Delvic in Waiting

Delvic had just finished parting ways with Raina, he frowned unable to grasp the complex and overly stressed thoughts that must fly through her head. He turned on his way however wishing to take care of one more piece of business in the port city before returning home. Delvic looked up at a very tall wooden building with the feelings of a fortress; high walls surrounded the enclosure and the councils flag dangles high overhead. Delvic gulped as he stepped inside and looked about, he noted that the lines were very small today, ranging only in the couple of hundreds.

Del hated waiting, but he couldn’t bring himself to cut in front of the other people who wished to see the lands beyond Fiore. Delvic took his spot at the end of the line, a nice older gentleman and his wife sat just in front of him, and grinned kindly at the small boy. “Where are your parents little one?” the old lady cooed smiling ever so sweetly. The old man rolled his eyes with a thoughtful smile. “I don’t have them anymore,” came Del’s reply, “I’m all alone," he said with a grin, "but being a mage makes that all okay.” “A wizard, you!” the old lady looked with mock amazement at the small boy.

Delvic smiled, and pulled out his ID, and flashed his guild mark. The old lady shut up. Delvic hadn't meant to cause a ruckus, but the lady had slightly hurt his feelings. He had been babied enough as he had grown up. Del had disowned his parents to force them to stop. He felt a little bad when the woman had taken her husband and left soon after that. He pulled out a book, and began to read. The story was a piece of his magic, a demon bound in the form of a book. He enjoyed reading these tomes since they always developed a truly strange and unique story.

Anyone else reading would think of the story as complete twaddle, but would appreciate the illustrations. Delvic on the other hand was an avid reader and enjoyed reading his creations dreams. This creature was born of a small sapling Delvic had seen ripped from the ground as he had passed by, and the creature’s dream reflected its true nature.
It all happened in the forest, the creature calling itself Holly, wandered about smelling the wild flowers. It first came upon normal flowers, but as the pages progressed the demonic nature came forward in the appearance of Wild Roses, another tribe that riding Dandelions attacked poor Holly and her friends Lily and Sakura.

Delvic was engrossed by his book and he watched as Holly and her friends were captured by the Wild Roses. He held his breath as they attempted their daring escape, and cried when everyone was sure that Lily had died. Anyone watching would giggle to themselves as the boy cried over his book.

“Next!” finally cut him short, as he found himself in the front of the line. He closed his book and placed it into his bag. Walking up to the counter the lady at the counter looked down on the diminutive figure. “Where are your folks, short stack?” She asked. Delvic handed her his ID and then showed his guild insignia. The lady looked actively alarmed, but with that shock still plastered on her face she stamped approval of his passport. He stepped to the side and smiled as his image appeared on the small booklet. “Have a… nice… day.” The lady stammered still surprised. He waved back and returned the sentiment.

Delvic stopped on his way out of Hargeon and dug a small hole, and reaching into his bag pulled out a small and damaged sapling. He placed it into the ground, and pushed the warm dirt around it with a smile. “Lily makes it by the way,” he whispered, and walked to the train station.
