A Wizards Grace

After hearing about most of the job requests from one of his guild members who was kind enough to read them to him, Jornaal decided to take the request in Beanstalk Village. Preparing himself for his mission, he packed light not wanting anything to slow him down, he took the next train out of Hargeon headed for Clover Town. From there he took a carriage up to Beanstalk Village, ready to complete his very first mission. Walking into the, somewhat, peaceful village, he stretched his Second Sight to take in his surroundings. He could hear the rustling footsteps of the villagers still going about their day despite their unwanted circumstances.

He reached one of the villagers who seemed less busy and introduced himself as the mage who has come to fulfill their request. Hello there, I am a mage from Lamia Scale who has come to help you with your vegetation situation. The villager, an older gentleman by the sound of his rough voice, did not sound to sure about the young mage but allowed him the benefit of the doubt. Hmmm, Alright then. Thanks for coming, I guess, our crops, for some reason, have started withering despite our constant care. He went on to explain to the boy about the strange glow to them and how no matter what they do they just can't seem to restore them. Alright sir, I'll try and find out what's causing your plants to die. The gentleman told him where to find the field and to try not to damage the field with his investigation; and with that, the young boy began his first mission.

Jornaal walked through the field, examining the withered crops and the strange glow to them. Walking through the field, he could feel the magical energy radiating from them. He knelt to the ground to observe closer, listening to them, hearing their cries for help. It was then that the mission became clear when a couple of the vegetables popped out of the ground. Two giant tomatoes and a corn stalk leapt out of the ground and began to surround Jornaal in the field. He began to focus his Second Sight to an immediate 60-meter radius, allowing him to know where his enemies would be coming from. Mainly by the smell of their rotten stench could he pinpoint their location, he could also tell their movements by the shuffling of the dirt they were kicking around. The sun was nearly at its high point, the wind started a light breeze, and Jornaal began to activate his fire and ice rune on his staff. This power shall remain unseen, For I must hold steady. For both are elements of destruction, I stay true to my word and allow peace its day; Tân a rhew. Immediately, his body started to glow, along with his staff, though only the rune of Fire and Ice glowed bright. Upon both ends, there blazed the two elements in glory, respectively, one on each side. When the creatures saw the light themselves, they began their attack.

'Monster Dice' :

The giant tomatoes both fired their tomato juice cannons while the giant corn ran in for a body flop. It seemed, as soon as the battle started, Jornaal was ready for them. These things didn't care about subtlety at all, but were extremely loud in their attacks. Jornaal was able to avoid both tomato cannons by using the giant corn, who aimed poorly and ended tripping itself in the dirt, to leap into the air and avoid all of their attacks. He then planned to hit the corn with the fire side of his staff, but was able to roll out of the way. Though able to dodge his first attack, the giant corn was not wary enough of Jornaal's second attack, stunning him with Ice. Being quick on his feet and not slowing down tempo, the young mage ran straight for the tomatoes who were in awe at the boy's surprisingly quick movements. He attacked with full force, taking out the first giant tomato with ease, but the second wasn't so easy, blocking both of Jornaal's fire and ice attacks. I SHALL DESTROY YOU, YOU INSOLENT TWERP!!! The tomato growled at jornaal after witnessing its fellow tomato's death.

The Tomato, with all his cockiness, decided he would show Jornaal the true strength that his master has granted him by performing a tomato slam and smashing Jornaal to the ground. DIE YOU VERMIN!! The tomato shouted as he charged at Jornaal. Sensing his opponents movements, and rolling his at the tomato's poor excuse for a battle cry, Jornaal easily sidestepped out of the tomato's charge, tripping it with his staff. He then smacked it to the ground with his staff, leaving only the stunned corn to deal with. As soon though as he came nearer to the giant vegetable, did he feel more rumbling under neath the earth. About ten feet away from him, sprouted another giant tomato and giant stalk of Broccoli he had to deal with. You guys will not rest, will you? he readied himself for their attack as both, now, decided to charge him. It was at this time that he started to wonder if he should have prepared himself more for this mission, maybe even starting a couple of easier missions to have more experience. He shook these thoughts away from his mind as not to allow himself to become distracted from his current situation.

As soon as the first Corn awoke from being stunned by Jornaal's ice attack, he became quite irritated and attempted a body slam on the boy. Still a bit weary from being stunned, the Corn slipped on himself  once again. Catching Jornaal by surprise at the Corns sudden attack, jornaal attempted a counter attack of his own, missing once again with his fire attack because of the Corn's fall, he still slammed him into the ground with his ice attack; stunning him once again. Meanwhile, his two newest opponents had started to charge the young wizard. Shouting the battle cry of the vegetables, they made it easy for Jornaal to be able to block their charge's with his own attacks. He swung his mighty staff on both targets, killing the tomato with his Ice attack, but the Broccoli was smart enough to dodge both of the elements. You can not defeat me so easily, little bug.. After that last attack, his staff glowed for a second, erasing both elements from his staff. Jornaal knew that the spell needed to cool down for awhile before he was able to use it again. It was fine, he needed to practice his melee skills for awhile.

Two on one combat wasn't his 'ideal' choice for a fight, but it is what it is. Both enemies came at him simultaneously, knocking Jornaal off balance and not allowing him to get a single attack through; so not fair. He was able to block the corn's headbutt and a punch from the giant Broccoli, but the Broccoli was too fast for him and he got nailed with a stinging left hook to the gut. You should have stayed home, little boy, the Broccoli scoffed at him, walking towards him with both the corn's on either side. The young boy was sent back about five feet, getting the wind knocked out of him. At least there isn't anyone here who will miss you when you're dead. He stared at his enemies surrounding him, ready to pummel the young boy to the ground, He had to think of something and fast. He needed to Isolate them and take them out one by one, only then could he reclaim the advantage. With every step a new horizon; Gigantiske trinn while casting the incantation, his body and staff glowed with a brilliant light, and with a flash both Jornaal and the giant corn that first appeared vanished from his enemies sight. Reappearing in an instant about forty feet to the west; Now it was one on one.

Isolating his enemies so they could no longer gain up on him was Jornaal's best strategy that he could come with on the fly. It took a little time for the other two to figure out where they had disappeared to, but his target enemy got up right away and began his charge. Expecting this, but unable to move his legs, Jornaal simply waited for his target come within his range. As soon as the mutated corn was within five feet of the young wizard, Jornaal swung his staff hard on the corns head like a released spring on a mouse trap, splattering his enemy into the dust. He then focused his attention upon the other two, who by now had found where he had disappeared to. GET HIM! the Broccoli shouted, sending his other ally into battle, and charging himself in soon after. Being the faster of the two, the Broccoli would be on Jornaal first, which was what jornaal was hoping for. Keeping his one on one strategy in motion; but plans don't always go as you hoped they would. Before his legs were fully functional again, even more enemies appeared before him, Come on, give me a break!

'Monster Dice' :

Just as he was about to take on these two creatures, three more pop out of the ground. This has got to end, and fast. Otherwise he was going to die before he even got started, and that would be no good. What would his master think of him he died by a bunch of mutated vegetables? No way that was going to happen; Now it was time for him to get serious. He stood up straight, took in a deep breath, placed his hand on his hood and through it down off of his face so he could give these creatures his fullest attention. Stretching his Second Sight to its fullest potential. Noting every enemy on the battlefield, time seemed to slow down for a moment. Captain Broccoli was ten feet in front, Sergeant Corn was about twenty feet behind him. The other two Corn's were about thirty five feet to his back left attempting to use their cannon shot, and Private Tomato head was twenty feet to his right trying to charge him. He raised his staff just as Captain Broccoli was about to strike, but the captain still got in a second punch to the ribs. By now, the young wizard was pumping pure adrenaline though and was swinging at him like a crazy gorilla, knocking the strong creature down to the ground.

The broccoli creature was rearing its ugly head back, ready to hit Jornaal with its 'Broccolli Swat'. While the tomato and corn were still coming in headstrong- no pun intended. Jornaal seemed to be in some major trouble if he didn't get out of this quick. Sidestepping the broccoli's slam attack, Jornaal went for the kill but was easily blocked by the strong vegetable; only getting in one hit, that still kept the thing off it's feet. It didn't distract him from stopping the running tomato from getting smacked by Jornaal, but those two ended up making an opening for the corn creature to send the boy flying about twenty feet back. It was taking all that Jornaal had to keep going and finish his mission, he knew he needed a win from here to take back to Lamia Scale, proving to the rest of the guild that he belonged there. Using his staff for support, he tried desperately to gather all the energy he could. He had to stop playing in their game, he needed a way to get them to play his. The problem was he didn't know what his game was; Was it isolation, pounce and strike? He tried everything he could think of. He knew one thing was for sure, he had to get rid of the leader, the strongest monster on the battlefield...Captain Broccoli.

The three stooges were preparing to charge him again, well, Captain Broccoli was still attempting to stand from Jornaal's last sweep, and the Corn twin's were about to release fire. Quickly , without much thought, Jornaal ran toward's the corn twins, dodging both of their attacks as they weren't very accurate. Using his focused melee training, he swung at both of his targets hitting each vital spot. The Captain stood up and gave a vicious roar that seemed to inspire, or confuse, his allies into a blind rage. Jornaal leaped back behind the corn, using his staff as a pole vault, in order to have a better field position over his allies. Being confused in their rage, and after his last attack, the corn twins were unprepared for Jornaal's next swing from behind and were splatted on the ground to mush. He lifted his face so his enemies could see the strong intent that young boy had for fulfilling his mission. This ceased the Captain's chase, as he simply stared back with malice, yet the other two kept coming. Though it were only Death that he brought, it was still the will of their master for these vile vegetables to kill this young mage.

With the enchanted words, the young mage, once again, activated his elemental rune, turning his staff into a much better weapon than before. He used it in good time, too, for as soon as he activated the red tomato came bull rushing towards, and into a fire attack. Completely obliterating the thing to tomato paste; Then, using his staff for leverage, he sprung himself into an aerial kick into the corn's face knocking him to the ground. Keeping his momentum going, he raised his staff to smash the corn into the dirt with the ice side and then finished the job by striking the creature tin the side and out of the way. The large broccoli started to freak out but immediately charged in a blind rage. Jornaal met its charge with a swift double strike, burning the broccoli to ash.

Jornaal start to breathe a sigh of relief hoping this nightmare would be over, but it was only just beginning. Hello, Hello, Hello. It seems you've destroyed my lovelies, oh and I was starting to enjoy their annoying company. He heard this statement come out of voice that sent shivers up his spine. He turned around to face his newest challenger, though he couldn't actually see what the old man looked like, he pictured a bald, skinny man wearing a pin-striped pant suit who liked to burn down buildings and steal people's fortunes. Am I to believe you are behind this mess? He asked the evil wizard who cursed this land to begin with. Yep, that's me. With that, Jornaal began his charge, You probably already guessed it, but I was sent here to stop you. The wizard started to chant one of his curses, but Jornaal was right there on top of him, he blocking his fire strike but was caught off guard by Jornaal's second ice strike.
