, with one titanic stomp of it's stadium sized talon; it breaks the entire mountain environment out of the thousands in the Phoenix Mountain the party is currently standing on / in. The explosion is one of magma, wind, and rock; so colossal; you can see it from the grasslands of Fiore in the mountain range. Make a Single Block Roll every 20 posts.
If you fail, you will be reduced take 50% HP period. If you are already below half HP when this happens; you are done for and KOed; likely thrown down the mountain to your doom.
'Wing Beat' - (S-Ranked) - The Phoenix shrouds itself in it's wings, as flames churn around it's massive body like an inferno for a split moment. As the 1000 foot wingspan is whipped openend; an S-Ranked burst of Wind Damage; followed by an immediate wave of S-Ranked Fire Damage (10% HP) coats over the entire area at a roaring howl. From far away; it appears as if a giant plume of flame and wind leap up in the combat area of the Phoenix Mountains.
The Phoenix triggers a Wing Beat each time you roll a Damage Die and / or attack him with a Spell Effect and a 'Miss' shows up. He can and will Wing Beat you back multiple times in one turn if you miss too much.
'Phoenix Lift' - (H-Ranked) - The Phoenix howls once; and burst into the skies kicking up an S-Ranked push back effect of Wind on the ground where he took off. He is so fast; he looks like a rising inferno. Out of sight for a few moments; all is quiet until an ear splitting squall breaks the area. The Phoenix appears for a surprise attack through the clouds and breaths out the most immense amount of Fire one can imagine. It looks like a literal pool of fire; or a flaming tsunami.
Note: The Phoenix will trigger a Phoenix Lift when someone remains in the air during their next post after activating a Spell Effect that allows them to fly. Each turn you remain airborne; roll a Single Block. If you fail; the Phoenix careens out of nowhere in the skies through the clouds, and scorches you for H-Ranked damage (30%HP). Sending you tumbling upwards, downwards, or backwards carried on flame as he passes you by at an air shaking buzz ; you fall like a burning leaf from a tree. If you are flying at the beginning of any post; the Phoenix will attempt to Phoenix Lift you during that post. He will use this on multiple flying opponents once per turn if they're all flying.
'Reincarnation' - After delivering 10 hits of S-Ranked damage to the Phoenix; it will reincarnate in a HUGE mountain sweeping burst of H-Ranked flame. Everyone Will Make a Single Block Roll upon each Phoenix death at the beginning of ther next post.
If you fail, you will be scorched for 50% HP period. But strangely enough; you feel your magic power rise by 50% as the Phoenix's flames of reincarnation wash over you. You feel like you've been hit by a train of flames, yet you're high on magic. Odd.
Note: If you dodge, or defend against the Reincarnation burst of flame; you not only are healed for 50% MP, but 50% HP as well as the flames pass over you harmlessly.
Note: The only way to superceed the 100 post limit is by making the Phoenix Reincarnate 10 times and surviving. When he reborn for the 10th time in the titan like boom of flames; his flames will do no damage as his voice quakes the mountains but once "Enough."; and heal you and the entire Phoenix Mountains back into pristine condition as the orange skies part above. His respect earned; you feel a wave of warmth and happiness from the godlike being. He will then majestically kneel with respect to the entire group; deciding to bless this era with however many of his feather plumes that the group is numbered in. Each person is allowed to pluck one feather from this legend. Finishing the Job with only the 100 post limit will reward you with the XP from a 100YR job, but not the Phoenix Necklace. The only way to get it, is by either making him ressurect 10 times; or completing the 200 post, non-combat option.
Reward: 200k Jewels & The Phoenix Necklace (Revives the wearer to perfect condition once per thread / fight when KOed or Killed)

Re: Phoenix Fire
Prologue
Stories tell of a creature so magnificent that it shined as brightly as the stars in the sky, a creature who was the bearer of the most purest of flames. A holy fire that exceeded even the flame that burned passionately inside the dragons.
This magnificent beast is known as the Phoenix, a bird like creature that stands at the centre of many myths and fables. But all these stories seemed to have on connection with each other, one constant that links them all together into one truth. The stories tell that the Phoenix is so divine that it doesn't live ins the mortal realms, but instead that it has found it's homestead in the land of the gods. Where it spread his wings freely and fly into the sky with all it's beauty.
But once every seven thousand years it would come down to the mortal realm and watch what the world had to offer.
So the stories would tell of kings and mages, knights and heroes and even farmers who would travel the land in search of that famed creature. Some in order to test their skills with it, while others searched it so that they could bath in the wisdom and knowledge that the creature had to offer. These heroic stories told about bravery and vigilance. A show of determination, but that were only the stories that were being told by the bards. None would tell the other stories, stories without heroes. Stories where the villain searched for the winged legend.
But who could blame them, nobody would tell stories were people searched for a creature only so that they could gain power or find immortality. Stories filled with bloodshed and dark desires.
So you see throughout history there are many tales of people who sought the bird, and even in this day of age. There were still people who sought for even the slightest clue that could lead them to the bird. Even those who had fallen into darkness...

Re: Phoenix Fire
A small oil lamp shed a flickering light over a desk, revealing different kinds of text and drawings that were carefully written on old scrolls and ancient books. It was the only visible spot in an otherwise completely dark room. And behind the desk sat a man, bend over with his head towards the whatever was written on it.
As for that man, he was completely shrouded under his hooded cloak and nothing besides the tip of his chin was visible. Even his hands were covered by a black silk pair of gloves. This was Lord Frederick, the enigmatic guild master of 'the Reformed Savage Skull'. A man who is being consumed by the sole purpose of his life. His never ending quest to find a way to bring back his fiancee from the dead. And so he would spent most of his time researching through various documents, scroll and books. Hoping to find an answer.
'Orange glow.. orange glow. No.. that's not it. Moon conjuring, no that won't explain it...'
Frederick's cold voice was rambling on while his finger followed the sentences of the several books he was reading. Well, reading wasn't the exact word for it. He was more scanning the the context for key words, anything that could give him the slightest explanation for a weird occurrence that was happening at the Phoenix Mountain.
Something he had read before, but back then he just tossed that idea a side. Thinking that it was nothing more then a bard's tale.
'Ah there it is. Orange tainted mountains..'
Frederick's rambling suddenly stopped when he had found what he was looking for, an old rhyme in a book filled with stories about immortality. Frederick's hand reached for the oil lamp where the fingers slowly grasped for the wick. And by turned it around it increased the light so that the short text became more clear in the imminent darkness.
At that moment Frederick knew that this couldn't be a coincidence, the mysterious orange glow in the phoenix mountains and this poem. It all fitted in perfectly to him, sure other would call it a gamble or desperation even. But that did't bothered him, it never did. He only cared about one thing, and was finding a way to bring back Cecilia. And there in the mountains laid the answer to that quest the legendary bird of rebirth. The Phoenix.

Flaring feathers burning bright,
All throughout the dark and heavy night.
Lighting the land with new beginnings,
Listen closely as The Phoenix sings;
"I breathe the fire of new life,
For those in defeating strife.
I will fight for man's desire,
Look for me within the fire."

Re: Phoenix Fire
Chapter 1
Unexpected encounters
Unexpected encounters
The moment Frederick had realized that there might be some truth in an old rhyme he had rushed out of office, grabbing only the essentials he needed for a journey. Which was only a satchel with some food and drink for the road. Along with the various scrolls that were laying on his desk.
But before he left the guild he had to make one quick stop at the office of his keeper, Aedre Crawford. A young but talented mage that used an ancient magic known as Dragon Slaying, but her looks were deceiving for she be as shrewd and calculative as he was. And there for the perfect candidate to uphold the guild in his absence.
As he opened the door to her office he saw her sitting behind a mahogany desk, which was decorated with bird like carvings. A pure work of craftsmanship, for every detail was so real as if it could come to live at any second.
As she turned her face towards him she raised her left eyebrow, showing that she found it odd that Frederick had came all the way down here.
'Keeper, I will be gone for about a month. Maybe more, and in my absence I expect that you will call the shots around here. Don't disappoint me.'
With that being said he turned around and walked away. Not even given her a chance to react. Not that it was needed off course, because she understood her responsibilities.
As Frederick walked out of the guild he could see the very first stage of his journey, a vast and enormous forest filled with marshes that surrounded his guild. This was the Spooky Forest, a dangerous and treacherous place. Well not the entire forest was dangerous, it was only how deeper you get in how more dangerous it would become. At first glance it would be like a normal forest, but the further you got you would start to notice that the light slowly starts to fade away. That it was unable to breach through the top of the trees. There the forest would become a dark and suffocating place, from there on out it that feeling of abandonment and despair would only increase. Until the land would take on another shape once again, the landscape of the forest would slowly change into a swamp. There will be even some open spots, a place where sunlight could actually reflect onto the surface. But those spots were to be avoided at all cost. Because those open spots only served as a trap to lure in any victim that was stupid enough to think they had reached a safe haven.
But they couldn't be more wrong, it was a hunting ground for the beasts that lurked here.

Re: Phoenix Fire
Frederick knew that it would take him at least a week to travel through this forest, but that was only because he knew which way he should take. If he didn't know this place at all, it might have taken months to get out of that place. And that was alone if he survived this place.
'At least ninety percent of the creatures in there don't pose a threat'
With that being said he stepped firmly into the tree line and disappeared into the darkness of the forest.
The first few days of traveling through the forest went by rather easy, and were mostly filled with only Frederick stepping forwards without even slowing down. At night however he mostly placed himself against a tree where he would let himself fall in some sort of semi sleep state, yet awake enough for him to notice if anything changed into his surroundings. It didn't gave him much rest, but he figured that when he reached the other side of the forest he could actually rest. Sure he could fall into a slumber while passing through, but it just wasn't worth the risk. After all there creatures in this dreaded place that even he could have trouble dealing with.
After a another four days of walking he finally had reached the other side of the Spooky Forest, and when he stepped out of the tree line he was being met by a bright sunlight. That revealed the vast and open grasslands that laid in front of the woods.
As Frederick stared over the sea of grass he pondered on what his next step should be.
'Hm the nearest town would be the Hunting Village where I could get some more supplies. And from there on out I can travel towards Clover Town.'

Re: Phoenix Fire
It sounded like a reasonable plan in his head, it would be only a three day walk from the hunting village to Clover Town and from there he could take the train towards Magnolia. But there was only one problem, Magnolia and Clover Town where the homes to two guilds. With mages that would surely attack him if they had even the slightest idea that he was near them.
But it was a risk he was willing to take, after all most of them were nothing compared to him.
After a few hours Frederick the hunting village, just in time for the sun to set under behind the horizon. It was a rather small village that mostly thrived as an outpost for hunters, and the only ones that actual lived here were the people who had some sort of establishment. But be that as it may it was still a village that was booming with life, after all these parts are famous hunting grounds that attracted people from all over Fiore. So it came to Frederick as no surprise that some of the taverns had all their rooms already rented out. But when he walked into the third and last tavern they told him that there was still a room left.
'It ain't much sweetie, but is has a good bed. Just a hundred jewels and it's yours for tonight'
In front of him stood the owner of this place, a woman in her forties who wasn't so bad for the eyes. Sure time had made her younger charms disappear. But the beauty this woman once had in her youth was still there.
'I'll take it then, and something to eat please.'
Frederick's usual cold voice seemed to have some sort effect on the woman, as reacted now in a more reserved way.
'Ehm.. alright then. Coming right up.'

Re: Phoenix Fire
A few moments later she came back brining him some kind of stew with some bread next to it. To which Frederick in return handed over some jewels.
While Frederick started to eat, he got a chance to look around the tavern. And he could conclude that this was not the finest establishment, no not at all. It was all rather cheap.
But what the lacked in appearance they made up in cooking apparently, for the stew that he was eating was actually a decent meal.
While he was eating the tavern started to get more patrons, mostly hunters who where here to get drunk after a hard day of work. And soon the chatter in the room was nothing more then men who were boasting about their kills, which was getting on Frederick's nerve. It was something what he always hated about these taverns, especially the ones in a small village. No if he was traveling he rather had some along the road inn where he could stay, a place that didn't attracted local drunks.
But as he was about to stand up and go to his room, his ears suddenly caught something interesting. A few table over there was group of hunters that talked about a particular subject.
'I'm telling you man, it's real! Why in hell would a guy pay so much money for it otherwise!'
'Because he's a lunatic off course. A crazy old fool who is desperate. I bet you could bring him the feather of a duck and he'd still believed it's from a Phoenix.'
'Real or not! I would love to have that birdie hang as a trophy on my wall'
'Oh shut it Barry, all you think about is having trophies on your wall.'
'Yeah, some of us are here to sell their meat ya know, and earn..... wadda ya want?!!'
The man suddenly focussed his attention towards Frederick, who had stood up from his chair and had walked over to their table.
'That man, you talked about. He is searching for this Phoenix? I need to know where I can find him.'
'Go away weirdo, I am telling you nothing. Bloody rookies, thinking they own the place! I mean aaaah!'
The man suddenly started grunting in pain as Frederick had laid his hand on the man's shoulder, and started to drain his life force away. And for a moment the four man at the table could see what for a man they were dealing with, as his dark aura became visible.
'That man..?!'
Frederick only uttered two words as a question as he knew that he didn't need any more then that.
'Allright allright! It's an archeologist in Clover Town. He is offering a lot of money for anyone who brings him a feather of this so called Phoenix!'
'Thank you...'

Re: Phoenix Fire
As Frederick released the man's shoulder he could hear him grasp for air, as if a weight was taken off him. While he self went up to his room, knowing that he had another stop to make before he would board the train.
'Hm an archeologist, he may have some insightful information that could be of some use. Not to mention his interest in that feather. Hmm, this man might be more interesting then he would let on'
The next day the first thing that Frederick did was buying some more supplies at the nearest store. Not that he needed much, just some food till he got to Clover Town. There he could buy enough supplies that would be more sufficing then the stuff here at this backwater village.
Once he bought all the necessaries he needed he quickly walked out of the town and stepped onto the vast grasslands that surrounded this place. And for a moment he was taking by the serenity that nature had to offer, as he saw a soft breeze of wind flow through the grass. It brought him back to a time before he was the guild master of Savage Skull, when he was still young and not fallen into depravity. He travelled the world back then, and saw some of the most wonderful places that nature had to offer. And at times those were the only moments that soothed him during his grief.
Quickly shaking off the train of thoughts Frederick marched forwards, not wanting to lose any more time then he already had. Because if news of an archeologists wanting a phoenix feather even reached on of these places. Then Frederick was sure of one thing, that he wouldn't be the only one with a peculiar interest in that feather. That there might be other just like him who would go after it.

Re: Phoenix Fire
Chapter 2
The archeologist
The archeologist
Clover Town, a city booming with live and home of the guild known Blue Pegasus. It's protector and benefactor, all through these parts the guild was famous for their good deeds and powerful mages. The town itself laid on an island in the middle of an enormous lake, on of those were you couldn't see the other side and it needed an entire day to reach it by boat.
Clover Town on the other hand was visible even if it was barely, and moving towards it Frederick could see several white sails at the horizon. Ships always seemed to be moving towards and away from the city.
Clover Towns port was a magnificent sight, and as Frederick's ships passed between the two gigantic statues he could see the true strength of this island city. A long and strong wall was build up around the entire port with only one entrance. Making sure that if there ever was a full scale invasion, that the enemy never could land their forces all at once. It was quite an impressive sight of engineering, and even with the help of mages it sure must have some time to build something like this.
As Frederick walked into the town after his ship ported, the first thing he noticed how different it was from the Hunting Village, as the main street in town was properly laid and not some sandy paths between several taverns and tents. But there was something that was a bit unsettling, well at least for a dark mage. Everywhere Frederick looked he could see the guild crest of Blue Pegasus hanging on every greek structural building. Mostly in the form of a banner.
Not that many of the mages that hold a grudge against Savage Skull could do something against Frederick, but that didn't include the few who held a S - rank status around here. Those could become quite problematic.

Re: Phoenix Fire
The streets of Clover Town was full of live, and it's own citizens were easily spotted between the many travelers that came here. Wearing a typical white clothing, easy tunics for the common folk and robes or long togas for scholars and city mages. But besides the inhabitants white clothing the streets were still a festivity of color as many mages traveled to this city, and against the white backgrounds of the building it gave of a colorful look.
But Frederick was on guard the entire time when he walked through these streets, after all he couldn't risked to be exposed here.
As he walked further down he saw a store that could provide him with all the needed essentials for a huge part of his journey. He quickly moved among the different stalls of the shop, and grabbed a variety of food and a water bag. He also got hold on a new and bigger satchel then the one he was currently wearing. Big enough for him to carry more essentials, Frederick even grabbed two bottle of wines. After all every man needed some luxury resources so now and then, especially if it wasn't in hands reach anymore.
But as he moved around a stall towards the counter, he dropped in onto a rather awkward conversation.
'4000 jewels! For an arrow quiver. That's a rip of!!'
In front of the counter, stood a young lady with her fist put in her sides. Clearly angry over the price. Which wasn't really that high according to Frederick. She clearly was trying to shave some of the amount.
The store owner on the other hand was just standing there smiling, unbothered by her attitude.
Suddenly the girl changed attitudes as her approach towards the man started to change. As she start to lean over the counter so that her cleavage became more visible. And with her right hand she started to play with a lock of hair. The voice that was angry at first had been traded for a more soothing and sensual voice'
'Aah.. but mister. I am sure we can fiddle in that price a lil' bit right? After all, I just had such a long and long journey.'
An anime sweat drop had appeared on the back of Frederick's head, unable to believe that there were actually people who tried to weasel their way out of paying. For a moment Frederick thought he could actually hear her wink.
Moments of hassling later, the young lady left. Still annoyed because the man would only shave off two hundred jewels from the original price. She did however manage to snare at Frederick before she left.

Re: Phoenix Fire
After Frederick payed off his own stuff, it was time to visit that Archeologist. Once again Frederick moved himself through the busy streets of Clover Town. Until he reached a large market square with in the middle a fountain with well carved out statues in it. Along the side of the fountain were sitting several young people who were having their daily fun. Telling each other the latest gossip around town. A lot of people, especially man would have called this paradise. Especially with the young maidens in their white tunics at the waters side, Frederick however did not care for it. After all, woman were the least thing on his mind.
Walking passed the fountain Frederick saw his destination, a large building with grand white pillars. It was Clover Town's Museum of History, the very place where most likely you would find an archeologist.
'Ahem'
Said Frederick when he reached the counter inside the Museum. Trying to get the attention of one of the clerks.
'I am searching for someone'
'Aren't we all' said a rather grumpy man in return
'Tch, spare me your tone mongrel. I am searching for an archeologist that recently had put out an offer for a Phoenix Feather?'
The man was clearly surprised by Frederick's brute way of reacting to him. And the sudden difference in his cold voice that changed from monotone into a rather severe and threatening tone. Made the man hesitant to answer quickly.
'Oh.. ehm well.... he might be on the second floor. You find his office at the end of the hall to the left.'
Without thanking the man Frederick left and walked up to the designated room, and without even knocking on the door he entered.
From his paperwork looking up was a man probably somewhere in his mid sixties, with a pair of glasses that was bit crooked. Just like the rest of the scholars his clothing was white. But unlike a normal robe Frederick could see this his was made for traveling. For it was tighter around the man's body and had several leather parts to protect yourself during climbing or something like that.
'Ehm who might you be?'
'Doesn't really matter, all I am here for is what you know about the Phoenix. And your rather large reward for one of it's feather.'
'Ah so you're here for the money'
'At the contrary, I am more interested why you would put such a large amount for just merely a feather. Sure I understand that if it's real it's worth far more then that. But somehow I have the gut feeling you don't just want for shows, do you now'
Surprised at the answer of Frederick the archeologist raised his eyebrows, and looked at him over the tip of his glasses. Clearly more interested now in the hooded figure that had entered his office.
'Well, it seems that we have someone here with a decent intellect, all right before I tell you. Are you able obtain such a feather and if so, are you willing to bring it to me?'
'Depends, I will seek out that bird one way or another so if what you tell me is worth my time, bringing that feather would surely come on my list'
The archeologist smiled, and even Frederick showed a small smile of acknowledgement. For they both had come to an understanding, and without even saying what the purpose of the feather would be. Frederick already knew that it was something of high value.
'Allright, then first I have to tell you that my knowledge about the bird itself is nothing more then what anyone else knows. The standard folklore. But recently I have come across a rather unique tablet.'
As the man spoke he opened up a law at his side of the desk, and pulled out a stone tablet with an ancient writing on it that he laid in front of Frederick.
'On this tablet they tell about the phoenix, first it is your standard gibberish about the birds flaming aspects. But then at the lower parts on the tablet the language changed, and with some comparing to other ancient languages I found out. That this speech is over seven thousand years old, older then our actual stories of the bird. So this makes me think that there might be some truth in these stories. So as I delved deeper in the language I found out that the entire section was dedicated to build a necklace out of one of it's feathers. A necklace that has the power to revive you at will.'
The man's voice become suddenly more serious then it was before, it was more severe and underlined the importance of this necklace.
'So do you understand what this necklace could do, it make sure that whenever you fall in battle you will be revived. Every time your own fatigue drops to zero and you are unable the fight you will stand back up with everything restored. You will have an item that makes you immortal!!'
'Immortality?! Could it be? Could this mere object grant me one the very thing that so many had sought?'
Frederick's mind went wild, showing him all different kinds of scenarios that would happen if he was immortal. And among those thoughts there was one singularity that always came forwards. And that was him sitting on a throne as the ruler over everything that existed. And Frederick's greed was awakened, the burning passion to obtain even more. It made him even forget about Cecilia who he swore to bring back from the dead. This was how far Frederick was fallen, what the darkness did to him.
But the thoughts passed away, and once again Cecilia sprung into his head. And Frederick felt annoyance. And anger at him self for tossing his life purpose away so easily. He quickly focussed on the matter at hand again.
'Professor, if what you say is true. And you can create a necklace out of this. Why would you share this with me?'
'Easy, if you bring it back and I manage to actually create it. Then I will have achieved something that will go into the history books as the greatest thing ever done. And you, will be my living proof of that. So you see, we both gain a form of immortality...so what do you think do we have ourselves a deal?'
The archeologist had reached out his hand towards Frederick, and was eagerly looking at him. Impatiently waiting for him the grab the man's hand an confirm their agreement. Frederick stood up and firmly grabbed the man's hand.
'You have my word!'

Re: Phoenix Fire
Chapter 3
.......
Two days after his meeting with the archeologist Frederick was already outside the town Magnolia. It was off course all thanks to the rail road system that lead from Clover Towns off shore station all the way to the city Magnolia, which was known for one of the most famous guilds in Fiore. Fairy Tail, a guild that unlike the masses Frederick despises. After all, the mages of Fairy Tail had meddled in his plans more then once. And kept him from achieving his only goal. Especially the two dragon slayers, but one day he would exact his revenge upon them. And when he does, he was planning to bring it all down with them.
But his plans for revenge were currently on hold, and were nothing more then a mere thought when he passed through Magnolia. After all he had a current objective that he had to fulfill first, so he couldn't tend towards revenge. No Frederick couldn't have the slightest distraction on his journey. But that still didn't mean it wasn't going to happen.
Normally Frederick would have awaken when there was actual danger, after all it was something that most mages could sense. But that was the problem, the very person who had infiltrated his camp wasn't a threat.
As the dream he was having faded away, Frederick woke up only to see the darkness of his closed eyes.
'Ugh why did I woke up...what's that?'
Frederick quickly realized what woke him up. Close to him was a rustling sound of someone going through his bag, and when he sharpened his ears he could swear that he also heard something like someone was munching on something.

Re: Phoenix Fire
Frederick opened his eyes and as he turned around to lean forward he saw a foggy appearance kneeled down to were his satchel was supposed to be. His vision become more clear and with it he could actually see what she was doing.
Bend over his satchel sat a young girl probably around the age of nineteen. Forcefully looking through all of the stuff that could be inside.
'Apples, bread.. dried meat. Doesn't this guy have any more decent food!'
Her words sounded mumbled as if she had something in her mouth while trying to speak. In the meanwhile Frederick had pulled the hood of his cloak back over his head. But when he looked at the girl an anime sweat drop appeared on the back of it. Mostly because of how awkward this situation was.
'Is this girl really going through my stuff for food...'
It didn't take too long before the girl took notice of Frederick, and a small anime sweat drop appeared on the back of her head as well.
'Ehm.. what may you being doing over...'
In what seemed like a split second the girl had turned around and looked straight at Frederick, all while she held an apple with a bite out of it. He recognized her immediately, she was the girl he had seen at the shop the other day over in Clover Town.
'Hah! So I see you have finally awoken! And just to late, because I just chased away an entire group of goblins! So you should be thankful!'
As she said that she kept on a straight face while she had put her hand into her side. Frederick on the other hand looked from her face to the apple in her hand, and then back at her again. She was obviously lying and didn't even try so hard the fact that she did.
'It looks to me as if you are eating my food... wait! Why are you eating my food!'
It did take Frederick a minute to fully realize but the girl was actually eating his food, the very food he needed to travel.
'Ehhh, well you shouldn't have it laying around like that! It's only logical that someone would eat it!'
'Yeah! That someone is supposed to be me! Don't make it sound like it's my fault! You are the one eating it'
'Geez.. I just wanted a bite to eat.. after all I was traveling and run out of food..'

Re: Phoenix Fire
Within that last sentence her attitude suddenly changed, as she bowed her head a bit down towards the ground a while tears appeared to swell up in her eyes. She also started to fiddle with her fingers a bit.
'That is not going to work against me...'
'Damn! Well you just have to share your food with me!'
As fast as she had put up an act to try and gain Frederick's sympathy it changed back into her former attitude. And this time she was pointing at him. In that moment Frederick finally realized who she was. He had met her a few days earlier back in Clover Town. Even though it was just a brief moment, Frederick knew that this was the same girl he had met at the store. The one that tried to weasel her way out of paying the full price.
'It's not my fault that you have spend all your money on a quiver!'
Those words hit her like a rock as the girl suddenly showed a face of being caught in the act, and she dropped onto her hand and knees anime style. Being all depressed and all. And as Frederick observed the girl he came to a sudden realization, this entire time his voice which was usually more cold and monotone sounded more alive then it had in years. Why this sudden change happened he didn't know, was it because of the girl. Or just the awkward situation they were in, after all how Frederick usual spent the day back at the guild these kind of situation never happened. Knowing this his voice returned to what it normally was. But what Frederick was going to say conflicted with it.
'You can take the some of the food if you want, just not all'
Her eyes teared up in that usual comedic anime way when Frederick said that, and without even the slightest hesitation she jumped back onto Frederick's satchel to plunder it from some of it's content. Frederick stared at her for while nothing knowing what to say next, while she was munching on some of the dried meat he had taken with him. Mostly he would just chase people away or worse, and he never was someone for just some mindless chatter. But for some reason he didn't felt like sending her off right away.
His chain of thought were being interrupted as when the girl suddenly turned towards him started talking again.
'So what are you anyway? Some sort of scholar, because you are carrying way to much literature with you for just a simple traveler'
'wow, there isn't even the slightest form of subtlety in her.. she just bluntly asks stuff about me..' though Frederick.
'No... I'm a mage. And I am currently on a job'
'That is not going to work against me...'

Re: Phoenix Fire
'A job huh? Well then Mr. Mage it's your lucky day! I am a blade of hire... well bow for hire actually' she said happily while tapping the bow on her back. 'And my skill with the bow is unrivaled! In fact I am...'
'You are not coming along' interrupted Frederick bluntly, whom saw straight through her charade. 'It's clear you seek easy money and are hoping that tagging along with me will provide you with it.'
'Aw! Come on! I bet it pays more then enough, you know being greedy is a bad characteristic, girl's won't like that'
'I said no!' Frederick started to get annoyed by the girl, she was rude, showed no sophisticated manners and didn't seem to have any shame at all. Plus she wasn't even a mage, so even if he ever considered of taking her along it wouldn't be wise. She would slow him down, compromise his job. No he didn't had time for that. 'You'll only slow...'
Before Frederick could finish his sentence, he was being interrupted by the passing high pitch sound of an arrow being shot, just a few inches from his ear. Fast enough that it created enough force in the air, that his hair moved as if it was a burst of wind.
Barely at the same time a death scream filled the air, the arrow that was being fired had struck something in the shadows of the tree line behind Frederick. Whom was rendered speechless, his eyes widened when he came to the realization that he could've been dead.
When he looked at the girl he knew how mistaken he was about her, sure she was annoying. But she wasn't the useless freeloader he expected her to be. No, he could read it from her face now, the spark of life in her eyes were turned cold and firm. Every enthusiastic muscle in her face was turned into a dead serious look. Unfazed, calculated.
