- Job Sheet:
- Job: The Awakening!
Job Location: Era Prison/Raging Volcano
Rank: S
Player Requirements: S-Ranked Wizard(s). Max of 3.
Job Requirements: Thread must be 40 posts long. 300 words each post. Must defeat the Monsters in Era until you roll the Boss! Must roll the Monster Dice, and defeat whatever appears, and then roll again! Once the Boss is rolled; you will hear his voice in the air telling you to meet him at the Raging Volcano. You may chase him to the Raging Volcano to begin the Final Boss Fight!
Job Description:
(You have just returned to Era; delivering an ancient staff you found to the curator of a museum in Era where he wants to add it his exhibit to put the finishing touches on his art gallery.)
"Yo-You're back! And you have the staff!? Oh my word, I honestly didn't think you'd make it back alive, well done, well done indeed. You three should be rewarded for your heroism, one for the history books and all who speak your names shall speak it in honour!" the curator rambled on as he completed the exhibit by putting the staff into a pristine glass case. Then, a moment later it happened, the case exploded and a dark figure stood over the man, who was now unconscious. "Did you fools really believe that my staff was out of power, please, why else would it be so well hidden." the figure then calls his staff back to his hands; it floats over to him and he disappears. The sky begins turning black outside over Era. Monsters and Demons begin appearing all around Era City and news arrives that dark figures have been spotted around Era's walls! It appears that was most likely a powerful dark mage who was sealed inside the staff you recovered for the curator of Era's museum! You have to put an end to him, once and for all! He's planning something, but what could it be?"
Enemies:
Weak: Vision Demon (B-rank)
Nilurm's visions are the weakest of the enemies created from the left over power that emanated from Nilurm's awakening. They are powerful foes and can kill even a B-Rank mage and appear to be humanoid shadows who have on eye that covers their entire face. Even though they're the weakest of the enemies, don't take them lightly, for a few false moves could cost you your life. The Vision Demons use magic-infused weapons to block spells of up to B-rank and attack.
Normal: Thrall Demon (A-rank)
Nilurm's thralls litter the path to the Era prison and from there to the Raging Volcano. These are the result of the energy leftover from the awakening of Nilurm the Dark. They look exactly like liches and behave the same way, except they can be killed. They are a powerful foe even for a seasoned A-Rank mage and wield varieties of A-rank elemental magic.
Strong: Nilurm's Clones (A-rank)
These are the dark figures that have been spotted all along the city walls! Nilurm's projections are a powerful foe. They look exactly like the Nilrum himself and have his exact same spells, except they can only use the B-Ranked and below spells. These will appear from time to time and are a pain in the arse to kill.
Boss: Nilurm the Dark (S-rank)
He was once a part of the ten Wizard Saints, #1, the strongest of them all actually, but then, when his family was slain for being, "traitors to Fiore", he snapped and began killing off members of the Magic Council. It took the power of three Wizard Saints to stop him and his soul was sealed inside of his old staff! They sealed his soul in the item, but his mortal body in the depths of Era Prison, and now, he's broken out, and gotten a hold on his old staff; and has plans to erupt the Raging Volcano unnaturally! This action would destroy half of Fiore in an instant!- Nilurm's Spells:
Time Stop (S-rank): This is Nilurm's most powerful spell. Using his staff, he uses time arc to bring time to a complete stand still for one post. From here, he can set up attacks and hurt you for when you come out of the time stop. He can use this every 5 posts and it makes any attacks used while time is stopped undodgable.
Nightmare Pull (S-ranked): This illusion spell is quite formidable, as if it hits, will cause the user to be knocked out and face their worst nightmare inside their mind. If the target doesn't have a worst nightmare, which is very rare, they will just fight a colossus. No matter what they face, their enemy will be an S-ranked being and they can leave the nightmare only once they defeat it. It takes 10 B-ranked spells to take it down and any damage it deals to the player would be dealt to their real body as well. 6 posts cool-down. (Note that spells which have a mental effect still retain their full potency)
Earth Manipulation (A-ranked): Using his gloves to amplify manipulation over Earth. He can carry large boulders up to 60 meters away. This telekinesis is limited to only things made from Earth, including Earth magic, so be wary of this ability.
Forward Kick (B-rank): This attack may not sound very powerful, but it is. Summoning dark energies around him, Nilurm holds his leg out and creates a shadow leg that pushes out and kicks. This is effective more in shattering defences than anything else, it can severely damage A-Rank shields and destroy B-Ranked and below with ease. This B-Ranked spell is not something you wan't to defend against.
Dark Swarm (C-rank): Nilurm's most basic attack, and one that he uses in battle more often than everything. He creates small little bugs made from darkness magic that have the biting capacity of a leaf-cutter ant. These things fly extremely quickly and are spawned in groups of thirty, and have a habit of exploding on impact. They are, though, easy to kill, as long as you can hit them.

Knock! Knock! Knock!
Three solid raps would come down on the mahogany made door, the sound bouncing along the dark corridors of Savage Skull. Now even a person on the other end should know that Aedre has a visitor.
Such is the magic of silence.
However, the said woman was intently scribbling away on a piece of parchment, the cursive words pressed and etched into the paper looking crisp and clear in the light of the lamp. That being said, one could already guess that she was very busy. Though this really didn't stop her from noticing the impatience and fear in the knocks.
It was something important and needed her attention. Aedre wasn't one to deny that.
"Come in." Her lips barely parted as she spoke out, but still her frosty voice was brimmed with confidence and an air of authority.
Click!
The knob was turned making the door opened soundlessly and somewhere in the back of her mind Aedre was thankful for having the hinges oiled a few days back. A shadow wavered and the man walked inside, his sharp intakes of air indicating the tension and restlessness he carried.
"Tch." A disappointed click of her tongue, as Aedre discovered she had done a little mistake in filling the papers she was working on. Blame it on her attention to this man's responses; this is exactly what you get for diverting your concentration to irrelevant stuff.
With a little pout on her lips, the young woman looked up, noticing the beads of sweat running down the man's face.
"N-Nilurm..."
An eyebrow propped up.
"He's b-back."
A smirk, "Interesting." There was mockery running all over her voice. The messenger was completely baffled.
"So, who exactly is this Nilurm dude?" Now her doubt was genuine.
"The Wizard Saint who turned to the Dark Side, the one who needed three others of his kind to lock up."
"I've never heard of such a person my dear and that basically means I don't need to care about it." Aedre's head bent to inspect the papers once again.
"B-But I'm responsible. It was because of me that he was freed and now he's attacking Era. He plans on tampering with the Raging Volcano and that might destroy half of Fiore."
A chuckle escaped Aedre's mouth, "Are you really in Savage Skull or what? If you don't know yet, destroying Fiore is one of our objectives; of course not really as important as other things, but still a part of it."
"No! If something happens with Fiore now the Magic Council will track it straight to Savage Skull, my hand in all of this is very evident. It won't take long before they come and attack us or something. We're not even prepared."
Now, the seriousness of the matter hit her like a cold gust of wind. This man spoke sense. Aedre eyes pierced through his and for a second, he might have felt himself crumbling under her frosty gaze.
Standing up, the Slayer stretched herself; the stiffness of her muscles vanishing in a split second. "Boy, we've got some job now." She spoke with a hint of mischief, as her body melted away from the man's vision. Within a heartbeat, she was standing behind him, as her hand sneaked away the piece of parchment from him.
"Let me take care of this now... But when I get back, you get punished." Her voice whispered in his ear, sending a shudder down his spine and startling him at the same time.
Before he could turn and face her, before even trying to apologize the woman had disappeared once again.
"Mhm~"
Aedre now stood right in front of the Guild Master's office, her hands clutching the crumpled piece of parchment very delicately. Even in the absolute darkness of the corridor, the young woman could read as if it were daytime; as her eyes hovered over the officially written job that asked the mages to take care of the problem that Era was facing at the moment. It really amazed her as to how quickly the Magic Council managed to make jobs for mages out of anything that came their way. Unlike her, the man inside this room knew their way though. The expertise and information came with personal experiences of course.
Harrigan should already know the potential danger that might befall Savage Skull if they didn't take care of this little Nilurm.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Three solid raps on the intricately carved wooden door.
"There's some business we ought to take care of, Uncle." Aedre called out. If Harrigan were to open the door, she'd simply slip the Job Sheet to him and wait for any instructions that might come her way.

When the wooden door automatically opened with a creaking sound, Aedre would see her Guild Master and uncle in front of a large window, that overlooked the the wood sea of the Spooky Forest. He had his hands vowed behind his back and without turning around he addressed his niece.
'Since when do you knock' he would say with a taunting voice. Obviously hinting to her ability that allowed her to move through the shadows.
'Anyway, I figured that news about this Nilurm figure would reach your ears' continued Harrigan while he turned around and grab hold of the parchment that his niece handed to him. As he held it with both hands he took took a few seconds to look at it.
'Tch look at this incompetence, anyway your right. This is something that is better to be taken care of by ourselves.'
When Harrigan read what was on the pavement he immediately knew that the situation at hand was something that had to be handled carefully. Because if Nilurm succeeded he would lift the seal that held the Raging Volcano at bay, and when that happened it would leave a scar on Fiore so great that people will remember it thousand years from now. And not only Fiore, the Raging Volcano was located at the edge of this country near the borders of Seven and Bosco. If this mountain would erupt because of a former Wizard Saint, one of the most esteemed order of the Magic Council then those other countries would surely hear of that. And that would trigger a war with them.
Not that a war was really the guilds problem, in matter of fact. A war could be most beneficial to Harrigan and his mages of darkness, if only Savage Skull wouldn't stand in the middle of all this. Literately… the Savage Skull guildhall stood near the borders of Bosco and Seven as well, and not only that. The Raging Volcano always filled the scenery when Harrigan would look out of the window. Sure the endless marshes from the spooky forest would probably provide them safety against scorching magma. But if it would come to war and everything would trace back to their guild. Then it could mean that Harrigan could be the last Guild Master of Savage Skull.
'Aedre, see if you can come in contact with out contacts in Era, and ask them to keep an eye on this situation. In the meantime I will make some arrangements for our absence from the guild. When your done, meet me in front of the guild.'

Aedre didn't doubt her Uncle's decision in the least. It only made sense that he arranged for some kind of transportation to Era while at the same time setting up some protection for the Guild in their absence. The Slayer had a feeling that this mission won't end up easily and might take some of their precious time. Also, unlike the missions she had been in previously, the usually well-informed young woman had no clue whatsoever about Nilurm; who seemed to be the main threat at the moment.
With a nod of her head and muttering, "Sure." Aedre's body became one with the darkness again, only to coalesce back in her little office.
The man from before still stood like a statue, his skin pale as some age old white marble and for a second an onlooker might have wondered that he was extremely sick. As Aedre took a step forward to her desk, the man startedly turned behind, noticing her presence. It felt like he feared something now, as more and more sweat drops ran down his face; maybe the knowledge that Aedre mentioned some kind of punishment before disappearing.
A loud gulp was heard as the man tried to swallow the lump in his throat while trying to overcome his fears and phrase them into a question; but was interrupted when Aedre let out a disappointed click of her tongue. Her head was bent towards the table as she scribbled some words in a hastened writing on a piece of parchment. Trying to keep it as short as possible while still conveying the important bits of the message was not an easy job and Aedre found herself doubting her ability to write as she pondered on what exactly she wanted to inform.
After spending a couple of minutes on it, Aedre rolled the letter up, turned around and handed it over to the man. His hands shook as he grabbed it with extreme care, as if he were handling some delicate glass instrument.
"Hand this to our men in Era, will you?"
A small nod of agreement.
"And mind you, this needs to reach before me and Master Harrigan reach there. I need them to keep an eye over Nilurm's moves and you may just give them any necessary help with it."
"Sure, I'll take my leave now."
Crack! The man disappeared out of sight with his Teleportation abilities. A really handy ability when it came to escaping sticky situations like this.
'He better hand it over into safe hands... The blonde hoped. It was supposed to be handed over to the couple of Harrigan's men stationed in Era. They played a very trival role of being spies for the guild of Savage Skull; providing information from the Headquarters of the Magic Council that turned out to be useful at times.
With this little task of hers completed, Aedre whisked herself away to the entrance of the foyer, now being able to see the silhouette of her Uncle in the dim light that made its way through the dense Spooky forest.
"Ready, are we?"

Despite Harrigan's conceited attitude he was actually a bit anxious, not only was this situation a direct threat to the guild but he also didn't have any information on this Nilurm guy. Well at least not something that was sufficient enough to deal with this problem. However one thing he did know, back from when he was still working for the Magic Council. And if he recalled correctly this Nilurm used to be a Wizard Saint. Until the day that he had gone rogue and planned to destroy Council. But the problem was in stopping him, Nilurm was ranked third among the Saints. Making him extremely powerful and he could only be stopped by the combined power of three other Wizard Saints.
With a huge sigh Harrigan marched through the halls of Savage Skull until he reached the floor of one of his members. Sinali, a young mage with a rather disgusting form of magic. But besides that she was also someone that could handle the guild in his absence. Not that he actually trusted her off course, but at this point in time she had no reason to betray him. Making her the perfect candidate to look after this place.
After explaining his sudden absence to the young undead girl he turned around and left her room. And Harrigan found himself once again marching through the guilds dark halls and corridors. In the meantime he had ordered some foolish foot soldier to ready a carriage for him and his niece. Just outside the guild.
So Harrigan was pleased that when he stepped outside and he saw that it was actually standing ready. A dark brown carriage with beautiful patterns carved out around the edges. In the form of trees and landscapes. In front of it were two black horses ready to tow the chic looking ride. Surrounding it, sitting on horses. Was a group of black knights. Six men armored with a heavy plating.
Not much later, Aedre appeared. And in the dimming light of the Spooky Forest she had a bit of an eerie vibe around her.
"Ready, are we?" she inquired.
'Yes, we are' he replied to her while opening the carriage's door for her. 'Ladies first'

"Yes, we are." The Guild Master of Savage Skull replied as he opened up the door of the carriage with a, "Ladies first."
Aedre couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at her Uncle's talent with women. It was as if chivalry was a trait passed down through blood in the generations of the Crawford family. It was no surprise why Harrigan had quite a number of women wooing him back in Aedre's childhood. Though they were always disappointed with the cold exterior that he showed off after some time; most probably an inherent habit.
Aedre gently moved aside the silken set of curtains that separated the inside of the wagon from the outside world as she climbed in and made her comfortable beside a window, waiting for her Uncle to climb in. As he would ascend the luxurious enclosure, one of the men would pull the reigns of the horses and they would trot towards Era's direction.
Even with the marshes of Spooky Forest, today was a warm day, not a cloud in the sky and no chance of a shower. The sun's light was shining down at full effect, but the heat wasn't overwhelming enough to break into the carriage's confines. For the normal folk of Fiore, it would have been the perfect day for a picnic. Not for the Crawford duo though.
It was actually relaxing for Aedre, after a day of being cramped in her office doing paperwork, this little, windy ride was a breath of fresh air.
While the carriage made its way through the winding village paths and top class city roads of the elite; a few heads did turn towards the mesmerizing little carriage that Harrigan had arranged for their ride. It was the type that required people to stop and stare at it to take in its full beauty. The sun reflected off the convoy, its glossy brown paint accented perfectly by the bright chrome trim and several designs.
Although, these stares and gazes were not a problem to either Aedre or Harrigan as they sat inside discussing a few things about Nilurm, some strategies that they could follow; none of them concrete.
The flashy yet elegant and regal looking carriage was finally brought to a stop at its destination. Era, the hometown of the Magic Council. The people who couldn't take care of their own problems now.
Aedre stepped down, the wind making her blonde hair flit back and forth gently, as she observed the massacre that was taking place around them.
"Doesn't look that great, eh?"

'It really doesn't, yet here we are to save the city from this despair'
A conflicting chain of thought if you would really think about it, they were here to save their own hides. But doing so meant saving the city and with it their much hated enemy, the Magic Council.
Harrigan looked over to the largest building in town, the council's headquarters and main base for their troops the Rune Knights. The very place where his father, Aedre's grandfather was laid to rest.
Everywhere around them was noise, the people screaming for help, building that crumbled and the roaring sound of their enemy. An enemy that came in a vast majority.
'It seems that Nilurm didn't came alone, this can be quite bothersome'
His voice sounded irritated by the fact that there were multiple enemies something that he clearly didn't want. But that was only because of the lack of information, because until now Harrigan only assumed that they had to deal with Nilurm alone. But now he had to fight his way through the hordes of demons that came with that guy.
Harrigan looked at a lizard like demon that was on a rooftop couple of buildings away, hissing at something between the houses. Probably just some victims that tried to runaway, but while he stared at the creature disappearing into the alley Harrigan suddenly saw an opportunity. Something that he hadn't thought of before. He cursed himself for that he hadn't realized it before, this Nilurm guy possessed a great power. So much even that he can lay a city to waste all by himself. But more importantly then that, he hated the Magic Councils and their goons. Probably just as much as Harrigan and Aedre. Maybe even more so.
'Aedre..this is quite a gruesome display isn't. So tell me, don't you think that such a power would fit perfectly within our guild..'

"Aedre..this is quite a gruesome display isn't. So tell me, don't you think that such a power would fit perfectly within our guild.."
It took Aedre a couple of seconds to understand Harrigan's words, before she traced his vision to a demon that stood on a nearby rooftop. That was exactly when his words clicked inside her brain. The so called power that her Uncle was talking about was Nilurm, a former Wizard Saint who had now turned out to be the greatest threat for the Magic Council. Not only was he going to be a formidable opponent to fight against, he might also happen to haold the same grudge againt the Magic Council that these two Crawfords did. As Harrigan subtly suggested getting Nilurm into the Guild after this little conflict, Aedre couldn't help but smile at her Uncle's twisted way of thinking; that did prove to be beneficial most of the time.
With a small smirk gracing her lips the young woman replied, "Indeed. Its better to have a greater number of foot soldiers all the time. Especially for a Guild like ours."
Just then, out of nowhere, a humanoid like entity swiftly made its way to the duo, as Aedre's crystal blue eyes gazed towards it with minimal interest for a second. Its entire body seemed to be made of condensed darkness and only given a form for the sake of being capable of touch.
There were hand like protrusions on either side of its body, where the one on the right held a magic infused saber; glowing an ethereal and malicious black light.
Without a second's delay the blonde set herself towards this creature, swinging a right hook at it, then planting her foot and whirling back the other way through the air with a spinning heel kick aimed for the side of its face.
Keeping her momentum she'd land a gut punch and a shattering uppercut to its face; thus causing it to let out a pathetic, high pitched shriek.
Maybe it was a call of help, for somewhere from the shadows of a building, another creature, more or less like a twin to this one. It moved in her direction with such speed and precision, it was as if the wind was guiding it on its path. Even with Aedre's Slayer instincts the creature landed up close, only to slash once at her arm with its sword.
Aedre winced ever-so-slightly as a strong pang of pain coursed through her arm. Instinctively, she'd extend it forward and with a crack her hand would have changed forms. Now being composed of clear, glittering and spinning water which possessed the ability to change lengths. With a small grin the young woman slashed this whip of water towards the creature's direction, causing him to careen to a side.
Soon after that, she'd land the same whip on top of the first creature's head-like structure which would make him seek the comfort of shadows and disappear from the Slayer's range of vision.

It seems that Harrigan's and Aedre arrival at Era didn't go unnoticed, as the enemy already decided to greet them in the form of two black and humanoid creatures. However unfortunately for them they would be greeted by the same sort of violence as they planned on doing, but only much worse.
Harrigan smiled conceited as he saw his blonde niece Aedre, dealing with those inferior beings. With her powerful whips she smashed one of the black creatures aside, only so she had room to land her other whip onto the first creature that had arrived on the scene. Which in turn decided to flee scene as it let out a quick scream of pain.
'Well my dear niece, it seems that you just rang the doorbell... not that it is a problem off course. No at the contrary, this will save us the demeaning work of looking for him through all this chaos.'
It was true, now that the black human shaped creature had ran off it probably was going straight back to their master. Meaning that if Harrigan and Aedre would cause enough havoc and inconvenience, that it's master would come straight to them.
Harrigan couldn't help than to smile even more. Showing that he was enjoying the fact of luring an opponent out into the open and straight into his playing field.
'Yet I think we still need a bit more then just a knock on the door'
As Harrigan said that eight giant dog like creatures walked up behind him. At the same time the stench of their rotted flesh filled the air, enough so to make any normal person gag. However Harrigan practiced necromancy and was there for adjusted to the smell of the death, especially the giant undead dog like creature called the Garm. His signature creature that he often summoned during battles.
'Oh and Aedre dear, go all out.'
