I'll outshine the moon (Mission: Zack)

Mission Info:

The moon was shining brightly tonight. It was known as a perfect moon and for one man hurtling towards the mountain as fast as he could without using magic it was beyond perfect. Today he would get to test out his skill and strength against deadly monsters. Sure, the monsters might be human for most of the year, but tonight they were monsters. Monsters that had to be stopped without killing. That was fine for Zack though. He hated killing. Not because he thought it was wrong or anything. No, he just felt it was a waste. If he beat someone to a pulp then one day they might seek revenge and be even stronger thus providing a new challenge. Life was all about challenges and thrills for him. He stopped suddenly on the outskirts of the village.

"Oh are we there?" said a voice from his pocket. A small blonde head poked out followed by a woman who was glowing faintly green. Zack hovered there and looked at the small woman who had recently been in his pocket and was now growing to be a full size woman. He'd considered leaving her behind, but considering the situation he could probably do with a bit of backup and she'd get pissed if he left her behind again. Zack was silent for once as he hovered and considered the situation. Howls could already be heard and the moon was only just really becoming 'perfect'. The monsters within the residents had been unleashed. Now it was up to the pair of them to put them back on their leashes with swords. Zack lifted his eyepatch and pulled out the two swords Nobility of Notus, a black longsword, and Bravery of Boreas, a green longsword. He was about to chuck the Bravery to Devon when she shook her head. "You need them both to guard the guy. Besides, if I use the swords i'll end up killing them." That was true enough. She didn't hold back like Zack. It wasn't her people's style. "I'll take  Zeal. I should be able to hold back using that." Zack nodded and tossed the swords into the air and pulled out from his eye a large halberd which he tossed to her before he caught the two longswords.

"See you when its over." Zack said and hurtled down to the nearest gate. He dashed in silently and began to look about for any signs of the werewolves. They would be easy to find he was certain. Just follow the howls and screams.

Devon meanwhile decided to stick to the air and flew over keeping an eye on things and looking for likely targets. Devon would of rather stayed with Zack to protect him and the Eye of Emptiness, but Zack preferred to work alone. Besides, splitting up would allow them to do it faster and that suited Zack. Of course, if she got in trouble Zack would come help her. He refused to let allies die on his watch, but still...she would of preferred to work with him.

It was werewolf hunting time. Howls were becoming louder as he got closer. He came into a group of fifteen werewolves. They looked quite tough. They didn't seem to be freshly transformed. They looked rabid and pissed. They weren't tearing at eachother, but they were tearing at the buildings themselves knocking out chunks. They were definitely tough looking beasts. He  assumed a fighting stance and prepared to attack. This was a matter of speed and skill against strength. He had to take them down fast or be overwhelmed. "Fifteen against one. That sounds like my kind of fun." he mused and charged forward swords at his side ready to take them down. He had to thin their numbers and turn the odds in his favour as soon as possible. The eyepatch over his eyes allowed him to see the werewolves, in terms of physical strength, were the match for A rank wizards. Their aura showed that, but it showed very little magic power, which meant all their aura's strength was physicality. He wondered how fast they were. That would be interesting to see. He doubted they could match him in terms of speed though. There were few living creatures who could, particularly if he used a couple of his newest spells. Yes, he might be forced to do so due to the numbers he was facing. "LET'S RUMBLE" he roared out as he got amongst them. His swords were ready, he was ready. It was time to rumble and time to bring these werewolves down.

He had no plan. No ideas. He was just going to run purely on instinct. He had his swords ready and his body was ready. Using speed, skill and strength he would take them down. He also had his spells for backup if necessary.

Zack wasn't the only one who had come across the angry, building destroying, foaming at the mouth werewolves. Devon had spotted a group from the sky. They were also tearing up buildings, but fortunately she had found five of them not fifteen. She was tough, but not quite as tough as Zack. She'd have trouble against the numbers he was fighting. He'd probably have difficulty himself, but she'd have more. Against this five she would probably struggle, but she had the air as an edge against the werewolves. She very much doubted they could fly though their hind leg strength looked like it could get up into the air for a blow. Still, she would stick to the air. It was her edge. Zack had that edge too, but he wouldn't use it. He wasn't that strategic. He went by instinct and fun. She was a warrior, trained to fight demonic creatures, she had to be strategic to fight them. Zack should do too, but strangely his battle instincts managed to get him through. It must be all the fighting he had done in the past. It had allowed for him to develop instincts allowing him to fight without thinking at all allowing for greater reaction speed and power.

The demon fairy hovered there for a while halberd in hand. She knew that the first stage was to thin the numbers. With their rage at such a high level she could likely trick them into attacking eachother and get them to turn on one another to some extent. That was her plan. Let them all the work and she would clean up.

Monsters:

'Monster Dice' :

He got in amongst them quickly and instantly the group let out loud growls and went at him. He hadn't expected fifteen to attack him all at once. Five of them managed to get in close enough to hit him, but only three were successful tearing up his cloak and raking into his back and arms. The other two he managed to block. He really hadn't expected them to go for him so quickly, but it didn't matter. Years of fighting, particularly the last year, had honed his instincts to such a high level he knew what to do. With a huge burst of strength he pushed them back away from him. "Demonic Twister." he shouted

He made a quick swinging motion and right in front of him a huge twister formed. This was 400ft tall and 60ft wide. The werewolves tried to run, but they were too slow.  They would of needed to run 140ft in the space of a few seconds to escape and whilst they were fast they could not manage it and were sucked into the tornado. Zack meanwhile just stood there and watched as the wolves were cut up by his powerful spell. The three that had hit him were also feeling another pain. The pain of decay. They had touched Zack and his blood and that was poisonous to anyone who didn't share the same blood. He could end it more quickly by attacking them, which was normally his style, but that would risk taking them out entirely and that he couldn't do. The mission parameters, or his own personality would not let him.

He stood there and watched, his wounds slowly healing. This in itself was amazing, but Zack's blood whilst poisonous to others was very beneficial to him as it accelerated his healing process. Combined with his magic it made him one of the best healers in the world, providing he was only healing himself. He was very good at healing others too, but they couldn't benefit from his blood. He watched the angry werewolves and listened to their howls of despair and anguish as they tried to escape the deadly winds that were cutting them heavily. Sadly without some form of magic or other way of blasting themselves out they were stuck until the tornado ended.

Devon meanwhile was in a tricky situation. She had flown down with the halberd and aimed to strike out at them, but the weapon was not one she was used to. She felt foolish for refusing a sword now, but it was too late to worry about that. She tried four times to attack her opponents, but three of the blows missed entirely as the werewolves leapt away and the fourth was blocked. This last block was actually fortunate though because as the werewolf threw her back another one had tried to lunge at her and missed. However, he did succeed in hitting something, another werewolf. The two of them began to growl and howl angry at eachother. It seemed they would turn on eachother quite easily.

This moment did distract her enough for two of the wolves to get in powerful blows. One raked across her stomach and the other her back. It hurt like hell and to be honest she didn't think she could handle much more. She had to retreat and go to Zack. Fortunately, two of the wolves were fighting and so wouldn't be an issue immediately. She'd have to tell Zack so he could stop them killing one another.

She took to the sky and began to fly off. The three who weren't fighting another werewolf chased after her. She was a pretty glowing orb of green afterall. As she flew she saw the tornado and had to come to a halt. She couldn't go near it herself without being sucked in and torn to pieces. "Zack. I can't handle these guys." she shouted.

Zack heard the shout, even over the winds, and ran off in her direction. The two of them had become a lot closer in the past year and Zack was not going to let her die on him. He would never let an ally die, but especially not Devon. As he ran he came face to face with the three werewolves and saw the injured Devon in the air. "Rest up and keep out of the twister's range. I'll handle these pups." he shouted. He wasn't cocky. He just felt he could handle them. Three against one seemed a lot more fair to him.

Zack knew he had to deal with these werewolves quickly. If he left the werewolves in the twister for too long it would kill them entirely. It was an insanely powerful technique, probably his strongest, particularly when it came to taking out groups. He couldn't let it kill them though, just like he couldn't kill these ones he was going to fight today. If he wanted to take these out quickly he needed more speed. "Air Resistance Drop Minor." he said activating a low level spell, but one which was insanely useful. It dropped the air resistance effect on him by 25% allowing him to go even faster. It did make it harder to stop, but that didn't bother him. After all, he was all about movement.

He lunged in and with full power struck at one of the werewolves with a blade slicing it heavily on the arm. It howled out in pain and struck out at him, but he deflected the blow. Sadly, one managed to get a blow in on his back raking across it. Damn that hurt like hell. However, it was also fortunate for him as the werewolf was now poisoned by his blood. It would begin to feel weaker. An easier target for him later.

The rest of the werewolves were not poisoned. Nor could he seem to get in an accurate blow even with his enhanced speed due to less air resistance. One of them managed to block three of his strikes using its claws to block his sword. He managed to chip them a bit and even cut the paw slightly, but it wasn't nearly enough to bring it down. The next one he struck out at dodged his blow entirely and leapt forward at him, but he dodged nimbly out of the way and struck out again. However, once more his blow was deflected. It did minor damage though because the one he struck at was the poisoned one. The fact there were only three of them and he couldn't bring them down swiftly was aggravating. It was almost like fighting Yugi's flame werewolves again.

The next blow he swung at an opponent was not only blocked, but the green sword was knocked out of his hand. Devon saw this and flew down causing Zack to raise an eyebrow. She tossed the halberd at him and he lifted the eyepatch absorbing it back into the eye of emptiness. She lifted the sword and winced. She was really badly hurt. He moved over to her and blew on her neck. "Healing Breath V3" he said using his second most powerful healing spell. A lot of her wounds were healed by the breath, enough to allow her to fight again. "Use Bravery...these are stronger than we thought. You'll need it."

"What about you?" Devon asked. If they were strong enough that he felt she needed a weapon as powerful as Bravery of Boreas to survive they must be strong. "Don't you need it?" Zack just grinned and assumed a loose stance with his sword. Devon just shook her head. The wounds on Zack's back were already slowly healing. His Immortal Blood was insane.

Zack snapped his fingers and the twister ended. The werewolves were truly battered by the winds. All of them were unconcious. If he'd left them in there any longer they would of died. Plus now he didn't have to worry about them when he went all out with Nobility of Notus. He lunged forward at his primary target, the poisoned werewolf. His first blow was blocked, but took off a huge chunk of claw. The beast howled out in agony and went to bite him, but Zack moved to the side. As he did so he went to slice the beast, but it dodged out of the way. Yet that was when a second one lunged at him. Rather than dodging its blow he blocked it with his own attack. The beast's teeth shattered as they hit the dense material of the blade. As it leapt back howling Zack lunged forward and hit it hard with the flat of his sword. The blow was strong enough to do some serious damage. It wasn't enough to knock it out, but it was enough to do some decent damage and daze it.

That was when the other wolf came charging in. It went for a powerful swipe, but Zack dodged out of the way nimbly. He didn't attack that one though but instead charged at the poisoned one and managed to chip off some more claws as it went to block his attack. More damage was done to it. It was heavily weakened now. He lunged in again, but in its pain and anger it seemed to be more cautious and dodged two of his strikes. However, he managed to get in one and finished chipping off the claws one one of its paws.

Devon meanwhile had been having difficulties. Fortunately, she was swift and had her own powerful spells. She'd gone after the two that were fighting eachother. She meant to stop them killing eachother. She lunged in and activated her powerful spell the Sky Queen's Sword. This formed a rapier of wind which she used to try and strike the stronger of the two wolves. Unfortunately, it raised its paws to block the blow. However, she still struck all twelve times in the space of a second. Thus the claws shattered and the beast was hit by the shrapnel. This didn't do the full 3 A ranks of damage that this weapon was capable of, but instead did a single A rank. It was still a hefty blow.

The two beasts were super pissed at eachother, but they were more pissed she'd interrupted their fight and turned on her. She swung the blade at one, but it was knocked away. A second blow was also blocked. The blocked blows still left some minor damage, but nothing to bring it down. Still two against one was a lot better than five.

Zack knew his air resistance drop wouldn't last much longer so he decided to make use of it. He lunged forward pushing his speed to the limit and thrust the sword forward. The beast was taken by surprise due to the linearity of his attack and was smacked across the head with the blunt of the blade knocking it out could. The poisoned beast was down and out now. He felt Devon would be enough to handle the two wolves she was fighting, especially with Boreas at her side so he lunged at one of the two wolves he was fighting. One was much more damaged than the other and he targeted that one. Once it was down and out he could focus on the other one. He normally didn't try to kill, despite using swords, but sometimes he couldn't help it. That was why he used a sword. It had non-lethal ways of taking out a target, but if necessary it could be used for lethal means of death.

The beast that he lunged at was still quite lively despite the heavy cutting damage it had received. It was dodging his blows quite well, but then suddenly Zack did something it not expect and hurled his sword directly at the beast. It was caught off guard, but not enough to secure a hit. Yet as it dodged the thrown weapon suddenly Zack was beside it. He grinned. "Too slow." and with that he swung his leg round kicking the beast with all his might and sent it hurtling into a wall. The blow was enough to knock it unconcious. Yet it seemed Zack had been distracted by it for too long as the other beast leapt at him and clawed into his back causing Zack to howl out in pain. It claws were digging in as it tried to bring him down. He howled in agony, but Zack was clever and used his wind magic to let him fly up into the air. The beast held on dilligently. Zack's back was on fire with the agony but the beast was also poisoned heavily by Zack's blood. He flipped round in the air and managed to dislodge the beast dropping it to the ground. It landed without harm, but that changed when Zack came down with a powerful double footed kick to the head at high speed. The angle he came out caused the beast's head to be slammed into the ground dazing it. That was enough for Zack to finish off its journey to dream land by grabbing its head and slamming it down. He grabbed his sword and fell to his knees. The pain of that attack had been intense. He needed to heal. "Healing breath v2." he said blowing on himself. That healed up the flesh on his back. The muscles and nerves were still damaged, but at least he wouldn't bleed out now. It was up to Devon to finish off these beasts.

Devon fought well. She was a warrior of her people. She held her own against the wolves keeping both of them in her gaze and striking out when she could. She managed, whilst Zack was fighting, to chip off a few claws thus reducing the damgage these werewolves could do. She was holding back because she didn't want to kill them and with Bravery she was easily capable of doing so with their weakened state. However, that changed when she heard the howl of pain from Zack. A flame seemed to appear from her eyes and she lunged forward heedless to the pain she might receive, and did receive. One wolf raked its claws down her side, but she struck out at the other one with the flat of the blade. It wasn't enough to knock it unconcious, but it did daze it. She swung round and struck the other as it went in for a bite and knocked out a bunch of teeth as well as dazing it.

"You bastards hurt Zack." she shouted. Even though it wasn't these ones that hurt Zack. "You'll pay for that." She struck the one that had injured her with the hilt of the blade knocking it unconcious and then picked it up by the tuft of its tail and swung it at the other. It was knocked over, but not damaged much by the blow. She leapt at it and slammed its head into the ground. As payment she cut off an ear from one and stabbed the eye of the other. "You may be humans transformed into beasts, but nobody hurts Zack and gets away with it." she was however kind enough to tear off strips of her clothing to bind the wounds.
