"It's been a long time. You better know what you are doing." Simon stood with his shoulder's wide, his back straight, his arms at his side, his hair combed flat and in the most uncomfortable suit in history. He looked up at the large man who had given him his instructions and smiled a fake grin "Of course father I would NEVER forget out little lessons." He then turned to walk into the ball, he hated everything about this situation. His father's boss's daughter was apparently a total selfish snob and couldn't get anyone to go with her to this ball she had to attend and it just so happened Simon's father was looking for a promotion at the time so guess what wonderful suggestion he came up with? So despite being disowned apparently Simon still had to do what his dad told him which was stupid, but he played along maybe he could ruin everything on "accident" and get his dad fired.

As his stupid way too tight shoes strangled his feet he entered the main ball room it was a familiar sight that he hated. His father had dragged him to events like this on many occasions to show off his "perfect son." Tch Simon felt like breeding stock, raised since birth to entertain nobles and help his dad forward his personal vendettas the little lessons Simon had mentioned were actually daylong tutoring sessions on the way of the court that he had been subject to several times a week. It was cruel really the suit while elegant and Blue Pegasus worthy was like a constricting snake crushing him, inhumane torture that no child should ever have to endure. But that was not the task at hand, Sonya Versalious was waiting, the name made him shudder he had met Sonya on more then a few occasions and each time was less pleasant then the one before his father had done a good job covering up disowning him but he was certain that some how the news would have reached her stuff like that always did. "Baggon-Bastard where have you been I was expecting you 1 second ago you lazy bastard." That was her, the voice of the devil herself was coming from right behind him naming him a bastard and of course she was the only person on earth with even shorter patience then him.

Simon turned around this was probably the most painful and dread filled motion of his life he was about to face down another ghost from his past, seeing his father was terrible enough as it was but Sonya was a special kind of torture. When they were both 4 Sonya still had her mother and was a very sweet child the two of them got along really well but then when her mother died she became inconsolable and intolerable. It really didn't help that Simon was very bad at showing empathy and didn't understand what it meant to lose someone like that so he accidentally hurt her feelings on multiple occasions and well their relation ship only got worse and worse after that Simon was certain this was just going to be another chapter in a long book of misery. As he faced Sonya he put on a fake grin and lied through his teeth "Hello Miss Versalious, how nice it is to see you after so long. I sincerely apologize for making you wait." Sonya was a few inches shorter then Simon and had curly pink hair that fell all the way down to her feet, she wore a white dress with a pink trim to it. She just seemed large then life really she probably had some kind of spell to alter her appearance.

She stared daggers at him and replied sharply "Don't even try that ruse bootlicker, I know you are only here because your father made you. Now you are to follow me at all times, standing at my left, two feet behind me and one foot to the side never break that distance. You may only leave my side if I tell you too, you will go where I tell you to, you will get back in the time I tell you to. IF we dance, which we will have to, I will lead and you will follow you are not allowed to look anywhere on my body lower then my chin and you will make minimal contact. Understand?" Simon nodded "But of course, shall we go?" Sonya turned away to walk towards the party and Simon immediately fell in behind her; this was going to be a long night.

Following Sonya's demands were easy Simon was familiar enough with how she liked things done that she didn't even really need to say some of the stuff she wanted for Simon to do it. She went about the ball talking to nobles insulting them and devaluing them because she knew they all worked for her father while Simon would speak only when spoken to and try to be as nice to everyone as she was mean to them. Some people tried to say things to nudge Sonya to be more polite, but there was no way in hell that was going to happen they usually got harsh psychologically scarring insults as their reward. After about thirty minutes of painful small talk that left Simon wanting to jump out of a window, Sonya walked to a stage where a band was playing and demanded a trio of grown men abandon their front row seats for her which they did without delay. She sat down and told Simon "Go get me a glass of 'divine vin rosé' you have thirty seconds. Now go."

Simon walked away at a brisk speed heading over to a table at the side of the room where a strange man in a suit was pouring drinks for the various ball goers. He approached the man and said "Lady Versalious demands a glass of 'Saintly Nectar Cider' now." the man looked at him "Pardon young mas-" Simon interrupted him "Did I stutter? I said Lady Versalious wants a glass of 'Saintly Nectar Cider' now." The man fumbled with a bottle and poured the contents into a glass "But of course young master." Simon took the glass and strolled back to Sonya and gave her the glass, she looked at it and said "This isn't what I asked for." Simon grinned "No but it is what you wanted and it is actually legal for you to drink at your age." She looked at him then back at the drink, took a sip then spoke again "Shut up and sit down."

After an ungodly and horribly long amount of time Sonya got bored of the music, Simon stood to keep the distance she had demanded of him and began following her once more. "Now Baggon-Bastard my father expects to see me dancing, and right now he is watching the dance floor; so I am going to give him what he wants and you will assist me, understand? Simon nodded and the two walked out onto the dance floor among the other rich snobs and with Sonya leading, to Simon's inner torture, they went through the motions of a eloquent slow dance that they had both been taught by their parents and that they had both been expected to practice extensively. "Looks like you retained some knowledge after being disowned. But then again trained monkeys could do this."

Simon allowed himself to frown "I seriously can't believe you at times, don't you give a shit about anything that happens to anyone but you?" Sonya frowned and dug her fingernails into the back of Simon's hand "Know your place boot licker, I am above anyone and everyone. I don't need to be judged by pathetic peasants like you." Simon hardly felt anything from Sonya's words or her little 'attack' for he was suddenly feeling bold and empowered "Just because your money let's you doesn't mean you should treat people like that. Don't you think your life would be happier if you got to know people?" "You're a special kind of stupid Simon. If I wasn't so fond of you I would have you throw at a window for that kind of insult." Simon bit his tongue and for the moment just let it slide.

Minutes passed as they continued to go through the motions in an awkward silence before Sonya spoke again "I believe we have satisfied my father's request, we are stopping now." "As you wish." At that they both stopped and began to walk away from the dance floor. For a short amount of time they walked about the large ball room without direction before Sonya sighed and started walking very rapidly towards a door in the corner of the room Simon had to substantially pick up his pace to not lose track of her in the crowds. Arriving at the door she spun around to look at him "You will stay outside this door until I tell you other wise under no circumstances are you to come in." Before Simon could say a word she turned and went through the door, so Simon was left to stand there. Time went by and he watched the ball slowly continue and he watch the on the clock pass at a snail's pace and before long his curiosity and boredom got the better of him and he went through the door.

It led into a narrow hallway that was hardly decorated, the walls and floor were rough and worn from time it was hard to believe that it was connected to such an elegant ball room. Determined and excited to see what lay beyond he followed the hallway for a few minutes going through all kinds of twists and turns and stair cases and what not. He spent a hardly anytime examining the old painting and the view from the small windows or the small servant looking bed rooms that connected to the hallway. As he walked up a particularly grand stair case Simon began to hear a soft and distant sound he paused for a moment then walking as quietly as he could continued walking up the stairs toward the noise. At the top of the stair case he found himself on a large balcony over looking the city, on the edge of the balcony standing close to the handrail was Sonya gazing out at Era below. Simon then noticed the source of the sound Sonya was playing a violin before he could say anything she said "I know you are there, I told you not to come up. I really should have you thrown over this balcony Baggon-Bastard."

Simon threw his hands up into the air "Woah let's not do something rash. I personally would like to live to see tomorrow." Sonya stopped playing and looked at him "And why is that? There is nothing really great in this world worth living for." Simon walked over to the balcony and pointed out ward "Because out there is so much to see! So many places, people, creatures and buildings and I need to be alive to see all that." Sonya looked at the city the sun had already fallen and it was growing dark very fast "You really are stupid, here in Era we have everything the world has to offer and we have it readily." Simon looked at her like he had been struck "You're kidding right? There is so much that the world has to offer that couldn't ever fit in Era, heck it couldn't fit in a city 10 times this size!" Sonya replied with a dismissive wave but Simon get talking he went on to tell her about his adventures since joining Fairy Tail, the people he had met the things he had seen. By the time he was done she just stood there then spun on her heels and started walking towards the stair case "Come along Simon, I have a world to see."

Shortly there after Simon got to watch Sonya explain to her father how she wanted to go out and see the world on her own. The older man had seemed troubled by this but instead of putting down her enthusiasm told her that going out into the world was dangerous to do alone so he would take her on a trip around Fiore if that is what she wanted. So Simon awkwardly watched them share a very happy father daughter moment and he saw Sonya smile for the first time in a long time. After the moment had passed Sonya walked over to Simon and flicked his forehead "This better be worth it, or I will have daddy send all the rune knights he can get to hunt you down and make you pay for you lies." He was naturally surprised she had said this but felt it was to be expected, people don't change over night "You do that." With the ball concluding Simon took his leave, another job complete.
