Due to his Seith magic principles, Hijikata must find an object in order to store his spirits in. The objects that he decides to use are chained accessories that Hijikata wears daily. He wears a chained collar around his neck as well as chained bracelets around both arms and legs. The chains that are wrapped around his wrists are connected to a ring placed on each one of his fingers. On all of these chained accessories lies a small blade which stores then souls of Fenris and Fenrir.

Personality:
Hijikata is a calm and caring individual. His sense of justice allows him to carry a high appreciation for loyalty, honor and honesty. He perceives justice as something that gives the ability for everyone to smile rather than something to do with 'right or wrong' principles. Because of this he is always trying to make everyone around him live in a brighter environment by creating it himself. He will always try to make the atmosphere a little bit livelier but never goes overboard for he is still more of a straight forward character and does get embarrassed if he becomes the center of attention. No matter where he is Hijikata will always be wearing a smile as long as he is near the people that are close to him. He will never show any signs of negativity around his nakama for he does not want them to go through the same troubles he is going through. The only beings that hijikata is willing to share his secrets with and share his hard moments are his twin wolf spirits, Fenrir and Fenris, who will always be by his side.

Due to his past experiences Hijikata has also become a very understanding person. He understands that people fall into deep depression when a loved one dies and are willing to use dark magic to bring them back to life. Even though this method will only bring out more evil spirits that Hijikata will have to exorcise later on, he does not blame the person for falling into this trap. After all, his main reason for living is so that he could save these people from being possessed by the spirit. Though it is possible that Hijikata could just kill the person and therefore destroy the spirit possessing them, Hijikata will stick to his promise and challenge the spirit by offering his body in exchange. However, the people who simply summon evil spirits into this world for absurd things such as power and wealth or any other personal gain is something he cannot forgive. After Hijikata saves these people from being consumed by the spirits however, he believes that they should deserve a second chance and tries to guide them into the right path. Mercy is the one aspect that Hijikata will always show to his opponents after their defeat. He will forgive anyone that is determined to change themselves and would even go as far as trying to recruit them into his guild (when he finds one) so that he could keep a watchful eye on them and be certain that they travel the right path.

Hijikata's warm and pleasing smile is only directed towards those close to him and those that are ready to change. His enemies do not get such fortune and would have to deal with Hijikata in a serious state. His face would usually carry a stoic or apathetic look and he would do very little talking whilst in the middle of a fight. Those that fight him because they want a spar however, are spared from this. Hijikata will enter a much more relaxed state and fight with a slight smirk on his face if he considered his opponents to be more like rivals than enemies.

Due to his magic and the overall possibility that his wolf spirits could leave him if he does not show signs of an alpha male, Hijikata is always seen to be more of a leader type than anything else. He is always calm and confident and ready to face any opponent no matter how strong they are. He will always accept a leader position and would work hard on improving his teamwork with others.

Likes:

• Fenris & Fenrir: Originally these twin wolf spirits are Hijikata's very first spirits he has made a contract with. Because they have been together for so long Hijikata views them as actual family and would protect them with his own life. Even if there is a day where Hijikata receives an extremely more powerful spirit that outshines these wolves, Hijikata will still have them part of his team no matter what.
  
  
• Talking to random spirits: Since spirits are everywhere and anywhere Hijikata takes his time to familiarize himself with them and share casual conversations. He finds that talking to spirits are a lot more comforting than talking to a human since he grew up around them more than he did with normal individuals. This however has lead people to believe that Hijikata either talks to himself or has imaginary friends since they cannot see the spirits themselves.
  
  
• Calm and peaceful music: Hijikata is always aiming to gain a better mindset and concentration. Listening to soft music helps Hijikata achieve this while he is meditating so that he can achieve a greater willpower. He generally prefers a piano or violin solo and is much more interested in orchestra music.
  
  
• Completing requests: Most of the time a spirit comes back to this world is because there is an objective that it wants to finish before it goes to the next world. These can include looking for a certain object or individual, trying to keep a promise, giving a message to someone still living in this world, etc. Even though Hijikata has the ability to exorcise these spirits and send them to the next world, he finds more joy in completing these objectives for them so that they can finally leave this dimension in peace and with a smile on their face.
  
  
• Company: No matter what Hijikata always prefers to be in a group. Because of his promise to Elise, Hijikata is always trying to bring a smile to everyone's face. He simply cannot do this if there is no one around. He believes that the more people he knows, the more they can make someone else smile because Hijikata already brightened up their day.
  
  

Dislikes:

• Necromancy: One thing Hijikata despises the most is necromancy magic. Necromancer mages are a common enemy to any shaman as one side tries to send souls back to the next world while the other drags them from that dimension and brings them here against their own will.
  
  
• Polluted Air: Hijikata is one that enjoys the essence of Mother Nature. He finds certain landscapes to be harmonious and calming, but when he enters an area filled with pollution he becomes greatly disgusted and saddened by the scene. He prefers to breathe the fresh air that comes after the rain over anything else.
  
  
• Wasting Food: No matter how large his meal is Hijikata will always finish it, even if it takes him over an hour. He is grateful and appreciates the kind gifts that this world has given him and understands that there are people less fortunate than him. He finds it rather insulting when people leave their plate with still massive amounts of leftovers on it.
  
  
• People that live on the misfortune of others: This one is quite obvious, Hijikata wants to indulge people with extreme happiness and fortune while the other lives on the grief of those they target.
  

Motivations:

• Keeping a promise / Finding a solution: Ever since the day he lost his friend, Hijikata has made a promise to himself over Elise's grave that he will purify anyone that has been possessed by an evil spirit. So far one of the only method of releasing a person from an evil spirit is if the person themselves fights it back with sheer will power. Because this can be difficult for the average person, Hijikata has decided that he will fight back the spirit in their place until he has found another alternative.
  
  
• Obtaining Strength: By giving up his body and leaving an opportunity for a spirit to possess him, Hijikata can fight it back with sheer will power. This is why he trains his mind/body day and night so that the spirit would have no concern when traveling from a weak to strong body. It is his promise to a dead friend that keeps him going over his limits for he does not want to see Elise until he has fulfilled his promise.
  
  
• To defeat/overcome every opponent: It is also because of this reason that every time Hijikata is losing in a fight, he will begin to think that his opponent is no different to an evil spirit trying to take over his body. This way Hijikata will continue to fight because one day he might actually face a spirit as strong as his opponent who will be dealing the same amount of damage and if he lost in that situation, than he would not be able to fulfil his promise.
  

Fears:

• The Revival of Elise: There are always people trying to revive humans from the dead. One of Hijikata's biggest fears is that someone might attempt to revive Elise or any other person that he was close to. The main reason Why he fears this however is because this would mean having to send Elise's soul back onto the next world, which in theory would be similar to killing her a second time.
  
  
• The extinction of his family: Though Hijikata's family is indeed a rich and noble one, they are limited in their family line. While Hijikata is away from home it is possible that his family is attacked by a group of dark mages which would turn Hijikata into the last remaining survivor. Hijikata fears that this could lead him into a path of self-destruction where his soul goal would be vengeance.
  
  
• Creating Evil: At any point in time a good spirit can become evil. This can be caused by a number of reasons, Ex. they found a reason for vengeance while living in this world as a spirit, improper exorcism, having too much mana being poured into them etc. Hijikata is afraid that one day he might give Fenris & Fenrir more mana than they can handle which in turn could change them into evil spirits drunk on power.

Appearance:
Hijikata has medium blond hair with bright blue eyes that give him an appealing look. He casually wears a blue tabard decorated with an orange-coloured hem and a white full-body training suit underneath. His type of attire is usually that of traditional Chinese or Japanese culture where he would often wear clothing ranging from the Zhongshan/Mao suit to a Changshan. This is the traditional clothing and style of his family which Hijikata wears with full pride. Because of this Hijikata will never become a lazy slackey and is always trying his best to stay neat and clean with an exceptional expression.

Hijikata's body isn't muscular in any way but he is generally fit and looks perfectly healthy due to his daily exercises. He has received no scars nor has any significant birth marks on his body. He casually keeps a straight face because he is more of a serious person that gets straight down to business but he still accompanies his serious attitude with a welcoming smile. He does not want others to feel uncomfortable with a workload of assignments therefore he tries his best to hold a smile and would rather encourage others to accomplish their objectives rather than force it upon them.

Hijikata also wears a number of accessories on himself such as pocket watches, earrings, bracelets, etc. Nearly all of his accessories are associated with chains but are usually kept hidden under his normal clothes. Hijikata's chained necklace would usually be hidden by his tabard collar while his watch and bracelets are hidden by his sleeves. Due to the number of accessories Hijikata wears, he has given himself more of a feminine appeal which is the reason why he hides most of his accessories but it is because of this reason Hijikata can mask his actual appearance. Hijikata is a master of disguise and can go undercover as a woman if necessary (as seen in the anime series.)
