Delvic held the request sheet tightly in his hands. "A job, to find a rare book?" he almost giggled with excitement. The train whistle blew shrilly as Delvic hopped on board, heading for Hargeon, and then onward to Peace Village. The train took its sweet time, but finally got underway. Unfolding the crumpled piece of paper Delvic read it one more time. “Request: Library Run [t]I’m not as spry as I one was but I am looking for a copy of “Thrice the Shades of Shadow”, a favorite in my youth, but the library can’t find it and I can’t search. Please help this old soul, find this book! [/t]

Delvic stared out the window, and bounced up and down on his seat. He kept parying that the train would go faster, but finally in a fit of boredom he pulled out one of his many puzzle blocks and began fiddling the pieces apart. “Kunugi station, Kunugi station.” Came over the loud speaker, just as Delvic finished putting it together he looked up, sighed and pulled out another. “This is gonna take a while” he mumbled. As he reached Hargeon however he noted explosions from the window, the great flashes poared from the city and, the conductor came on, "Due to unforeseen circumstances we will be continuing on without delay, my apologies for the inconvenience."

Raven stood in front of the library, a crumpled piece of paper lying to her side. Apparently, she was running out of money and decided to take on a mission. The mission promised 750 jewels and it would be a good experience. She was also extremely bored that day, so going on a mission didn’t sound so bad to her. She was waiting for a blue Pegasus member that was taking this mission with her. They had to find a book from the library and give it to the client. The client, an old lady, was having trouble finding this book and she decided to make a request for it.

Thus, there raven was standing in front of the library, staring up at the sky. She wore a loose white shirt along with her black jeans and converse. Her hair flowed behind her, not properly brushed and her shirt was ruffled, indicating that she didn’t pay much attention to what she looked like when she left the inn she was currently staying at. “I want to get this over with already”

Delvic placed aside his 6th puzzle, as the cart jostled down the road, and into Peace Village. “Thank you,” He said waving after the farmer who had given him a lift. He strolled into town trying to hide his excitement. “Thrice the Shades of Shadow” was a book that wasn't printed anymore and he had never read it himself, this was reason enough for him to be excited. He held up the paper looking intently at the writing and began walking to the clients address. His small child-like figure skipped and hopped carelessly, and began walking past the library, until he noticed the silver haired girl.

He froze for a moment before approaching, “are you Raven-chan?” he asked. His auburn hair and icy blue eyes, lent itself well to his average appearance of a 7 year old child. He looked up at her curious, trying to decide if she was the person he was supposed to meet. “You’re from Sabertooth, right?” the young face inquired. He covered his eyes from the sunlight as he looked up at her.

She was still staring up at the sky, her head resting on her right hand. Her left hand was digging into her pocket, playing around with a candy that she bought not too long. She bought it on her way here from a shop when she was feeling like eating something sweet. She was currently eating one of the two that she bought. “When is that guy going to get here?” she questioned, pushing herself off the wall. She was about to walk forward when she suddenly saw a boy standing in front of her. She stared at the kid and blinked. It couldn’t be that this kid is the mage she was waiting for?

Her suspicion was confirmed when he asked if she is Raven. She nodded, giving him a small smile. “Yes, I’m Raven. You must be Delvic,” she said, now making her way towards the library. “Let’s go, we should get this over with already.”

She pushed at the door to the library, opening it without much effort. “Now….how hard can this be?”

Delvic smiled behind Raven almost laughing, as she underestimated the library. Delvic knew better, if the librarian couldn’t find it then it didn’t want to be found. He started by walking up to the librarian, and asked about the book.

“Good day Miss, I’m looking for “Thrice the Shades of Shadow” for a friend of mine, has it been found?” He asked the older lady looked up kindly to the small child and shook her head. “I’m sorry but that title went missing from our shelves over ten years ago.” She looked apologetic, “you’re free to look around, but the library is in the middle of reorganizing at the moment, some children broke in last night and tossed every book from the shelves, so I’m sorry for the inconvenience.” She smiled and waved them through.

“Ten years, and a destroyed library,” Delvic giggled, “this isn’t going to be easy at all." He looked to Raven and bowed her towards the many piles of books that littered the floor, and walked back over to the Librarian’s counter whispered something to her, she nodded and brought out a very large book from behind the desk, he thanked her and opened it investigating.

Raven sighed and rubbed her temples ass he saw the big library with more than millions of books in front of her. Her focus went to the little boy who was obviously laughing at her and shrugged. She wasn’t mad or anything. In fact, she was quite amused herself. She smirked as she walked into the library, her eyes following the boy from Blue Pegasus, to see what he was going to do.  She walked behind him, letting him talk to the librarian about the book. She just nodded, slightly smiling at the librarian as a sign of recognition before following the boy with her eyes again.

Raven followed him towards the big pile of books and sighed, finding this job to be very tiring. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed the boy speaking to the librarian about something, getting a big book moments later. She turned her attention back to the pile of books, letting Delvic deal with whatever he was doing. She knelt down in front of the pile and her right hand started searching for something randomly. She had no idea what she was looking for and so just pulled out something her hand caught on. "Let's see"

(5 or better, Raven hits jackpot and finds the book lol)

Delvic looked up at Raven who was randomly shuffling through books; he smiled as he flipped back a few years in the registrar, and began his search this time in the years just before the books disappearance. He continued shuffling through pages and rose from the counter and walked through the shelves with it not noticing the Librarians disapproval. Del strode over to Raven and lifted the book showing a drawing of a hard bound leather novel embossed with the title “Thrice the Shades of Shadow” in black letters and an image of a tribal rose.

“This is what you’re looking for; I figured you weren’t one for reading so you might not know.” He smiled at her, and turned back to the check outs. The Librarian came over then and insisted that Delvic come back to the counter with the registrar. Delvic flushed and followed her, looking through it once more fairly certain that he had the secret to the books disappearance in his reach. He looked up at Raven and gave her a thumbs up, smiling.

(Roll of 4 or better he finds what he’s looking for)

Delvic smiled as he found the name of the last person to check out the book they were looking for, and noted that it hadn't been returned. He closed the registrar and skipped over to Raven "Have you found it?" he asked.

Raven sighed and put the book she randomly selected to the side before getting up. She was thinking of looking around the pile of books while Delvic looked through the registrar. Her eyes twitched when he told her that he thought she wasn’t someone who read much but didn’t make any further argument towards it. Following him to the counter, she pulled the registrar away from him before looking through it. Her eyes scanned through the pages once before handing it back down to him. “How am I supposed to find something that is not even in this library?” she replied walking towards the lady. “But you on the other hand seemed to have found something.”

Tapping on the lady’s shoulder to get her attention, she pointed towards the registrar. “The last person that took that book…do you by any chance know where that person lives?” Raven opened the registrar for the lady to see. “Oh that person…I think he lives not too far away from the library,” the lady replied pushing her glasses up on her nose.

Delvic made a disgruntled face, as Raven took the registrar, and stated “I barely found out myself.” He hopped off of the counter leaving the registrar with the Librarian, and followed after Raven, “thank you,” he called back to the nice lady. Delvic held stride with his counterpart, and tried to spark conversation, “Why are you always so grumpy, Raven-chan?” He asked. “I get sometimes, but you take it all to a new level.” He crossed his arms as he looked at the Sabertooth member, and thought “yep, to serious.”

Delvic smiled as he walks, waving at everyone, and almost acting like he lived there, often smiles were returned. He naturally bled into the background almost vanishing in the crowd of faces that surrounded the tranquil village. He yanked on Raven’s pants again, looking at her, “were being followed” he said non-chalet. He motioned his head back to a young girl standing staring into a toy store window a discarded piece of paper in her hands. She looked like a street urchin torn clothes and dirt layering her skin if it weren’t for the small bow in her short brown hair gender would have been impossible to determine.

Rave just stared blankly at Delvic when he talked of her being too serious. She agreed that she was being a little too serious than how she usually is. She wondered what it was that got her into a bad mood that day. Usually she was so loud and cheerful. She concluded that it was because she was in no mood to laugh and grin at everyone. But when the small boy asked her that, she finally decided that she has to let her guard down. What was she trying to do anyway?

She mentally laughed and scratched the back of her head. A big smile formed on her face afterwards and she started giggling. “Sorry! Sorry about that. I was looking like a grumpy old woman, wasn’t I?” she asked the kid, sticking her tongue out slightly at the end. She just smiled as Delvic smiled and waved at everyone. She wasn’t going to go as far as waving at everyone. Someone has to act like the adult, right?

Her train of thoughts stopped when she found Delvic tugging at her pants and looked down, raising an eyebrow at him. Someone’s following them? Raven turned around to see a small girl looking at them with a piece of paper in her hands. She smiled at the girl so that the girl won’t get scared “Hey”

Delvic grinned broadly as Raven actually lightened up, he smiled. “Yes,” was all he said before continuing to walk on his way. He watched Raven as she called out to the girl who started and dashed into the crowed. “Apparently, she didn’t want to be seen?” Delvic said to Raven now suspicious of the young girl. “What do you think Raven-chan?” he stated as he continued walking.

Delvic hopped down the street until he reached a small cottage with a little man sitting out front, and waved for Raven. “Good afternoon sir,” Del said, “would you happen to be Mr.Lazarus?” The old man rose and nodded managing to with his almost chibish nature to hold a look suspicion. “What can I do for you, young’un?” Mr.Lazarus said. Delvic stood for a moment to let Raven arrive and then stated, “We’re looking for the copy of “Thrice the Shades of Shadow”, and are aware that you failed to return it to the library.” The old man laughed returning to his relaxed position, “I’ve been holding that book for… what was it now 10 years, and she still hasn’t come, I must be a dolt.” He laughed hardily, and Delvic grinned.

Raven hummed curiously as the girl ran away from them and disappeared into the crowd. “I wonder who the girl is…” she mused, turning around on her heels to follow Del towards wherever he was hopping towards this time. She could only hear the sound of a busy street and being the curious woman she is, she silently ordered a crow to keep an eye on the girl that she just saw. This was the merit of controlling all the ravens, she thought pushing some silver hair that was on her face to the back. Controlling such beings made it easy to do these kinds of small things with them. They were like a pair of different eyes.

She turned her attention back to Del when he called her over, probably having found their destination. She stopped near him to find an old man with him and it turned out that he indeed had the book with him. The way he spoke though made Raven feel like he was disappointed with something. Raven smiled at both of them before deciding to speak up for what they came there for. “Sir, could we please have that book?”

The old man stopped his laughing, and looked kindly on the two young’uns, “Sure, I’ll go get it from the back,” he said smiling, and entered the house. Delvic turned and looked at Raven, “well that was easy.” He grinned, as he looked up at her, then noting, “What’s with that raven?” he pointed up to the next roof over. They then heard a tussle inside and the sound of breaking glass.

The raven watched the girl enter the house through the back door and then break through the window she ran down the alley then and into the street a small black package under her arm.

Delvic tore into the house and found Mr. Lazarus moaning on the ground. “Are you alright, what happened?” he said quickly. “I’m fine, but the book has been stolen, some dammed child broke in here and took off through the window when I tried to stop em.” Delvic looked out to Raven, and nodded that everything was fine. He turned to go, but was grabbed by Mr. Lazarus, “Could you do one thing for me? Tell your client about me, I did this for all these years and still never had the courage to simply talk to her, please.” He then let go and Delvic ran out of the house. “Old people are strange,” was all he said to Raven.

Raven nodded as the man turned to go in and look for the book. She waited while looking around the front of the house, taking in the structure of it and everything. Her attention turned to the raven she was controlling when Delvic took note of it and grinned. “Oh you will see” she said patting him on his back. She was tracking that small girl using her raven. Her connection with the crows allowed her to see what they saw and her eyes narrowed dangerously as she heard a sound followed by the girl running out of the house.

Raven didn’t follow Del inside the house but sighed at the turn of events. “Keep following her” she told the raven before rubbing her temples. When Del ran out from the house, Raven grabbed his hand. “Hold on,” she warned before letting her black wings free. Her big black wings started spreading and at the next moment, she was flying with Del. She followed the girl using the raven she sent out and it didn’t take long before she finally caught up with the little girl. She landed right in front of her, let go of Delvic and extended a hand to the girl. “The book, little lady”

Having the Raven haired girl fall from the sky the girl froze, but clutched tightly to the book. Her eyes darted about looking for any form of escape. She then fainted toward a side alley and then dashed past the two of them and down the way towards the client’s house. “Apparently she doesn’t listen very well.” He said with a grin. Delvic took off then not wanting to go for another impromptu flight. His short legs wouldn’t allow him to keep up with the taller girl nor Ravens wings, but he knew where she was going, and how to beat her there.

He turned down the back alley and dashed over the lower fences and came out beside a small lady sitting behind a large rose bush. Delvic nodded to her and stepped out just in time to intercept the girl. “Sorry, but no, you can’t take the reward.” Delvic said evenly looking sadly at the girl who looked defeated and hopeless. “Why did you need it anyway?” he asked.

The Book Job (Delvic and Raven) Empty Re: The Book Job (Delvic and Raven)

Raven sighed as the girl decided to be stubborn and ran to the other side. She let go of Delvic and sighed again when he started running as well. What is with those two and running, she wondered as she took flight once more to follow them. She absolutely hated having to put effort on things and those two are making her put on a lot of effort with this whole chasing. She landed right next to Delvic who was now talking t the girl. She stared at the girl with her red eyes, not exactly trying to scare her or anything.

She walked towards the girl and knelt down, putting both of her hands on the girl’s shoulders. “Look. I am not sure why you need this book but I am really afraid that we can’t let you have it. As mages, we have an obligation to do our mission and get that book to the one who requested it. So unless you have a good reason for this, I will not let you take it. Running and trying to oppose us won’t help because you know very well on which side would win.”

The girl broke down in front of Raven tears rolling down here face. “I need the jewel,” she wailed as she slumped to the ground. Delvic stepped forward and taking the book from where it lay handed it to the older lady, and whispered in her ear. She smiled with a blush, before turning to the door and collecting their payment. The girl continued to sob as she looked at the pouch of jewels, her eyes pleading and hopeless. She simple wept, and apologized through her tears, but not to them, to someone named Timmothy.

Delvic looked at her and slipping the jewel out of sight he approached, “what is the matter girly-chan?” he asked actual concern in his voice. She began to cry even harder, “My brother… *sniff*… they took him.” She wailed trying her best not to continue crying. Delvic looked at Raven with pity in his eyes, “Shall we help,” he asked aimed at her.

Raven’s eyes softened as she saw the little girl break down in front of her. The girl, in that state, reminded of herself. She used to be so weak as well and so powerless to protect her world and her family. She held the girl close, hugging her for a moment and patting on her back, silently conveying to her that everything will be alright. She realized that the little girl kept apologizing to someone named Timothy and strengthened her hold on her, still trying to make the girl to stop crying. She didn’t know what exactly was happening but she wasn’t leaving the girl in this state.

“Raven! I’m here!” she heard the familiar voice of her pet calling out to her from a distance. Kuroe landed beside Raven, gently folding his wings back to his side before turning to look at Raven and the girl crying on her arms. “Oh...what happened here?” he asked, tilting his head to look at them in confusion. The red eyed girl rolled her eyes, getting up and whacking the raven lightly on its head. “How many times have I told you not to be late!?” she half yelled half whispered to the crow that was now patting its head with its wings. “ow! Woman, flying all the way here is not as easy as you think,” her crow complained in return.

“Whatever, “ Ravens aid before turning towards Del and the girl. “We are helping her alright. She can ride on Kuroe.”

Delvic grinned as he watched Raven step into her own, apparently the girl had struck a nerve. "And I ride with you, right?" he said a little excited to fly again. He grinned as he dashed towards her. He looked puzzled at the girl as they passed however and then stopped. "Who are we up against anyway?"

The girl then froze and looked completely depressed, "Their a group of thugs that call themselves, "the Chaos", they run small time crime throughout Peace Village and a few other towns in the country side." she said eyes down cast likely expecting the two mages to back down now that they were actually challenged.

Delvic laughed as the words escaped her lips, he then turned to Raven, "This could actually be fun Raven-chan." he chimed now grabbing Raven in a bear hug, "How do you thing we should handle this?" He asked Raven once again looking at her like a child would, almost testing.
